Smile for the camera and say… Murder? Everyone loves a carnival, with the aroma of fried foods in the air, colorful lights and music on thrilling rides, and tons of fun. That’s exactly what the crew from Maggie Mission’s donut shop was expecting, but when opening day arrived, things took a shocking turn.
On a brief and much needed break from selling her wildly popular mini-donuts on a stick, Maggie watched a lively photo op near the carnival entrance. Newly elected officials stood proudly beneath a freshly hung sign, but chaos erupted when the sign came crashing down. In the midst of the commotion, a body is discovered—and the death is no accident.
Unwilling to stand idly by, Maggie investigates, determined to find the truth. Between tense council meetings, mysterious motives, and suspicious behavior, she uncovers more than she bargained for.
With new allies stepping in to help, Maggie has to work fast to piece together the clues before the carnival results in yet another disaster. With enough suspects to make her head spin like the Tilt-A-Whirl, but no obvious motive, she has her work cut out for her.
Can she solve the crime before the last roller coaster stops? Find out in this exciting Culinary Cozy Mystery!
Miss Emma, of course you’ve written another … 🌟 ⭐️ 💫 ⭐️ 🌟 One of my favorite series! I love all of the characters even though Myra was being a bit much with her attitude. I suppose she just didn’t understand everything going on behind the scenes and she wasn’t actually angry with Maggie and Brett rather she was angry about the situation she and her husband were going through.
It’s always so hard for me to read a book where corruption and injustice are involved, but usually everything works out well in the end. The good thing about Ainsley’s stories at this point in this series is that the books are fairly short, so we get the great conclusions quickly.
I read this book in only a couple of hours and only had to fume a short time before the burn on the bad guys happened.
Can’t wait for book 44 and then 45 and then…
Next on my “Books To Read” long, loooong list is:
“V in the Valentine” by Kathi Daley, Book 32 from her The Inn at Holiday Bay series (published 2/4/25). This series is another small town cozy mystery one that is very clean and rated G.
While working in the donut shops food truck at the carnival Maggie observes a rather energetic photo session of the newly appointed city officials, when tragedy strikes and the sign comes loose killing one of the city officials….Or does it? Was it an accident or something else entirely. Maggie once again is put in a position to investigate to save someone close to her. I really enjoyed this book. I especially loved the teaser of possible things to come.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the publisher.
What a crazy tangled case and if the person who was killed wasn't killed, I had one or two others in mind I wouldn't care if the author had offed them, lol. But everyone with something hinky going on at least got their comeuppance. Maggie was at her best at the end when her pal Ruby helped her figure out the killer. And Orson had some of his best lines as the last paragraph in the book. He's always good for a chuckle…or ten!
This long running cozy series is one of my favorites and I was thrilled to see a newcomer addition to the series after a long ( to me) wait. The storyline was engaging and the mystery well plotted. Best of all the some of the characters showed a different part of their personality and got a bit feisty. This s definitely a book you don’t want to miss!
Maggie working on a new donut treats for the carnival. Her min donuts on a stick are a hit but soon a body is discovered. Once again she’ll do more than just sell donuts as she will be playing sleuth again. It’s a yummy treat you do not want ro miss.
