At 45% I let this book go. I was struggling because I just didn’t like these characters in these pretentious families. I just couldn’t see continuing the torture. Which makes me sad because I was waiting for this book to drop. Since it’s a series I won’t be reading the next books either. Hope someone else has a better experience.

The best phrase to describe this book is: a beautiful rollercoaster.

I’ve been following Tinia’s updates on this new series since she announced it, and once I saw she was asking for ARC readers, I couldn’t not apply. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the ARC, it really means a lot.

This gave the vibe of the telenovela that airs at 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, iykyk. Every turn, every plot twist was bigger and messier than the last. From the very beginning, you get a full view of all the drama you're in for.

I love Tinia’s way of describing things. I can always imagine a full movie when reading her work.

By 30%, I had so much information that I had to pull out my notebook, lol. But it was all worth it. Each storyline was wrapped up, and the ones left open will continue in the next books.

Sis Laurene. I wanted to smash your face against the wall for half the book because, how dare you not speak up? But then I remembered you’re the oldest daughter and just wanted to give you a hug. Definitely my favorite character development. Slowly but surely, she gained her confidence back.

Reese, my love. You’re too good for this world. You did nothing wrong but give us memorable quotes. Shakespeare could never.

Award for best sister goes to… GIGI, always our savior. I CAN’T WAIT for her book.

I always appreciate when the “villains” have a realistic backstory. Nobody is bad and bitter just because. There’s always a reason, even if it’s the most insignificant one. Also, not all villains need a redemption arc. Thanks, Tinia.

One thing about Tinia: she will give you a mini novella as an extended epilogue, and I’m always here for it. I need a full view and all the details about the next years to be able to sleep at night.

This was the best way to end my March reading, and if it wasn’t clear, I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE REST OF THE SERIES!!!! Definitely a must for your TBR.

Lush read like a soap opera, and that’s not a bad thing at all- especially since I am now enjoying the daytime drama shows. The story was captivating, suspenseful, full of twists and turns, and passion filled scenes from the main characters, Laurene and Reese. The author put a twist on the arranged marriage trope, except the couple had previous history, that didn’t end well. Reese and Laurene were past lovers, but Laurene was supposed to marry Reese’s brother, Conrad. There lies the drama! 😱I love a good scandal and Rich folks drama. With so many things at stake, control, money, secrets, near death experiences, and blackmailing - who is trustworthy? I did not see the plot twist happening.

I received this book as an ARC from the author for an honest review.

If you enjoy secrets, lies, duplicitous behavior, and dueling families sprinkled with longing revenge that’s fueled by misplaced feelings of love then this one is for you. I love all of those things and Tinia wrapped it up in this book. This book had growling, angsty, brooding, hot BDE MMC which we love to see. I’ll be reading the next one.

Tropes: CEO/billionaire, 2nd chance, arranged marriage, forced proximity, flashbacks

Lush needs to be added to the top of your TBR! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book Lush by Tinia Montford.

Laurene and Reese are members of rival families. I loved that the one man Laurene loved was also her teenage sweetheart. Reese is a man that loved his family but also loved one woman; until she disappeared from his life with no explanation. Now their families are demanding they marry, and they're being forced back together after years apart. I enjoyed watching them fall in love with each other again. The old spark neber went out and they each actively put in work to move past their hurts. Their forced proximity also helps them to find out what happened the night that forever changed their future.

The writing was on point and kept me engaged. There are twists that will keep you invested until the last page. I appreciate the plot and storyline showing the not so glamorus side of the wealthy. For me, it was paced well rushed and was laid out just right. I also felt there were so many revelations one after another to keep me wanting to read what's next.

Definitely a 4 star read.

Thank you so much for the ARC fantastic 4.

This is my first romance suspense type book and i absolutely loved it. From the plot to the drama to the romance ugh loved all of it! Found myself wanting more of this couple when it ended. The spice was so yummy and it did not take away from the plot at all. The side characters were great. I did find myself figuring out what would happen but still thought it was dun and entertaining.

Huge thank you to Tinia for letting me ARC read Lush! 🫶🏼

Let me just say—boredom is NOT an option with this book. It’s action-packed to the point where I kept thinking, “Dang, when is my girl Laurene (FMC) going to catch a break?” lol.

Tropes to Expect:
💍 Arranged marriage (not once, but twice!)
❤️ Second chance romance
💰 Millionaires & luxury
🔥 A little revenge / lovers-enemies-lovers
🔎 Suspense romance

Lush follows a prestigious black founding family in the lavish town of Lush. Laurene is originally set to marry one brother from another wealthy family but she’s secretly in love with the younger brother, Reese. When tragedy strikes and the first brother dies in a terrible accident, Laurene flees to Paris for six years. Fast forward to her return, and now she’s arranged to marry Reese… except Laurene left him and betrayed him. And now, they’re both out for revenge for very different reasons.

Cue the suspense— which I am not sure if it was intentional or not but I was suspenced! 🫣 After their engagement party, Laurene and Reese find themselves being blackmailed. I do feel like Laurene got the hit more— chased, locked in tight spaces, run off the road, etc. This where I was like “good grief when is she going to catch a breather”. I really enjoyed seeing her and Reese fall back in love or never technically falling out of it — just making their way back to each other. 💕

Oh Lordy, the parents. I could not stand Yvonne and Harold to save my life. And add Serena to that list! Although, after that sneak peek, I am very interested to see what’s next for her. Now Gigi, was hands down my favorite! She was hilarious and brought all the comedic relief. Need more of her!

By the end, secrets are revealed, and we finally learn who’s behind the blackmailing and why—which leads to my only complaint. Idk if it was because I didn’t see it coming or what… but I would’ve chosen someone else.

I really enjoyed the story and cannot wait to learn more about the King family and siblings!

I should hate her. I did hate her. So why did my f*cking heart still recognize her?

Okay, so I just finished Lush by Tinia Montford (book one in her California Kings series), and whew—Reese deserves a medal. Like truly, this man is the definition of unconditional love. He shows up, he listens, he supports… all without ever asking for anything but love back.

Laurene, on the other hand… I wanted to root for her, I really did. You can tell the author was trying to show her going through a messy transformation, but for me, it didn’t quite land. She mostly came off as selfish, and there were so many times I wanted to shake her and be like, “Girl, what are you doing?!”

That said, the chemistry between them is fire, and the tension is definitely there. The writing is quick and natural, and I liked the touches of suspense.

Overall, Reese carried this book for me 🤍

I throughly enjoyed this book!! When I tell you I was screaming, kicking my legs and wanting to throw my kindle across the room so many timessss. This got me out of my reading slumpppp, for me personally I thought the author did a great job portraying the chemistry between my favorite enemies to lovers. So many times I was rooting for them and so many times I wanted to scream “you are both very toxic”😂 like I’ve said I love a book where the main female lead is not insufferable, she’s independent/badass/amazing in so many ways!! Although there were some moments where I screamed “if only you guys actually committed to one another we wouldn’t be in this situation” She had a way of getting me to love certain characters I didn’t care for until I learned their story, and making me feel like I was in the book experiencing the whole thing😭The mystery, scandal, thriller, drama, and overall twists and turns played into the the plot so well. I’m VERY excited to see how this series goes😌

Thank you so much Tinia for giving me the opportunity to review an ARC copy of LUSH :)

Now that we've gotten that out of the way lets get into the review!

The story starts off with our two main characters Laurene and Reese getting into something scandalous. We find out a few pages in that she is set to marry Reese brother even though she clearly doesn't love him. Something tragic happens and Laurene leaves their city for 6 years only to return again ! This story gave so much ! Forbidden romance and slight enemies to lovers (one sided) however that was only momentarily. The plot was so good and in my opinion flowed pretty well. Within all the drama of the two main characters trying to work through their problems, there was also a mystery they had to solve. I thought the drama and mystery kept everything interesting and made the story nothing like I've ever read.

The only thing I would say was that I wish Reese didn't give in so quick lol ! She really did betray him (read to find out why) and I feel as though he should've waited a bit longer or at least for her to really prove that she wasn't going to leave him again before taking her back but either way the heart wants what it wants! Also when the mystery was finally revealed at the end though I really did not see it coming I wish it was a bit more dramatic. The events leading up to it was but I wish I gasped when I found out. Once I did i was like wow okay interesting.

Other than that I loved everything about this book. Had just the right amount of spice and drama to keep me reading. Do yourself a favor and pick this up you wont regret it. This is my second novel read by the other and I cant wait to dive into her catalog.

If you can get through the cheesy dialogue, unreal plot points and unlikable supporting characters, this is an above decent spicy suspense romance. I could tell the author was heavily inspired by scripted tv dramas and more importantly soap operas as the plot would shift from corporate shenanigans to spicy love scenes on a dime. I wish the story flowed better and that the blackmail plot wasn't as tedious and boring, but overall Reese and Laurene had great chemistry on paper. Also Gigi was funny AF.

💍 this is an ARC review 💍

This book was totally different than anything I’ve read before and really kept me on my toes. It was like a murder mystery with millionaires and spice.

- arranged marriage
- second chance romance
- lovers to enemies to lovers
- millionaires galore lol

I loved the character development that was shone in this book between the FMC and the MMC and how they were able to stand up for themselves and their relationship. The chemistry/tension between the two of them was unreal 🥵 they were so hot together lol

I felt the development of their family relationships were done really well, like I REALLY hated their parents as much as they did. But also felt the love and support from their siblings.

The only thing that fell a little flat for me was the world around them and at times the scenes were a little confusing as far as positioning of characters or where things were taking place. Also the scene jumps were a little abrupt at times, so that was a bit confusing; like “oh we’re here now… oh ok got it.”

But overall I would definitely recommend if you’re into millionaire families with BIG secrets and plot twists you don’t see coming!

Thank you to the author for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first time reading anything from Tinia Montford and now I'm obsessed.

Lush is so wonderfully written. The characters and their relationship to each other are incredibly tangible. The way I was guessing (wrongly, might I add) about who the guilty party/parties were left me spinning! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down!! I need more!!!

Lush

This book is a wild ride from start to finish! We kick things off with Laurene and Reese sneaking around like their love is some kind of top secret mission. But drama hits hard when Laurene bounces from Lush, leaving Reese in the dust. Fast forward, and she's back in town with a new mission marrying Reese, of all people. This story's got it all: suspense that'll have you on the edge, romance that'll make your heart do somersaults, and a mystery that keeps you guessing till the last page. The whole marriage of convenience trope is spun perfectly, setting the stage for some serious sparks. The twists will hit you out of nowhere.

Loved all the drama, secrets, and lies! It’s like watching Young and the Restless with my grandma all over again. Truly enjoyed the banter between Laurene and Reese, and the chemistry! This is a well written story that allows you to be sucked into the lives of those who live in Lush. Don’t get me started on the plot twist. I received an ARC for an honest review.

Lush was some real royal dramaaaa lol. I was kicking my feet with my wine, reading this but I didn’t expect any less from Tinia. She’s always on point with the plot and the spice is always the right amount. I loveddddd how Reese loved Laurene but he definitely should’ve made her suffer a little more. Not going to lie. She didn’t deserve him sometimes. This was such a beautiful love story. I appreciate receiving an ARC and I cannot wait to read more.

This book was amazing and I’m so grateful to have received the ARC for it. I was hooked from the first couple pages and they literally had me emotional 😭. I know the book is still in editing but there were some inconsistencies with what Reese calls his genitalia, I would prefer d*ck. Also, on page 197 and 199, there were some repeated dialogue. Overall, this story had everything I needed, drama, romance and suspense. I loved the plot twist of it all. Can’t wait to read the next one!! I would definitely recommend this book to people.

Tinia Montford does it again! I loved every moment of this book! The characters were well defined and lovable, the plot was gripping and believable, and I was gasping at every page [for more than one reason! ;)]!! I cannot wait for the next book in the series to see what happens next for the King family.
A family tree graphic might have been good to help readers keep track of who was married to whom, birth order, etc. but other than that, no notes!

I was so excited to read Lush and wow

I loved the plot and the characters
The twists and turns had me at the edge of my seat and suspecting everyone and trusting no one.
There was even a point I was suspicious of both Reese and Laurene’s intentions

A solid 3.5/5 read

Absolutely love Reese and how he’s always there for Laurene, him and Laurene are just beautiful together and Laurene is honestly such a QUEEN. Thoroughly enjoyed this book

Went into this blind.
the beginning was quite hooking.
but it quickly became obnoxious.
around 40% it was just cringe. The dialogue was juvenile and it didn't seem to fit the characters. it dragged for too long. this should've wrapped up 150-200 pages sooner.
I don't think I will continue the series.

Short version:

This book is teeming with angst, betrayal, and explosive chemistry. Laurene and Reese’s tension is off the charts, and the writing is absolutely stunning—sharp, immersive, and full of unexpected twists. If you love dramatic, high-stakes romantic suspense, this one’s a must-read!

Full review below:

Tropes:

- Second Chance Romance
- Arranged Marriage
- Millionaire Romance
- Interracial Romance

Plot Summary:

Six years ago, Laurene was engaged to Conrad Ashborne—the perfect, wealthy, family-approved match. Six years ago, she was also sleeping with his brother, Reese. The plan was simple: she and Reese would confess everything to Conrad, call off the engagement, and finally be together.

But then… Conrad died.

Laurene and Reese are the only ones who know the truth. And when the pressure mounted, Laurene did the unthinkable—she lied, let Reese take the fall, and ran away to Paris.

Now, she’s back.

Another arranged marriage.

Only this time, she’s set to marry Reese.
Six years ago, this would’ve been her dream. Now? How do you marry a man you once loved—a man you betrayed—a man who now hates you?

The Good:

The writing? Absolutely STUNNING. I was hooked from the very first page. Montford has mastered the art of “show, don’t tell” (which, by the way, is my #1 pet peeve in books when authors don’t get it). The way she builds the world through subtle details instead of info-dumping? Chef’s kiss.

Every character feels thoughtfully crafted and distinct, which makes it easy to keep track of side characters and adds so much vibrancy to the novel. Laurene is a powerhouse of a heroine—flawed, self-aware, and unwilling to shrink herself for anyone. Her character arc is so well done; she grows without losing the core of who she is. And Reese? Oh, Reese... A beautiful, broken man who somehow makes my heart ache and swoon at the same time.

Also, the spice? Perfection. Just enough, never overdone, and always advancing the relationship or revealing something about it instead of just existing for the sake of it.

And finally, let’s talk about the suspense—this book got me. The twists were so well executed that I never saw them coming, but they still made sense in hindsight. Nothing felt forced or thrown in for shock value.

The In-Between:

Okay, so this book reads very much like a TV show—sharp dialogue, cinematic visual imagery, dramatic twists. For the most part, that worked really well, but sometimes the scene transitions were so abrupt they felt like a hard cut to black. It’s a stylistic choice, and while I get it, I’m not sure I loved it in a book.

Also, this is totally a me thing, but I’m not a fan of the trope. It often feels like an easy way to dump exposition, and in this case, the contents didn’t entirely make sense. It didn’t ruin anything for me, but it did take me out of the moment a little.

The Bad:

Honestly? There’s not much. My only real gripe is that while I absolutely loved the scene between Laurene and (seriously, such a beautiful and devastating moment of understanding between them), I wish we’d gotten that same emotional depth in Laurene’s scenes with . Those moments felt a little flat in comparison. It’s a minor thing, but would’ve been the one complaint I had.

Spicy Chapters: Prologue, 8, 17, 19, 20, 23, 26
Cheating: The MMC and FMC were having an affair at the beginning of the novel, but this plotline does not continue in the present and they do not cheat on each other.
Third-act Breakup: No
HEA: Yes
OWD: No

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book

Okay so where to begin with this. Overall when I heard the premise of the book I was intrigued however I went into it knowing these type of books typically aren’t my thing. Very old money, family drama almost kinda like a soap opera. I did appreciate having the context of what type of book and series this would be as that helped me go into it prepared.
I will start off by saying if you’re not into rich family drama, enemies to lovers soap opera type books then this won’t be for you. If you were a fan of the authors last release last minute First Lady and want something the same as that then I’d say this book and possibly this series are not for you.
We start off with the two main characters Laurene and Reese, who have some history. Because of that we see the enemies to lovers trope set up early on. Which I’m personally not a fan of so I was curious how the author would make me care about their dynamic. I will say despite me not being an enemies to lovers fan I saw that both of them clearly liked and cared about each other which is key for me. I also felt like I saw the chemistry between them and I could believe them as a couple. This also made the many sex scenes believable as I felt their chemistry and it translated to those moments where they were intimate. I also felt like these scenes were really well done and engaging.
The main reason why this book isn’t a favorite is based on the story it’s trying to tell it’s personally not my cup of tea. There’s a lot of drama, family drama in particular which while engaging I generally have not been the biggest fan of the whole rich family drama thing. I did however find the mystery subplot engaging and I was curious on what the outcome would be. I also feel personally while I could believe the two main characters wanting each other and I kinda liked them as a couple I wouldn’t say I felt strongly attached to either one of them and that’s fine. I think the type of story this book was trying to tell just clashes with my personal reading taste and so that’s going to make connecting with characters more difficult. And this was particularly evident where when i was reading the epilogue. To me the focus on the issues both of them were having post getting married and all was genuinely enjoyable to me. I found that more enjoyable than the angst and drama of most of the book. I think the author still shines when it comes to a lot of the grounded personal stuff as was seen in the epilogue. I don’t think this is an awful book absolutely not, I do just think this time it came down to my personal tastes not meshing with the story this book was trying to tell. I went into it knowing that and I’m glad that I still gave it a chance because it was still an enjoyable read. This was simply a case of not every book is going to be for you or your personal tastes and that’s okay, I still overall had an enjoyable experience. I am still curious to see how the author continues this series and focuses on the other siblings. Despite me not being a huge fan of rich family drama type books I am curious about the siblings and seeing their love stories, particularly because I’m assuming those books will have different tropes so I’ll be curious to see how the author tackles those stories. Overall if you like enemies to lovers, angst, rich family drama soap opera type books then I definitely think you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re not and curious about it I still think it’s definitely worth the read as long as you know what you’re getting into and go in aware of the type of book this is. I am still looking forward to what next the author releases.

3.5/5

I utterly adored The Last Minute First Lady when I read it a few years back, so when I got the notification that a new ARC from Tinia Montford was available, I knew I had to have it. Unfortunately, Lush didn't have quite the same sparkle as its predecessor.

To be fair, these are different types of stories. The Last Minute First Lady is more of a standard contemporary romance whereas Lush reads more like a soap opera. We follow Laurene, the daughter of a California dynasty who is returning home six years after the untimely death of her fiancé, Connor, the son of a rival dynasty. Upon her return, her family demands that she once again enter into an engagement with a rival, only this time, her husband-to-be is Reese, a former flame.

The main challenge of this book is pulling off the second-chance romance between Laurene and Reese. While the book opens with a flashback to one of their trysts, and the characters periodically reminisce about those times, we don't get to see the development of their feelings for one another in real time. Even the major conflict that tore them apart is obscured until the final 10% of the book. Unfortunately, their connection and re-connection seemed primarily based on physical attraction and sexual compatibility. While the sex scenes were well-written, I was left wondering what they liked about one another in the day-to-day. We do see them turn to one another in moments of crisis, but a trauma bond isn't enough to convince me of their long-term chemistry. Certainly authors have pulled off this trope before, but in this case, I felt like I was jumping into the third season of a soap opera while a friend who had actually watched the previous two seasons was whispering the backstory in my ear. Not quite the same as experiencing it for yourself.

There were also far too many characters for me to keep track of, and I felt like I was missing out on the impact of certain twists because I'd have to ask, "Who was that again?" It could be that I wasn't reading carefully enough, or it could be that Montford was trying to establish a large cast of characters for future installments and they didn't all get a chance to shine.

On the positive side, Montford's characterization is as strong as ever. She isn't afraid to give her protagonists flaws and paint them in an unflattering light. There were times that I was in awe of Laurene's poor decision-making. She was no innocent! I do prefer to see a little more growth in my characters, however, and especially prefer to see partners make one another better. Still, an admirable risk.

I also enjoyed the action, especially in the latter half of the book. It could get a little over-the-top at points, but I'm not reading about two feuding dynasties and their star-crossed children for realism. The pacing as a whole was great, and the writing was smooth.

All in all, I will still keep an eye out for Montford's next project, but I'm not sure this series is the right fit for me. Even so, I am grateful to have experienced her writing prowess again.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book's ARC (Advanced Reader Copy). All opinions expressed are my own.

Trope:

Arrange Marriage

Enemy to Lover

Old money family

Lush by Tinia Montford is a captivating second-chance romance that plunges readers into a world of drama, family secrets, betrayal, and forbidden love. It makes me think about Dynasty series Fallon was poured into someone, the book follows Reese and Lauren, two characters caught in a whirlwind of old-money politics and simmering tension, as they navigate the emotional labyrinth of love, revenge, and family loyalty.

The story unfolds around a tragedy and the shocking betrayal of his secret girlfriend, which forms the backbone of a highly charged, complicated relationship between Reese and Lauren. Their romance is tumultuous one moment lovers, the next enemies and it’s impossible not to feel the intense, often painful, chemistry between them.

What struck me the most about Lush were the strong and deeply flawed characters. Reese’s relationship with his father is heartbreaking, with his father’s blatant disregard for Reese's life to elevate his “perfect” son. The cruelty from his father, who prioritizes family legacy over his son’s well-being, left me furious rest in hell as you so aptly put it. It’s painful to watch Reese drown in his father’s neglect, only to find solace in Lauren’s arms until, of course, the betrayal that shatters everything.

Lauren, on the other hand, is a force to be reckoned with. Though initially seeming to put on a facade of strength, her resilience is undeniable. She has carved her own path and achieved success despite her family’s toxicity. The stark contrast between Lauren and her sisters, and especially her brother, is evident, but it’s clear that she is the true “stronger King.” Her refusal to take back her words and stand firm in her beliefs is what makes her such a compelling character. The emotional toll of being gaslit by her mother, who shamelessly says, “This family needs come before your happiness,” was something I could never forgive, and it fueled my admiration for Lauren even more.

Reese and Lauren’s love story is intense, with layers of passion and pain. The tension between them is palpable, and while they try to hide their affair, it's impossible not to feel the depth of their connection. Reese’s emotional turmoil, his rage, and his ultimate heartbreak make him an incredibly sympathetic character. Their reunion, despite all the obstacles, is earned and feels like a culmination of everything that has been building up.

The book is a drama-filled journey with jaw-dropping moments, sharp emotional beats, and enough twists to keep you hooked from start to finish. The blackmail subplot only adds to the complexity, making every decision feel life-altering and every moment of love between Reese and Lauren more dangerous. The prologue alone sold me on this book, and I couldn’t put it down.

Overall, Lush is a must-read for fans of dramatic, high-stakes romance with a healthy dose of family dysfunction. The complex characters, especially Reese and Lauren, the heated romance, the emotional depth, and the added danger of blackmail make this an unforgettable story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review…

The last part of the back of the book blurb says that it’s perfect for fans of Dynasty, 80s soap operas and mysteries. I wholeheartedly agree that that is the target audience.

I was very excited to read this book but must admit that it kinda felt all over the place. The beginning starts out strong and we see Reese and Laurene getting hot and heavy as they discuss her marrying his brother and how she doesn’t want to do it…arranged marriages are atrocious…sometimes…but this one is tough…They had a plan…they just needed to follow it…buuut things didn’t go quite as planned. Laurene end up leaving the country for 6 years until she is summoned home by her mother (that lady is ruthless). When she comes back, she finds out she is AGAIN to be married…but this time to Reese…and now we are left to find out…how can they make this “business arrangement” work when there’s so much bad blood between them because of “that night”….

There is a lot to unpack. Layers and layers of stuff as the couple begins to be blackmailed because someone knows their secrets. Fingers get pointed all over and you just have no idea who could truly be the culprit because everyone is a little shady. Shoot at one point I thought one of their parents was responsible for the blackmail! Lol…so much happens, but the first half of the story felt somewhat disjointed to me. It wasn’t until I was about page 320, that it became unputdownable….

I really wanted to love it, but it was okay. There’s plenty of deceit and so many lies and so much betrayal. I’ll revisit it, because it’s interesting and I want to see what happens next…

Tinia was an expert at painting the world she created though. I could see so much very vividly. I saw the tired eyes…I saw the beautiful landscape and Lush came alive in that way. Her descriptions are my favorite part of the story.

Laurene and Reese are the kind of couple that you’re not sure if they’re going to burn down the world with their love, or burn each other. I was OBSESSED!! First of all, this isn’t my usual genre, as it seems like it would be a little darker than I am used to, but I signed up for this ARC because the premise sounded interesting. And it DELIVERED. Laurene was such a great fmc, as she was strong and capable, while also trying to figure out what she wanted in her life. She struggled with saying no to her familial obligations, which caused strife between the two main characters, but I think that it was necessary for the character development. And since there are no spoilers, let’s just say that I was really proud of her!

Reese, on the other hand, I had a hard time figuring out. He was kind of closed off, but you could tell that he had loved her all this time, even after *the accident* (you need to read to find out!!). He had a way of being broody without being a complete douche, which I appreciated. I think what usually turns me off of these, old money, rich family drama books is the fact that the guy is usually the worst person you could meet. Reese was not that way, in fact he was very caring and honestly, just a chill guy. He let Laurene thrive, and although he was upset with her for a while because of what happened between them, he gave her time to work through things without pushing her. Also, the trope of old lovers proving they will always know each other best, even when they’re not together anymore will always be superior to me.

Either way, Lush is definitely a new favorite and a book that everyone should be checking out! Plus, it’s available on Kindle Unlimited! Thank you and enjoy!

Lush…..where the King family rules all, or do they really? This book brought explosive family drama, high stakes, intense emotions and the kind of love people wait their lifetimes to find.

Laurene and Reese, textbook rivals due to their high profile families’ feud, but in actuality are secret lovers, destined to crash and burn. After a disastrous event turns their lives upside down, Laurene flees for Paris, too much of a coward to face the consequences, leaving Reese to pick up the pieces.

Forced back home by her demanding mother after years in exile to now marry the person she left behind, Laurene needs to decide if this second chance is the perfect opportunity to right her wrongs and maybe finally have that HEA. Meanwhile Reese, who I felt got the short end of the stick in terms of his reputation and name being tarnished, needs to decide if forgiveness is possible. This is easier said than done though when blackmail is thrown into the mix.

This book absolutely blew me away. It perfectly depicted how a life of luxury is never a bed of roses, and even the strongest empire can crumble beneath betrayal and rivalries, making this a suitable read for anyone who loves soap operas. I especially loved the bond between the King siblings and between Reese and his sister. The story was fast paced, steamy, and full of compelling characters that kept me invested. This was my first book by the author but definitely not my last. I need the next book now!

“Impossible’s never stopped me. Not when it comes to you,”

The drama the intensity the angst Laurene and Reese had me from the prologue. I could not put this down I equally wanted to know what happens and it never to end. This is a second chance arranged marriage where she was previously engaged to his brother and the events that take place in the past and present will have you hooked. The tension between Reese and Laurene perfection you can feel it, they hate that they still are in love with each other but they need to be a team. Going into this series trust no one even if they aren’t the villain they did some villain shh. Also there are 3 other siblings I will not trust anyone till that last book. Absolutely 100% read the epilogue it will give insight to book 2 and the Llama scene amazingly funny and it also the most realistic epilogue I have read.
