COMING September 26, 2019
It took them less than 12 hours to conquer Earth, and then 9 more years to finally demand what they've come here for—me.

Whatever dreams I have about my future are crushed within hours. The control I have over my life and my body is taken away.
I don't get to plan my wedding.
I don't even get to choose my husband.
I am stripped of my rights and my free will, and reduced to being nothing but the subject of their experiment.

The last thing I expect is to find love among the enemy. Tairan seems to be the only one who sees a person in me, although he appears to be keeping secrets from me, too.

When everything I hold dear is threatened, the only choice I have is to fight back. With no weapons or any combat skills, I will have to find a way to defend my love, my family, and our future from the evil that is in charge of our lives...

"I'll live, love, and die at your side. Always."

So this was a fair bit different to what I was expecting when I started.
That's not a bad thing at all just an observation.
So yeh I thought this was going to be some sci-fi smut which I adore by the way and it was just so much more.
Earth has been enslaved by an alien race who demand that wholly unremarkable Isabella Bruno be handed over or the population of earth will be placed in the firing line.
It's one life weighed against billions so Bella knows she has no choice but to comply with there demands whatever they may be.
A marriage to an alien spouse and Bella has no clue what these aliens ultimately want from her or even what they look like.
Isabella's new husband Commander Tairan Saryal is just as helpless as she is both of them under the thumb of an unethical tyrant with a major god complex.
These two individuals through so different also manage to forge a sense of connection intensified by there identical powerless situations.
So this was unusual and rather unique it was also a really enjoyable well-written read.
I liked both Bella and Tairan very much and this was a very emotional story.
I did find it slightly ironic that Tairan had traded himself with such ultraism and the results of that trade have put another innocent pawn in the exact same position as he was originally trying to avoid.
This was a lot more in-depth and emotive than I was actually expecting and also deals with some hard-hitting and deep-seated issues.
It wasn't perfect and I did have some slight niggles but on the whole, this was a really engrossing and imaginative read that I am happy to recommend.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Experiment.

Fascinating, intense, satisfying!
Not the author’s familiar demon subject matter, but fascinating and incredibly intense. This alien scientist, Professor Ricread, is about as demonic as a person can be! As for Isabella and Tairan, I love the way their relationship develops: how they begin to appreciate each others’ qualities. Isabella boldly negotiates for better treatment for both of them. Tairan declares himself: “From now on I’ll be your weapon and your power.” Considering their very rough start, it soon becomes apparent these two are meant for each other. The secondary players in this drama are well-developed, and interesting in their own right. Some of them help Tairan and Isabella as best they can. Bella’s brother, Tony, is quite a character! Try something new and exciting. I was delighted with the outcome!

"It took them less than 12 hours to conquer Earth, and then 9 more years to finally demand what they've come here for—me."

So it took me less than 12 hours to complete reading this book! That's how absorbed in it I became. I could not put it down. At all.

Hands down my favorite since Demon Mine. I was tense reading this book. I needed to know what happened next with equal amounts trepidation and excitement. It was with such sweet anticipation that I turned every page. The anxiety and fear I felt for the protagonists throughout the book balanced with the absolute love I felt for them. The main female character Isabella was such a fighter; I loved her will to survive.

I also really enjoyed the way that Marina Simcoe plays with the idea of color in the way that her inhuman characters relate to their worlds. It's a common thread through her Demons series and now in this book. And it's such a refreshing and beautiful way to associate with the world and characters' points of view.

I love the Twilight Zone and dystopian future vibes I got from this book. I cannot gush enough over this. Yet another Marina Simcoe book is getting added to my favorites wall.

I absolutely loved Experiment. How far would someone go when their race was on the brink of extinction? In this book, the villain was willing to go pretty damn far. Marina made me *hate* him, like truly get my anger boiling for this character. The hero and heroine were thrown together, forced proximity, given little choice in what they had to do, but despite that, they were able to form this wonderful bond. I love how each time they came together, the hero would say what he loved about the heroine. It was sweet read with a touch of darkness/angst that Marina does so well. Wonderful writing! I highly recommend, though I seriously recommend any book my Marina.

I absolutely loved this book by Marina Simcoe! It was unique and refreshing! An alien and human are thrown together for the betterment of the alien race against their will. It was beautiful to watch these two fall in love despite their situation and become advocates for the other, no matter what the agenda was for their species. Love conquers all and in this story, it totally does! Very steamy and romantic and super interesting! Definitely recommend! Five I LOVE ALIENS Stars!

If you are looking for alien-smut, this is not it. But the story and characters are so fascinating, the overall effect turns into an unputdownable alien thriller.

Dying alien race, human subject, an evil scientist...

This one had a familiar setup. Basically Mars needs women. However it was a fully developed story and not just an excuse for smut. There was also a rationale as to why the two races could procreate.

I really don't like the 'mars needs women' trope.

Like the alien race is having fertility issues so they kidnap/breed human woman so they don't die out. It always just makes me so angry at the people justifying it! In this book its both the human government, and the alien race-the Kealans- telling the h Isabella about how its the right thing to do, and that she has no choice in the matter. Ugh.

description

But despite my inner rage at this trope, I felt slightly better that the love interest-Tairan- was just as much a victim of the Experiment as Isabella. It made me not hate the romance at the beginning. I also enjoyed their love story, and was happy that they found both inner strength, and strength in each other as the story went on.

I think this is on kindle unlimited rn so check it out if your looking for an fun sci-fi alien/human romance

I've never read an Alien abduction book quite like this one before. < That's a good thing. ;) It was exciting, devastating, and heartwarming. Isabella is a fighter and I loved reading about her spirit. Tairan was gentle, understanding, and gathered strength from our heroine. I didn't know where the story would lead next. Two captives fight for survival and love. I enjoyed every minute of this book and couldn't put it down. Must Read!

I loved this book
I know I said that about every book by Ms. Simcoe but I due! Not demons this time but aliens!!

description

And of course, I’m excited!
Let me tell you this is not your average alien romance; for one, our alien is as powerless as our human heroine. They are forced to breed for the greater good of the alien racer under a megalomaniac scientist. Fast-paced, and full of strong action, nonsense heroine and broken hero fighting for freedom and their love. Will then win?

They conquered Earth in less than a day. It took them nine years to find her.

Isabella is devastated when officials come to her home to retrieve her and hand her over to the Kealans to be forced into marriage. No one knows why they are demanding her.

Once the ceremony is complete, she discovers that her husband, Tairan, is the best hope that his people have for survival as a species. They are both part of an experiment in order to see if they can reproduce in order to preserve the Kealan species.

As the two grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their differences? Will they be allowed to become a family? Or will they always be just an experiment?

I enjoyed this book but others may not. There is occasional cursing. There are also sexual scenes throughout the book that are for 18+. The book held my attention throughout and kept my emotions engaged. I really wanted to punch one character in particular in the throat many times.

I received an ARC copy of this book and my review is my opinion. As with all ARC's, there are typos and other errors that hopefully will be caught and corrected before the book goes live but the ones I came across did not detract from the book.

No matter the story genre, with this author the best thing to do is go with the flow and expect the unexpected. With that in mind and a fantastically compelling blurb in hand I dived in.

The outcome of a whole species rests on Bella’s and Tairan’s shoulders. Two separate people who have no choice but succumb to the will of others. Their treatment and captivity is questionable and somehow along the way a beautiful bond of friendship, compassion and ultimately love is forged.

This is by no means a light and fluffy read. It’s emotive and gritty and heartbreaking. Touching on raw emotions and pushing the boundaries of what’s decent, ethically right and morally acceptable. ‘Do the lives of the few outweigh the needs of the many?’

Marina Simcoe is a true wordsmith when it comes to creating worlds, characters and stories that push the boundaries. This book was all that and more...making for a fantastic and thrilling read that I did not and could not put down.

I hate captive romance, that helplessness always make me grit my teeth.
I loved the hero-heroine. I’m in awe of their grit, strength and struggles.
Dear god, the villain in this one was atrocious!
Epilogue was so cute!
Safe and recommended.

Isabella and Tairan are forced into a “marriage” and experiment, leading to a complex relationship between them. The love story was good and both MCs had a reasonably robust backstory. I would have liked more slice of life scenes to see them together, but there were a lot of big plot points that had to be covered. I was a bit disappointed in one of the ends for a major plot point, but it did fit with the overall tone of the book.

Spice: 2.5/5

Triggers: abduction, noncon, medical experimentation - author has list at front of book

Phenomenal Story!

Wow, this story had me on the edge of my seat in an emotional roller coaster ride. I was completely and utterly captivated! The story was full of suspense and intrigue with little twists and turns throughout. You will not be disappointed.

The main characters are fantastic and I absolutely fell in love with them. Isabella is a fierce and very strong woman who knows just how to fight for what is right in her heart. The things she and her body are put through are heartbreaking and tragic. There were many situations in the story that made me furious and so angry that I wanted to throw my book against the wall. I laughed, cried and became so angry at some of the characters. Being forced into a marriage with someone she has never met in order to save an alien species is an interesting, intense and highly realistic concept. But the atrocities that the main scientist does in order to save his species is atrocious and heartbreaking.

Her forced upon her husband, Tairan, may not be what she wants to begin with but he definitely ends up being her light in the darkness. Together they are more powerful than they know. Together they can bring down an evil and start helping to build a better future for everyone!

Everything about this story is fantastic. Amazing writing and world building. Highly recommend.

This isn't a typical aliens-enslaving-humans-for-their-nefarious purposes story. While Isabella is initially taken to try and keep the Kealan species alive, I liked that Tairan was an unwilling participant as well. They both came into the "agreement" on the same level, which showed them bonding in a believable way. This could have been an easy route to insta-lust, and I'm glad it wasn't. Even though the evil Dr. Ricread puts them on a short timeline to "connect", I felt their opening up to each other was realistic. Tairan was an excellent hero, starting out abrupt and matter-of-fact, but grows with Isabella's attention and love into someone who could finally show his emotions. Isabella was a brave heroine; coming from an average human background, her fortitude was believable without being over the top. Only thing that I didn't enjoy was that the final showdown and conclusion seemed rushed.

3.5 - 3.75 ⭐

This book is definitely a fine addition to a 'Aliens need Women' list. It's also part of KU.

The Kealans have been on earth for years with no demands, until they force ordinary Isabella to marry Tairan. In the distant past humans were taken from earth and left on another planet. The Kealans haven't seen a live birth in 10 years. Rather than go extinct they determine that Isabella and Kealan are compatible. Neither one wanted to marry but they had no choice. They are at the whims of a sadistic scientist. His only goal is to study and eventually breed out any human DNA to revive the Kealan people. Tairan is one of the last fertile men and must try to get Isabella pregnant then she must battle the odds to stay pregnant. I liked both Isabella and Tairan. The story moved at a good pace. I thought the ending was a bit too HEA, otherwise a decent read.

There’s something so wonderful about falling into a book and getting lost in the story. The mystery and world building here are extraordinarily well done. I started to read it and couldn’t put it down. It just sucks you in. It’s dark, creepy and irresistible. Is this story really gonna go there?! I won’t give spoilers, because the mystery is part of the whole experience, but I highly recommend it. This is my favorite from this author since Demon Mine. If you like Anna Zaires and her Krinar series, you’ll love Experiment.

This author had done it again. She breathed life into this genre. She is so imaginative. I was on edge while reading this story. The ANGST!! I think I got an ulcer. The world building is so well done. I was totally ticked that I hadn’t heard of this book and it’s been out. Super impressed with the ending and epilogues!! This needs to be a series. I highly recommend.

Not my favorite tropes, the captive breeding thing. The story is heinous enough, the MCs put through the veritable ringers, etc.

But the sex and attraction started almost immediately, and there's enough sex in the story to call it erotica, or at least adult.

Also, I'm not really the right audience for romanticizing procreation at all costs.

Experiment from Marina Simcoe was the SciFi Paranormal Romance I've ever read and it was really really good. I didn't know what to expect, but I gave it a try. It also was the first book I've read from this author. So let's start at the beginning.

The events at the beginning went a bit fast, but it really got better. The writing style was so good and the world that the author created was well described. I had the feeling I was in this world and could see all the beautiful things too. The characters play so good together and the author did an amazing job of capturing theri personality.

I like to use the word Extraterrestrials, because Alien reminds me to much of the movie 'Alien'. And Tairan is definetly not such an ugly Alien. In fact he is really hot and strong. What a man... *sigh*
The way he tries to protect Isabella is so perfect. And the way Isabella fights for what she wants, shows that they both are strong characters. I really enjoyed reading this story.

Incredible read !

What a story !!
Isabella is a young woman , living on Earth . It has been several years after Earth was conquered by Aliens who called themselves Kelans. Mostly , they have left the Earth coalitions to themselves, except for mandatory medical examinations.
A few days after Isabella 's medical appointments, she is packed off to Capital City , washed , waxed, shampooed , and stuffed into a wedding dress for her wedding . To an Alien !!!!! Doesn't matter what she wants or desires, she is now a citizen of Kelan, to do with as they please !!!!!
Say , WHAT ????

Isabella is not only frightened, she is wondering why her , why now --- as I would be !!!
And when she finds out what is expected of her , she is greatly disturbed .....

Commander Tairan is the unfortunate male who Isabella has " married " in this farce to keep the Humans unaware of the Kelans true intentions. He has decided that he will fulfil his duty , nothing more .These two have found themselves in an untenable situation, and they can trust no one , but themselves.

I found this incredible story to flow magnificently , and even against the odds , love prevail's , and would definitely read more from this Author !!!

something worth fighting for

So this was a good book and I was very excited to read it. These characters figured out what was worth fighting for and didn't give up even when things were tough. Now I will say this story was a little maybe darker than I expected, maybe darker isn't the exact word I'm looking for but its close. I mean it wasn't like extreme darkness of anything just maybe more struggle for our leading characters than I expected. But they say the best thing in life don't come easy and in this case that is true. I loved Tairan and everything he stood for, not to mention his hotness. The kaelan s also had some feature that while not super weird were still unusual and I don't think I've seen much of any of it in other stories. This story is rich with background and character development. Overall it's definitely sci-fi romance where our characters get a happy ending but this world and story could be added into later. And I would read another book with these characters or even some of the secondary ones like Tony or varlan. Good book would recommend.

Experiment is an interesting read about Isabella and Tairan. Earth is existing under the rule of the Kealans. Isabella quickly learns how humans must bend to the will of the Kealans, when she is forced to marry Tairan. She soon finds out that not all Kealans are treated equal and some will do anything to further their agenda. It’s bad enough that Isabella is now a human lab rat, but now people she loves are involved and she will do whatever it takes to free herself and her family.

Enjoyable read. Characters were entertaining. However, some areas of the story line seemed to fall flat. I think there was a real missed opportunity with Tairan. However, overall a good read.

I gave this 4 stars several years ago when I first read it, but upon reread now I’ve dropped it to 3.5. It’s a HARD read. Like, it gets rather sad at points. I’d probably have been a basket case in her situation, curled in bed, not eating or talking, letting myself slip away. The plot and premise is great though and kept me riveted. The ending was a bit abrupt though. We’re made to believe everything is hopeless and there’s no fighting this, then suddenly never mind, everything’s hunky dory now. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But hey, who doesn’t love an alien breeding experiment story?! Forced to breed is rarely a bad story. LOL.
