Aliens or Nukes
As I've been progressing through the series things are getting more and more dangerous to be at an well not only in your own home but out in public as well.
As I'm coming down to continue with book 4 things go from bad to much worse and it is so overwhelming you're not really sure what to think I'm not sure how I would feel about it at this point other than being scared to death.
With all hopes going to the positive I hope in our lifetime we never see anything like this actually happened although it is a real possibility as time as progressed with things that we've seen on TV from Horace to whatever it's kind of odd that we have found animals plants etc that tend to look a lot like these creatures that we see or have seen over the years if it's not kind of freaky I don't know what is.

Meh
The story continues, but for me, this was the "Bud Light" of the series so far. Not as much action as I'd like, and... the worst ending ever! I guess I'll read Book 4, but I hope its the "Brewmeister's Snake Venom" of the series.

A good continuation..
I really enjoy reading this series and seeing the different perspectives. While aliens isn't my first genre to pick I do like how they are being portrayed here and the outcome. There was a strong family theme throughout the different stories. Martin and his Dad, Felix and his Mom and Tim and his daughter.

Even an invasion has family drama...
Characters:
This one had a LOT less characters and mainly just focused on two people - Felix and Martin. Felix is not the most exciting main character compared to Tim or Veronica. He is a little mousy and naive, and he doesn't seem to show much in terms of character progression. Miriam is with him throughout this story and she is a very complex woman who is much smarter than she is given credit for. Gerard appears halfway through and is the "villain" of the story being paranoid and a firm believer of conspiracies. He seems to be both dangerous and friendly, switching between both easily. Martin is a fun character that I enjoyed reading, but it was cut too short, and I am not sure if it added much if it is only going to be a few chapters - it felt like filler.
Storyline:
This one was a lot more laid-back than the first two, other than the 2 or 3 chapters at the clinic where Martin is, there is no action, no tension, and not really any progression with the aliens. It felt as if it was just a book for dialogue and family drama, the main focal point of the story took a backseat. It was not unpleasant but it did feel that there were a lot of filler chapters. It also started with quite an intriguing premise with Tim/Helena - but then we hear nothing of them at all until the last chapter, it just felt a little slow.
Pacing/writing:
Writing style was as good as ever, although there are still instances of characters names changing one chapter to the next, and there are a few typos. I do feel the pace had some lag, and it never really took off.
Ending:
The ending was okay, I get it has left a lot of things possible for the future and there are a few characters who could make a recurring appearance, but it wasn't as thrilling as the last book, and I didn't feel an instant urge to pick up the next book (even though it isn't out for 2 weeks).
Emotional impact:
Other than Martin and his Dad - there wasn't really any sense of danger or emotion throughout this one, it felt a little emotionless, actually.
Not the best in the series, but I will definitely keep going.

Audiobook: I enjoyed this book as much as the others in the series. Once the audiobook started, I had to listen until the end without stopping as I was so engrossed I had to know what would happen next. There were moments where I sat on the edge of my seat. There were some moments of joy. I'm looking forward to the next book. I thought that Spencer Dillehay's narration was the icing on the cake as his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Changes

I absolutely love Nicks work, I Always buy his books as soon as they drop. In my opinion all his books are spot on, I love his writing style, he has a wonderful way of weaving character stories together so that paths cross. There is plenty of action and suspense, perfect about of detail in his descriptions, I can't wait to see where this series of books goes.
