My marriage to Dr. Thad LaRue is perfect. Idyllic. So why do I feel like he’s hiding something…again?
Two years ago, there was another woman. Younger. Prettier. When she fell to her death on the cliffs, it was ruled a suicide. But I’ve always wondered…
Now, there’s a new woman—our beautiful, divorced neighbor. She says her new boyfriend calls her “his lucky day.” The exact words Thad once said to me.
It’s just a coincidence. I’m just paranoid. Or crazy. The result of the oxy and wine that numbs the pain from my accident. From life. Right?
To find out, I invite her to our annual holiday party. The next morning, she’s found stabbed to death.
Two women. Two affairs. Two deaths. Every woman Thad touches ends up dead. Except me. Or is it because of me?

4.5 ⭐️ this book was SO fun!! I love going into a thriller blind, not having any ideas what it’s about & this one was soo binge-able! Lies, betrayal, cheating, first person POV plus an insufferable main male character - which I love 😂 this book was a crazy, wild, ride and I would read it again! So good!
Great writing, very fast paced and kept me engaged the whole time! My only critique is that the main character didn’t do what I’d do😂😂 ran right back into danger!!
I'll preface this by saying, I am a huge fan of Mary Stone's crime thriller series. With that being said, I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I've enjoyed her standalone psychological thrillers.
Her Perfect Lie really drew me in from the beginning. The authors allude to a lot of events in the past that makes you want to read the whole book in one sitting. The twists were exciting and unpredictable. I would almost compare this book to a John Marrs type of writing, which is a huge compliment. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for something fast-paced and mesmerizing. Can't wait for her next psychological thriller.
Lots of manipulation going on. I was intrigued from the beginning. Couldn’t put the book down. A book you should not miss. I never saw the twists coming. OMG WAIT FOR THE ENDING.
HER PERFECT LIE is a psychological thriller by Mary Stone and Caroline Clark. This story is a deviation from Ms Stone's normal law enforcement thrillers, rather this one is centered around a family and their perfect life slowly falling apart, starting with betrayal. For me it felt like a slow start, maybe because I'm used to Ms Stone starting with a BANG. Believe me, this suspenseful psychological thriller will turn into a page turner with lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing what's what - right to the very last page.
Cooper and her husband have successful careers and two beautiful children. It's the perfect life. That is until her husband betrays her love and trust. Then she begins to suspect another betrayal, but this one ends in murder. Is her husband a killer or not? Cooper starts having flashbacks to the first betrayal and now this murder, but why can’t she remember either night? Is it the Oxy and wine she takes everyday? Her perfect life is falling apart - and so is she.
This book definitely will not disappoint. What an ending! I can hardly believe it. Mary Stone and Caroline Clark, Thank You, for a great read.
I received a free copy of this book from the author, and the above is my voluntary and honest review.
A Perfect Lie? Or was it? Cooper and Thad LaRue were a power couple, Thad a Doctor in a practice, Cooper a Marketing and Business Brand Designer. They were both successful in their own way. They have two children Elias and Grace. Thads parents Dot and Howard LaRue had money and felt Thad could have met and married someone better than a middle class girl from college. Cooper lost her Mom in an accident when she was ten, her Dad, Kerry Moynihan was a big support for Cooper and always there for her.
So, who has the perfect lie? Cooper, Dot, Cooper's friend Beth, Grace? Do you know who the liar is? Or is it his perfect lie? Thad is very good at lying, covering up the things he is doing.
I think you will love this book, I did, I could not put it down and read through the night. There is so much to the book and every bit of it is unputdownable!
Read this book with my book club. It felt very repetitive, but maybe that was on purpose since the main character has some drug/alcohol issues that is constantly making her second guess herself and her thoughts. I somewhat figured out the twist, but was not completely correct. The ending was a chef’s kiss and something I really knew was coming once things came together. None of the characters were likable. Completely hated the husband, why a douche, but I’m sure that’s what the author wanted us to feel about him. The main character was just a pain in the ass lol. She’s that friend you wanna shake “wake up dumbass!” I gave it three stars, it was just ok.
Absolutely loved this novel. It grabs you from the beginning and never lets go. The La Rues have had their struggles with Thad cheating. When the possibility of him having stepped out of the marriage for a 2nd time and the "other woman" ends up dead, Like the first one, questions begin to fly and secrets start to come out. Will everyone survive? Who killed these two women? Will Cooper forgive her husband again or finally leave the cheat? Stay tunned and find out. You will completely enjoy this book!
Cooper is living what appears to be a living a perfect life, she has 2 beautiful kids, an adorable husband and a job she loves. But does she? A past fling by her husband she thinks is behind them, they have gone thru counseling and are sure they can be a happy couple again. Her husband is a local doctor who is frequently late coming home, but she has nothing to worry about, or does she…. A complicated number of lies ealong with bad in-laws add to her confusion. Lots of lies, wine, pills and controlling in laws drive her to some radical movs. Great read !
It’s the Christmas season and everything should be idyllic on the island but, is it? Cooper believes her husband is cheating on her again. When the woman in question is found stabbed to death in the woods behind their house she has to come to the realization that Thad is not only a cheater but a murderer. However, everything is murky. Why can’t she remember that night? Is it the oxy & wine combined or is it something else?
Who really did what?! This was hard to put down once you got into the story. Talk about a cliffhanger! You really don't know who did what until you are 3/4 of the way through the book. It's a great story with lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. The characters seem pretty real. The handsome and rich doctor and the wife with her own career. But something is terribly wrong here. This idyllic lifestyle is all a sham. And the last chapter is worth the wait. Great read.
Thad and Cooper seem to have the perfect life, but what is really perfect? He is a liar and cheater; she is hooked on pain killers and wine. Then to top all of this a murder is committed and Thad is a suspect. This causes Cooper to start going over the time when Thad cheated two years ago. This was a real twisty story and the ending, well just let me tell you that it messed with me so much I had to go back and reread it! Great story!!
This suspenseful psychological thriller has you hooked from the beginning to the end. A page turner with lots of twists that keeps you guessing. This book will not disappoint. What an ending! Thank you, Mary Stone and Caroline Clark, for such a great read. I am an ARC member, and this is my honest review.
This book kept me involved trying to figure out if their was a killer or who was responsible. There were so any suspects and possibilities. I kept changing my mind, just when I thought I had it figured out something happened to change my mind. I did not expect the ending. Outstanding.
Can't say it's a bad book / thriller but it's not a great one either. The writing style is good, but the plot has been seen so many times before so I don't think it brings anything new to the "thriller table".
And I'm sorry but the main character was just too much, too annoying and it was hard to find the necessary sympathy for her.
The ending just smacked me in the face. This whole book has been one drama after another. These writers are really sneaky. The characters are well described and mesh together well. As usually Mary Stone has kick butt books and along with Caroline Clark it is truly a psychological thriller.
If you are willing and patient enough to make it to the ending, you will enjoy this story. The redundancy of the main character's thoughts were tedious. There were many pages I had to skim through because the authors grinded on and on about the main character's issues. My patience was well rewarded with the surprisingly plot twist at the end.
Her Perfect Lie hooked me right away and kept me turning pages. I loved the twists and honestly didn’t see the ending coming at all—it was one of those “wait, what?!” moments. The suspense is strong, with a mix of grief, addiction, and secrets. I’d definitely recommend if you like stories full of twist and turns.
Cooper is married to Thad.Thad is a series cheater. Cooper is the mother of two young kids and is fed up with the cheating husband. She is coping with it by Oxy and wine. A twisted tale of love, hate and heartbreak. Fast paced, great character development, an edge of your seat read. The twists keep coming to the last page! A great cringy read!
This was just ok for me. I really do not like thrillers where the MC is an addict. I think it’s such a cop out. The MC is either unreliable bc of the addiction or the reason for the situation is the addiction. Anyways, it was a decent book, and I loved getting Christmas vibes wo reading a romance book. It moved a little slowly and parts were kind of predictable.
What a rush! Cooper & Thad are working through their marriage, is it perfect.? Not by any means but Cooper thinks they are trying. So much history to overcome. This book was hard to put down. Mystery, romance, murder, an ending that will be a shock. Don’t miss this one!
The writing by Mary Stone and Caroline Clark conveys all of Cooper’s feelings brilliantly! …Edge of seat suspense! …Twists and turns keep the reader guessing! …Impossible to put down! …and the ending, did not see that coming!
Her Perfect Lie: A Psychological Thriller By: Mary Stone and Caroline Clark. Great story I felt sorry for Cooper. Thad was a cheater and compulsive liar. He was accused of murder. It was pretty intense until No More Her Perfect Lie. Impressive!!!
This story was awesome about Cooper and Thad and what strange going in their lives and who was responsible for women being killed and a ending I didn’t see coming. This story had lots of suspense and action. Thank you for this great story.
I can't say enough good things about this book!! I enjoyed getting to know each unforgettable character. The plot has so many twists that it is constantly changing. Just when you think, you see what's going to happen, it turns on a dime.
