I read this so quickly that my emotions are scrambled by the action in this novella. I’m sorry if my review is as chaotic as my mind right now after finishing this book.
Having more information on what happens to Omar, Santi and Beth after the events of SOTM was something I was really looking forward to. I found rather than finding out what happens to them, I got to know their characters a lot more and see them as their own people rather than side characters. I absolutely love Santi and his pessimist inner dialog along with this relationship with Omar.
I’m all for LGBTQIA representation in literature! ❤️
I’m very excited to see Beth grow and become as strong as she wants to be as well as the potential relationship Nat may or may not have hinted at. The emotions and trauma she’s been through are so weak written I wanted to cry for her.
I only wish there was more. I ate this up so quickly and could’ve done with more pages.
I hated the cliffhanger at the end that leads on to HOTM. It hurt me turning the page and finding out I have to wait until Heart of the Mocking Bird to find out what happens. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. 100% recommend! If you love thrillers and dynamic characters it is the book for you!

As always I love Nats books! I lived hearing the journey of Omar, Santi and Beth! I can't wait for her next book in the series with all these characters 😍
