From REMINGTON KANE, the author of The TANNER Series REDEMPTION - Someone’s taken her...Someone has abducted television star Kelly Rogers, and the police and the FBI both believe that it was Jake Shelton. And Jake can’t really blame them, after all, he’s done it before.Ten months earlier, their meteoric love affair ended with Jake taking Kelly hostage and threatening to kill anyone who dared try to separate them. When the chaos of that day ended, there were five innocent people dead, and Jake Stelton was in jail awaiting trial for murder. His lawyer assured him that his record as a war hero would gain him little favor in the wake of five dead bodies, and that an emotionally shattered Kelly Rogers would gladly testify against him, and had in fact, already told the police about his increasingly bizarre behavior in the days leading up to the killings.Things looked dim for Jake, that is, until they discovered the tumor.A leading brain surgeon testified that the tumor found growing inside Jake’s skull was the culprit that propelled him to such violent and paranoid behavior. It was this testimony that set him free. His freedom meant little, because Kelly wanted nothing to do with him. Her love for him could not overcome her fear of him, so Jake retired to his farm, to live out his life alone. But someone has taken Kelly Rogers, someone has taken the woman he loves and put her life on the line, and Jake Stelton has made a vow to find her, to save her, and possibly, to even find redemption.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Like his worst nightmare repeating itself, Jake Stelton’s life is about to spiral completely out of control again. He had murdered, five times. He had kidnapped his famous girlfriend in order to keep them together forever. He was going to be sent to prison and would gladly go, until they found the tumor. There was a reason for his bizarre behavior, a massive tumor growing in his brain had turned him into a monster, and so, he was not guilty. Of course that didn’t bring those five souls back to life, it didn’t bring his girlfriend back and it didn’t stop the screaming guilt he felt for the havoc he had caused.
Now living alone, trying to stay separate from society and prying eyes, Jake is back in the hot seat because Kelly has been kidnapped again. Of course he is the first person everyone turns to, but it wasn’t him. Now he must stay free and discover who is trying to frame him while saving Kelly and finding his own form of REDEMPTION for himself.
Donald Wells has written a gritty and dark tale over-flowing with suspense and razor taut tension as a man on the emotional edge of ending it all finds a reason to live, if only for a while. A collection of characters revolve in and out of the story creating a touch of chaos. In the background, we know there is someone with a vendetta against Jake, but who is it? How can Jake prove this stranger exists? The world is against him…and time is running out.
A good read that has an excellent pace and a chaotic feel. There were times I would have liked a touch more detail, but all in all, this suspense is a keeper!

Wow....this book is intense. I read it in one sitting... I just couldn't put it down! Great suspense, keeps you guessing and non-stop action. Good read.
This standalone KU Library read features a former war hero who's behavior is altered by a brain tumor. He takes his former girlfriend captive and in his paranoia, he kills five people. After the tumor is discovered and removed, he is found innocent and released. But now, a year later, his ex has been taken again and the FBI believes he is behind the kidnapping. And they aren't the only ones after him, though, because someone is setting him up as the kidnapper. This is a non-stop action packed thriller that was impossible to put down once I started it. It's a quick read and is well worth the time.
I have read all of the Tanner series & the Taken series but I honestly think Redemption is my favorite. This book was Mr Kane at his best. I now plan to read some of his other stand alone book. This is a MUST READ
Another great read by Remington Kane! This was an action packed adventure, based on love and redemption. If you are a fan of Kane, this is one for you!
Very intense read as always the characters are well formed plenty of action well worth a read . Mr Kane sure knows how to express characters feelings .
Jake killed people and took his firlfriewnd hostage. In the end, doctors found out his irrational behavior was due to a tumor. So he got off. But now, someone has kidnapped Kelly and framed him, so the FBI is focused on him. So, Jake does everything in his power to find Kelly before it's too late.
This book was really good; very suspenseful. I got kind of confused with all of the characters names, and the different points of view, but I was still able to follow along. The story was well written, and flowed wonderfully. I did, however, have a problem with the ending. It just stopped. I would have liked a little more explanation. And the things that happened to Kelly were painful to read about. And lastly, I would have liked more details on what happened before the story with regards to his killing and hold Kelly hostage...maybe in a prologue. Or really even in another book, because it sounds interesting enough to have it's own book.
Kane introduces you to Jake Stelton, who's background includes the wanton shooting of five women! Medical doctor's examination of Jake revealed a benign tumor in his brain which short circuited his sense of right and wrong. Authorities still want Jake behind bars or dead because his old girlfriend, Kelly goes missing and feared killed by Jake. Jake's self-esteem is so low, he's ready to end his own life, but suddenly finds himself unable to pull the trigger. He decides that his only choice is to find Kelly before the authorities find him. You'll be a page turner because the action is fast and fierce. Thanks for another great read.
I listened to this story more than I read it and it was good. I like that he added humor to the story and glad Jake was finally cleared and reunited with Kelly. I would recommend this book but I was a little disappointed the that narration was cut off before the end of the book. I think the last 4 or 5 paragraphs were cut off in the audiobook - luckily I was reading along with the narration at the end of the book so I continued reading until the end of the book.
