New Earth Colony #1

Barbarian Prince

Rate this book
Noelle wasn’t unduly alarmed when the Amazonian women took her and fellow scientist/friend, Monica, captive. She reasoned that their own colony wasn’t far and someone was bound to come look for them and free them. In the meanwhile, she had an opportunity to study the all female society.

When the alien ship swooped toward the village, however, and sent the fierce Amazonian warrior women into a blind panic, she thought it might be time to panic herself … especially when she saw the fierce, huge, barbarian male charging down the gangplank and headed straight toward her.

Oh! Thank God I am finished with this story! It's got to be one of the worst I've read! Why does a supposed top scientist (which indicates intelligence, right?) act so idiotic? How could she be so completely stupid? Why does she not have the words Wait! Stop! Come back! Let's talk! in her vocabulary? And the editing.....Major Fucking Fail.

Noelle and Drak. Pretty formulaic story by this author and not one of my favourites. Noelle is part of a new colony on a planet that already has an intelligent species of humanoids, although they appear to be pre-technology. Another odd thing is that they appear to be only women. Noelle helps some of the other scientists on a expedition outside of the colony gates and is taken hostage by the nearest town of alien women. It would appear that they aren't as unintelligent as the scientists assumed and they also don't think much of men. Just as Noelle is making some headway communicating with the alien women, along comes Drak and his followers and everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Drak's idea of courtship is a drugging kiss and tossing the woman over his shoulder. As the story goes on, Noelle gleans an idea of what happened to change life for these alien people who conveniently look just like very large blue and yellow skinned humans. It was entertaining, but kinda fell flat for me. I prefer some of Kaitlyn O'Connor's older books like 'Sleeping With The Enemy" and "Dragon Lord".

Always loved this author whatever pen name was used (I'm aware of four) and I often thought that Ms O'Connor would give Nora Roberts/JD Robb a run as to who generates the most books a year.

However this one.. very disappointing... I see a bit of a trend in her work where there seems to be pages and pages of the heroine talking inside her head about the hero and the story line with very little fleshing out of the surroundings or tasks. I wouldn't recommend this one.. try the ninth Orb by the same author. Or the early cyber revolution stories.

Tossing between a two or a three, where do i begin... firstly whats with the virgin talk in the begining? The girl states that shes been with others so that the man will wait for a virgin. These talks just put me off. Its badly written, makes no sense and how the hell am i able to relate to the text because basically theres nothing that interest me. Then theres the sex straight after. Is this what books really becoming. Intimate scenes just to add an interest to a crappy storyline.

I didn't mind it. Not bad, not bad at all. It was not what I was expecting from what I read in the blurb but that was definitely a good thing. The plot and storyline was well developed, the characters were interesting and the world magnetising. The main characters didn't have any awful intolerable traits which I was glad for. It was a bit slow at times but still a worthy read.

Noelle was an actually competent woman. She even manages to escape! Completely! Mind you, deciding to take the child with her was a low blow and actually not her decision to make at all, lol, but just her competence was refreshing for a KOC book.

This was horrible! I hated it! I couldn't finish it! She was terrible! He was a dick!<---notice all the unnecessary exclamation points? This book is riddled with them to the point where I was pissed every time I saw one (which was often).

He was so quick to assume everything she thought and got pissed when it wasn't what he wanted her to think, without even asking her! This was literally a conversation that he had with himself, in his own mind, which is a little on the side of crazy but I don't judge. I'm one of those that if you know someone is new to your planet/customs, tell them a little about them instead of assuming that they will automatically know how to act, what to say, what is and is not acceptable. You know what happens when you assume, you look like an ASS. Then when he decided to look at it from her perspective, he decided to make a small change because it was for his comfort not because she brought it to his attention or didn't understand.

She is supposed to be this intelligent scientist that looks at things from a logical perspective. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't freak out from being kidnapped, homegirl has a pass on that. However, the constant bickering between her and the other girl taken was ridiculously annoying and not ok. I don't care who you are, if you're kidnapped with another and begin calling each other a bitch and insulting each other isn't a way to try and figure out how to get away. Regardless of how long you have known that person, be a fucking adult and figure out how to get free-then go ahead and call each other what ever your hearts desire. Also, being judgmental about the amazonian woman who leered at her in a sexual way and freaking out about it, but it's ok when a guy leers at you the same way? That's just fucking annoying. This book was written in 2015, and I know society isn't perfect and there are still those people out there in the world, but come on.

This book needed some major editing and proofreading before be set out into the world. I truly wish I would have listened to the reviews on this one because I'm kicking myself for pay $6 and some change for this. It was just chalk full of discrimination of the many variety, prejudice and assumptions that lead to everyone being a dick to everyone-and I didn't even finish the damn thing. I really wanted to like this, honestly I really did. It just felt like there was a shit ton of ideas piled into one haphazard "book". A little more time with the Amazons would have been nice for the start-but that's all I got since I only got to 44%. Couldn't bring myself to continue.

New Earth Colony I

Read through Kindle Unlimited, listed for $6.49 at 263 pages.
As a fan of k. O'Connor's books, I had signed up for this new one as a pre-order and when the publication date for it came, the order was cancelled saying that it wasn't released. I was a bit sad, I had been looking forward to it for a couple of months, but as it turns out, this bit of misfortune really worked out for my benefit...
I have to say, I was disappointed in this new book. I enjoyed the characters and the world building, but overall, the whole thing felt rushed and that is not usually a problem from this author. At 263 pages, this book falls at about half of the page count of most of her novels, but wait, this book isn't actually that long, this book ends at 75% (around 190 pages roughly, the rest is excerpts of other books), which is tiny for this author and explains that rushed feeling.
I also have to say that, unlike many of her other books, the editing leaves something to be desired.
If I had paid $6.49 for this one, I would have been very upset (although she has many books that are well worth that price, if not more). As a kindle unlimited book, however, I'm rather happy with the turnout, for the most part.
If this is going to be your first O'Connor book, choose another... so that you get to really experience what she's about!

Really? She fell in love with that guy? I generally like O'connor's books because of the worlds she creates in them, not because of the erotica part. However in this book erotica part was really really bad. They were only able to accomplish full penetration one time I guess. Other times were full of not being able to find the right place to put it in, and when found, not being able to put it in fully. O'Connor's chacaracters are lucky that they can have an orgasm really easily.
Hero was really really terrible. The place they lived were disgusting. And definitely no matter what the book says I do not buy that that man does not hurt women. He says it to his son, and he really does not hit her. However "hurting" and "hitting" are two different things. If you abduct women, rape them repeatedly for months, even give some of them to your men, then return them to their place just to come back later and steal their children from them, that's gotta hurt them really bad, right?
He was bad, sex was bad, heroine was too stupid to live, only the created worlds were fun so two stars.

Usually like alien abduction

This was just a mangled mess of decent ideas that never quite came together. The characters are so abstract, never displaying a personality just traits. Will try the others since I purchased them.

Interesting, and fun read. I enjoyed this book and can really understand how the heroine felt some men are just worth teaching.g.

I was actually surprised that I liked this book after reading so many negative reviews. This was a fun read and I liked the relationship between the hero and heroine. I'd definitely recommend it!!
