When Amelia travels with her late-husband’s hockey team to Winterhaven, Alaska for a friend’s wedding, she’s hoping for a calm vacation. Instead, she’s met with eager reporters, an aggressive moose (how was she supposed to know its babies were close?), and Hudson, her late-husband’s brother, who’s acting … strange. He’s one of her best friends, so why does it suddenly feel awkward around him? Hudson has been in love with Amelia since freshman year, and he’d do anything for her. Even pretend not to be in love with her so they could remain friends after she married his brother, and he’s not going to change that now. But when they both show up to the same wedding, fate (and a meddling hockey team) is making it impossible to keep his distance. When the team’s matchmaking antics leave Amelia and Hudson stranded in the middle of the ocean together, though, it’ll take more than just wits to get these two together. It’ll take heart.
This story was absolutely amazing! I had a ton of other books on my to-read list, but I was searching for a shorter one to dive into and I'm so glad I chose this one! I had recently read Rosie and the Beast Next door. So I was already familiar with Dylan and Rosie, which made returning to their world even more special as I got to see Amelia and Hudson's story unfold.
Hudson is Amelia's best friend and the brother of her late husband. He’s always had feelings for her, even back in college. But when Amelia met Shiloh, his brother, Hudson recognized their connection and stepped aside so they could be together. Tragically, Shiloh passed away too soon in an accident, Amelia will never forget how Hudson paused his life to take care of her a Quinn while she grieved. She had never realized how much she needed him, and missed him until he was gone. Now, during Rosie and Dylan’s wedding festivities, they cross paths again, and all those old feelings resurface. But this time, it’s feels different... Could it be love? But with the guilt they feel over their love for Shiloh, they question whether it's a good idea. And whether if it's worth risking their friendship for a chance at something more.
This story has so much depth! Everything from the tragic accident involving Shiloh, to revisiting old memories with Hudson, Amelia, and Shiloh, to the countless laugh-out-loud moments and swoon-worthy Hudson scenes. I mean, can he save a life... or what?! What a guy!
You all need to read Hudson and Amelia’s story! I devoured it in one sitting, it was absolutely worth it!
This sweet second chance novella was everything I hoped it would be…and more. Hudson and Amelia are in Alaska for a wedding and between an aggressive moose, a mischievous hockey team (go Matchmaking Mommas), and wedding shenanigans, things go awry and not only deliver situations that are precarious, but also bonding.
Amelia and Hudson are such fun characters on their own, but together? Perfection. From karaoke to a rickety dinghy to a dilapidated cabin to injuries to flirting, this novella packs it all in and Baldwin does it beautifully.
It was so much fun to see this relationship move past the friend zone and to watch Hudson interact with cute little Quinn, Amelia’s daughter. Watching this friend and family group in action, especially the group texts was such a delight. Everything about this darling story is a treat.
Content: mild romance; mild moments of peril/danger; off page sibling/spouse death

I’ve really enjoyed several of Baldwin’s books! The way she wrote the chemistry and the characters’ struggle with grief & loss was just beautiful.
What didn’t work for me was the premise and that’s based on personal preference. I’ll the first to admit I loved the dynamic between Hudson and Amelia… I just didn’t like the fact that he was her dead husband’s brother and had been in love with her forever (though he never insinuated it while she was married to the first brother). Again, that’s just personal opinion. :)
Content: Hudson and Amelia strip down to their underwear and cuddle after being dumped in the ocean and have to try to prevent hypothermia; mentions of reading palms; lots of physical noticing (muscles, legs, curves)
This was such a cute follow-up novella to the series. I loved getting both of their POVs and seeing Amelia and Hudson fall in love.
Content Guide: Language: none Sexual Content: passionate kissing Violence/gore: Mild-dire peril Substance Use: None that I remember, might be light social drinking Prejudices: none Religious Content: none Other: Death of spouse (past, but mentioned many times), grief from death
After reading Rosie and the Beast Next Door, I immediately began reading this novella. Having met Hudson in Rosie and Dylan's story, I definitely wanted to see him find his happily ever after with the woman that he had always loved.
Hudson was an amazing character. The way he stepped aside years earlier, regardless of his feelings, based on the fact that Amelia and his brother, Shiloh, fell in love, showed what a good heart he had. He continued to try to be the best brother, best friend, and best uncle that he could be. And knowing that he had dropped everything to help Amelia when Shiloh died also spoke to his good heart.
I loved seeing Amelia begin to awaken to her feelings for Hudson. I loved both this story and Rosie and Dylan's book. This one really spoke to my heart, though.
This novella was so much more than I had anticipated! It is an achingly sweet friends to more, single mom, almost second chance story with a bit of a suspenseful twist that just piled onto the depth—yet it was also laugh out loud funny too! I can’t believe how much was packed into this short story.
TW: Widow, Loss of Sibling (past), Life-threatening Accident (on page)
After reading (and loving) Rosie and the Beast Next Door, I was super excited to read Amelia & Hudson’s story! It was short and sweet—in true novella form, but I loved it all the same!!
Hudson has had a crush on his best friend Amelia for years. When he introduces her to his brother Shiloh, and they immediately hit it off and end up getting married, Hudson keeps his feelings to himself. Now, 10 years later, Amelia is a widow after Shiloh was in a tragic hockey accident and she Hudson are still best friends. He’s been amazing to help her and her daughter Quinn through their hard times. But, spending a lot of time together, has both of them feeling things for the other one. Thanks to some wild animal encounters, and some meddling friends, these two may just get their happily ever after!
I thought this was such a sweet story of Hudson finally getting his true love and Amelia getting a second chance of happiness with her best friend!
Favorite quotes:
“He grinned, the full one that made me feel like sunshine was lighting up inside of me. It had been way too long since I’d seen that smile.”
“I worked on it and tried not to think about my knuckles brushing against the silky material of the dress. Or the strip of tan skin near her shoulder that showed when she tilted her head to the side to check on Quinn where she was running around with a few other kids playing a game. Or how I wanted to wrap my arms around her waist and bury my face in her neck.”
“I couldn’t imagine my life without Hudson. Without him, I never would have met Shiloh. Wouldn’t have Quinn. Hudson was the reason I had been able to pick up the pieces of my life again after I went through the worst thing that could ever happen to me.”
“Amelia.” He took my hand and brought my knuckles to his lips, kissing them gently, his action stealing the words from my mouth. “What if it all works out?”
This book has it all: shenanigans, family, misadventures, animal craziness, yearning, sweetness, and all the feels! Winterhaven is amazing! Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
As expected, Kaylee Baldwin delivers a great story with tons of funny moments. The tropes of best friends (him falling first) but also brother’s widow was a little different for me. You can’t help but feel for Hudson when Shiloh and Amelia meet. Hudson proves himself to be loyal in so many ways between supporting Amelia and Shilohs relationship to uprooting his life to be there after Shilohs death. I loved how Amelia’s love shifted into romantic love for him.
Favorite parts: -kissing for “science” -the matchmaking momma’s group chat… hilarious. Also Rosie is hilarious in her scheming. -their rescue.
Favorite quotes: In my mind, Hudson’s presence had always been a given. The iambic pentameter in a Shakespeare sonnet. The layered meaning in a seemingly simple Emily Dickinson poem. A marriage at the end of an Austen novel. The steady, predictable beat my life marched alongside since freshman year of college. One I would be completely lost without. More than lost. Devastated. But what was I to him? I didn’t know, but I was determined to find out.
I’d always suspected he was a superhero in disguise, and I was right.
Hudson has been in love with Amelia since he met her. He steps aside when his brother fell for and married her. After his tragic death, Hudson was there for Amelia and her daughter Quinn until he left for work in the Alaskan town he grew up in.
Now they are back together for Rosie and Dylan's wedding. Because of antics of their friends, they are stranded on an island in a storm with dire circumstances. They are forced to finally open up their hearts and find what they really feel for each other.
I love that everyone has their backs as they watched those two fall in love. Even though the two MCs know it's difficult and maybe a bit awkward because of things life handed them. I love the symbolism of the blue bird that is sun twice in this story... Beautiful and inspiring.
This one was so cute and funny! I also didn't see the suspense coming but it kept me on my toes and I loved that added layer. This one was an emotional roller coaster! I was on the edge of my seat and so invested. The fact that the love interest was the MMC's brother's widow caught me off guard but I still enjoyed the story very much.
Matchmaking, a charging moose, a shipwreck, and wedding festivities all come together to make this an unforgettable book! I loved Hudson and Amelia! It took time and some heartache to get there, but I love how they found their way to love. Little Quinn was absolutely adorable too!
Oh my goodness!! I got this book as part of the newsletter novellas All the Ways to Fall in Love and I’m definitely going to read the other ones in this series. I know they happen before this one but once I started reading it I couldn’t stop!!!
We didn’t even have a whole story about Amelia and Shiloh and I still grieved with her and even cried a little at a few parts (read: every blue jay scene). Usually the single parent stories are about other situations other than the death of their spouse and that doesn’t make them less than these types but there’s definitely a little more emotion in them for sure. Especially when that couple was as in love as Amelia and Shiloh seemed to be and that’s just from the short snippet in the beginning and a few of Amelia’s memories. I love seeing them learn to love again and realize while it’s not going to be the same as the first time it will be its own kind of wonderful. This one is also different in that Shilohs brother was also in love with Amelia but kept his feelings concealed because Hudson felt like Amelia deserved someone as outgoing as Shiloh. Boy the reasonings we come up with sometimes lol. But I do respect Hudson for what he did because like he said it gave them Quinn and it did I love her! She was the cutest thing ever!!
Amelia realized once she got back in touch with Hudson how much she needed her best friend and soon realized that it was for more than just the feeling of being known and safe with him. I’m glad she listened to understanding friends and in laws about her feelings and such instead of shoving them aside thinking she was being disloyal to Shiloh.
And sweet sweet yearning Hudson! Loving his best friend for so long but being afraid to tell her resulted in him hiding his feelings till he just figured it’d be easier to be a nomadic doctor in Alaska than stay longer once Amelia and Quinn were back in their feet for the most part. Grief doesn’t ever leave but it does fade to a small thing once time has its opportunity to heal you. But of course plans change and soon he’s thrust back into their orbit and realizes how lonely he’s truly been. And no matter how hard he tries to conceal them, things start to leak out and soon he finds himself at the mercy of well meaning teammates and fiancé of his late brothers hockey team. While things go quite awry in the middle of a ring fetching excursion it does give Hudson and Amelia a little more clarity into their feelings and what’s truly happening between them.
And after surviving crazy events and accidents they finally admit to their feelings and become an adorable little family!!
The group texts were highlights of this book and Quinn was the cutest thing ever!!! And gotta say the abandoned cabin chapters were probably my favorite next to the last few and the epilogue.
Rating: 4.5/5 I received an ARC for my honest opinion
This story is about Amelia and Hudson. They have been friends ever since college, and Hudson has had a crush on her since then. He was just too shy to do anything about it and then he lost his chance when Amelia met Shiloh, his brother. He stepped aside after seeing the connection between his brother and Amelia, but it wasn’t easy for him. When his brother passed away from a horrible hockey accident, Hudson drops everything to support and comfort Amelia and Quinn (his niece), and not just because he thought he would get some much-needed points but because his best friend needed him at her worst time ever.
This book was just as amazing as Rosie and the Beast Next Door. Baldwin knows how to write a story with so much emotional depth. You will see loss, love, forgiveness and so much more in this book, it really does have all the feelings. This book is fast paced, with it being character driven. I know that some people might find it a little weird that Hudson and Amelia get together, but the way that the book is written you will not be feeling that way. This is a story about someone who loved a woman so much that he stepped aside to allow their story to play out, he was still in the picture but as the bff and fun uncle. I loved getting to see these characters come out of their shell more and to see how their whole family/friends were all rooting for them. Amelia feels safe with Hudson, and he is seen by her, the real him.
Amelia isn’t sure of all these feelings and why they are showing up now, but she can’t hide how he makes her feel and how her daughter feels having him around again. Amelia is sweet, caring, scared and unsure about life now that she has lost her husband and is just trying to figure out what is next in her life now. I didn’t feel as though it was far-fetched on how Amelia was feeling about everything, but genuine and that is all due to Baldwin's writing style she allows you to be able to connect with her characters. I loved that nothing went as planned and everything was all crazy and accidents happening, but it felt real to me or like I was watching a Hallmark Romcom. Hudson’s feelings of not sure if he should let her know about how he has loved her for years or if he should move on. I didn’t mind watching him overthink everything because I know that I am an overthinker and I think that allowed me to connect with him. He is also so sweet, caring, and is a hunk of a male if I say so. Seeing how good he was to Amelia and Quinn without even really thinking about it, has me thinking of a video I saw where this guy put his hand on the edge of the table so his gf wouldn’t hit her head when she sat back up, yup he is just that kind of guy.
My favorite parts of the book were the moose scenes and all the meddling family/friends text group talking.
I need the next book and soon please!!!
I want to thank Kaylee Baldwin for the opportunity to review this book.
This book was a sweet, heartwarming second-chance romance with a charming Alaskan setting! Here’s what made it unforgettable:
❤️🔥 The Chemistry – Amelia and Hudson's history, combined with the forced proximity of the wedding and then , created a slow-burn romance that was so satisfying. The way their feelings resurfaced and evolved was beautifully done.
💙 Hudson’s Devotion & Hidden Feelings – Hudson's long-held feelings for Amelia and his selfless act of keeping his distance from his brother made him a likable and sympathetic character.
💔 Amelia’s Grief & Healing – Amelia's journey of grieving her late husband and finding the courage to love again was handled with sensitivity and grace. Her emotional growth and her eventual willingness to embrace a new beginning were touching.
👫 The Meddling Hockey Team – The hockey team + Rosie's matchmaking antics were a fun addition to the story. Their attempts to bring Amelia and Hudson together provided some laugh-out-loud moments and added to the overall charm.

🎉 Final Verdict: If you love second-chance romances, charming Alaskan settings, devoted heroes, and heartwarming stories of love and healing, this is a must-read!
Amelia and Her Prince Charming (Enchanted Forresters #3) by Kaylee Baldwin
Kaylee Baldwin delivers another beautifully written romance in the third installment of the Enchanted Forresters series — and in my opinion, it's the best one yet.
The story follows Amelia and Hudson, whose deep connection began back in their college days. They've been best friends ever since, though Hudson has always carried a quiet torch for her. However, fate had other plans, and Amelia married Hudson’s brother — a bittersweet twist that adds emotional depth to the story. Now, with Amelia widowed and grieving, the question lingers: will Hudson finally get the chance to win her heart?
The chemistry between Amelia and Hudson is heartfelt and authentic, filled with tension, longing, and the kind of slow-burn romance that keeps you turning pages. Baldwin handles the themes of loss, loyalty, and second chances with tenderness and grace.
Simply brilliant — a deeply emotional, feel-good read that I highly recommend.
The premise of this novel is a little… uncomfortable. Not necessarily wrong, but just a little off. Hudson is in love with Amelia but then she meets his brother and they get married. Now the brother is dead and the story is about Hudson and Amelia getting together. This took me forever to read because I kept forgetting about it. It was mostly quite bland except for the part in the cabin. That was good. It was a little confusing as it was part of a series but one of those that is supposed to be stand alone and doesn’t tell the reader it’s a part of a series until the end. There was Hayden and Hudson and Lia and Lyla (or something like that). As a matter of fact, I wrote Hayden at the top of this review originally. Why did the author give the characters names that were so similar? I also think the title is really dumb because the book does not paint this as a Prince charming story in any way or say that Hudson was better than his brother. It was dumb. Do not recommend.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the books in this series and would be hard pressed to say which one is best but the male main character in this book, Hudson, is an easy pick as my favorite. Because of the book title I thought this might be a “royal romance” but the reference to “prince” refers more to Hudson’s sterling qualities of kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness, loyalty, and capacity to love deeply. He really was a prince of a man. This was a best friends-to-love story that was filled with good friends, a dangerous adventure or two, and some amazing kisses backed by deep feelings. It kept me turning pages late into the night. Highly recommend! Note: One important character in this book has passed away tragically prior to the start of the book and the other characters are still grieving his loss. Just mentioning this as it could be a potential trigger for some. I received an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own.
I loved the way this novella opens. Amelia is in the parking lot of a restaurant in Alaska. And all of a sudden she hears the unmistakable sound of a moose. And...it charges her. Lucky for her, her brother-in-law Hudson is right there to save her by throwing her in a dumpster.
I loved the way the reader knows how Hudson had felt about Amelia since they were in high school. He loved her before she met his brother, all during their marriage, and when he cared for her and his niece after his brother's freak accidental death. And it's obvious to everyone around them.
Which is why Rosie decides it's time for some matchmaking during her wedding festivities. I loved the way she tries to push them together over and over. It even becomes dangerous for them at one point. But...you'll have to read this one to see if it ends up working.
I loved this novella so much! It's such a quick, easy read.
I’d flung my arms around him and started ugly-crying, with the red-blotched face, snotnose, hiccupping breathing and all. But I was so relieved he hadn’t left, even when I tried to be the bigger person and push him away. Because the fact was, I needed my best friend. I needed Hudson.
But he was acting off, and I didn’t like it one bit.
Amelia and Her Prince Charming is a quick read that will entertain you from start to finish! Hudson and Amelia are a dreamy couple – but one that takes a little bit of convincing to get them to both see it!
Things to love: Dumpster Diving Secret Crush Matchmaking momma’s text thread He saves her Banter Swoony Kisses
This is a sweet second chance at love. Amelia and Hudson had met in college and became good friends. When Amelia met Hudson‘s brother Shiloh, they quickly fell in love, married and had a beautiful baby girl. Hudson had to put aside his more than friends feelings and become the best brother-in-law he could be. A few years later and after tragic circumstances of Shiloh passing away, a wedding is going to bring Amelia and Hudson to the same town and all of the wedding events. The story is a feel good, witty, entertaining romance. It’s got hockey players, dumpster diving, shipwreck, and don’t forget the match making mamas. This is a clean, wholesome Romance with no foul language. It is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
The title is somewhat misleading in two ways: one, it makes it look like it will be a light read. The book deals with grief and moving on from losing a brother/husband. It has humor and isn't given a super heavy-handed treatment, but we can't avoid the elephant in the room.
Second: prince charming? Would that be princes charming since there are two - Amelia's first husband and then Hudson? And Hudson's personality is definitely on the introverted side, so while he's amazing, I don't know the charming is the first descriptor I'd reach for - really, it seems to fit Shiloh perfectly. But even though he's dead, he's certainly a main character in this book.
Complaints aside, it's a very heartfelt book and lovely story about Amelia being able to love again.
This was super cute!! It was fun to see characters I’d read about in other books, to see how Rosie’s story ended and to see Charlie & Bennett before they were together.
It’s a super sweet storyline about second chance at happiness after tragedy.
The island scene was unexpected and seemed kind of intense for this type of story if I’m being honest but I still loved reading it (it’s my kind of plot so I didn’t mind). It just seemed like a weird addition for what storyline was if that makes sense. It was also shocking to read such a tragic death in description for a side character. I’ve never read that in a rom com before so I was taken back.
This was a perfect blend of emotions and hijinks, love and danger, romance and adventure.
Hudson and Amelia have been friends since college and Amelia is now Hudson’s brother’s widow. They get the chance to reconnect at a friend’s wedding. There they face some matchmaking mommas and life threatening situations.
Highlights: Moose incident Amelia’s daughter Quinn is adorable The matchmaking mommas are hilarious
I love Amelia for her bookishness. I love how determined she is.
I love Hudson for being brave and steady in a crisis. I love that while he is reserved, his joy is contagious.
“Our friends are going to kill us trying to get us together.”
This is a short but sweet story. Hudson fell hard for Amelia when they were studying together in college but she fell in love with his brother, so Hudson took a backseat to their romance because they were both so very happy. Then his brother died in a creek accident leaving Amelia and their daughter alone and grieving. When they both arrive in Winterhaven, Alaska, for a friend’s wedding weird things begin happening. It seems like someone is trying to prank them, kill them, or make them fall in love. They are not sure which it might be. I suggest you read their story to discover which is correct.
A beautiful love story in a beautiful setting. This is part of a series but can be enjoyed without the background of the other books. Amelia is the widowed wife of Shiloh who was a hockey player. She'd met Shiloh through his brother Hudson as they were in several classes together and were close friends. After Shilohs death, Hudson helped Amelia and her daughter Quinn get through their grief. They're now in Alaska for their close friends wedding. Happy endings after several harrowing happenings.
This is a wonderful second chance story. I loved the way Amelia and Hudson’s story came about. She was married to his brother that died in a tragic accident. Hudson met her first and was just being a friend even though he felt more for her than that, but he didn’t let anything show until a while after his brother’s death. I loved the crazy matchmaking friends and the crazy ideas they came up with, but one could have been very bad but it made them admit their feelings for each other. There is great banter, swoony kisses and words. A fantastic, perfect, great quick read!
Hudson had a crush on Amelia since the first time he met her but when he saw her with his brother, Shiloh, and how happy they seemed, he took a step back and left them alone. When Shiloh passed away he was there for Amelia, until she no longer needed him. Years later they meet again and old feelings pop up, will they both be ready to be together or will memories be too strong. I enjoyed this funny, dangerous, romantic story. There are so many interesting characters that I want to get to know better.
This novella is the third part of the enchanted forresters series. I absolutely adored this novella. It gave me so much more understanding behind the story of Amelia, Shiloh and Hudson from book 2 in the series. The angst behind Hudson’s feelings just pulled me in. There were so many harrowing moments in this story that I couldn’t put it down. In the end this love story was everything I had hoped for from Amelia and Hudson.
