The only way to save her people is to betray the king she vowed to protect.

After winning her place as Chief Protector, Novalise is in more danger than ever. King Zadien seeks to destroy the Alphanites, and the only way Novalise can stop him is by winning a Request—one undeniable favor offered only to those who save the king from a deadly threat. With no imminent danger at hand, Novalise will have to commit treason to save her people.

Zadien is finally stepping into his role as king. With his courageous new Chief Protector by his side, he’s determined to annihilate the traitors responsible for his father’s death. His romantic feelings for “Astra” haven’t faded, but pursuing her could leave his kingdom without a monarch. Is their fledgling relationship worth violating the law and risking his crown?

As the clock counts down for her people, Novalise must choose between manipulating the king’s affection and trusting the voice in her heart to lead her. When all her plans crumble, will she hide behind her new identity as a Protector or find a way to rise in such a time as this?

After posting and sharing and ranting and raving my excitement about this book coming out, I was beginning to question if it would live up to not just the hype, but my own hype, but let me tell you, it was SO worthy of every OUNCE of hype.

Have I successfully overused the word hype? Probably, but that’s how it goes.

Proclaimer picks up right where Protector left off, without a single moment to breathe and relax. It’s intense, my friends. And yet, amid all the struggle and fighting, Alpha’s voice is always there, always speaking. And the message to both Novalise and Declan… the reminder that things always work out better when we trust God to work things out for our good… ugh. All the feels. The faith content in this duology is so present and potent. It’s amazing.

As in its predecessor, Proclaimer is a wee bit gory for my taste, but it never felt glorified or excessive. It was done well, which is not something that can be said of many books. And even Novalise and Zadien were rather disgusted with some of the things that made me cringe inside.

Now, the plot… I couldn’t put this book down, which was a very good thing considering I have a whole lot of books waiting to be reviewed, and I’ve got deadlines to make. The Alphanites’ plans and ideas had me so anxious, and I kept wondering how in the world it was all going to work out. And yet, Schaulis somehow made it all work out without simultaneously sucking all realism from the story.

I feel that the romance was much less than in the prior book (although it’s been a minute since I read it), however, it worked well for this novel. Between all the action and intrigue, I hardly had time to think about chemistry between my lovelies. And Novalise being promoted to Chief Protector definitely changed some dynamics of their relationship, as it should have.

Altogether, Megan Schaulis crafted a compelling, thrilling Esther retelling, and I’m so glad it all worked out the way it did. I think I’ve struck gold in the YA Christian fiction industry, and I won’t forget it anytime soon. Now to convince my library to purchase it…

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publishers. I was not required to provide a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Wow! I finished this book in two days because of how excited I was to see how Megan was going to conclude this rendition of Esther’s story, and I was not disappointed! The warring within Astra/Novalise was felt and I felt myself wondering how Alpha was going to find the solution she and the Alphanites needed. But as Alpha says, “I am the Way.”
The romance between Astra and Zadien was beautifully written—showing the hardships that come when pride enters in, but the redemption is well worth the trials. I also appreciate that Megan doesn’t shy away from romance and public displays of affection as many Christian authors may be tempted to do. The romance is innocent but does stir up real desires that both Astra and Zadien feel. So thank you for tastefully but accurately displaying that, Megan!
I also loved the added POV of Declan as he becomes more of a real person with real struggles, whose motivations are sometimes mislead, but are all for the good of his people—the Alphanites.
The only thing I would have loved to have seen more of is Dahlia! I wish there were more interactions of her, Lynelle, and Astra as they were some of my favorite in the first book. But overall, very well written and a great way to conclude Astra and Zadien’s story. The ending that follows surprises me but has me wanting more!
(Thank you Megan for giving me an ARC! I look forward to interviewing you!)

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Megan Schaulis is a brilliant writer. This book was incredible, and it is definitely going on my to-be-reread pile.

I loved Protector, the first book in this 2 part retelling of the story of Esther, and couldn't wait for the release of Proclaimer so that I could find out What Happens Next!

Proclaimer literally starts where Protector ends, so I highly recommend reading Protector first, and then immediately follow with Proclaimer.

In Proclaimer, we continue the incredible dystopian tale of Astra, Zadien, Declan, Alpha, and the rest of the beloved characters from Protector. There is mystery, intrigue, romance, action, incredible spiritual depth, and so much more. Add a gorgeous cover to the latter and you have a book worthy of an award.

You will not mind losing sleep in order to read this book, and if they ever make this into a mini series, I will be first in line to watch it.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher, for which I am very grateful, but the opinions are completely mine, and I can't wait to read what Megan will be writing next.

Such a wonderful conclusion to this duology. The characters never did just what I thought they would, and I was more in love and in awe of Alpha at each turn. I recommend this book to everyone!

When I read Protector, I wrote that I simply must know what was next. Megan Schaulis finally answered my call (and the call of other readers, I am sure), with an absolute jewel of a sequel. Astra, Zadien, Dex, Hatch, and the whole cast are back, and they are better than ever.

Megan's characters have grown in myriad ways since Protector, and it shows. Here, Astra is both a levelheaded, logical heroine, and a struggling young woman whose love for her country regularly clashes against love for her family and people. Pair that with the ups and downs of a developing, forbidden love for Zadien, and you have all the makings of a brilliant character arc.

Astra's character arc works brilliantly against Zadien's, as he both settles into his role as king and fights to determine who he really is, what he really believes, vs. what all the "wiser" voices in his life expect him to believe. Zadien in particular gets some great development in Proclaimer. He could've been overly impulsive and temperamental, a beat for beat retread of King Xerxes or worse. Instead, he's the perfect mix of mature and immature, wise and foolish, that he should be, not only for the plot to work, but for his character to work.

Megan also made some great choices with the secondary characters in Proclaimer. They are my favorite types of supporting characters, because no matter how much page time they have, their roles are so vital, it's hard to call them secondary. In Proclaimer for instance, we get several chapters from Dex's POV and thus, some wonderful insight into his character growth. We get a few hard-hitting, yet poignant scenes with Hatch, one of which is not a traditional plot twist, but brings up unexpected emotions without manipulating the reader. As for Lynelle, Dahlia, Hej, and the other Enhanced...well, their roles are my favorites, but I can't go into any of that without dropping a spoiler.

What I will go into, is how well Megan constructed her plot. Proclaimer is one of those rare cases where I would say, the sequel is almost better than the original. As with Protector, it's targeted for YA, but more than engaging enough for adults. Better, I loved how, when taken with Protector, Proclaimer is not a retread of the Esther story.

Don't get me wrong--the underpinnings are there, and those make for some strong spiritual threads. But making Astra a bodyguard rather than a candidate for queen right off, was again, a brilliant choice. In Proclaimer, it truly shines, given the action scenes and the technological components of the kingdom, Hayden's plot, and so forth. Further, using the underpinnings and spiritual themes of the Esther story, but not all the plot points, gave Megan more room to develop her characters and explore deeper emotional and spiritual struggles, without going against the heart of Scripture.

As always with a book like this, there are several "popping," sparkling scenes. As always, I encourage readers to find their own. But as you read, you might find such treasures as:
-Astra forming the Protectors into a solid team, and letting them get to know Zadien as a person*
-Dex's secondary romance with Lynelle, as well as Lynelle's history, which contains a couple small but relevant elements that influence the plot
-Astra's "girl time" with Lynelle and Dahlia. Even a professional bodyguard needs her girl time. :)
-Zadien communicating with Alpha--really, any time Alpha communicates with anyone. It's a somewhat risky way to write the spiritual thread, but it works here because of the environment, without falling back on cliches about how the Alphanites have been treated
-Astra's meeting with Hej and the other Enhanced*
-That final battle--oh, my goodness!*

* = Personal favorite scenes.

I could go on all day, but rather than continue to gush, I'll simply encourage you to read Proclaimer, and Protector if you haven't caught up. I guarantee you'll love both!

Wow! Proclaimer by Megan Schaulis was an awesome conclusion to the Susa Chronicles duology. I loved the first book! The author had left us on quite the cliff hanger and I was greatly anticipating the release of Proclaimer. Oh my goodness did this book excede my expectations.

(Just a warning if you haven't read book one, there are some spoilers in my review for the first book)

This duology is a dystopian retelling of the story of Esther from the Bible. In the first book Novalise, aka Astra, fights her way through multiple challenges and against many nano-tech Enhanced women, to become the Chief Protector to King Zadien, a man she is falling in love with. However, as the first book ends, the king announces his decree to eliminate all the Alphanites, the believers in the one true God, a religion that has been outlawed since his grandparents' time. A group who is believed to be responsible for his own father's murder. What he doesn't know is that he is being lied to on multiple fronts. One of his chief staff members has ulterior motives and is manipulating him. Additionally his Chief Protector is hiding her identity as an Alphanite. And of course, he is falling in love with her as well, so you know there are going to be feelings of betrayal at some point in the story. Will their relationship be able to overcome the lies and deceit? What will it take to bring about the truth of the council member's betrayal? Will Novalise end up having to betray the man she loves to bring about truth? Needing to know the answers to these questions kept me scrolling through pages into the early morning.

I loved the relationship between King Zadien and Novalise and was rooting for them to overcome the obstacles in their way. I loved the very real, personal relationship that Novalise had with God. In these books Alpha actually spoke to Novalise and some others in their minds. And they were able to reply, have a real converstaion. But even then He didn't give them all the answers. They still had to trust that He knew what was best and choose to do His will, even when it looked like what He wanted them to do didn't really make sense from their point of view. Novalise had the closest relationship with Alpha, and even she questioned what she was being told to do and would try to do things her way, or the way of others who were advising her. The story is a great example of learning to put one's trust in God.

I found the way the future world was described quite intriguing, though a bit unclear at times. The future technology was interesting to read about, and a bit scary to think about at times. But I don't really want to give any details that would spoil the discovery as you read the story.

If you know the story of Esther from the Bible, it is really cool to notice all the parallels, and you can sort of anticipate what might be coming in the story. And wonder how the author is going to work things into a future, dystopian world. I think she did a wonderful, believable job. I'm just sad that this was only a duology. Because I love these characters and would love to read more about what happens to them in the future. Thankfully the author did a perfect job wrapping things up, and not leaving anything hanging.

As a warning, there is a battle and talk of murder, and we discover some disturbing things about what happens to rejected Enhanced women. Human trafficking is brought up. However, when it comes to the relationship between King Zadien and Novalise there is nothing beyond kissing.

Proclaimer is definitely a book I highly recommend. Just make sure to read book one first.

OMG! Or should I say OMA? (you´ll get it when you read it), this book was amazing and I literally couldn’t put it down!
This is the sequel to PROTECTOR, and I have to start by recommend you to read this one first. If you haven’t read it, you’re lucky that you don’t have to wait for the sequel, as I did! Because these stories, and its characters are completely addictive. Like reading into the night kind.
I won’t describe the plot because it’s kind of complex -a dystopian world- and you can read the blurbs, but I can assure you that it’s fast placed plot with lots of unexpected twists and wonderful thought-provoking dialogues. The futuristic world created by the author is fascinating, with very advanced technology, but still with traditional customs as the King and the Royal family with its security system, the Council, and also very actual dilemmas, such as corruption, lack of religious freedom, manipulation, betrayal, human trafficking, etc.
The plot is faith inspired, because God -known as Alpha- is a primary character. But the way He is blended in the story never feels preachy. On the contrary it feels like a very close, personal, and friendly God, that loves his children, but will never impose Himself, just lights their thoughts and seeks for trust in Him, even if what He asks is not humanly logical. I loved the interaction between Alpha and Novalise (known in the story mostly as Astra): it was so loving and personal, even with banter. But not only with her, but also with other characters, depending on their opening to His voice.
The POV is not dual but triple and I loved that, besides Astra and Zadien, we had Dex’s point of view, which made it more interesting, as he is a key character to the story too.
The characters are so intricately described, that you feel that you are inside their mind while reading. I could almost feel their emotions resonating with mine! Both main characters have a deep growth during the story. They both face many challenges that will test their courage, loyalty, love, sacrifice and, ultimately, their faith and values.
Novalise’s character changed, from a young -coming out of age- girl wanting to live up to her brother’s expectations, to a young independent woman, self-assured (most of the time) and very loyal and courageous. Being named the Chief Protector puts tons of responsibility on her shoulders and she manages her -hesitant at first- team pretty well. Zadien changed even more, mostly thanks to Novalise, from an insecure and distrustful -thrown to the throne- King, to a mature man with leading skills and a compassionate, kind heart. And his love for Astra (her hidden identity name) was swooning to say the least! Love the romantic scenes, completely clean but with enough spark to make you sigh!
The secondary characters are amazing as well: Declan, Lynelle, Dahlia and the other Protectors, Lennox, Berg, and yes: Hatch! My heart ached for him!
All in all, this book has it all: forbidden -and enemies to lovers- love, royalty setting and events, danger, the evilest villains, lots of action and adventure, and a beautiful faith inspired message, all in one!
A very highly recommended and unputdownable book and series! I hope someone makes it into a movie or series!

Ever since reading the first book in this duology, Protector, I have been impatiently waiting for this story. It surpassed everything I was hoping for! After winning the Chief Protector role, Novalise has to maintain the charade to get to her ultimate goal, saving her people the Alphanites. The danger and tension doesn't disappear with the end of the trials. Only Alpha's voice guiding her to listen and way for Him keeps her moving forward. The added depth to the characters pulled me even further into the story. Watching Astra and Zadien's romance spark even more shows the heart of each. It was amazing to see them grow and mature into the roles they each need to fill. It was also nice to see and learn more about Declan, how he thinks and feels with his role in the whole story.
The setting has more glitz in the palace. The reader can see the chandeliers sparkling and the light from the city glowing. This all adds a deeper level to the book, letting the reader enjoy the entire thing even more.
Megan Schaulis adds to the knowledge of Alpha in this second installment. More characters are introduced to Alpha and the reader also gets to listen in on the conversations with Novalise. I love how natural and fluid the interactions are in the book . How He teaches His children as the relationship continues to grow and change.
The action is fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. There were twists I didn't see coming and loved hanging on for the ride. Others were snuck in where you may not see it until it is almost over and wondering how everything is going to work out. From the first page to the last I was entertained, thrilled, and then sad it was all over. Megan Schaulis is an author I now have on my automatic read list. She has the unique ability to create an amazing story and keep the reader entertained and enthralled from start to finish. You don't want to miss this Esther retelling, with a dystopian twist to keep the imagination firing. I received a complimentary copy of this book. If you haven't heard of or read Proclaimer by Megan Schaulis then you are missing out on a great read! Run, don't walk to your nearest bookstore to pick it up for yourself!  I would recommend reading the first book in the Susa Chronicles, Protector for better context first, but this book could be read on its own. I enjoyed Protector and honestly wondered if the sequel would be able to continue the exceptional experience. I am happy to report that Proclaimer has completely exceeded my already high expectations! I thoroughly enjoyed  Proclaimer and highly recommend it. This is an action-packed, intriguing story with dystopian themes, a retelling of Esther, and deep life lessons.
The complexities of the storyline made the book a gripping tale that was impossible to put down. The intense plot and emotional depth of the characters kept swaying my guess of what would happen next, keeping my interest.  I honestly wavered back and forth on several of the characters, especially Novalise's brother and his questionable character and actions.  I appreciated the clear references to faith and the importance of prayer and trusting in God. I also enjoyed the relationships that developed throughout the book and the change of heart that several of them experienced. I was not expecting the conclusion and the fierce fights, emotions, and deep human issues touched on by Ms. Schaulis. The character growth and development was so exceptionally well-done. I absolutely loved Proclaimer and cannot wait for the next book by Ms. Schaulis!!! This truly was an outstanding book and I am happy to highly recommend it!  Happy readings!Disclaimer: White Crown Publishing graciously provided me with a copy of this book . "The only way to save us is to betray the king I vowed to protect."

In a story that picks up immediately where Protector leaves off, this dystopian retelling of the book of Esther continues the tale of Novalise, or Astra, the bodyguard of the king and secret follower of Alpha. Is there any way she can convince the king that the followers of Alpha are not a danger to the kingdom? Can she save her people?

Be immersed in palace intrigue as Astra seeks to gain the king's favor for her people while also balancing the romance that has been building between them. King Zadien isn't evil but he has not always listened to the best advisors. How will he react when he finds out she's an Alphanite?

From the action-packed beginning to he explosive end, Proclaimer will have you racing through the pages with unexpected twists and turns to find out how the author wraps up this unique take on a much-loved true story.

Esther was my favorite book of the Bible when I was a little girl, and it was interesting to see it brought to life in a dystopian world. I struggled a bit with the attitude of some of the characters, but each of them undergo a transformation through the course of the story. I do think readers who enjoy dystopian young adult fiction will appreciate this one, and of course I loved tracking all the notable Esther moments as they played out in a totally new way.

I received my copy of the book from the publisher. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Megan Schaulis's Proclaimer is an incredible continuation of the journey that began in Protector. It deserves more than just a 5-star rating—it's easily the best book I've read in 2025! I was so captivated that I finished it in a single day; I simply couldn't put it down. This book will undoubtedly be added to my list of all-time favorites, and I can't wait to reread it soon.

Schaulis masterfully picks up where the first book left off, delivering an incredible tale filled with emotion and an epic conclusion worthy of the characters we've come to love (and some we love to hate). The story takes you on a transformative journey, leaving you changed by the end. Those are the most powerful kinds of books—ones that resonate deeply and alter your perspective.

I can't express enough how much I enjoyed this book and how I came to care for its characters. The way Schaulis weaves in themes of faith and a personal relationship with The Creator, the Alpha and Omega, is beautifully done. This adaptation of the Esther story has quickly become one of my favorites.

I highly recommend "Proclaimer" to anyone seeking a tale of love, redemption, sacrifice, and trust. The richly imagined world is one I wish I could visit, making it all the more bittersweet to leave. What a fantastic book from an equally fantastic author! Do yourself a favor and read this series—you can thank me later!

Oh. My. Word. This book was utter perfection. I've been not so patiently waiting for this second book in The Susa Chronicles since finishing the first book, Protector, last year. Proclaimer picked up right where we left off in Protector, so just beware this really shouldn't be read as a stand-alone book.
I admit to not always being the best at remembering past books and their plots, but I had no such problem with this book. Since it picked up right where the first book left off, and the first book left such a huge impression on me, I was able to be immediately drawn into the story.
I really love Asta/Novalise's character and her interaction with all the other characters, but especially with Zadien. The romance and chemistry between those two just leaps off the page. This book delves even deeper into the themes of trusting God, learning to trust who He made you to be, and fighting for what is right even when to the world it seems wrong. I loved how the author tied everything all together in such a satisfying way.
This book has it all, romance, intrigue, danger. It will keep you wanting to turn the pages until the very end. Definitely one for my keeper shelf. I'm still thinking about the themes in this book, and the struggles the characters go through, and it's been a couple days since I finished it. I'm also super excited to get to revisit these characters again next year when Hatch's story releases. This is a story world I don't want to say goodbye to just yet.
*I read an early ARC of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Wow. What a wrap up to this Esther duology. I was hardly able to put the book down. Honestly, knowing it was based on the book of Esther didn’t help much; I kept wondering how on earth GOOD would prevail and how there would be a HEA. Schaulis is apparently brilliant, and the ending is marvelous. It’s painful to think of waiting until next year for Rebuilder (A Susa Chronicles Sequel).

My only complaint with both Protector and Proclaimer is that there is a love triangle, which I despise. This one doesn’t get icky in any way, but love triangles in general make me sad because someone has to lose out. It’s not really a spoiler to say who if you’ve read the biblical book of Esther, and it is a relief to see that the poor man who “loses” gets his own book next. I didn’t even realise there would be more in this world, so that was a nice surprise—especially when I found I could not get enough of Schaulis’ writing. She has definitely joined my list of “must read authors.”

Violence: on par with the first book. Honestly, maybe a bit less, though there is an actual battle scene in this book.

Romance: clean. A few kisses but nothing is overly described or sensual, and I’m so grateful to Schaulis for keeping this so mild.

While I did receive a copy of this book from the publisher, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Proclaimer ever since Protector came out with such rave reviews, and this review is solely my own.

Every now and then, you hear about a book that just sounds perfect for you (in this case, it was 'dystopian royal reimagining of Esther' - I love dystopian, and royalty, and Esther's story so putting them together? Um, YES PLEASE!!!), and so you pick it up and hope. Hope it's going to be good, hope it's going to live up to the expectations in your head, or maybe just hope it's going to be worth picking up to read.

This one? Yeah, it lived up to expectations. It far exceeded them. When I started reading Protector (book one of the duology), I very quickly forgot I had any expectations at all because I was waaaaay too busy being utterly captivated by the book - Novalise's story, the wit and fun of the writing, the depth of the story, the challenges and hopes and dreams and fascinating way this Esther story so familiar became something truly special all over again. I may have complained about the cliffhanger but NO MORE because PROCLAIMER IS HERE!!! And so utterly makes that cliffhanger worth it.

The writing, the story, the brother/sister relationship (Declan is awesome), the message, the fun... If you like dystopian nanotech mixed with royals and beauty and great relationships and all the captivation of a brilliantly written story, seriously, go out and get this duology. It's amazing.

Ya'll Proclaimer did not disappoint. I absolutely adored Protector and was so excited to read this book. It was everything I could have hoped for and more. I don't even know where to begin because like the previous book I flew through this one. I definitely need to get them in physical copies STAT. My heart broke and was put back together about a million and one times throughout this story. There are twists and turns all over the place. While we know there are certain things which will happen because Esther is our base, I had no idea how we were getting there. There were so many intricate parts, and I was here for it.

This book has it all, faith, action, romance, and such amazing themes of surrender, obedience, and boldness. I would highly recommend this book just as I did the first. I can't say too much because I don't like to include spoilers and since it's the second in the series pretty much everything would be a spoiler. I can't wait to share this books with my daughter because Esther is one of her favorite Bible stories so I am excited to see what she thinks of this reimagining.

I love Megan's clever writing so much, I would have read this book even if it didn't have a plot. But it definitely has a plot and it disrupted my day because I couldn't put it down, especially the second half. You'll want to read the first book (Protector) first as this picks up where the other leaves you hanging.

Like the first book, this one is told through alternating points of view, but instead of just switching between Novalise and Zadien, we also get to see Dex's POV. (He's a pretty cool character.) Novalise is a formidable main character with a good balance of bravery and conscientiousness. The side characters keep the story from becoming too serious.

The whole thing with Alpha and the Alphanites is pretty cool. It puts God right in the center of the story without making you feel like you're reading preachy religious fiction while also making him very personal. If you think God is distant and passive, you should read this book.

No profanity or sex; violence is brief and not overly graphic. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and am giving my honest opinion freely because I seriously loved this book!

Astra aka Novalise has been given the position Chief Protector even though she isn’t really an enhanced. King Zadien is determined to destroy the people he thinks are responsible for killing his father. Astra must turn against her love to help her people or vice versa.

This is the second installment of a dystopian Esther retelling. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I can not wait for the series sequel- Rebuilder- that will release next April. This series has been a great mix of the essence of being where God needs you to be so God can use you and dystopian competitions. It teaches great lessons about listening to God without feeling too preachy.

This would be a great book for older teen girls- especially those liking books like Divergent or The Hunger Games. That being said, I am a fifty year and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Of course, I also teach high school so I read books for teens often because of that. If violence bothers you then these books might not be for you.

This is truly one of the best written books I’ve read in quite awhile. The main characters, Astra/Novalise and Zadien have a beautiful love story, but you wonder the entire time how it is going to work out for them. I love that the series is based on the book of Esther, but it doesn’t follow the story so closely that you already know what will happen with every aspect. The side characters are an integral part of the story and add a lot of depth and interest, like Novalise’s brother Dex and his love story, the guards, who are like her band of brothers, and the Enhanced, who are both awe inspiring and something to pity. I love how Alpha talks to multiple characters in the story, and how beautiful especially his relationship is with Novalise. I love the world this story is set in, and it’s fun to see the similarities and differences to our world. This duology is so amazing, and I’m so excited to have read the conclusion and that there will be spin off books to come! I was given an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Megan Schaulis has done it again! She has penned another outstanding book. I literally could not put it down. There’s so many wonderful things I could say about this book. First: I love that the story continues to build from the first book in the series. Second: there’s so much depth to each character. Third: Did I mention a beautiful love story already? If not, I’m saying it now. What a beautiful love story. Not only between characters within the story, but between Alpha and the characters as well. The flow of dialogue between Alpha and Novalise/Astra is magnetic and yet awe-inspiring. Reading their dialogue throughout the book caused me to self-evaluate my own relationship with my Alpha. The way the plot unfolds leaves no question in my mind that Megan Schaulis is a gifted writer!

Schaulis’s Protector promises an immersive romantic adventure that Proclaimer delivers on and then some. True to life, unique, and conflicted characters, many of whom share interesting bonds, will endear the reader to this classic story with a fresh twist. Pages team with enhanced female bodyguards, secret plots, a distinct dystopian world, and difficult choices that will pull every heart string in your chest. I absolutely cannot wait for book three in this stellar debut!

Pick up this series. You will not regret it!

Wow! LOVED IT! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I couldn’t wait to finish this book after reading the first one. This was a perfect ending to wrap up everything that went on. I loved the characters and the triple POV in this book. There were twists I didn’t see coming, all while keeping in line with the biblical telling of Esther, but in a different setting. Megan did a great job with this story, and the sequel was just as good, if not better, than the first!
I received a complimentary e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Can I give Proclaimer six stars? Or seven? So good! Not only is it the story of Esther put into a futuristic setting, but it’s just good storytelling.

The story of Esther in the Bible is one of my favorites and the opportunity to read Esther in a potential near future type of environment is really engaging.

I loved the redemption arc, the struggle to choose well when it seems like there were only two choices, without another option, witnessing the growth of the characters and the growth of their interaction with Alpha. Just so good!

Can’t wait for Hatch’s story early next year.

I was very glad this book was already out when I finished book 1, which ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I know what happened in the Biblical book of Esther, but wasn't sure how Schaulis would work things out in this retelling of that story. There were times I stopped and took a break because I was worried about what might happen to the characters next! But then I'd keep reading because I had to know what did happen. I had a hard time putting the book down when I was supposed to be polite to visiting friends :-)

This was a great conclusion to this series! I liked how the struggles from Esther were still there, but they were changed to fit the time and tone of the series. The struggles were real and allowed you to puzzle over their solutions along with the characters. Through it all, Alpha had a plan and worked everything out even if it wasn’t the expected method, which is so like our Father when we trust Him.

A fantastic read and excellent end to the duology! I was sad to have it end--but am also looking forward to reading both books now that it's complete. Schaulis's world-building skills are incredible, and I'm sure it'll merit multiple re-reads to fully appreciate that along with the sheer enjoyment of the plot and characters.

I love when I enjoy the first book and cannot wait to read the second in the series. The only thing better is when the second book is just as good. Proclaimer continued Novalise story and it was just captivating. I am so glad that yhe their book will be released soon. I cannot wait to see where the story takes me next. fabulous CF

The satisfying conclusion to the Susa Chronicles, the second and last book in this series will not disappoint. Young adults and older readers will greatly enjoy this conclusion to a Queen Esther retelling set in a future Persia. I highly recommend this series.

I think one of the greatest takeaways from this book is that God is always working for our good, even when we can’t see it. Parts of this story made my gut ache… parts of it made me laugh… parts of it made me tear up. But all of it pointed towards a God who never leaves us.

So so good! Such a great ending to the first book! Couldn’t put this one down either. Again, this book also strengthened my relationship with Christ and caused me to have a deeper hunger and thirst for him. Some parts are difficult watching some characters made poor choices, just as in the first one, but it all shows how God uses ALL things for the good and for His glory. So so good! Definite re—read for me!
