This book has rhyme which children need to learn about. Rhyming helps children predict what the next word might me. It also talks about a loon and how it fly south for the winter. Students can learn about other birds that fly south for the winter.

A girl shares her fascination with a mysterious loon who inhabits the lake near her summer cabin. Everyday facts about these charismatic birds are shared in the text.

Veg*n parents note: there is a scene with the girl fishing, and returning with a full net to her cabin.
