Stolen by the Mountain Man: A Steamy Instalove Romance

Rate this book
He's expecting to marry her sister. A last-minute switcheroo has him getting more than he bargained for.

I've fallen in love with my sister's fiancé.

Okay, so technically, he doesn't qualify as a fiancé since they've never met in person. But they've been messaging on this website for lonely mountain men, where it's understood that you're going to get married...eventually.

The time has come, but my sister chickened out. She tried to dump him, but I intercepted the message. And now I'm going in my sister's place. We look alike, but I'm a little younger. Some makeup and the right clothes, and I can definitely pass for four years older.

I just hope he isn't mad when he finds out the truth.

Stolen by the Mountain Man is an OTT age gap romance featuring an alpha hero and V-card heroine. It’s designed to be read in only 90 minutes. It's part of the Mountain Man Mail Order Bride series, featuring standalone books from 15 of your favorite steamy instalove romance authors!

Stolen by the Mountain Man is part of the multi-authored Mountain Man Mail Order Bride Series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, opposites-attract, mail order bride, hidden identity, curvy girl gets her mountain man romance. Helena is a 23 year old sweet and curvy freelance designer. Isaac is a hunky ex-military man turned logger. Isaac was talking to Daphne, Helena's older sister on the dating site, but she decided to dump him. Helena already had a crush on him, so she decided to take her sister's place. Helena and Isaac hit it off and have insane chemistry. But what will happen when he finds out the truth? Luckily, there is just some minor angst before we get a very happy ending. I loved it.

Due to this being a short novella the author has had to speed up and condense her storyline. That being said this is a well written story that manages to guide the reader through Helena and Issacs love story. I didn't think I'd enjoy the plot as much as I did. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Deceiving the Mountain Man . . .

Isaac is a mountain man who has been corresponding with Helena’s sister Daphne over the past six weeks through Mountain Mates, a mail order bride website. He will actually be meeting Helena today, not Daphne who has backed out of the mail order bride situation. Daphne had only signed up in anger when her boyfriend broke up with her. So Helena has been forwarding the continuing email correspondence to a hidden folder so her sister didn’t find them in her account. And as she had helped her check over her “goodbye” email, she changed the address so he would not receive Daphne’s “dump” message, and will be pretending to be her older sister as she meets Isaac Thorpe for the first time. Hopefully he will fall for her in their trial week and won’t be angry at the deception once it’s all settled. But Daphne was a nurse and Helena was a graphic design artist, so she had to remember to stay in character as they shared information about each other.

Stepping out on the sidewalk at the airport, her dream man was standing there. She wasn’t sure whether to shake his hand or hug him since she wasn’t even experienced at dating. He also seemed a bit nervous since he had gotten involved in this through a dare from his former military buddies. He had only spoken to Daphne on the phone once, so Helena hoped he would not remember what she sounded like. But he noticed her cringe when he mentioned this was a perfect town for an old folks’ home. He already felt that “Daphne” was the woman he had always longed for, the one he had been searching for all his life. But a surprise was on the way when the real Daphne used their locator app and arrived at Isaac’s cabin! Helena was ready to hustle her sister out to a restaurant to avoid the inevitable confrontation, but then decided she owed both of them the truth as Isaac entered the room. Will he be able to forgive the deception? How will Daphne react to her sister’s “betrayal”? Has she just destroyed her chance of a HEA with a man she truly does love?

**Switch with My Sister**

"Stolen by the Mountain Man" by Lilah Hart is the 15th book in the charming Mountain Man Mail Order Bride series, featuring a lineup of talented authors just in time for Valentine’s Day!

The story begins with Isaac, who, on a dare, signs up for a dating site that caters specifically to mail-order brides. This is where he meets Daphne, Helena’s older sister. After chatting for about six weeks via email, they’re excited about Daphne visiting soon for their wedding. But there’s a twist—Daphne supposedly sent Isaac a “Dear John” email four weeks ago! So, who is he really picking up at the airport?

Here’s where it gets interesting: as soon as Helena sees Isaac’s picture, she knows she’s smitten with her sister’s fiancé. In a playful move, she hijacks Daphne's “Dear John” email and starts chatting with Isaac instead. For the past month, she’s been getting to know him as if she were her sister. Now, as she steps off the plane pretending to be Daphne, she faces the tricky task of revealing her true identity.

When they finally meet, the chemistry and attraction are palpable, especially during their fun role-playing golf game after dinner! Yet, the big question remains: will Helena find the right moment to confess that she’s not really Daphne?

This fast-paced story had me hooked from the start, and I found myself laughing out loud more than once. It’s a delightful instalove tale that you won’t want to miss!

Real Daphne or imposter Daphne?

Helena is a fraud. Her sister, Daphne, had been corresponding with Isaac by email after meeting him on the Mountain Mates app, an app to find brides. She had accepted his proposal and was supposed to come for a face-to-face meeting with him, but chickened out. She planned to send him a breakup email, but Helena couldn't stand the thought of that. She changed the email address from Isaac Thorpe to Isaac Thorp.

Now she's going to impersonate her sister for a week. They looked similar, but at twenty-three she was four years younger, and unlike her size ten sister, she barely fit into her size fourteen clothes. She was happy with her curves, but would Isaac? In a week she'll either be engaged to Isaac or going home to fess up to what she'd done.

Isaac had been dared to sign up on the Mountain Mates app by his fellow former veteran friends. He'd done that but declared he'd never fall in love with a woman without meeting her in person first. But after exchanging emails and pictures with Daphne, he broke his rule. He didn't realize that the last two weeks of their six weeks of emails were from Helena, not Daphne. He'd had some doubts about her until meeting her.

Things were working out well for them until Daphne showed up and he learned the whole truth.

"... maybe we should try out the goods before we seal the deal."

Stolen by the Mountain Man by Lilah Hart is part of the multi-author Mountain Man Mail Order Bride series. I enjoyed this story about Helena and Isaac so much. Isaac signed up for the Mountain Mates site and was matched with Daphne. Now Daphne is Helena's older sister. She had signed up for the site after ending a seven year relationship and making a rushed decision to get back at her ex. But a month into emailing with Isaac and Daphne realized she was making the wrong decision to be engaged to him. So she sent one last email to break up with him. What no one realizes was Helena has fallen hard for Isaac the first time she saw his picture and then crushed on him even more over the next four weeks. So when Daphne went to send that last email Helena made a few switches and for the next two weeks she was the one that was emailing with Isaac. Then when it came time to visit Isaac Helena stepped in once again and Daphne transferred her ticket to her. There is an instant connection between Helena and Isaac but what will happen when he finally discovers just who is actually is, and not the woman who he is engaged to?

Daphne and Issac planned on marriage but Daphne sent an email to break up… but did she. Helena had other plans…

Helena is stealing Daphne, her older sister’s, fiancé. Helena and Daphne are opposites. Helena volunteered to take Daphne’s place. Daphne promised to marry Issac Thorpe and then changed her mind. Helena tricked Daphne, and the break up email was sent to the wrong address. Helena changed her appearance to look more like Daphne. Helena planned on Issac falling in love with her and they marry or she is going back to Philadelphia. Issac was dared by his friends to sign up for Mountain Mates and surprised himself with falling in love with someone online. Issac has been emailing Helena, not Daphne, for the past weeks. Helena recently graduated with degree in graphic design. They share a laptop and Helena uses it every day and all day. It was easy for Helena to contact Issac. Issac picked up Helena from the airport and then they went to Seduction Summit. He has lived there for 3 years and is a military veteran. Issac lives in a beautiful log cabin with a large backyard.

You have to read what happens when Issac learns the truth! You will not be disappointed! ;-)

Helena couldn't stand the thoughts of the mountain that she had a huge crush on from the moment she saw his picture get cast aside, so she did the unthinkable and impersonated her sister, Daphne, when it came time for the meet up. Daphne had agreed to be Isaac's mail order bride but chickened out weeks before they were to meet, that's where Helena comes into the picture. Isaac had his doubts about Daphne, but Helena in the flesh posing as Daphne has him thinking she is the one, how will he feel once the truth is revealed??? Lilah Hart is a fabulous author of romantic novellas that can be read in an hour or less that will have you coming back for more, her writing style flows effortlessly and is so easy to read. She is able to make you feel like you are a part of the characters world, hanging on every word to see where it takes you! This book is part of a multi-author collaboration that is composed of a wide array of very talented authors and is a wonderful way to sample their work, I highly recommend this book and all in the series!

She stole her sister’s identity. Now she’s hoping to steal her sister's man, too. When her sister backs out of an arranged marriage with a rugged mountain man, Helena (h) sees an opportunity too good to pass up. After intercepting the breakup email and taking her sister’s place in Seduction Summit, Helena is determined to make Isaac (H) fall for her instead. He was supposed to marry Daphne—but Helena is the one who’s been secretly emailing him for weeks. She’s the one who wants this life. And after one look at Isaac, she knows she’ll do whatever it takes to keep it. Isaac isn’t sure what to expect when his mail-order fiancée arrives, but the moment he lays eyes on Daphne, he’s all in. She’s beautiful, bold, and nothing like he imagined. As they spend time together, his doubts about the arrangement fade—until secrets start to surface. Something about her seems different, and when the truth finally comes out, Isaac will have to choose what he wants for his future and Helena worries that her relationships with those she cares for most are on the line.

Helena is a mail order bride to a mountain man, well…actually her older sister Daphne is the real mail order bride. Daphne signed up on the Mountain Mates app to be a wife to a man living where there weren’t any local women. Daphne matched with Isaac, a resident of Seduction Summit, NC, but she chickened out after four weeks, so Helena secretly started emailing Isaac, and then went to meet Isaac in Daphne’s place. Helena thought Isaac was her dream man ever since Daphne showed Helena a picture of Isaac. The story continues with details about how their relationship progresses. An excellent book!

The story is fast-paced, and the author has done a wonderful job of creating an interesting plot and characters. I recommend this book for readers that like short, insta-love, age-gap, small town, mountain man, spicy romance stories.

"Stolen by the Mountain Man" by Lilah Hart is a fast-paced, steamy romance that delivers exactly what it promises—an over-the-top, age-gap love story with a possessive mountain man and a daring heroine caught in a risky deception.

The premise is both fun and dramatic, with the younger sister taking her sibling's place in a mail-order marriage arrangement. The tension builds as she hopes her rugged, brooding suitor won’t be too upset when he learns the truth. The chemistry between the characters is instant and intense, making for a quick but satisfying read.

If you love short, high-heat romances with protective heroes, innocent heroines, and a bit of playful deception, this book is a great choice. It’s a guilty-pleasure read perfect for an evening escape into the world of rugged mountain men and whirlwind romance.

Stolen by the Mountain Man is a steamy seduction by little sister Helena. When her older sister decides not to move forward with her mail order bride status, Helena impersonates her with Isaac—the man of her dreams. This convoluted situation is complex to the max—Isaac is completely open and honest, and he falls for Helena on first sight. While she hides her true identity thinking she can seduce him into loving her…not quite sure what this young lady is thinking trying to build a life on a lie, but it sure makes for fascinating reading! I love the connection that Isaac forms with Helena—though he thinks she is Daphne, and boy oh boy is there some hotness to go with the deception. I’ve mixed feelings about how Isaac handles it all, but the OTT alpha male reigns supreme and of course love conquers all. A short and fun read!

Helena is trying to steal her sister Daphne's fiancé, or technically ex-fiancé, by posing as her. She is hoping that Isaac will fall in love with her before finding out the truth. But before she can confess to Isaac, her sister Daphne shows up, intending to join Helena on the one-week retreat that Helena said she was going to take.

Helena and Isaac were such likeable characters, really great together, and I liked how their story was told with the dual POVs. This was a really fun and entertaining book and I was glued to the pages wanting to know what was going to happen next! How was Helena going to get herself out of this mess she made, unscathed?? It is short and easy to read story, and I love the writer's style.

This was a cute mountain man romance but I think what bugged me about it (kept me from giving 4 or 5 stars) was the premise of Helena showing up to meet Isaac after intercepting some of the emails between her sister and him, and her sister deciding that she didn’t want to get married after all. Something about that didn’t sit right with me…But Isaac forgives her pretty quickly, realizing that things never really felt perfect chatting with her sister Daphne until he actually saw Helena in person, and Daphne forgives her as well for intercepting emails, especially the “dumping” email. I’ve read lots of Lilah Harts other books and loved them all, this one just wasn’t for me. Having said that it was well written and well edited and a cute instalove, mountain man romance with a HEA.

I love mail order bride books. I love that they are making a come back and not just as historicals but as contemporary timeline. Helena, at 23, is a bit larger in size than her elder sister, Daphne, but since Daphne is 27 and she decided that she wasn’t going to go thru being a mail order bride, Isaac, Helena took over. She fell for Isaac and goes in her sister’s place as her sister. As soon as I saw that, I knew that there was problems 1 & 2. lol. The fact that the book takes place at Seduction Summit, made me read with glee. So, Helena as Daphne moves in with Isaac, and things progress because they are both instantly smitten. Things get steamy and romantic right away. Then the problems I mentioned before hit… lol. I’m not going to give it away, read the book! It’s soooo good. I can’t wait to read more.

Daphne or Helena?
Daphne signed up as a mail order bride after her boyfriend broke up with her, there she "meets" Isaac and chats with him for six weeks, but when it starts to get serious she wants to chicken out.
But what she doesn’t know is that her sister Helena has feelings for Isaac and decides to swoop in and take her identity.
So she begins to start chatting with him as Daphne and eventually meets him in his town.
But when suddenly the real Daphne shows up, she has to come clean.
It’s full of instalove, destiny, deceive, lies, betrayal, spice, age gap, small town and wonderful characters.
I absolutely loved the whole concept of the story, it’s something I haven’t read in this form and I extremely enjoyed.

The Mountain Mates series never fails to keep things interesting.

Issac has moved to a town where he feels at home. He has the typical bachelor pad with a downstairs man/sports cave. He had been chatting with Daphne for weeks, and finally they meet.

One small problem...the one that shows up is Daphne's sister, Helena. She had taken over talking to Issac, and already falling in love. Sometimes love does come at first site, and they both feel it as they meet.

Helena is way more adventurous than even she thought. She takes quickly to his mancave, and pushes herself outside of her comfort zone, or naughtness. Il love how she gets called out almost right away when her sister shows up, but thank goodness for a mountain man with a big heart that just wants Helena.

Its got some hot heat, spice, some adventure, and a really sweet HEA.

Helena had hijacked her older sister's emails which were being used to communicate with a lumberjack named Isaac whom started 6 weeks before when Isaac had joined and was matched with Daphne with plans of marriage possible, Daphne had joined after a bad breakup after a 7-year relationship. Helena had been reading the emails on a laptop that they both used and she had been answering emails instead. She didn't tell Isaac that she is Helena.Daphne was going to break off the Isaac and wouldn't be planning on a marriage to him. Helena plans to go instead because she felt something with the guy shown in the profile picture. Is that even possible? Helena went to see him, what are Isaac's reactions to her? What happens when Daphne shows up at Isaac's cabin?.

Steamy and Sexy!!

I absolutely loved reading this. A few laughs didn’t hurt either lol. Helena posing as her sister Daphne flew from Philadelphia to Seduction Summit to meet Isaac. Daphne met Isaac on the Mountain Man dating site and they talked and decided they’d get married. Then she decided to call it off. Meanwhile Helena started communicating with Isaac and fell in love with him so telling her sister that she wanted to spend time alone she flew to meet him. They were attracted to each other right away. On the second day she fixed dinner and was waiting for him to get home from work. Knocking on the door she didn’t expect to have her sister show up. She knew it was all going to come out and that it was possible Isaac wouldn’t want to be with her. As she was telling her sister why she did what she did… 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

Sexually Assaulting your partner or the person you plan to be your life partner is absolutely vile.

This is the first one of this series I’ve been unhappy with. I could almost accept the other deceptions in this: to her sister about where she was going, about her being a virgin and not telling him, about the fact that she took over for her sister and fell for him- but the ultimate unforgivable betrayal was not just being intimate with him, but having sex with him under false pretenses. I could give a little leeway if she had come clean, after he got her off while they were playing golf … ie. “that felt good and I want to be with you right now but before we do, you need to know something”. He needed to know who she was without a shadow of a doubt before they had sex. She didn’t even tell him the next morning, she was only outed because her sister showed up. I’m heartbroken about how this played out. It could have worked exactly as is, if only she had told him before sex. Letting him think she was still Daphne was wrong.

When Helena’s sister decided to end her mail order engagement, she continued corresponding pretending that she was her and now she has arranged a visit. When she arrives her feelings for Isaac only intensify but she is also concerned about the secret she holds.

Isaac felt a connection when he started corresponding with Helena’s sister and those feelings only became deeper when he was corresponding with Helena even if he didn’t know that two people were involved. When he meets Helena, he knows that he wants a future with her but how will he feel when all is revealed.

Even though the start of their relationship was complicated they are perfect for each other and quickly dealt with what was standing between them.

Stolen Identity leads to ❤️

Extremely sexy and captivating short read. Sometimes you just know when it’s the one that you are meant to be with forever. Helena’s sister joined a dating site after a bad breakup but realized it was a knee jerk reaction and sent him an email to break up. Helena who had been in love with him from afar, intercepted the email and took over emails, becoming more and more attracted. What will happen when she drives to meet him as her sister? All I have to say is I never had golf lessons like that (but am willing 😉!!!). Great addition to the series!.

Helena read some of her older sisters emails to Isaac over the mail order bride website, and as her sister lost interest in him Helena found she was falling in love with him. She started exchanging emails with Isaac pretending she was her sister. Soon she finds herself on a plane to meet him. Their chemistry is instant and Isaac finds himself falling for Helena from the first face to face meeting. Now Helena has to navigate this new relationship while trying to come up with a way to tell Isaac she isn't her older sister. It is a sweet and spicy short story and I enjoyed it from the beginning. I highly recommend this book.

Helena and Daphne were sisters. Daphne fills out a profile for Mountain Mates and when she receives a match and starts corresponding with Isaac, she decides this isn’t for her. Helena assumes Daphne’s identity and begins talking with Isaac. She is invited to meet her fiancé but will she be able to pull it off? They enjoy spending time with each other until Daphne visits Helena. How will Daphne deal with Helena’s mistrust? Will Isaac forgive Helena for lying to him and will they build a HEA? Entertaining story.

This is the first book I have read from Lilah Hart. This is part of the Mountain Man Mail Order Bride Series. The book is a short, sweet read in about 30 to 45 minutes.

Helena pretends to be her sister Daphne when she decides to back out of the marriage she agreed to with Issac. Issac didn't realize she wasn't the real Daphne. He wasn't even sure about the marriage idea either.

What happens when Daphne shows up at Isaac's place? How does Issac respond to the situation? Does he keep Helena? Does he try to get Daphne stay? What does her parents say? Will they get married? Let's finish reading to find out!

Pretending to be your older and thinner sister may not have been the best idea. Trying to pull it off when face to face is different from chatting via email. The person he is intending to meet is not exactly as he expected and his are immediately dashed when actually meeting his bride to be from the website.
Their interactions are immediate and they share the same appetite and appreciation, so it is looking good for now..until the real intended turns up, but they both come clean and feelings of romance are definitely shared.

I'm a huge fan of Hart's insta-love books, and the miuntam men in particular. That said, everything in this story just rubbed me the wrong way. The level of deceit, manipulation, immaturity and self-serving behaviors made it difficult to finish (and for such a short story that's saying something). I pushed through in the hopes there would be some form of accountability, but no. If you're simply interested in some steamy moments, you will get them. There's also an easy storyline, well written as always, that evokes a reaction (for better or worse).

Stolen by the Mountain Man is a fast, steamy, and wildly entertaining read with the perfect mix of drama and passion. When the heroine takes her sister’s place as a mail-order bride, the rugged mountain man has no idea he’s been deceived. But once he sets eyes on her, it doesn’t matter—she’s his, and he’s not letting go.

The story moves quickly, delivering all the over-the-top (OTT) alpha possessiveness and swoon-worthy devotion readers love. With a curvy heroine, a fiercely protective hero, and a mistaken-identity twist, this book is an irresistible, spicy escape.
