Rate this book
Escaping a nightmarish past, Hailey Hitchcock fled to a remote Victorian homestead...and fell into the arms of an avenging stranger. Old ghosts echoed through Tin City's "hatchet house," reviving memories of the bloodbath that had taken place within its dilapidated walls. But was it Hailey's unsettling recollections - or Rex Falcon's formidable presence - that sent chills up her spine? When chaos abounded on the blustery cliffside, the primitive falcon trainer swooped to Hailey's rescue.

Yet Rex's dark, piercing eyes and tightly coiled strength posed an even greater danger. As escalating threats aroused their forbidden desires, it became clear the house held all the secret answers. Secrets that someone would kill to keep hidden...

USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Rita Herron fell in love with books at the ripe age of eight when she read her first Trixie Belden mystery. But she didn’t think real people grew up to be writers, so she became a teacher instead. Now she writes so she doesn’t have to get a real job.
With over ninety books to her credit, she’s penned romantic suspense, romantic comedy and YA novels, but she especially likes writing dark romantic suspense and crime fiction set in small southern towns.

Alright, this one was very different from my last Intrigue novel.

The storyline was very clear, the stakes were high and I was invested in the characters involved, and it had a wham bang of an ending that, while coming out of left field, felt appropriate for something this soapy. It was a fun ride. The book gets a little bloody at times, and there were some truly creepy scenes.

Be ready for a degree of camp with this one, though. Our leads are instantly horny for each other, but hold off because... reasons? Rex Falcon is a one man island with a dark side. Hailey Hitchcock is a woman with secrets... some so well kept that she doesn't even know them. They are far from realistic, but were very fun to read about.

Recommended.

Started off strong -- but A LOT of sex -- them fell flat on about page 200. What happened to Rex' interest in the falcons and the eagles? Why didn't he mourn them when they were killed? Why didn't Hailey? Why didn't her memories return earlier, or why did they turn up, one by one, at such auspicious times? Then a twin brother who hid out (where??) for 20 years???? The house burns to the ground??? Not, no, negatory, POOR ENDING! It would have taken her years of therapy to get over the house, her ambitions for an antique store, being shot at, Thad Jordan's craziness, not just "with Rex's love."

What a Series this is turning out to be, I latterly just finished reading The Man From Falcon Ridge book #1 in the series FALCON RIDGE by Rita Herron. Let's say your heart goes out to both of these families that lost a lot that night 20 years ago. And going back to Falcon Ridge now to find clues and answers to what really happened that day. As Rex and Hailey piece together what happened they realize that being together felt right in so many ways. Finding out the truth will bring the murderer face to face with Rex and Hailey and what really happened and way.

Oh I love how it tells about Randolph and Victoria. She is such a strong woman and to have raised such an awesome son. I just love happy endings and the twists and turns of this story is so spectacular. I thought for sure the bones were Elsie. Now I can't wait to find out more. I know there is gonna be a story about Ava too. She has to get away from the Sheriff.
