Don't judge a book by it's cover

This is a very short story to introduce Sam Wick. His mission is to rescue a young girl from being sold at auction. He has disguised himself as an old man to throw off his competitors. Winner takes all, losers die. Interesting character and story line.

All life is precious. A kidnapped girl heavily drugged being sold off to the highest bidder. Well written and action packed. I don't want to give too much away in this review. But I do recommend this book.

Wicked Storm by Chase Austin is a great story about a new aproch to saving girls from trafficking. I am a little confused about the reading order in this series because the numbering is in two versions but most of them can actually be read out of order.

A quick read. Hurray for the older man! What a surprise he turns out to be. Good story. Just needs to be longer, more detailed. 5/29/21. This book has been expanded into a full length novel. Sam and his cohort, Eddie do an amazing “Rambo” style rescue from a sex traffic ring. The teens in the book do stupid teen stuff that lands them in trouble. Thank the stars that there are special ops individuals to the rescue. Will Sam and Eddie escape from the foreign country unscathed? We will have to read the next book in the series to find out.

Wicked Storm by Chase Austin was a quick read that will leave you wanting more. Sam Wick is a Bruce Lee type of hero. This book has it all from slave trade, martial arts, cage fighting to the death and a woman to be rescued!

I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the story unfolded. I received this book as an advance copy and I always review every book that I read. I recommend this action packed story.

Chase is a very good writer and you will enjoy this book. Sam Wick is great and the black ops team is superb.
Sam Wick is one super badass. This book is about trafficking young women and the action is plentiful. No Asset is better than Sam Wick.

Full disclosure, I was provided a copy of this book by the author, however, have voluntarily chosen to write a review. All opinions are my own

A brutal introduction to a new thriller series

Wicked Storm is the first in a new series of thrillers by author Chase Austin. The story is fast paced and centers around a cage match to the death as part of a human trafficking operation. In the midst of this seedy, savage setting an old man and his young companion enter the fray and join the death match for their human prize. His adversaries scoff and discount their opponent, but Sam Wick is not who he seems to be.

Wicked Storm could be considered a short story as it checks in at a little under 50 pages, but Austin does a fantastic job sucking the reader right into the action. While initially there does not appear to be a back story to Wicked Storm, the brilliant twist is that the story itself is the back story and serves as a clever introduction to the main character in the series. Undercover black ops agent and master of disguise, Sam Wick is the guy that the government calls when nobody else can do the job.

If you’re not squeamish and are looking for something new to read, I would recommend Wicked Storm as a quick and interesting title. Austin has piqued my curiosity regarding Sam Wick and I am looking forward to the upcoming books in the series. I am hoping that after this initial offering, the upcoming books are a bit longer and more detailed, but I am sure I will enjoy them either way.

Wicked Storm - This short story is my first read by this author and I did and did not like it. I like the character Samuel, but I did not like the writing style. Maybe with a few years writing under his belt, Mr. Austin may develop into a good writer. This story did show originality but came across as pretentious, which the author has since corrected so the pretentious vocabulary is reduced. There is an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the story is about before I read it.

Although used correctly, some wording was not everyday usage and ending up being distracting stopping the flow of the story. There are corrections needed for basic grammar and proper nouns. The storyline is rather good, but the reader will assume a disguise. The action was described OK. At the end, Marco did not fit his character but there was a reason, I guess, for the author to take that route. The author has made changes to this story and what I mentioned before has been corrected and rewritten; readers will find this edited version better than the first one released as an ARC.

This is an interesting, basic introduction/glimpse into a new action character and a quick read for a coffee break. I found this book on Booksprout on February, 2019. 3.5 stars originally but now 4 stars.

My first interaction with Chase Austin shows his dedication to his writing. After reading the short story into The Sam Wick Series Wicked Storm I can see his dedication reflecting in his writing. What do you look for in a short story? What do you look for in a series? An exciting plot right away. A cliff hanger, room to build and grow with these characters to join the story. Chase Austin hit it out of the park with this one! As soon as you begin reading you feel right there and as you read the world grows around you. There is mystery; where does this leads so you dig for more. Then the action starts and man it's perfect. There is so much action and it is so easy to read. It isnt chaotic and hard to follow. You know play by play, high speed, slow-mo then it's over as quick as it began. You learn this is Sam Wick's style and as they pull away you want to follow and see does he gain more scars, does he put down more back guys, what's the next costume? If you want a high pace thriller with action, purpose, and more to check it out!

ONE EXPLOSIVE ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Man, talk about riding on a razors edge. A whirlwind of unexpected circumstances and mishaps that keep you flipping page after page catapulting all of your emotions into play.  One sensational storyline and thrilling plot propel this bad boy bursting to life beautifully. The characters are authentic, relatable and realistic with personalities and depth that keep you captivated from start to finish. Sparks fly as danger and suspense ensues in epic proportions. Non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, hard hitting adventure that brings all the pieces together for one wild experience. The scenes are so detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you're right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Chase, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Marco is some sort of bizarre, elite human trafficker.

In order to win the merchandise, in this case an exquisite young female virgin, the bidders or their fighters must fight to the death.

Anyone with a fighter in the ring has $5 million in escrow, refunded at the conclusion of the event or the conclusion of a sale.

A sheikh and a mafioso type are the bidders on the final young woman up for bid - at $1 million.

A third man steps into the ring. He agrees to fight both other fighter - but takes the girl and the money if he wins.

A swift end to this fight from experienced fighters / tacticians.

wicked mad skills, in an unexpected package.

wild action in a compact book.

If every book in the series keeps up the pace that this intro to the series has, I'm going to need oxygen and snacks permanently to hand when reading. What a start to a series! I have to say that I was a little unsure what to expect with this book with it being a short book that dealt with such a vile but horribly real topic as human trafficking. I approached it with trepidation as I thought it was going to be in your face crudeness and trigger sensitive. Let me tell you, it has been written so that, yes, we are faced with a human trafficking auction, but it isn't out for shock value. The story of Sam and Eddie is more central than the scene itself.
Once the scene has been set, the story rattles along at a blinding pace with no chance to draw breath until the last word is read, hence my need for oxygen if the rest of the series is like this one. The snacks are needed because you'll forget about teatime when reading and won't want to wander away to cook something .
Cracking book and a very promising start to a series.

This is a very exciting story about a black ops assassin who is sent in to a combination auction and cage fight to the death, to rescue a young girl.
It is very difficult to get a handle on a new character in a short story like this, but Sam Wick seems like an interesting man.
The story is well written and certainly exciting, although perhaps the way the violence was portrayed was rather matter-of fact which reduced the impact somewhat. There was also a bit of an inconsistency in the plot which stopped this being a 5 star read.
I received an advance copy of this book but I have voluntarily written this review.

There are days I like a complex thriller that require a degree of reflection and there are days I like a straightforward hero like Sam Wick. It's simple, when all hell breaks loose, send in Sam Wick!!! He is the type of character we all imagine as ourselves, saving the beautiful woman and the world.

I read this short story almost as fast as one of Wick's strikes. It kept me going straight through to the end. My only complaint is due to my own ignorance. I didn't know it was in short story format and was disappointed when I couldn't read what happened next. I plan on continuing to read the series as it is a good escape from life's doldrums. Good job, Chase Austin.

A thoroughly thrilling adventure story that puts you as an invisible person in the room recording the fast action and sudden jerks of reality as the scenarios explode with noise and silence as the characters reposition to favorable locations to remain undetected while the other side tries to hide until someone makes a mistake and adds another body to the wreckage before our heroes can extract the reason to be there and leaves you feeling you way out of the book page, dodging electrons in your reader, or following the bright light to escape the movie screen as you shudder at the though of how long to the next book in the series. Now breathe and get a good drink with someone you can trust.

I’m so happy to be able to leave a review for this story. I assumed in the first few pages that this was another gruesome story about the abduction of a teenage girl and how she would be sold on the black market. However, I soon learned this story was not what I was expecting. It’s the story of how this same teenage girl is saved by an awesome protective agent. He walks in and shows everyone how it’s done. Get out of the way for Sam or you probably won’t wake up to find out how it ends. Awesome Reading!!

Task Force-77 (TF-77) is a black ops team of NSA and the US Military. This is the team, the U.S. government calls when it needs to get people out of the most dangerous places on earth.

Sam Wick.Task Force 77's best. Master Extractor. Perfect Assassin. Where the government cannot and will not go, he will.

Really enjoyed this story and looking forward to seeing more from this author. Sam Wick, disguised as an old man, has to fight two men in a cage to save a young girl who is being sold off to the highest bidder. A great introduction to a series.

Never judge a person by how they look! Accomplished Author Chase Austin can weave a story with impact and does so in Wicked Storm. I never could have guessed and neither did the “audience and bidders guess” what was to come. NO spoilers. A very worthy and entertaining read, with a stupendous ending but sandwiched all the way through with intrigue and fast page turning. I highly recommend Wicked Storm as a very worthy read! Nothing was as it seemed, until it wasn’t. ENJOY!!

This was a taut succinct short story, very short. This was an action filled tale, with a well scripted fight which was the whole storyline, but not a lot of character development. I will have to read more in this series to see how it develops, I like a little more set-up, and explanation than this introduction could provide, but that was hinted at in the conclusion.

This book left me almost as startled as the two fighters who entered the cage with black ops man Sam Wick disguised as an old duffer. MMA fighting is one thing but a death match with no rules and no ref is quite another matter. Gladiatorial combat should have ended with the fall of Rome but illegal cock fights, dog fights and bull rings still exist. Cage matches are one thing but death matches....

This combat is over so fast the losers barely have time to bleed. Somehow I’d think the audience felt cheated. Nine dead bodies are worthy of a Shakespearean Tragedy.

For a short story it moved fast and was very entertaining. A good way to introduce the main character. The main character is not what you expected him to as he was described in the book. The bad guys were for a rude awakening and did not expect what that got. Enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to read more by Chase. I rec’d this book free from the author and in return was asked to leave a honest review.

Not sure how to describe this book: a short novella or a long short story. Either way, it starts out with a bang and just keeps growing. Very intense and violent, but I have to admit, not overly graphic. I will definitely be checking out the next book in the series.
