3.5 secretly chasing stars

Bristol just caught her boyfriend celebrating his birthday in-between the legs of another woman, Hurt and betrayed she ends it quick and gets her ass out of there so she can wallow in self pity and move on ... In her mind moving on meant to better things, and never in a million years did she ever expect to be the receiver of some sick joke ... or one she hopes is a joke.

It's one thing to have a secret admirer but when the notes and roses include intimate gifts and are becoming more private in nature she starts to freak out. Knowing her every move, every step as if he watches her every minute of ever day ...
You looked like you were having fun tonight. Good. Forget about that ungrateful boyfriend. He doesn’t deserve you. Soon, Bristol. Soon you’ll be mine and you’ll always be loved. I promise. X

Coming out of a relationship, being stalked, harassed and driven out of her home, she has no need for any more complications. And there is no bigger complication than Mason, the way he makes her feel scares her enough but she can't deny that he is the only one who can keep her calm, safe and protected, after all it is his job. This case hits close to home for Mason, bringing back memories and a vengeance to make this ending not one of sorrow, but of hope and happiness.

Chasing Bristol is a sweet thrilling ride, her admirer was seriously sick and so very good at freaking a girl out. Bristol had to deal with a lot, but it just showed her inner strength to want to fight ...even if at times she was in denial into thinking that it was all just a joke and brushing it off as nothing serious. I wanted to reach in my kindle and shake her, willing her to be safe and smart. Mason was a sweet hero, he had some inner battles, took his time and got his chance to make it all right. The spotlight however was to "X", he was forever on my mind, with thoughts of who and why and more importantly how ... and selfishly I wanted in his mind. This stand-alone read is one I enjoyed, I was engaged throughout with all different emotions running through me, it definitely piqued my interest and took me for a ride.

4 Stars!

I love discovering new authors and new books. This was a really good surprise, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it!

Bristol Armando wants to surprise her boyfriend on the day of his birthday, but she catches him cheating on her with another girl. She's upset and she just wants to forget about him.

A couple of days ago, Bristol starts receiving roses, notes and gifts. At first she thinks it's her ex who wants to win her back..

But things are going to far with this guy; she understands this isn't just a secret admirer who wants to win her heart. This guy is a stalker who is willing to do anything to have her.

description

This book gave me the creeps. I was on the edge of my seat throughtout the whole book and I was afraid to know how far things were going.

I have no idea what I would have done in Bristol shoes. She wasn't safe anywhere. It's not like you can do a lot when you have no idea who your stalker is.

Nonetheless, I couldn't help but yell at her "Don't go there! Don't do that! Go back!! ". I did that multiple times and I got so scared for her.

The stalker was just...sick and insane. I swear I kept thinking about this story for days and I kept wondering how people deal with this in everyday reality.

description

description

Bristol asks for help from the first moment she understands that things are going too far. She calls the cops, and guess who comes at her door.

description

Mason , the guy she had met a few days before while she was at a club having some fun with a friend.

Mason wants to help her and protect her..But how will the stalker react to this new guy in Bristol life?

This is a romance suspense book. I loved the suspense side of this book, not because the romance side wasn't good, but because I found the first one so captivating and thrilling.

I was affected by this read and I informed myself about stalking as soon as I finished the book. I read that each year there are 3.4 millions of stalking victims in the world. http://www.safehorizon.org/page/facts...
You know that stalkers exist and you know real stories about stalking, but sometimes you don't let yourself REALLY reflect on it.

This book is the second installment in the Finding Trilogy series, but it can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed it and I will go back to the first one soon!

I can't wait to read Amber's book. I hope it's the next..she was quite interesting!

I am really sorry to give this book such low rating since I got it from the author, but any other option would've been a lie. Honestly, this is poorly executed book considering plot, characters, relationships between them and suspense.

So, Bristol breaks up with her boyfriend after he cheats on her and gets her very own stalker. Somewhere along the way she meets Mason, a cop who helps her deal with the stalker. Not particularly successful I must add. I couldn't take investigation seriously. Bristol just stayed at home while someone nonchalantly broke into her apartment on a daily basis and cops did NOTHING about it.

The writing style consists mostly of dialogues, without any useful descriptions. The conversations are unrealistic and strenuous to read. And with the cherry on top, Bristol is simply horrible protagonist. There isn't one chapter I liked.

Bristol's stalker HIT her on few occasions, killed a dog and threatened to kill everyone she cares about, and yet she only cares whether Mason likes her or not. Besides that, she's shallow, mediocre brat. The only thing I respected was how she refused to get back to her boyfriend after he cheated on her.

Gah, Bristol and Mason were one of the worst couples I've read about. They absolutely had no chemistry nor any relationship development. Their conversations were platonic filled with poor excuse for flirting. Also, their happy ending came out of nowhere.

In her previous novels, Shane Morgan has proved that she is capable of taking pretty much any genre and writing an addictive story! Chasing Bristol is just another success for her! I was genuinely taken aback by how Bristol’s story played out; frightened for her safety, in awe of her strength and seduced by the romance.
Chasing Bristol is no ordinary New Adult Contemporary Romance. It is the story of a young woman being stalked to a life-threatening degree. Shane Morgan does not patronize her reader, instead the breadcrumb trail she leaves does not only lead us towards the actual perpetrator, but also points at nearly every male character in the novel.
Shane Morgan does not sugarcoat the danger Bristol is in either. There are some shocking and unnecessary deaths as her stalker attempts to control Bristol’s actions. It is Bristol’s determination not to be manipulated by this mysterious person which is one reason we have faith in her relationship with Mason, despite his suspicious behavior. Theirs is a romance initially born out of Bristol’s need for stability and protection and rather than the stalker separating them, he pushes them closer together.
One aspect of Shane Morgan’s stories that I really like is the fact that she steers clear from graphic sex scenes, which often seem obligatory in the New Adult contemporary romance genre. Instead, she intimates at the passionate moments shared between Bristol and Mason, leaving everything else to our imagination.
Chasing Bristol is a complex, but brilliantly formed novel and I cannot wait for any future releases by Shane Morgan.

I have to say that this book was definitely intriguing to me, most likely because I went into it completely blind and without reading one review. With that being said, I was quite surprised since I assumed it was one type of book and then ended up being something else entirely! However, it was a pleasant surprise that Chasing Bristol is a darker suspense read with a little bit of romance thrown in for good measure. The characters were very easy to relate to - their everyday lives, struggles, wants, etc. I liked the h, she was a strong girl, which we learned right from the very first page, but there were times when I wanted to clock her for being so naive and stupid. But, those are the best kind, right? After all, the book would be pretty boring if the main character solved the puzzle at the beginning! It also kept me guessing from beginning to end, which I absolutely love in a good book.

This book had a bit of everything in it: lots of stalking, suspense, lust, love and a little bit of spice! Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and will absolutely be reading more of Ms. Morgan's work in the future. Well done!

He cheated on her in the bed where they made love and she caught him, with his pants down, so to speak. Crushed, Bristol needs to move on, learn to suck it up and not worry about finding another relationship until she was strong enough to trust again, if ever. When the roses from a secret admirer started, she was confused, flattered and curious, although not about to get caught up in a relationship, if he ever revealed himself. Then her mystery admirer crossed the line and became a dangerous stalker.

Enter Mason, a former school mate, a policeman and an almost too good to be true friend and protector, how did he know when she needed him most? Was he her secret admirer or just a cop doing his job, going above and beyond the call of duty? When things get dangerous and deadly, who can Bristol trust? Where can she hide? Is she safe anywhere? Will Mason prove to be her Knight in shining armor or her worst nightmare?

Chasing Bristol by Shane Morgan had me worried at first, not because of anything in this intriguing novel, but because of the phrase *Can be read as a standlone.* I’ve fallen for that one before, but, true to her word, Shane Morgan’s Chasing Bristol CAN be read alone, but this kind of reading and writing begs to have the other books in this series read because the tale is THAT good!

Throughout each page, there is a feeling of an unknown threat, as we are led into the deepest reaches of one young woman’s fears with no way out but forward! Ms. Morgan’s characters are fascinating, sometimes frustrating and once, I even told Bristol she was too dumb to live, all because of her rash actions or inactions. Bristol is very complex, while Mason seems a bit of a mystery in himself. Is he hiding something? Is he the stalker? The only way to the truth may cost Bristol her life and possibly the lives of those around her, is she ready for what lies ahead? How could one girl be so unlucky in love? Even her dysfunctional family provides little comfort and Mason, well, Mason has his own ghosts to contend with. Full of surprises, darkness and a mystery that is not easy to solve, especially when there is only one person who knows all of the answers. Great reading, even as a stand alone!

I was fortunate to receive this copy from Shane Morgan in exchange for my honest review.

This novel was just so, so, so amazing!!! I absolutely LOVED IT.

Chasing Bristol is filled with so much suspense, romance, and just a level of pure creepiness that translated so well from the pages. The entire time I was reading, I found myself guessing as to who Bristol's "secret admirer" was, while Shane was successful in stringing me along and proving me wrong just when I thought I was right, and then distracting me in a different direction.

Bristol was also such a relatable character for me because like her, I'm often told I can be "too nice". She's genuinely nice to everyone around her, which is how she ends up in a situation like this--which I find entirely too creepy and just WRONG because being nice to people shouldn't be a reason for something this horrific to happen to you. Nevertheless, I found her to be realistic, determined, and ultimately strong--except for the few times I wanted to throttle her for belittling the situation she was in. But I forgave her for these scruples because of all the stress and feelings of not having any control over her life. Her one shining light seemed to be Mason, who was kind, protective, and even more determined than she was to keep Bristol alive. And I loved him for it.

Overall, I loved everything about this novel! I was completely captivated from the first page and did not want to put it down. It was nice seeing Julian and Seven again from the first novel, and in much happier times. This has quickly become my favorite novel by the wonderful Shane Morgan, so I absolutely recommend this romantic, suspenseful thiller!

Even though it’s not the first thing you think of when seeing all the details, but dang this book has one heck of a thriller concept haha. Shane Morgan has written yet another great book, I really enjoyed this book, I flew through it like nothing (hence I couldn’t put it down and made everyone leave me alone). The entire time I was reading this book, I was on the edge of my seat going oh my gosh what’s gonna happen next, oh my gosh what is she going to do, why aren’t they doing anything, holy crap this is really creepy, yada, yada, ya. I could not stop questioning everything in this book, but I guess that what happens when it’s a suspense novel.

Even though the story was focused on one path, I really liked how something was always happening, even when you would think things would calm down for a second, there was still something going on, so this entire time you are reading there is no way of putting down the book.

The main character Bristol oh my gosh, I literally just wanted to cry for her, because what she endures throughout this book I can’t even imagine how completely terrifying it would be to live in fear everyday like that. Even when she Is scared though she is still a strong women and I really admired that about this character, she never gives up or truly gives in and she even tries to push forward when people are telling her to not, I love that determination.

Anyone who is looking for a book that has a mix of romance, a ton of suspense and just a book that you can immediately fall into it, check out Chasing Bristol!

Shane Morgan has created a wonderful vivid cast. The book is
full of great characters which readers will love plus plenty of
suspects who they will love to dislike.
The reader will find quite a tangled web of clues, secrets and lies
uncovered. There was tension that was thick and well-sustained.
The author presented the tough questions and issues involving
being stalked. It also showed how a stalked person should never
try to do things on their own without some of sort protection .
The book covers deceit, betrayal, viciousness, with faith,
friendship, trust, forgiveness and love. The story weaves
intrigue,mystery, drama with some romance.
Chasing Bristol is a story that keeps you flipping though the
pages trying to guess who the stalker really is. This is a book is
an exciting read which I recommend it highly.
Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

Bristol is trying to move on from a cheating ex. The last thing she wants are roses, gifts, and suggestive notes popping up at her apartment and at work.

Bristol’s secret admirer is determined to have her for himself, no matter what. Will she have the courage to fight when control and privacy is being taken from her?

Once again, I want to thank my friend, Shane Morgan for emailing me an ARC E Copy of Chasing Bristol . I have been eager about book for quite a while, ever since I read Finding Julian So I was happy when I was provided with ARC. Even though I loved Finding Julian, I enjoyed Chasing Bristol even more. In my opinion, it was the most emotional, most suspenseful book that I have read by Shane. There wasn’t a moment in this book that didn’t keep me on edge of my seat, from the moment that Bristol started receiving mysterious notes, gifts. From that point on, I was hooked and kept on turning the pages, eager to see who it was. In the beginning I thought that whoever was sending the gifts, the flowers was sweet. What girl wouldn’t like to receive flowers? I considered Tyler at first too, especially since he seemed too eager to get her back. I would think that would be one to try winning her back. However the moment she confronted him about, I knew that it wasn’t Tyler, which had me wondering then who was it?

Julian & Amber: First of all, I loved that Julian was mentioned in this book as well. Second, Julian & Amber are a definition of what true friendship is like. They remind me a lot of couple of my best friends. No matter what was happening, both of them were by Bristol’s side. Once Bristol figured out that the ‘admirer’ been to her house and watched her, they came to her apartment without hesitation and even stayed the night, offering to stay another one with them. They were always there, when she needed them the most. I believe that she wouldn’t hold on as long as she did, if she didn’t have her friends by her side. I loved their friendship. That’s what true friendship is all about.

There wasn’t a page that wasn’t filled with some sort of suspense. Multiple times I felt as afraid, like Bristol was feeling about this secret admirer. Especially once he started killing, now that’s an obsession that went too far. I was afraid that eventually he would kill everyone that she loved, till he got that he wanted. Her. All through the book I was eager to find out who it was, and how he came across her to begin with. I also couldn’t help but wonder if it was someone that she knew. There was almost no piece of privacy, no freedom from moment the notes and gifts started appearing. Fact that she didn’t know his name or how he looked like, made it harder to catch him. If I was in her situation I don’t think that I would make it, as far as she did. For me, it would been almost impossible, I would freak out more that she did. That’s what I loved about this novel, it was so realistic, something that people could see happening in real life, something that others could relate to. I could see a vivid image of everything that was happening to Bristol. Filled with so many emotions.

Now Mason, how could you not love him? A guy in a police uniform, who wouldn’t love him? I loved how much he cared about Bristol; how he did everything he possibly could so he could protect her. If only every guy was as sweet as Mason was. From the moment that two of them met, I saw the sparks between the two of them, the way that the two of them looked at one another. Fact that he was the one that Bristol called when there was more trouble, how he came to her rescue every single time. Doesn’t that sound like a couple that belongs with each other? I could tell that Mason was one guy that Bristol felt safe with. When there were together, without any worries that put smile on my face every single time.

I have been reading Shane Morgan books for a while now and there wasn’t a single one that didn’t take my breath away. Chasing Bristol wasn’t any different. A book that I read till I reached the end and afterwards found myself thinking about. If you love suspense, drama and romance, Chasing Bristol will have you on edge of your seat and afterwards you will crave for more. Beautifully written.

Bristol just walked in on her boyfriend cheating on her, the start of a spetacurly bad week. Her mom doesn't understand why she'd break up with Tyler (the ex) just because he cheated. She's not sure what she's going to do when her internship ends. And to top it all off, she keeps finding roses and little blue notes outside her door...

Stalker stories really...intrigue me? I like them because they tend to be a little creepy and I'm a little fascination with how people can get obsessed with each other (I hope that doesn't sound too weird). On top of that I LOVE this author. I haven't read much of hers but what I have I love. All together I NEEDED to get this book even though it's a companion novel to a book I haven't yet read. This sat on my Kindle for awhile and then I decided randomly to start it one night and flew through it. I really enjoyed it but not as much as I wanted to.

Let's talk:

Characters: I'm not sure how I feel about Bristol. I liked her, definitely. But she wasn't anything special I guess? She wasn't unique. A smart, pretty girl. I was never even sure what exactly she liked? She was an intern at a publishing place, and she helped plan parties? What's her job? She's about the graduate, what's her major? If it was mentioned, I missed it. Now, I did like her but I didn't really understand her that much, I think.

Mason (love interest) was also cliche and a little boring. I kind of wanted to strangle him. He'd been through the whole stalking thing before with his sister, yet he wasn't even really helping Bristol! He kept saying he was going to "keep her safe" and all this but, I mean, what exactly did you do? Did you give her tips on how to handle this? No, not really. Did you try that hard to catch the guy? No, not really. Also, it was a case of Mason having liked her from afar when they were in high school and there wasn't a lot of development of the relationship because of that. It was borderline insta-lovey.

Side characters: I loved the side characters. Bristol's best friends, Amber and Jullian. Her ex, Tyler. Her mom and dad. There were some nice relationships in there, some complicated ones. I love it when side characters add so much depth to the novel, which was definitely the case in this book.

PLOT/Stalker: The plot was fine, it was great. The whole book was fast paced and so well written. I loved the stalker aspect! So creepy! So horrifying! But at the same time I wanted more from it. I never really felt like Bristol was taking it seriously and even when she did, when she started to get really fucking creeped out, I didn't FEEL that. I never even really felt worried for her life.

The end: I was disappointed by the ending. The climax just happened so fast. It was bam, bam, bam. One thing after another and there wasn't enough tension and the big reveal wasn't that big of a reveal. It just left me wanting more from the book and I never got that more.

Overall: I feel like I focused a lot on negatives but overall this is a really good book. I think, had I connected more to the characters and liked them more, I would've loved this, but I didn't. It had amazing writing and a great premise it just fell a little short for me. Also, of course, I don't read a ton of New Adult so that could totally throw off my reading of this New Adult novel.

Would I Recommend This? Yes!
Who To? New adult readers.
Will I read more from this author(or series)? Yes. I still love this author and I am curious about the companion novels to this.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

Author Shane Morgan has done it again - she has taken a subject that is hard, painful and very real and has made it into a story that is filled with respect, love and friendships. She has brought back some of our favorite characters in this book, such as Julian, Bristol, Tyler and Seven and introduces us to some new ones (Can we say Mason....swoon....). She has also incorporated more mystery and intrigue into this one. It is a whirlwind of twists, turns, loops and curves and the reader can never get one step ahead of her.

The story is about Bristol and her "secret admirer" who becomes a bit menacing and outright sick throughout the story. Bristol is forced to leave her home, her friends and everything she knows and loves. The story is so fast paced that the reader doesn't want to stop for a minute because they need to know what happens next! I felt like every time I had the plot figured out the author threw another curve into it and I had to start all over again. I loved it!! I love not being able to guess what next and I love that the author did include all of the things that could happen when someone is being stalked.

Shane Morgan continues to write amazing books, each one a little better and more exciting than the one before it!! I wouldn't be able to name my favorite book by her as they are all amazing and make the reader want more! Make sure you check this one out and her others - they are all can't miss books!! I am already looking forward to her next one!

WOW! I thought I loved Finding Julian, but Shane made me fall in love with Chasing Bristol, especially Mason Daniels. Shane had me guessing from the beginning who could be Bristol's secret admirer. Could it be the smoking hot officer, Mason who she met conveniently right after her cheating ex and her broke up? Could it be her ex trying to win her back...or could it be someone else? While trying to figure out who her mysterious and creepy secret admirer (or should I say stalker) is, we learn about Bristol's family, especially her conceited mother who is all about status and her feelings rather than her own daughter. We learn that Bristol's trust has been bruised since Tyler broke it and whether or not she should give in to the temptation that is officer Mason. Not only is Bristol broken, but Mason is broken as well and we learn about his hurt and pain and how both Bristol and Mason heal each other. There was such a subtle hint at who could be this secret admirer and I rode the train on that hint and I was surprised to find out I was right but I was hoping I was wrong. It sure was an unexpected ending to the story knowing what we learn while reading the story and finding out just what a creep Bristol's admirer was. Even though there was such suspense and loss in this story, there was passion and love bloomed from loss, fear, and healing. I truly enjoyed reading this novel and I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy!

You can read the full review and more on my blog.(:

I haven't read Finding Julian, so I came into this novel not knowing what to expect- and so can you. The books in this trilogy can be read as standalones, though if you have the experience I had, you'll want to read the others!

Chasing Bristol is the perfect bridge into NA for younger audiences (like me) and the perfect book with suspense for the fainthearted (also, unfortunately, me) therefore making it a book I can recommend to a lot of different people. Also, the girls featured in this book go through terrifying experiences but stay strong and resilient throughout, something I loved that makes Chasing Bristol a great read for those looking for brave and capable heroines.

What I was worried about when picking up this novel was predictability. The majority of mysteries that I've read (granted, not too many) have had me rolling my eyes with their obvious-ness. I can happily announce that this happened with Chasing Bristol- because I TOTALLY FELL for the red herrings in the beginning(: However, don't come with too high expectations- your jaw won't drop, but it's not the person you guessed.

The novel is a short one, without any subplots or anything. Not a complaint, I liked it as it was.

Bristol life was going good but then she caught her boyfriend cheating on her and then life started to go downhill. Suddenly she is being stalked with roses, jewelry, lingerie and notes popping up everywhere.

She meets Mason who at first thinks he is her stalker but she later on finds he is a police officer and could not possible be her stalker. But the stalker seems to know her every move when she ends up changing locks and installing security as he enters her apartment at his whim.

Meantime he ex keeps trying to get back together with her, could he possibly the stalker As things escalate from drugging her as he threatens to hurt other people in her life if she does not return home.

Will she end up getting hurt as the stalker gets more and more dangerous? Will it be too late when his identity is revealed? This is a compelling storyline of what it is like to be stalked and the perils.

I had the honor of beta reading Chasing Bristol. Let me begin by saying that with every new book, Ms. Morgan only becomes a better writer. Each story and its cast of characters is so refreshingly different from the other. Chasing Bristol is tense and creepy. With every new gift Bristol receives, I wondered who her stalker was. She's a wonderful character, honest, strong and independent. Bristol also has two great best friends. What a support system (after what she endures, she needs her friends). And Mason is tremendously swoon worthy. It was also great to catch up with my favorite couple from Finding Julian. Part thriller and part romance, Chasing Bristol is a fast-paced and satisfying addition to the New Adult market.

Chasing Bristol is the second book in The Finding Trilogy. It can be read as a stand alone. It was one of those books that I just didn’t want it to end. There was never a dull moment....I could not put it down till it was finished. I loved how the characters from the first book were brought back and some new ones were also introduced. If you like Romantic Suspense books you don’t want to miss this one!! This was another fantastic book from Author Shane Morgan. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!!

This is the second book I have read from this author and let me say I was not disappointed.
I really enjoyed the suspense that is throughout the story. It was to the point that I felt totally creeped out for Bristol. I couldn't imagine being her and feeling the way she did throughout, yet she handled the situations she was put in with strength and courage. The entire time you wonder " who is this guy" and how did he get so messed up?
Thank you for writing a page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat!

I really enjoyed this book. I found it to be a bit of a slow started but boy did it pick up pace towards the end - it really gripped me and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!! Bristol was a great character, and as a massive fan of crime books and psychological thrillers this book was right up my street. Looking forward to reading more from Shane Morgan in the future - highly recommended.
