Beyond Temptation

Rate this book
A BEYOND series novella. (Set between Beyond Pain and Beyond Jealousy) Hacker Noah Lennox lives in the shadows, fighting a one-man war against the corrupt leader of Sector Five. The only weak spot in his armor is his best friend’s sweet younger sister--the girl he swore to save, even from himself. With her brother dead and a target on their backs, getting her out of the sector--and out of danger--meant giving her up for good. Or so he thought. Emma Cibulski has made her own home in Sector Four, as a full member of the O’Kane gang and apprentice to their infamous tattoo artist. When Noah--the first man she ever loved--stumbles back into her life, it’s her chance to have it all. The spark between them burns hotter than ever, and this time her fantasies are far from innocent. But can they handle the heat...or will Noah’s dark secrets drive them apart forever? BEYOND TEMPTATION was originally published in the anthology MARKED alongside stories by Vivian Arend and Lauren Dane.

Once upon a time, two best friends decided to write paranormal romance. And while that was awesome, they also sometimes wanted to write insanely dirty stuff that wasn’t paranormal at all. This is that stuff.

Kit Rocha is the dystopian-erotic-romance writing alter-ego of writing duo Moira Rogers.

'Kay me favourite scenes: Emma&Ace talking and Dallas&Lex talking to Emma. See? No Noah. He's cute but!! He's not an O'Kane. It just seemed forced and they did not work for me. It was like they needed to get his character on the page but somehow failed to make them work.

EDIT: Re-read time. (2/24/2017)
It is easier to like Noah more because I like him more in the other books.

We got a little glimpse of Noah and Emma in Beyond Pain and I was immediately interested in the tech savvy recluse who is an enigma and is really difficult to find. I was slightly disappointed that he wasn’t reclusive because he is quirky but just because he is the best at what he does and either people want to force him to work for them or kill him. Okay not quirky but still not horrible either.

Noah and Emma have a past. He was her brother’s best friend and has always tried to protect her. He promised her brother before he died that he would protect her and he thought that he had. But Emma isn’t where she is supposed to be, she is in the O’Kane gang and to Noah that seems like a dangerous place to be. He is trying to decide if she needs to be saved but maybe Emma will save Noah first.
"I keep waiting for you to disappear. Nothing I want this much could be real."

Emma is a sweet girl and an artist. She loved Noah most of her life and she has missed him so much. But she needs to convince him that she is all grown up and can take care of herself. She has a family now with the O’Kane’s and Emma likes her place in that world. But she wants to convince Noah that there is a place for him too.
"There's some ugly shit in your past. Doesn't make you special. But if you can't let it the hell go because she matters more, it makes you not fucking worthy."

I always love the story of teens who never explored their feelings of each other reunited in adulthood to rekindle that long lost love. This is no different it just has a few twists and turns and sex involved. I think this sets up how Noah is going to be of use to the O’Kane’s in future books and where his loyalties will really lie and why.

This probably isn’t really needed in the overall scheme of the series but it was entertaining and I always like to see how Dallas and Lex take care of their people.

Noah's and Emma's story was short and sweet. If it wasn't for all the guns, the violence and the sex it could have been a YA, High School romance.

4 years ago Noah Lennox left Emma Cibulski to a woman he paid handsomely to take care of her and started putting together plan after plan to take down the corrupt leadership of Sector 5 for their involvement on Emma's brother and Noah's friend's death. He never expected that Emma was not only not taken care of but that she'd run off and alied herself with the O'Kanes, one of the most dangerous gangs in the sectors.

Now, little, sweet Emma has become a woman fully grown and in control of her body and her desires and Noah never wanted her more.

But Noah's life is dangerous, Mac Fleming is looking for him and he won't let him get away because Noah's hacking abilities make him either a strong advantage or a big liability. How can he allow himself to drag Emma into this? But how can he walk away from her again...?

"Tell me I can keep you, and I'll stay."

Noah has skills that are in demand; the leaders of the Sectors wants him and will do anything to get him. He is a wanted man in and out of the bedroom, but no one wants him more than Emma. Emma is the baby sis of Noah’s best friend, who he made a promise to that he would give Emma the life they always dreamed of, but he can’t help the way his body responds to her. After years away from her, thinking she was finally living the life, he finds out that not only is Emma still in the Sectors but now she is proudly wearing O’Kane ink. He can’t believe how grown up she is and that she is happy in a place so different than their dream. Noah is used to being alone and can’t understand what it’s like to have a family and protection like the O’Kanes. Now that he’s back Emma isn’t letting him off the hook so easily, prepared to show him just how good life could be in Sector Four and in her bed.

I loved being back in Sector Four, seriously missed this place and the entire O’Kane gang… counting down the days till Beyond Jealousy.

Great novella! I was curious if Noah and Emma would get their own story after reading Beyond Pain and I'm so glad they did. This sets up some big things for the series but it's a great story in and of itself. There was a huge twist I didn't see coming. I loved watching these two finally give into their feelings! And it was super hot, as always.

Every new book in this series, either it’s a novella or a full-lenght novel, brings something more and different to the table.

But there’s also something in common in the Beyond series by Kit Rocha: they’re all very hot, kinky, smutty and sexy. With some very hot and dominant alphas (male and females).

And it wasn’t different with this short story. It was very hot!

This is a short but intense read which proves that even in novella form, Kit Rocha can write an exciting, compelling story, while still leaving plenty of time for the O’Kanes get down and dirty. Hell yeah!

Noah and Emma were introduced in the last book of the series, but they never actually saw each other. But even from just their names being mentioned in brief conversation with both of them individually, you know that there’s a history there and some serious chemistry between them.

Emma is a member of the O’Kane Gang. She’s had a difficult life, but has finally found her home and peace among the wildly debauched, although fiercely loyal O’Kanes.

Noah lives his life in hiding. As a talented hacker, his skills are wanted by everybody, but he lives his life on his own terms, with two goals – bring down the corrupt leader of Sector Five, and protect the life of Emma, the younger sister of his dead best friend, and the girl he wants but can’t have.

When Dallas pulls Noah into Sector Four for a job, he uses Emma as his bargaining chip to get him there, and from the moment these two see each other again, the feelings they have always had for each other come screaming to the surface.

“I’ve never wanted you to hurt at all. You were always the bright spot in my world.”

Yeah, there’s a lot of deep and meaningful, but there’s also a whole lot of this…

He cupped her face as she stilled, his thumbs rubbing back and forth along her cheek with a gentleness that softened the harsh need in his eyes. “I want to fuck you so damn hard.”
The combination of tenderness and lust undid her.
Deep. Now. She pushed at his shoulders, lifted her body, and angled her hips… “Take it, Noah.” The strangled plea sounded far away, like it hadn't come from her lips. “Fucking take it.”

Noah has always liked his sex dirty, and Emma’s time with the O’Kane’s has opened her right up to all things smutty, and once again there is all kinds hotness – and they both like it hard and rough, with plenty of dirty talk. And with Emma and Noah having strong feelings for each other from the very beginning, and being very open about that, there is a really strong emotional element to it which makes it all the more intense.

She was his. Good or bad, twisted or wrong, she was his, and he closed the last few steps with a hungry groan, buried his bruised hands in her hair, and kissed her.

*fans self*

But with Noah concealing a painful secret from the past, and the ruthless Mac Flemming of Sector Five gunning for him – and by extension, Emma - there are some big issues that they need to deal with, and it all ties in brilliantly to the power struggle in the sectors and the continuing story arc of the series.

I really liked this one. It’s short but powerful, and there’s a lot of emotion mixed in with the sexual and political goings on. It's actually a really beautiful love story.

“Fucking hell.” He smoothed her hair back with shaking fingers before turning to kiss her cheek. “All those years wasted, when I could have been loving you.”
The answer was easy, obvious. “You were.”
He choked on a laugh and coaxed her head back, urging her to meet his eyes. “Fine, then. All those wasted years, I could have been being loved.”
“You were that, too.”

I loved Noah and Emma and am looking forward to seeing more of them in future books.

4 stars.

I have to say I wasn't really interested in reading Noah and Emma's story AND THEN I READ IT! Once again Kit Rocha does a great job of getting us to care about more of the O'Kane clan. And it's especially well done considering we barely know Emma who now happens to be an O'Kane, and Ace's *swoon* apprentice.

It's a short story and could've easily been longer. Emma isn't just a newcomer trying to fit it. SHE'S AN O'KANE WOMAN THRU AND THRU. And when things get tough for Noah and he wants her to run and hide, she draws her gun and says:

"You've got to be shitting me."

But Noah had been thru so much and had lost her once already. He was too afraid to lose her again. He knew who she had been, had gotten a glimpse and taste of what she was now but his fear was getting in the way of who she really had become.

But Noah was keeping a terrible secret, and secrets have a way of coming out...

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dallas and Lex in this one. They've grown so much. The way they care for their own is what makes this group so special. I just wish there was a little more here - the misunderstanding that drives them apart and the ending are just a little too fast. But overall loved this book.

Can't wait for Ace/Rachel/Cruz!!

I adore a second chance romance and this was kind of one. Tech expert Noah and tattoo artist Emma have a long history full of pain and heartbreak and loss and secrets and watching Noah realize Emma doesn’t need saving but wants him just the same, was fantastic. Loved both these characters and this novella.

I read this novella as part of the Marked anthology.

I'm going to confess that Beyond Temptation was the whole reason I wanted to read the Marked anthology, I absolutely adore the Beyond series and am completely addicted to these sexy O'Kanes and the world that Kit Rocha has created! So it'll be no surprise when I tell you that this was my favourite story in the anthology, probably because I'm already so invested in this world and it's characters. We have briefly met Noah before but since he's not an official O'Kane we've not spent much time with him and I was looking forward to getting to know him better. Emma is a character I already liked, one of the bartenders at the Broken Circle she's been a familiar face throughout the series so it was good to learn more about her background and I absolutely loved the scenes with her working alongside Ace as an apprentice tattoo artist.

Noah was best friends with Emma's brother and as such he has always considered her off limits, that doesn't mean he hasn't done his best to protect her though. In fact he paid a fortune to have her sent safely to the communes outside of the sectors and has spent the last few years believing that she has been living a dream life on a farm somewhere. When he finds out that she has been right under his nose the whole time and living with the O'Kanes he just has to check up on her and make sure that she's OK. The Emma he finds is very different to the sweet young girl he knew though, she's all grown up and has turned into a confident, sexy woman who knows what she wants and exactly how to get it. Emma always had feelings for Noah so when she sees him for the first time in years she sets out to seduce him and show him just how good they could be together.

I loved both of these characters, they have off the charts chemistry and a connection that runs much deeper than lust. There are some difficult secrets between them though, things that could end their relationship for good if they don't find a way to work through them. This was probably the tamest story in the Beyond series so far but don't take that to mean that it isn't sexy because Noah and Emma are hot as hell. Just as you'd expect from these stories there is plenty of dirty talk and hot action! We get a glimpse of some of the previous characters but most importantly we get to spend time with Ace and this has just got me even more excited about his book Beyond Jealousy which is up next. This is a series that always jumps straight to the top of my to read pile and I can't recommend it highly enough although I would personally recommend reading the books in order starting with Beyond Shame though.

Beyond Temptation (Beyond series #3.5): Kit Rocha

LOVED,LOVED,LOVED IT!! Gods, Emma & Noah's story was way hotter than I expected it to be and added a great plot arc to the whole series... Looking forward to watching this play out!
Have to say that I've got a little thing going for the 'new boy' in Sector 4!

'Beyond Temptation' has loads of action and a few twists that keep you gripped and the sex, as always, just about causes spontaneous combustion!!!
Noah and his secrets about events in both their pasts & Emma's reaction to revelations made had me wanting to shake both of them at times....
The attraction and heat between N & E was intense - exactly what we've come to expect from the KR girls and this series!!!

Can't wait for Beyond Jealousy - just know Ace, Rach & Cruz's story is gonna blow our minds!!!

Really fun, quick read. It's all hot sex and fast violence with some character stuff thrown in. I was intrigued by the characters and the world. I will definitely read the other books in the series, and hopefully, the characters and world building are fleshed out more in the full length novels.

We still get to enjoy a bit of an orgy scene in this volume, with a small amount of f/f material, but mostly this volume focuses on the relationship between Emma and Noah. This entry in the series is a novella rather than a novel, so the two lovers find their way into bed quicker than those in previous novels. And while there are definitely some difficulties that threaten to pull the two apart, there’s less uncertainty in their relationship. Noah is very definitely a loner, so the hardest part is just convincing him that there’s value to be had in coming around to the O’Kane way of doing things.

As usual the sex and language in these books is rough and raw. There’s some mild dom/sub material, but this in no way stops both characters from being strong, confident, independent people. They’re just a bit more possessive than some of the earlier character combinations.

There’s a little bit of plot material in here; Noah wants revenge for a lot of things on the Sector Five head. He spends some time in this volume starting to set up some schemes that work in that direction, but we’ll have to wait until later volumes, I assume, to see the fallout.

This volume is less complex and maybe marginally less satisfying than the slower volumes that came before, but it nevertheless works. Noah and Emma are a delicious couple, and I hope we’ll see more of them around the edges in later books. I’m sure we will, actually, given how things have been going so far!

Ah, I'm delighted to be back in this series. This is one of the (many) shorts in between novels in this series, and tackles the relationship between Ace's tattooing apprentice, Emma, and a hacker named Noah, formerly from Sector Five, but working his way into Sector Four with the rest of the main cast.

It's mentioned that Noah is older than Emma, but I don't think it ever goes into exactly how much, just that he feels bad about it. Or, formerly did, when she was still a child and Noah and Emma's brother were friends. Emma's brother died four years before the beginning of this novella and Noah and Emma meet again for the first time.

Just like Noah had feelings for Emma, Emma had what she believed were equally fruitless feelings for Noah. But, four years since their last meeting, things are a lot different because Emma's grown up (filled out, cue Sin City trailer) and, now she's part of the O'Kane family, she and Noah can meet on equal terms.

That doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of ghosts from their past together ready in the wings to get them.

This is short and enjoyable and I particularly liked the short scene with Emma and Ace that reminded me a bit about why I loved his character again.

This was a super sweet and fast read in the O’Kanes series. I think the fast nature of the novella made it a little too...I don’t know. There wasn’t the same tension and build up. The exploration of what their relationship meant or how far they’d have to go for each other in a give and take like we’ve seen in the first three books. However, that said, for me that’s largely in part because it is a NOVELLA, so I’m not giving it a negative review. I still really love this story and the world it’s in, Noah and Emma has incredibly sweet moments and I love seeing how readily the O’Kanes come up to defend one of their own- the family protective support and love is what seals the happy feelings for me with this one.

I love the The Beyond series and this one is no exception even though it's only a novella.
Noah Lennox arranged for a woman to take care of young Emma Cibulski, his deceased friends sister, and keep her safe while he starts on a plan to take down the corrupt leader of Sector 5 for his involvement in his death.
But on his return 4 years later he never expects to find that Emma had run away and had allied herself to the dangerous gang, the O'Kanes.
And Emma is not a young girl any more but a hot, scantily clad woman.
He want's her. She want's him. And when they get together it's hot.
There's action, tension and O'Kane sizzle. Great!

Emma and Noah

Four or five years ago Noah bought Emma from her brother. He also paid for her to hide out and then paid again for her to escape out of the sector with a boy. When he walked into the Broken Circle to talk with Dallas O'Kane the first person he saw was Emma and their past smacked him in the face.

Emma for years believed Noah didn't care. She had no clue what had gone on between Noah and her brother. She had loved Noah but never expected to see him again.

I've read every Beyond book as it was released, thought I'd read the whole series only to discover I'd skipped a novella. I so enjoyed slipping back into Sector 4 and visiting the O'Kane gang.

I really enjoyed this! I think it worked better as a short, too. Noah and Emma have loved each other since they were kids, when life was a hell of a lot more innocent. But neither of them are innocent now, and they both have demons, and they've grown up hardened because of their past. But not over everything. Emma helped Noah realize that love was worth the risk, and Noah found a partner, someone who would go through hell with him. Much a fan of their romance. And now, finally, I can get to Ace, Cruz, and Rachel's book!

Too tired to review properly, but I picked this one up earlier in the week as a palate cleanser after the book I tried to read creeped me out too much to want to go to sleep with it being the last thing I read before bed.

And it was exactly what I needed. Also, it was awesome being back in the world of the Beyondverse, and I love the repeated message that "Little Emma Cibulski can take care of herself".

More like that please, Universe.

Emma Cibulski has always had feelings for her brother’s best friend, Noah Lennox. But after her brother’s death, Noah made arrangements to keep her safe, then left. So when Dallas draws out the stealthy hacker and brings him into his employ, Emma finally gets her chance to show Noah exactly what he’s been missing out on. Beyond Temptation is a steamy and action-packed story - which delves deeper into the mysteries of life in the Sectors.

Fluffy, bit angsty, spicy sweet

Noah and Emma are adorable together. Their story is a bit complicated with just the right amount of drama and action mixed with spice and oh so sweet moments. Their history was a bit dark, filled with pain and grief but they got their HEA in this dystopian novella.

My favorite book is next. Super excited for the re-read. This book is 18+, few TWs maybe, and highly recommended.
