Single and soon to be unemployed, life isn't going to plan for Gordon White. However, just as things look set to get worse, his father delivers news of an unusual and eccentric bequest.
Free of any ties, Gordon embarks upon an adventure that transports him from grey North London to the alluring tropical island of Barbados, where he sets out to unravel a dark family secret, buried deep in colonial history.
A Caribbean mystery, interspersed with love, rum, humour and the prospect of great riches.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the blurb - quite a nice surprise though. An entertaining adventure/mystery set in London and Barbados. Hapless Londoner, Gordon White, receives a mystery item (I wont spoil it) in his aunt’s will and heads out to Barbados where he is introduced to a genealogical conundrum, which ends up in a search for buried treasure.
I liked the characters and the mix of old and new Barbados and thought the plot was pretty clever with a nice twist. Funny throughout (laugh out loud in places) All in all a pretty good read. I want to go to Barbados too :)
I loved this book, it's twists and turns and often laugh out loud humour. From rainy, dreary Tottenham Court Road to the glamour of Barbados, it's an adventure in the true sense, oh and it will really make you want to book a holiday!
