This book grabbed me from the 1st page. Sonya, and her 4 year old daughter Katie was being terrorized by a mad man, and so was the town of Tin City. Most books always have a villain, but this villain was worse than any of the other villain’s I’ve read about. He was a real nut job, what he did to others made me sick. I guess this is a spoiler, because at the beginning they didn’t know if it was a man, or a bird, or half man/bird that was attacking people. Brack recued Sonya, and her daughter. Brack was the outcast of Tin city. When Sonya was brought to the hospital, people’s first thoughts were did Brack attack her? The sheriff still had his suspensions when Katie and Sonya told him that Brack had saved them. While Brack worked to keep Sonya safe, Sonya and Brack feel for one another. With both Sonya, and Brack feeling unworthy of love, it took awhile for their relationship to go anywhere and to strengthen. It reminds me of the saying, you have to love yourself first, before you can receive love. It was annoying to read of all the doubts they had of themselves. The author wrote in such a way you understood why they felt the way they did, and how their past had damaged them. Sometimes it takes a special person to tear down the walls we build around our hearts. Sonya, and Brack tore down each other’s walls, while trying to stay alive, and find the mad man that was killing women of Tin City. This was a really good book with action, suspense, and a dash of romance. You also will fall in love with little Katie. I love the way she speaks, she is just so cute!
Sample from chapter 5 an image of Sonya wounded and bleeding, lying in that snow the night before, flashed back, and Brack pressed the accelerator. If Sonya’s attacker was part animal and part man, then they were dealing with a mutant creature of some sort. But if it was human, the sicko might be afraid she would recognize him. Which meant that he might come after her again. And she might still be in danger.
I never read this series before, but I just finished up reading book # 3 in the Falcon Ridge Series and what a read. Public beware of a Nut Case on the loose and killing people just so he can get the one women he thinks is his mate. Now its up to a giant of a man that is suppose to be dangerous to get this nut before any more women is killed and the one woman who started this bears heart again before she herself is killed or the man who loves her.
This is definitely a great climatic ending for this series. I so enjoy suspense and trying to solve who the person is and it's always the unexpected. Me I thought it was the vet or the cartoon writer. I was really surprised to find out who it was. I also had hoped that the sheriff would have gotten run out of town over the false conviction in the first book. It's also sad people were still prejudice after all they put the family through back in the day.
Although I enjoyed this book, it isn’t going to be a favorite. I found the transition between scenes a little abrupt and not very fluid. Rita Herron is on my personal BOLO file and I’m looking forward to reading her other titles.
This was a really good mystery with a gothic feel. Easy to read, and the related falcon ridge books seem interesting. The fury sure does course through the hero's veins a lot though.
