Nikki's character teaches young teens to handle bullying in a more mature and civilized way. There are times that Nikki thinks that she just let Mackenzie do whatever she wants with her. But in the eyes of an adult, we could see that she's acting appropriately on handling this kind of bullying rather than taking revenge.
This book was a pretty good! It was a little overdramatic in some parts though. I think the title fits the book well! It says "Tales from a Not-So-Popular Party Girl," and it is about a girl named Nikki, who is unpopular, setting up a Halloween party for her school. She must make a dance for the students in her school. I think this book title suits the book well also, because "Dork Diaries" is a good name for a unpopular girl writing a diary. If I had to be one of the characters in this book it would be Brianna, Nikki's little sister. Her sister and her make squirt guns to kill the tooth fairy, because Brianna is afraid of the tooth fairy. It sounds like Brianna is a funny little squirt too! She annoys her sister sometimes, but it's funny. She is a fun character in this book. This book made me laugh, laugh in pity of some of the characters, and frown. I laughed at some parts of this book, like when Brianna wanted to kill the tooth fairy. I laughed in pity at some parts when she said "Mackenzie", the mean girl,"is such a jerk! I HATE HER!" That was a little too overdramatic! I also frowned when some parts of this book didn't make sense. Overall this was a pretty good book!
Dork Diaries is an amazing series. I like this book because, your life might be like Nikki's when you're a teenager. For example, Nikki tries to be at 2 parties at the same time. That might be something you might do. Sometimes it's okay to just please one person instead of everybody at the same time. Another reason I like this book is because it's really funny. There's more funny parts in one chapter than in any of the other books I've read. The last reason I like this book is because it teaches life lessons. I love this book and you will too.
Okay this was actually really cute. Especially the friendship between Nikki, Chloe and Zoe. The whole last 60% of the book was solely about the anhual Halloween dance and not gonna lie that was entertaining as hell to watch. The last 50 pages were so cutee
Nikki is A LOT better than she was in the first book. Definitely more mature and far less whiny. She's still annoying, but in a way you'd expect a dramatic 8th grader to be so I'll just let it slide.
Brandon, Chloe and Zoey also got a bit more fleshed out. Glad for that.
Also I'm glad the Tooth Fairy issue got resolved. I don't know if it's just me but it always got on my nerves. I'm SO glad it didn't become a punchlineesque joke thing for 13 books straight. Now can we please have new issues?
Anywaysss I'm now starting to see why MacKenzie's behavior is considered questionable lol, but I'd still REALLY love to see her vampire costume in real life. It looked awesome
The second of the Dork Diaries books, Rachel Renee Russell hit a whole in one again with her equally, funny, purple-covered female version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Nikki's tween voice rings true yet again with her worries about being popular, the craziness of her family and friends, and the troubles she has with mean girl Mackenzie (I just HATE when she sashays!) and her oh-so-adorable crush Brandon. 4/5 because, like Dork Diaries #1, this book is truthful, happy and easy to understand, while also being funny and a correct portrayal of a 13ish year old's life. Now all they have to do is make a movie of the series, right? That's what they did with Diary of a Wimpy Kid! Why not, hey?
When I look at this book/series and what the people usually says about it, how they compare with Diary of a Wimpy Kid I'm like: THIS IS 100% UNACCEPTABLE & TOTALLY NONSENSE!
I am not telling that the Dork Diaries are bad because they aren't bad (they are actually pretty good) HOWEVER is a lot distinct from the Wimpy Kid books.
First of all we have a dramatic female main character named Nikki whose on the 1st book started school on a private one (side note: her family isn't rich as the others of her new school. can you already see that most of her problems is because of this?!)
Secondly and sadly, (personally) is not as fun as it was supposed to be.
When I go back to Wimpy Kid I can notice that their books can be read for girls and boys and be appreciated by both genres in equal parts. Dork Diaries is more for girls than everything. But if you have a boy that had liked the sinopsis and is intrigued, I don't see why not give him the book that he want.
The worse thing about Dork Diaries is how Nikki (the MC) repeats at every single book (that I read) the same mantra/sentence: ''But I just said it inside my head, so no one else heard it but me.''
At the end, I recommend them because when I'm in the proper mood I enjoy the stories.
Nikki Maxwell's troubles are far from over! Mackenzie has invited her to her birthday party again! But this time she actually goes just so she can talk to Brandon and hopefully get him to invite her to the Halloween party! But before she can even talk to him Mackenzie bullies her into leaving the party :( The next big party coming up is the Halloween party, and Nikki, Zoey, and Chloe have agreed to be on the planning committee – which really only means that if the party fails they'll be the one's the whole school blames! One Halloween party quickly turns into three – how is Nikki supposed to be in three places at once?
I know I said the first book was pretty terrible, but I already had the second one checked out from the library, as well as a beautiful sunny day so I decided to go ahead and read it on the back deck. I didn't find it to be as annoying to read as the first, but the writing was still very ditzy!
I loved how this book was written in 2010 and is supposed to be from the perspective of a 14 year old girl obsessed with fashion and getting the latest iPhone, and yet she also dreamed of having a DVD/VCR in her locker! I don't know anyone under 20 who even knows what a VHS is.
Nicki the sweet, nice, hard working, plus artistic seventh grader that no ones pay's attention to ,trying stay out of drama finds her self lost in middle school. But it's hard with her her two crazy friends Zoey and Chloe and the most popular girl in school that Nicki hate's and she hate's Nicki back , Makinze ! Rich for some rising was out to make Nicki's life miserable one way or another. However Nicki forgets about everything accept for her crush Brandon witch Nicki goes crazy over every time she's around him or speck's to him.But will Nicki find her self into drama or middle school.
The lesson that I learned from this book is that it OK to be yourself and don't let people bring you down or get to you .Because if you do then you'll give the person who's making you feel bad and get to you. Cause then you give that person the satisfaction plus your want that power and you don't.
I recommend this book to any girl who like the catty , drama, and who like a girl character and who likes the whole romance thing and if you just feel like having a good laugh about girl problems.
This book 📖 was OK and I liked it a little. I did not like the end tho to much. It was just the same thing over and over. I give this 3 stars ⭐️! Shelby wanted me to put emojis so here you go: 🤮😵💫😶🌫️🤯🫥🥺🥸☠️👺
Summary…. Dork Diaries: Tales from a not-so Popular Party Girl is about a girl named Nikki. It is basically a girl’s diary. It talks about her crush, her enemy, her sister, and about what’s going on in her life. Her life I very crazy and interesting. She has to deal with being three different things in one night. She has to be at a birthday party, a Halloween party dressed as trash bags with her friends, and the same Halloween party, but dressed as a princess with her date Brandon. Brandon is her crush and he asked her to the dance. She has to run back and forth getting changed. Main Characters…. Nikki and Mackenzie are the main characters. Mackenzie is Nikki’s enemy. Mackenzie is always trying to get Nikki, she made her wear a dirty rat costume. Nikki does not like Mackenzie because she is always mean to her. Setting…. The setting of this book is in a lot of places. One place is Nikki’s school. A few other places are Nikki’s house and the zoo. The zoo is wear she had to go to the dance at dressed in a rat costume. Conflict…. One conflict is that she needs to be two places at once. Dressed in three different costumes. She has to go back and forth. She was supposed hang out with her friends and her date at the dance [which is one of the places she needed to be]. Resolution…. She fixes her problem by running where she needs to go. She has to run from building to building. Nikki gets dressed in the bathrooms. She has to make up excuses, like “I have to use the bathroom. I will be back.” Or “I’m going to go get more food”. Opinion…. My opinion on this book is that it is an entertaining book. It is an easy read. If you want a quick book read this book. If you have read the other Dork Diaries books you should read this one. Recommendation…. I recommend this book because it is fun to read. If you like funny books you should read this one. I know that you will like this book. In Dork Dairies you get to read someone else’s life and go through it with them.
their were three girls and the were in middle school and Nikki and she got something in the school and her lock had a TV and all the kids were by her locker and friends was not talk to her and she had a crush on the guy name Brandon and in science he ask her if he would be his parent and then their was a school dance and her and her friends met in the janger room to talk.
Nikki she was the girl who got a TV in he locker
Chloe she got a guy and they went to the dance
Zoey she was not very unpopular girl but she was the most
the setting in the book was in school
conflict in school were Nikki Chloe and Chloe were not talking to each other for a week
they girls put a not in Nikki locker go met where we also me at
what the did to resolution was they put the note in her locker and tell her where to me at
what was descriptive word in the story are they told Nikki where to met at and why they want to met her where the dance was who was helping at the dance
the main idea was that Nikki was suppose to be cool and i think to teach the girl and less and they were not all to talk to the girl and then the girls gave Nikki a note in her locker
my opinion is that i think it was for girl s in the 6th grade who was going though staff like if people were begin mean to her
my recommendation is the most action in the book was when bradon ask will you be my parten
the supporting details are when they stop talking and i saw the note in her locker that they want to start talking to Nikki again
This book picks up where the first one left off, which I think is great because I feel that we get to know Nikki Maxell better with each book and they don't feel rushed. I feel that I could be reading a 14 year old's diary. So this book is about overcoming a BIG obstacle after Mackenzie decides to ruin the Halloween Dance. Nikki and her new friends come together to make the Halloween party happen, but Nikki also double books herself helping out another party. What's a girl to do with two parties to attend, a mean girl that will stop at nothing to make her life hell, a cute crush that asks her to the dance and two krazy friends that she is still getting to know? Well you'll have to find out like I did by reading the book.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO YOUNG READERS AND ALL YOUNG AT HEART READERS ALIKE!
“"Shake your groove thing, shake your groove thing, yeah, yeah," and then you just repeat those words 1,962 times until the song is over.”
Just like the first book, Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Popular Party Girl was comedic, adorable and quite relatable! I was relieved to find that this book explored different aspects of Nikki's life that we hadn't seen before rather than bringing us through situations that would make it a slightly tweaked version of the first book. I adored how everything in the book led up to the dance with Nikki being put in some pretty awkward yet hilarious situations.
If you liked the first book, I recommend continuing with the Dork Diaries series because it does not disappoint!
I decided to dive in and try one of these since they are so popular. I was disappointed. The characters are all so boring and formulaic with "mean girls" who are over-the-top and such contrived drama on every page. Then there is the random weird stuff (like going to a funeral of someone her parents don't even know and hiccuping through the whole thing) where our main character embarrasses herself, again. I don't even like the illustrations that make the girls look all doe-eyed, big-haired, skinny, and in general all glamoured out.
If you are looking for a great "girl" diary skip these and read something with substance like the Popularity Papers.
The first book was just as good as this one!! I am telling you, Rachel can make these books pretty dramatic. I love how she has a way of grabbing someones attention while reading these. These books are so exciting I'm already reading the third one. I can't wait to see what Rachel's books are do to my emotions next!
It is a good book that I liked just as much as the first Dork Diaries. It is funny and could actually happen in real life. I think that some people might like it but not everybody.
OMG! I don´t even know why I tried to read this series again! The amount of drama these people experience in each book - crazy!
Now, in all books like this there is a main ¨mean girl¨ of the story. In this story Mackenzie Hollister is that girl. We are made to feel like she is making Nikki´s life a horrable I mean she does - kinda, but then Nikki insults her every second page and calls her a dumb person. For example, in all of the books so far she compares her like this: Mackenzie = A boa constrictor with a lip gloss adiction How are we going to feel sorry for Nikki now - espacially when she trash talks almost everyone in her diary. Personally Nikki is more toxic then Mackenzie. And in Nikki´s own words: It´s the understatement of the century. I mean I´m not jealous or anything ´cause how juvinile would that be?
