Clearwater Monsters #3

Starstruck with the Krampus

Rate this book
All I want for Christmas is…the man I can’t have.

Gianna
Mr. Koch is my design company’s most important client, so I’ve been daydreaming about the handsome supernatural for months, held back by my boss’ rules.

But now his contract with us is finished, and I want to make my move–only I’m not sure Mr. Koch is interested in me like that. What if he only sees me as a silly little human with a crush?

Dominic
Staying away from Gianna has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve invented every possible reason to have more meetings with her–just to be able to sniff her delicious scent.

On Christmas Eve, she’ll be mine. I’ll finally tell her how I feel. Because this sexy little human has been having naughty thoughts about me, and I intend to fulfill every one of her fantasies.

Starstruck with the Krampus is a cozy monster romance that features a Krampus hero who likes shiny things and a human heroine who’s not afraid of being tied up with twinkle lights. You’ll love it if you enjoy horned heroes with special equipment and stories where the spice is the plot.

This was a quick read and feels very insta. They’ve worked together for almost a year but in a client/designer relationship so have had to fight their lustful thoughts for each other. I did wish for a small amount more of development. They were drawn to each other in such a way that it eclipsed getting to know some of the basic details about it each other. That’s how insta books tend to roll, I’m just not usually in the mood for that, but I was excited for this back when it was originally releasing last month. It’s entertaining and I inhaled it in a couple hours. I do think other monster readers will rate this higher.

Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, om tries to force h to come with him at a party and H takes care of that realllll quick. Both seemed to be experienced but no real history given.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Human FMC aware of the supernatural world
☆ MMC wear a glamour in public
☆ Krampus MMC so horns, tail, hooves, etc. and he can hear naughty/bad thoughts
☆ Piercings and some vibrations
☆ Dual obsession in a cute way (he lightly stalked her)
☆ Age gap (I don’t remember if her age was stated but he’s in his 40s)
☆ Little bit of praising for him
☆ Itty bit of breeding kink/instincts

Gianna (h) is a graphic designer and Dominic (H) is a big client for her company. They’re meeting for the last time of him being her client so she’s planning on making a move. He’s worried about not being right for her so mentally wavers on whether he should pursue her or not. They agree to meet at her company party. Lots of lust floating around. At the party, Dominic rescues Gianna from her boss’s son making an unwanted advance and terrifies him using his powers…which prompts Gianna to ask him to reveal what kind of supernatural he is.

Naturally, she’s curious but not scared of the whole Krampus reveal. Cue more lustful imaginings as they try to keep up appearances for their remaining time at the party before ditching it to go do all the spicy things to each other both have been fantasizing about. I liked that they’re equally obsessive about the other and possessive. I think if there had been more references to them forming a personal connection (instead of just fantasizing about each other) over the year prior, I would have enjoyed how quickly this flowed more. But the spicy scenes are good and Dominic is packing monstery special equipment.

I didn’t love that . The author did include details such as him purchasing gifts for her as early as right after he met her and having clothes available at his house, before he was even sure if she'd ever be there. Her mom and grandparents immediately embracing him at Christmas was super adorable and a nice touch too. The ending is HEA and more cuteness and steam. They’re together, have a child and another on the way, and get some adult time on Christmas Eve too.

This was very much a spice heavy low plot romance story with a human woman and a Krampus who were lusting over each other for a year until they could express how they felt. Gianna was independent and a generally good sort of person. Dominic was possessive but still all about that consent and checking in. It was a sweet story.

Spice; 5/5

Triggers: sexual harassment, mind reading, heat of the moment mate biting, stalking-ish behaviors

2.75 - 3 stars!

Starstruck with the Krampus was…ok. There was a lot of insta-everything and I didn’t like how the heroine tossed herself at the hero. The hero was fine but felt a little flat but his dirty talk was pretty on point.

“You came into that conference room smelling like a godsdamned dessert. I wanted to throw Webber out the window, spread you out on the table, and eat your pussy until every single person in your office knew who you belonged to.”

Sooo yeah, this was short and smutty and forgettable but not bad.

I am really loving reading these holiday romances post holiday season. Call me a rebel.

Zoe Ashwood writes the best cozy monsters and I will die on this hill. Honestly, it could be summer and I’d still be loving these holiday romances.

Gianna, our FMC, doesn’t back down from ANYTHING…and I love that about her. She’s strong, funny, and unbothered. The way she and Dominic fall so quickly for each other makes me upset at my husband for not being that obsessed with me. I mean hell, they’ve been pining over each other for long enough no wonder their chemistry is insane!

Gianna has worked with Mr Koch for a while. She has gotten where her body actually reacts when he's near. She has really filthy thoughts about him. But she puts those down as fast as she can. After all someone like him wouldn't want someone like her. She's human. But it doesn't stop her fantasies.
Dominic has noticed Gianna. She smells delicious and those thoughts she has...it's like he's plugged into her mind. Under her prim and proper persona live a woman with filthy thoughts.
Their business together is almost done, just a few signatures to be had. He is going to their Christmas party which seems to surprise his human. That night at the party her boss decides to play matchmaker with her and his son. When Brandon gets very inappropriate Gianna pancs. That's when Dominic steps in and takes Brandon with him. Gianna follows and finds them in a room. She waits while they finish their business. Then they talk. She finds out what he did to Brandon and it doesn't bother her. Then she asks to see his true form. Dominic is ready for her to bolt but Gianna just looks at him. Then she discovers that he could read her thoughts. NOw she wants to be with him. He sees what she wants and he tells her as soon as they leave the party he will make it all happen.
They leave the party and head to his place. Will all her dreams of what she wants him to do to her come true?
Will Dominic want her for just a little while or will he keep her forever?
Another story detailing a little know monster known as Krampus.

I loved this sweetly spicy Clearwater Novella!

Gianna spent a whole year resisting the instant attraction for her client at work but now it's almost Christmas and their contract is over meaning she can finally make her move....

Starstruck with the Krampus is an insta love/lust high heat with sweet and funny moments. Loved every word & devoured it in one sitting! *chef kiss*

Zoe Ashwood just knows the right way to get a read fully absorbed in to the story. This is no exception.
A wonderfully steamy novella. You could feel the tension between the Dominic and Gianna from the start and it just kept building. I love the fact it's set at Christmas but instead of the usually sunny holiday fun it brings the alternative Krampus story to life.

Absolutely loved this little Post Christmas read…

Loved the instant attraction they both felt, the angst they both had due to not being able to act on the attraction.

I loved how open and accepting Gianna was and how trusting Dominic was.

Such a perfect couple and really enjoyed their romance

This book is SO fun to read!! Zoe writes a entertaining story about Gianna and Mr. Koch. She's a human, working as a designer hired to help Mr. Koch. He has some... special abilities... that make working together... hard....

There are some great laughs at Mr. Koch's expense with Gianna being sassy, which is honestly my favorite part. I'm 100% going to be reading this again. It's a short, lovely read and I highly recommend it.

Wonderful 🔥🔥🔥

This book was deliciously spicy, though I wished there were more interactions with their kinky interests, especially with: what the heck is she exactly planning with those horns?
This is pretty much a fated mates that have known each other for almost a year (started in January, now it's December, in the story, so just a month off) and they have been pining after each other all this time. It's told as if there's an age gap, but not exactly, since it sounds like Krampus live at least 20 years longer than humans. So, there is an age gap, but only in the sense that she's dating a mythological being. However, she still sees it as a gal and is perfectly fine with that. I get it. When I was a teenager and more mature than others my age, I took sought out older men that I thought would meet my own maturity, but no matter how old you are, sometimes maturity never quite comes.
The way these characters act, they almost seem the same age, as in, maturity level, which in their case, is mutual obsession with each other. And aside from his appearance, the MMC actually acts more like Santa Clause than a Krampus, other than knowing the FMC's every kinky desire (yes there is a vengeful side, but it's very tame. This is a cozy romance after all. Albeit a spicy one.) He likes to make things and enjoys decorating for Christmas.
I really loved these two and how they just clicked, and I especially love sort of the ode to us monster lovers out here: The monster will expect us to scream and run, but we all know what we're gonna do with him, right? 😉
So really, the entire 11 months these two have known each other (actually it's seems to be honestly only like a week from the new year so, it's darn near a full year.) they could have gotten together. She only cares about her boss's no employee/client romance rules, but states that she is planning on looking for a new job right after she gets with the MMC. And the MMC states that he was only not going after her because he thought she'd be scared of his true nature. And that couldn't be farther from the truth 😏. They have a couple spicy interactions which includes: Mild bondage, foreplay, oral from both main characters, brief "back door" play on the FMC with DP included, and a very basic very mild size difference smexy scene. I don't mean the scene was basic, I mean the size difference wasn't really a size difference. He was met with only mild resistance, and went in fairly quickly, plus, started moving immediately.
It's ok, most authors write like this and I'm just thankful that the author at least added the mild feature. (Cuz come on people, they are big beefy monsters and should have a size that equals that.) Not that we don't love a good monster's personality, but the extra appendages and size differences is what we (or at least I) live for 😁.

P.s. Yes she gets pregnant, but much later in the future. When they are "interacting", she's on birth control, so it's not really breeding, except for behind the scenes.

I liked how unproblematic their romance was ;)
Gianna was a graphic designer, lusting for a whole year after an important client. He was twenty years her senior, hot as all hell and forbidden for the length of their contract by the rules of Gianna's boss. The contract ended before the company Christmas party, so she planned on seducing the gorgeous Mr Koch.
Dominic was a Krampus with a huge crush. After seeing Gianna at the first meeting talking through a branding project in a marketing company he did everything to see her as often as he could. He added more things to the project and insisted on meeting in person to talk any detail through. He was afraid that she would be afraid of him if she knew what he was, but on the other hand he wanted her to know the true him and to choose him anyway.
It was good to see a romance that didn't have any real conflict. The story was very cozy, even with the incident at the Christmas party, because the hero was there to stop anything truly bad happening to the heroine. I liked how they wanted each other for so long that it didn't even feel like insta-love anymore ;)
I loved that the big, bad Krampus was a good guy who cherished the holiday season. Oh and the Christmas lunch was precious!

4.5 stars. Gianna, the female human lead, has had a crush on Dominic, the male Krampus lead, since he hired her marketing firm. But there’s a very definite “no client fraternisation” clause in her workplace, so she’s been counting time until Dominic was no longer tied to her employer. Dominic feels more than drawn to Gianna. He’s been enjoying her imagination and plans to help her with every fantasy she’s had of him.

When Gianna is accosted by her boss’ son at the work Christmas party, Dominic intervenes. It’s not the start either of them planned but, now they’ve got time together, maybe they can make this an ongoing relationship…

This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, colleagues to more, Christmas, Krampus/human romance. I enjoyed Gianna’s initiative and her openness to experiencing new things with Dominic. I enjoyed Dominic’s certainty of what he wanted with Gianna and his willingness to be patient. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes the characters enjoyed, and the way they contributed to the relationship development.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

If you want a very mild Krampus, this book is for you.

Gianna and Dominic are working closely together for the past few months. With the deal ending, they decided to work on their attraction and they spent Christmas together.

Right off the bat, we were dropped in the middle of their story, so I didn't really connect with the main characters or their attraction to each other. It was fun, great Christmas vibes and enjoyable read, but it lacked something compared to the others in the series.

During a spicy scene, I got the ick and I was so thrown off guard with it because I did not expect THAT to happen, which solidifies my rating for this book.

My least favorite in the series, but still gonna look forward to reading more from this world.

Starstruck with the Krampus by Zoe Ashwood is a standalone monster romance within the Clearwater Monsters world. Was I giddy reading this? Absolutely! Gianna is our sweet, talented FMC. She is inexplicably drawn to her client, Dominic. Dominic is a krampus, and he is a consent king! My favorite thing about Zoe Ashwood’s books is that the consent is clear. I know not everyone is into that, but I am. Anyway, Dominic is equally (more actually) obsessed with Gianna. One snowy Christmas Eve the stars align for these two naughty folks!
Once again, Zoe quickly creates deep, relatable characters, a believable, yet fantastic world, and a thoroughly fleshed out plot that is exciting and engaging. I am enjoying the entire Clearwater Monsters series, so I recommend reading all three, but they are all standalone.

"There's no one else. And if I have it my way, there won't be anyone else, ever."

4 stars

This was a cozy and sexy monster romance that was a perfect palette cleanser. Both Dominic and Gianna have been secretly lusting after each other for a whole year, but workplace rules have kept them (mostly) professional. At the Christmas work party, the constraints that have kept them leashed all year finally unravel, leaving Gianna free to go after her man. Their romance was filled with sexy smut and loving acceptance, and they were so cute together🖤

Tropes: fated mates, workplace romance, obsessed cinnamon roll hero, lust-at-first-sight, monster romance, Christmas novella, smutty smut🔥

I was lucky enough to receive Starstruck with the Krampus by Zoe Ashwood as an ARC!

Oh my word!! It's a short but oh so sweet story! And it has it's 🔥 scenes too! They certainly deliver!

Gianna, is a brand designer and Dominic is her client, he's supernatural but she's not sure exactly what he is. She's determined to find out though! And when she does, he just hopes she'll keep him.

I now want a Krampus. Not a sentence I thought I'd say! 😂 Dominic is just adorable in this story, I want more of him. Gianna didn't hold herself back, she was so easy to like.
I loved how we got to hear from both characters, how they both learnt to communicate quickly. I hope we get to see more of each of them in future books from Zoe Ashwood!

Gianna (h) has spent the past year trying, and failing, not to fall for Dominic (H)—her company’s most important client. He’s powerful, wealthy, and completely uninterested… or so she thinks. What she doesn’t know? Dominic isn’t human. He’s a Krampus, a supernatural creature who thrives on sin, and for twelve months, her thoughts have been driving him wild. On Christmas Eve, when Dominic steps in to protect Gianna, the careful distance he’s kept shatters. She finally learns what he really is, and instead of running, she lets herself want him back. One night together turns into something much more permanent when Dominic instinctively marks her as his mate—and Gianna unknowingly seals their bond by biting him right back. Now, she’s his. And once a Krampus claims his mate, he never lets go.

Starstruck with the Krampus by Zoe Ashwood
Clearwater Monsters #3

This was a great read, It was a great onyx storm books hangover cure that’s for sure!

This is the third book in Zoe’s Clearwater Monsters series and this book involves Krampus, it’s a Christmas/winter book and with a work place romance type twist.

The sexual tension Gianna and Dominic must have gone through before that final got the chance to be together must have been horrible, because they start hard and fast and I loved it.

This is a great short read whilst it could be read at Christmas time it definitely does not need to!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of Starstruck with the Krampus and for that I am very grateful.

This was a really sweet and fun festive read which had me snigerring along wih it. It was a little along the instalove lines but then again when one of the couple is able to experience the other's thoughts and so already knows how they feel about them the relationship is bound to go a bit quicker than the norm.
Gianna has liked one of her clients, Mr Koch, a little more than is accepted under company rules and she is just counting down the days now until he is no longer a client. Little does she know that he feels the same way about her. The banter was fast-paced and the characters were likeable. There was fun, steam and fairy lights. Just what you need in a festive read.

Naughty Christmas Office Romance

Gleeful Goblin Review: I adore a good office romance and I've got a soft spot for Krampus as a love interest even though I'm not a huge fan of all things Christmas-ish. But omg, this particular Krampus Dominic, has stolen my heart. Like he says to Gianna, he's no angel but that doesn't mean he's a Bad Guy either. He has a strong sense of honor and is not going to let men be garbage around Gianna, which I appreciate SO MUCH. These two have absolutely off the walls chemistry and it is Sizzle City from very early on in this story. This is a red hot romance full of green flags. 5/5 Stars

ARC review!

This is a sweet and spicy Christmas novella! I love basically anything Zoe writes, but this one just didn't hit for me like the other Clearwater Monsters books have. I wish that the burn had been just a little slower between the two leads and that we had more time to see their relationship develop, or at least some consequences for jumping so quickly. I also wish there had been more attention paid to the Krampus lore.
That said, it was an enjoyable romp, and if you're looking for something cozy, low-stakes, and low-angst, then pick this one up for sure.

4.3/5

It’s a smutty sexy cozy little book. Very low angst. Very little plot. Lots of sex.

Monster (krampus with glamour). Age gap (40s and early 20s). Almost fated mates. Scenting. Bond. Mating. Claiming mark/bite. Dub con (the sex is consensual but he bites her without knowing what it means). He saves her from a predatory man. Obsessive/protective. Light stalking. No virgins. Big cock. Cock warming. Different cock (conical, has piercings). Butt plug. Light breeding. Epilogue 3 years later with a daughter (mostly human with horns) and 4 months pregnant.no OWD. No cheating. No breakup.

Long Time Lust

Gianna’s advertising company has worked on Mr. Koch’s bran all year, and she’s been desperately attracted to him this whole time. But company rules say no dating the clients. Now, it’s Christmas, the contract is over, Will Gianna get her Christmas wish with Dominic Koch? Especially with who Dominic is and how he feels in return? The lust these two have for each other simply oozes off the pages, oh so heady and delicious. I loved their story and how they where a perfect fit. A wonderful holiday read.

Read if you like: novella, workplace romance, forbidden crush, age gap, fast burn, krampus x human

Gianna has had a crush on Dominic the entire time they’ve worked together. Little did she know that he could read her mind, now that they’re finally not working together they are free to make a move on each other.

This was short, spicy, sweet and a fast burn. Not as good as Stranded with the Kraken but it would be a good read if you’re in a slump or need a novella to break up long reads

This was such a fun read, full of sass and humour and spice. Mr. Koch and Gianna were a hoot together, her with so many dirty thoughts, and him with some mind reading skills that spike his temperature up when he sees what she wants to do to and with him. Lol! This is a Krampus like no other and I found the entire book highly entertaining and worthy of a prime spot on my re-read shelf. So good and I definitely recommend :D
