I'll start by saying the book was good.. still good characters and their development etc.. but I do have to say this didn't need to be a duet.. or it didn't need to be 1029 pages worth of a duet. It was too long the first book would have been good just extended it that 30 pages after the rescue and call it a day. I just dont think it needed that extra suspense it wasn't enough happening to justify this many pages. Also what I really enjoyed the most in book 1 was the banter and the funny one liners.. not very many this go around so that was a bummer.
Part of the Kulikov Bratva series so make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. The saga of Luna and Yakov continues picking up right where book one left off with us knowing that she is his queen, and he will kill/die to ensure her safe besides she is stuck with him they continue to grow but we do see all the threats that are thrown at them. They face betrayal, lies, secrets, along with so much more and yet they don’t stop fighting for each other realizing they are stronger together than they are apart so fighting for each other isn’t an option. We see that they can overcome so much but they do it together but when she is kidnapped by the very man who killed his father the war has started will he save his queen killing those responsible for taking her, their babies, will he get the family they wanted, and can they find something more than just the craziness that comes with being the bratva.
Eh. This book is more of the same it feels like. At the end of the last book, the house gets breached, in this book it gets breached. He keeps getting pissed about it, but doesn't actually seem to do anything. He obviously doesn't have his staff well checked out, he just throws mini-temper tantrums that nothing really changes.
I was here more for the siblings and we didn't even get to see much of them either. I don't understand why her best friend is even in the books because she just pops in to say how much she hates the guy and be generally unsupportive. Take her out and you're well on your way to getting this down to one book.
This duet is decent enough overall but not something that I have super big feelings about one way or the other.

Luna was nauseated and was throwing up. She went to the doctor and found out that she was pregnant. Mariya told Yakov about it. Yakov and Luna didn't get to about the pregnancy or celebrate it. Because men storm his heavily armed fortress of a mansion to get Luna. Mariya fought three men of Akim Gustev men but was shot and they kidnapped Luna. She was held hostage and torture in a dark, cold and damp cell half naked while she was pregnant as revenge against Yakov for revenge against his father's death. Luna was Yakov world, his future and he burn down the city and killing his way through half of Akim men to get his woman back. He then torture and Akim to put a end to century long feud. But soon as he ended Akim life his little eighteen year brother Pavel Gustev rise up and take on the mantel as the next Pakhan of the Gustev Bratva seeking revenge for his brother and father's death. Yakov had so much things on his shoulders and stress in his lifetime to deal with while putting out fire after fire. His brother Nikandr and second in command was shot and he left him on the side of the road bleeding out as he went after Akim. He thought he was dead only to find out that he was alive and is now in a medically induce coma because he coded three times and was dead but came back. His sister is suffering from a gun shot wound to the shoulder that need physical therapy. Luna is having terrible nightmares because of her ordeal from being taken torture and being stuck in that basement. She cannot sleep until she's in his arms. Yakov made his mansion impenetrable and yet still someone still got in his home to hurt his fiancée and his children. He had to move them to a safe house but Pavel men found them. As it turns out there was a traitor amongst them who was feeding Pavel information. Dr. Jenkins was working with Pavel and feeding him the information because Pavel had his family. Pavel wanted to take everything away from Yakov like he did him. Dr. Jenkins was tasked with killing Luna on the babies. But he was a afraid so he drugged her and put her to sleep. He wanted her to not feel anything. After Yakov watched is my mother grumble to floor the night his father died and he had to take her away from the hospital lifting her his arms like child. And when they got home she buried herself in the comforter and didn't get up for days. It was in that moment he decided to never give that much of himself to anyone. Because he wouldn't survive if they took it anyway. However, from the moment Luna came into his life they just clicked and had connection. Luna was the only woman who was willing to give his heart to and she was worth it. Yakov was able to ensure the safety of all his family and he and Luna got their hard fought HEA.

I agree with other reviewers in the fact that this book could have been reduced to 5 chapters and just added to the first book. This book had very predictable moments and Yakov kept saying he will protect her just for her to get hurt two chapters later in the most secure place ever 🤔
Lunas friendship with Kayla was non existent after announcing she was engaged and we never hear from her again, what happened to Lunas apt did I miss that somewhere in book 1, a fiercely independent women (or at least she was at the beginning) is fine just quitting her job no big deal? Luna has a bad relationship with her parents and hasn’t told them anything and that’s it we don’t know why or anything about it just that they aren’t close. Luna can’t leave the mansion but his sister can go to the mall (wouldn’t that sister be a bigger threat than some random blonde/gf?)
Luna was held prisoner for only a day but the storyline from her pov in those chapters made it seem like it was days (I get that to some degree that was the point, no windows etc) but why did they just keep giving her water over and over yet she ended up dehydrated.
Also the parts where Luna would be in danger than Yakov would show up just minutes before it got really bad and that happened over and over and over again just felt extremely repetitive.
Diving back into the thrilling world of the Kulikov Bratva with its second installment, we're treated to another intense chapter in the saga of Luna and Yakov. This book grabs you from the get-go, wrapping you up in a whirlwind of drama, action, suspense, betrayal, and sizzling romance that keeps you clinging to every word. It's a rollercoaster ride that amps up the stakes, pulling you closer to the characters and their perilous yet passionate journey.
Amidst the heart-pounding moments, what really adds a special touch is the banter between Yakov and Nik. It's absolutely hilarious, offering those much-needed laughs that cut through the tension and bring a sense of humanity and warmth to the story. It's these moments that remind us of the bonds between the characters, making them feel like real people navigating an extraordinary world.
As everything builds to a nail-biting conclusion, you're left feeling both thrilled and completely satisfied, yet still craving more. This series does a fantastic job of blending the dark and dangerous world of the Bratva with the lightness of genuine connection.

FYI SPOILERS..the first book was amazing however this one was not. The ending, writing and the plot were so good in the first. But the second just did not amount. To me it felt like the author was ready to be done. Luna was insufferable OMG. I wish the kidnapping lasted longer you would’ve thought she was kidnapped for days the way she was acting come to find it out it’s only a few hours. The time line being 6 months of them knowing each other, her getting pregnant, giving birth and engaged is insane. Just a big fat no should’ve been a tad bit longer. Also Yakov is toxic and not in a good morally gray way. He was overbearing, rude and did show any of the characteristics of a god morally gray mafia leader. I did enjoy mariya, Nik and the mother’s addition also the doctor had a good story too. It was just Yakov and Luna they were so insufferable and annoying i was gonna DNF it but i was too far in so i skimmed a good chunk. I think the author is good but the story line felt rushed and just overall not that great. I would recommend the first book but not the second.
This is the 2nd book in the Kulikov Bratva series featuring the deliciously dark and dangerous continuation of Yakov and Luna's page-turning mafia romance. Their story picks right up where we left off at the end of the 1st book Twilight Sins. We all know that Luna is the Queen of the Pakhan of the Kulikov Bratva and he will reign down hellfire to keep her safe. Then Luna finds out that she's pregnant and Yakov wishes that he could send her back to her old life with all the threats facing them. Before they even get a chance to celebrate Luna's pregnancy she's kidnapped. Now Yakov has to not only save his Queen but his future prince or princess that Luna's carrying. Whoever took Luna is going to regret that they were born. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this deliciously dark and dangerous continuation of Yakov and Luna's page-turning mafia romance. I would recommend reading this book.

This book picks up where book one left off and I have to say I think a fair bit of this book was very repetitive. I did like Yakov & Luna and as a couple they were good together and the story of the 2 bratvas going after each other just seemed to go on too long. Nik is such a good character and I was hoping we would see him healed and walking by the end of this book but the author kind of forgot him for a while in this book. I would have liked to know what Pavel did to Dima’s cousin so not sure if that’s in a different book from this author. I will say the Pavel threat could have been dealt with a lot faster and then concentrated on Yakov, Luna and the twins. I have downloaded the bonus epilogue so will see what happens when that comes through. Yakov was a loving partner but I think the author made him a bit to OTT when it came to Luna and her pregnancy, pregnancy isn’t an illness and women can still walk etc he went a bit OTT a few times with her even before she was massively showing.
Luna and Yakov have been through so much already when will life and their enemies stop tearing them down? Luna is fighting to stay strong for her baby and with hopes that Yakov will rescue her but she's getting weaker and weaker. Yakov is heartbroken not only needing to find Luna but after seeing his brother shot the only thing that will help is killing everybody who had a hand in this starting with the piece of shit that is laughing about shooting my brother ending with his boss. The banter chemistry and danger continue in the second book for Luna and Yakov. This book takes us on their wild ride not knowing who will survive and who will leave them forever. This book was less predictable than the last one which I enjoyed as always, I love the back and forth between all the characters, Yakov's mother is something else. I liked their story and wish we had one for his family members as well I know his sister would be hilarious. Would definitely recommend to others.
ok so the book starts off with luna still kidnapped but yakov saves her pretty quickly. nik was shot and we thought he died but he’s alive but was in a coma for most of the book. the finally kill the rival mob boss but his brother takes over and is hell bent on killing luna so luna is basically locked away. nik gets out of the coma but is paralyzed from the waist down. at the end luna delivers her two healthy babies after all the bad mob bosses are killed and they r finally safe. however this book wasn’t my fav bc i wasn’t the biggest fan of yakov. he was protecting luna i get that but completely isolated her from her friends so like huge red flag. idk he seemed like a good dad in the end but im just not a huge fan of him with luna. like she’s obsessed and gave up her whole life for him and literally was just hiding doing nothing but he was always so hot and cold with her tbh even after the got engaged and everything. idk not my fav but still finished
This second book was not for me. Luna started to sound just as crazy as Yuslav. I get it first time parents you’re gonna be over protective especially with someone out to get your family. The plot made me anxious. It triggered my anxiety because they sounded delusional af. The only characters that I liked were Nik and Aunt MarMar. The over protectiveness started to read suffocating. Luna while I understand had some type of PTSD I would have liked for her to have a freaking backbone. She needed something interesting then always getting into trouble with no sense of direction in this life that she chose after she fell in love with this very obviously dangerous man. I’m all a damsel in distress, but all she was good for was fucking and being a prisoner. That’s literally all. Honestly didn’t like the story.
Twilight Tears picks up where Book 1 left off, with Mariya and Nikandr both injured and Luna in the hands of Akim. Yakov comes to the rescue for all and eventually gets his lady back. Afterward, he works desperately to take out what is left of Akim's organization while keeping his now fiancé safe. Luna settles in better to her life with Yakov but years for safety, stability and more freedom. The book overall is engaging, suspenseful and full of spice. I became less of a fan of the main characters in this book, however...Yakov was just a bit over the top for me and Luna was too much of a pushover. I also felt like this book could have wrapped up a lot faster than it did, however, it did do so nicely.

I am new to this author and I also like long reads. This is a long read. Actually you need a commitment if you are going to read the duet as both is almost a thousand pages. If you like novel type reads you’ll love this. This story is the second part titled Twilight Tears and it starts up where book one left off with a cliffhanger. Luna and Yakov’s story continues. We all know that Luna is the Queen of the Pakhan of the Kulikov Bratva and he will reign down hellfire to keep her safe. When Luna learns she’s pregnant the threats are 10 fold and she is kidnapped and Yakov has to not only save his Queen but their child. Delightfully dark. Loved it.

She is the queen to his king...and he will do anything to protect her
Twilight Tears is the second book in the Kulikov Bratva duet. This book continues the story of Luna McCarthy and Yakov Kulikov from the cliffhanger ending in Twilight Sins. The roller-coaster ride for Luna is in full swing, with lots of twists and turns along the way. These two may be king and queen but that does not mean they will have an easy time of things getting to the point where they can ride off in the sunset to a HEA. Well that may never really happen anyways but this book keeps you hoping they can get there finally. This was a great continuation to the story and I loved just who Luna is and how Yakov loves everything about her.
• First person dual POV • Second in a duet • Russian mafia boss • Protective MMC • Pregnancy trope
• This should have been one book. I held out for it to get interesting but the storyline became cyclical and uninteresting once Luna was saved — for the second time in similar circumstances. • I get suspended reality, but the FMC has nothing going for her by this book — her only friend has disappeared from the storyline, she’s given up her entire life to be with a (seemingly awful at his job) mafia boss, but has no redeeming qualities/factors herself.
⚠️ Violence/gun violence (explicit), medical trauma (explicit), death of a parent (past), death (explicit), sexual assault (moderate), kidnapping, pregnancy, torture (explicit), toxic relationship.
I couldn't put it down the story just makes you keep tuning pages. Luna is definitely Yakov's queen, she has all the faith in the world for him and believes in him, she will always choose him just like Yakov will destroy and burn the world to ashes for her. They can try but their love can't be destroyed. This story is full of drama, emotion, action and danger . There's one thing after another and surprise upon surprise. The betrayal is uncovered, retribution is achieved, the mole and who it turns out to be is surprising.

The conclusion to the Kulikov Bratva duet is OUTSTANDING! Yakov and Luna’s journey to happiness was definitely not an easy one. This couple will fight for love and family. The deep and intense chemistry between Yakov and Luna is flaming hot!! Together they concur the threats against them and strengthen their bond to each other and their family. I really enjoyed the strong family dynamics involved in Yakov and Luna’s fascinating and captivating story. Every moment of this book is interesting and engaging. What a dramatic and heartwarming mafia romance to lose yourself into.

I enjoyed this book. I loved the storyline and the characters were awesome. Luna finds that she's pregnant with Yakov's baby and he finds out from his sister that Luna needs a doctor. Yakove finds out that Luna is pregnant. He will do whatever it takes to keep her and the baby safe. They grow as a couple facing betrayal, lies, and secrets. They grow in strength when they are together. Will Yakov save his queen and baby from the same man who killed his father? Can they find some calm and happiness while being in the bratva? I loved the story.

If you’ve ever read a mafia romance book with a trope, you have read this book. Nothing new is being done here…
That being said, I have some thoughts - Everyone was giving Yakov a hard time for keeping Luna and Mariya on lockdown, but it honestly seemed logical to me????? - Luna wasn’t a great friend to Kayla, but she was a worse friend to Luna. Why did Kayla keep setting Luna on blind dates with ACTUALLY DANGEROUS people? And then she’s all judgy of Luna staying with Yakov - Yakov. Learn to share. Jesus Christ. People just want to know what is going on, they’re not asking for you to bare your soul. - Mariya grew on me but she still needs to pipe the fuck down - Nik can do no wrong. My sweet baby boy
When I started reading this book it was a good time, the idea seemed original and it was STEAMY! But as I read on, the book started to get really familiar, like Nicole Fox’s Midnight Purgatory that I read a few short months ago. I didn’t want to assume it was a copied concept so I checked when it came out and lo and behold its brand new! Now I’m not trying to call anyone out, but the books were so similar I knew who the leak was since the first book! I don’t like the unoriginal concept but I kept it pushing to the end just to see if there was something different and sadly was disappointed
This is the concluding book of the 2 book series. It's just as exciting and enthralling as book 1. I highly recommend this story (both books). The story is well written, the characters are well developed, the twists and turns unexpected and keep you captive. You can't help but care for the main characters and truly invest in their story, ups and downs. The spicy parts are just as good as the other parts is the book. Highly, highly recommend this series. This author is a superb writer, plot is never boring, writer's descriptive ability is above average. My favorite by this author thus far. I can see rereading series many times.
This one moved at a much faster pace! There’s so much at play in this one and the MMC has so much on his plate! With his 2nd down trying to protect everyone. There is no room for mistakes, but seriously how much can one person do with no sleep.
The MFC she has been through a lot! A world she wasn’t born into and now she has to accept. The sister is an amazing support! She was getting there towards the end of the last book, but she is definitely one of my favorites in this book! Her best friend has her selfish moments but listens.
So many twists in this one who can they trust?! I highly recommend this duet!
This is the continuation of Yakov and Luna’s intense story from Twilight Sins. Luna is pregnant with Yakov babies. She had been taken by Akim who was responsible for killing Yakov’s father. There is intrigue, tension, revenge and heartbreaking moments. Will Yakov save Luna? Who bis the traitor? Will Yakov and Luna welcome their babies? Will Yakov and Luna find love and happiness amidst chaos? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book via Booksprout.
