When my father decides he’s going to use me as currency, I’m given away to the Saconne family, a mafia syndicate which rules through fear and terror. Each year, Don Saconne gifts his four sons a new toy.
This year, it’s me.
My job is to pay off my father’s debts to them by whatever means the brothers see fit. They break and burn each toy they get, so I know I probably won’t walk out of there alive, but I’ve lived a life where I’ve fought for survival.
If I have to go down fighting, I will.
But I’m taking someone with me.
Sweet Misery is a dark mafia reverse harem with four brothers who are completely violent and not fit for humanity. She doesn’t choose. And they don’t relent. Be advised this book contains dark content. Please know your limits.

please read the trigger warnings before starting this book. this book is darker than her typical stories.
with that being said, I loved the direction this story went in. I think this is a good starter book for people who want to read pitch black books but also get their foot in on a little taboo action.
I spent my morning absolutely flying through this story. I loved the plot, for a shorter story I think the plot was solid. The pacing is fast due to this being a short quick read. It’s not meant to be this full, drawn out story. But that doesn’t take away from our characters. Misery(Arianna) was a great fmc, I think she was strong and owned her weaknesses. I absolutely love how she found her strength and became a queen in her own way.
our guys are evil, pitch black. but they were incredibly well written and I definitely have a crush of massimo…a rather large one. If you’re not okay with pitch black men then this story isn’t for you. This story does have a HEA and I think it’s a solid one.
If I could change anything about the story I would’ve loved a chapter on misery and her dad. I would’ve loved to see that dark side of her.
Overall, I will be buying this book for my shelves and I recommend it.
If you’re looking for a heavy plot, this is not for you but if you want a dark, heavy smut, taboo, why choose then grab this book ASAP!!!
Misery (aka Arianna) has been sold by her father to a mafia Don, which he then gifts to his 4 sons. Their goal is to hurt her badly…like they do all their toys. But what happens when she becomes more than just their toy!
⭐️ 1/5 – Not the kind of “dark romance” I expected (actually isn’t a dark romance, it’s a dark non-con exploitation)
⚠️ Content Warnings: Extreme physical abuse Non-con sex (not fantasy dubcon — actual non-con) Sexual assault Torture Human trafficking Knife violence Threats of death Incest attempt (father → heroine) These are NOT mild “dark romance” elements — these are full torture-level scenes.
Tropes: ❌ Captive heroine ❌ Mafia ❌ Break-her-down “romance” ❌ Non-con ❌ No real emotional connection
Honestly, this book was a huge miss for me 😬 I love dark romance — morally grey heroes, killers, psychos who would burn the world but never hurt the heroine. I’m totally fine with dubcon and edgy power play when there’s a connection or at least respect. But here? The heroine is sold, beaten, sliced, assaulted, threatened with death, and violently “taken” with zero care or buildup. None of this felt romantic, emotional, or even complex — just pure shock value and cruelty. 😕 And seeing so many 5-star ratings for something that reads more like exploitation than romance honestly made me question if we even read the same book 😭 If you’re looking for obsessive but protective, “I’m a monster to everyone except you” vibes — this is not that. If you’re into extreme non-con fantasy with maximum brutality — then maybe it’s for you 🤷🏻♀️ I’m giving it ⭐️ only because the pacing and writing style were decent, but emotionally? Completely empty.

*Please check trigger warnings before diving in this book is not for the faint of heart.*
Sweet Misery is exactly what it promises: dark, taboo, and deliciously depraved. If you're looking for a deep plot or emotional slow burn, this might not be your jam. But if you're in the mood for heavy smut, mafia vibes, virgin FMC, and a whole lot of why-choose spice this book delivers *in spades*.
Arianna (aka Misery) is sold by her father to a mafia Don, only to be handed over to his four very dangerous, very broken sons. What follows is a twisted journey of control, connection, and a whole lot of *dominance*. And despite the darkness, there's something genuinely satisfying about watching Ari give these men who have never known love a reason to feel it.
Yes, it's dark. Yes, it’s spicy. And yes, there are *multiple* group scenes that will leave you breathless. If that’s your thing? Grab a drink, crawl into bed, and enjoy the chaos.
*Misery loves company… and in these four brothers, she finds it.* 🔥🖤
The Saconne family, is a mafia syndicate which rules through fear and terror. Don Saconne raised his four sons to be monsters.
Massimo is the eldest and heir to their empire. Cold. Heartless. Brutal. Roman and Renzo (age 24) are identical twins known for their madness and closeness. Sever (age 22). Quiet. Studious. Strange. He was violence, pure and simple. Arianna Day (age 22) has now become the brother’s new toy in a game she can’t win.
I love a good dark read and this is dark. Ari brings love to brothers who’ve never felt it and I enjoyed seeing them connect and dominate. Plenty of spicy group scenes and I always like a virgin FMC.
‘These characters may show up later, but I’m not going to tell you when or where.’ Hopefully we get to see glimpses of them in the book universe!
KG is a Dark Goddess. Her writing has ALWAYS pulled me in and this one was no exception. You think you will hate the MMC's but then she makes you feel for them.
This book is about 4 brothers who are gifted a "toy" from their sadistic father and how she is treated. I do not want to give any spoilers.
If you do NOT have any triggers and want a DARK spicey read, this is your book. If I could give it 6 stars I would. 6 out of 5 stars and 4 chili peppers.
I would of finished it in one night but I had to get some sleep.
Sweet Misery was a nice read for an evening in bed. Misery was a force and the brothers depraved. I wouldn't recommend this book if you have triggers about SA but if you don't, read on. It's good and has the potential to be written into a longer novel for more character building and backstory. She could eventually take us back to high school with Arianna and the Saconne brothers. I would love that. Keep up the great, twisted storytelling K.G., we love it. And thank you for the KU release.
This might be the darkest book I’ve read by KG thus far. It has a HEA, but it’s hard to imagine that it will happen throughout the book. I can’t wait to see how Ari and the men tie into KGs chaos universe in future books! I hope we get more glimpses into the strong woman she will become.
Misery loves company... In 4 brothers she finds it. Ari and sever were everything. But Mass 🥵 ok ok a twin sandwich. I mean all the loves of a RH right here in this book and some violence to the mix. Sign me up
Great little read! Characters and story were amazing! K. G. always has a way of sucking you in with MMCs you love to hate and a FMC your soul entwines with.
I'm in love with the fact she saved them and herself. It was such a nice twist compared to the books I've been reading where the girl ends up needing to be saved in the end. Not only did she successfully kill their dad she killed her own and I was so proud I even teared up for a second

Absolutely love everything by KG Reuss. She writes with great detail and emotion making it easy to visualize and put yourself in the story. Thank you for sharing another amazing book!!
Amazing book by an amazing author. I love everything KG writes! Spicy, dark, and a bit of sweetness. Great plot and loved the connections of all the characters.
Loved how dark and depraved of a read this was. It was a fairly short read however I enjoyed everything about it. KG can write about absolutely anything and I would read it.
