…the reality, Carrie finds out, isn't exactly a fairy tale.
Carrie Whitmore, aspiring journalist, wakes up after a building collapse to find herself in a world where she is a spoiled, bratty princess engaged to a self-indulgent egomaniac. She has no college education and no friends at all. Carrie finds out that "she" wants nothing to do with the crown after the death of her brother and is happy being bitter, cruel and reclusive.
But that's the old Princess Barbara, lost in the tragic accident that slipped Carrie into the Princess's life. Carrie must change the way the people of the Nation perceive her. Her journey to learn who she is in this new world and to deal with the twists and turns of her unwillingly adopted life will change her perception of everything and everyone around her.
And maybe, just maybe, she'll get the fairy tale princess ending every little girl dreams of.
Author a few poems here and there and several intermittently updated blogs, she lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and three cats. Chatter box, compulsive writer, bon vivant, stunt commuter, and a ninja in her dreams, J. Rose enjoys losing herself in the capes and masks of her superheroes and is always on the look out for a new adventure, on the page or in real life.
A full length, joy to read novel. Action packed, engaging, brow raising, good read. Not my normal romance type read, thoroughly enjoyed Carries' story. A dramatic opening, finds Carrie in a different parallel time, same people, but different circumstance, giving Carrie chance to undo some bad, re-write her own history, and right situations. Finding herself, her role, love and real friends along the way. A great book.
It took me only 2 days to finish this wild and amazing book! The characters are real in this fantasy story of an American princess discovering who she really is. I will be looking forward to the next installment.
Fantasy Shadow in Glass is the story of Carrie Whitmore who is a journalist and caught in a building that experienced an explosion, her life takes a turn when she wakes up and realizes that she is a princess in another world and time.
Carrie learns that the person she was up until this point was not a pleasant person and that she is learning to become not only a good princess, but to become a Queen the nation can rely and believe in. She struggles thru the loss of loved ones as well as the gain of people that will help her become the woman she is destined to be. Maybe get the fairy tale princess ending every little girl dreams of.
Shadow in Glass was an interesting book to read, I enjoyed seeing how current events were implemented in the story. I really liked Carrie and how she worked on becoming a better person in the life that she woke up too, how she was able to adjust and accept that the life she was given is the reality instead of a dream.
I loved the interaction she had with her friends and especially the relationship she has with Jason, that after all her search she was able to love the man that would be good for her.
This was a really good read! The plot continued to kept me going and never let go of it's hold on me.
The story of Carrie waking up to find herself as heir to the throne of America (love that America is a Kingdom by the way, lol) and trying to fudge her way into her new reality is quite entertaining! I really enjoyed her finding "herself", which really is finding a way to mix the two personalities.
I loved all the characters and felt really attached to everyone. Maryann, Emma, Jason, Terry, Richard, and especially the sassy Sierra (and I totally wanna hear more of her and Grey!!).
One of the many things I enjoyed about this book besides the story was the length of it. It tells Carrie's story more in depth and you get to know the other characters just as much as the main ones. Carrie is taken from her own world and hurled into what seems an alternate universe. She embraces it and makes the best out of her situation. She betters herself, those around her,and the lives of her people. I highly recommend it..
I thought this was a pretty good read. The storyline was solid, it was the characters that I had a problem with. I felt no connection, they just fell flat for me. I will come back to Shadow in Glass and see if I like it better after a reread.
I was given a free copy Via The Dog Days of Summer Reading Challenge. To be come a princess, every girls dream and when it happens is that really going to be a dream or a nightmare? Great read, lots of Teenage drama.
