Living life devoid of any powers of her own is an awkward conversation starter. Good thing she’s gotten used to keeping this part of her life a secret.
Saoirse has grown up a descendant of a magical race of elves, but without any magic of her own. She knows her sole purpose is to protect her cousin as he fulfills his prophesied destiny.
And life isn’t all bad; her family loves her and her best friend is like the sister she never had. So, what more could she really ask for?
When a trip to Ireland leads Saoirse into a whole new realm of possibilities, she comes face-to-face with the fact that fate has other plans for her.
One hundred years in a land that perpetually rains, while waiting for a chance at redemption is not what he intended for his life.
Delsaran has unfortunately become acquainted with hiding in the shadows. After the tragic death of his family, he fled to Earth for refuge. Once a noble prince in the magical world of Axolyn, he is now an elf masquerading as a human.
When visitors come calling, Delsaran begins to see the first rays of fate smiling on him and his plans at redemption.
But when mishap after mishap throw Saoirse and Delsaran into chaos, they must cling to each other and the future they want but one that seems so uncertain. Will they be able to trust that fate will see them through?
Celestial Fates is a closed-door romantasy with only minty kisses. It is the first in the Fatebound Series.
Oh my goodness!! This book, this world! My mind is still reeling from that cliffhanger! If you love modern fantasy, witty banter, high stakes magic, strong friendships, and swoon worthy romance, this book is for you. First off Saoirse, I love her so much. I feel like she is such a realistic and relatable character. I love her reactions to the magical world she finds herself in. And then Del 🔥🔥🔥 I mean who doesn’t love a good touch her and 💀 leading man?? And all of the side characters! I just want to crawl inside this book and become part of this story. Now please tell me I don’t have to wait long for book 2!!!
“If I could fall to my knees before you and declare how much…how much I truly and fully love you, I would. You are who my soul was knit together for.”
I’m not usually a Romantasy reader, but this book has made me a diehard fan. Celestial Fates has put me in a book coma repeatedly, laugh out loud on a crowded flight, and heckle the author for the next book. This isn’t one you’ll want to put down. You’ll see yourself in Saoirse, hope for a love like Del, and dream of a world like Axolyn. Abandon your TBRs for this book. Use your Amazon gift cards from your Valentine to buy this book or just go and download it ASAP from KU! You won’t regret it.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 1 in The Fatebound Series and can't be read as a standalone. Celestial Fates is told through Saoirse and Delsaran's pov and is a romantasy debut that will keep you entertained.
CW: panic attack, brief mention of abortion Spice: steamy kisses
From the start of the story, I was hooked to keep reading more about Saoirse and Delsaran's journey. Because of the fact that she grew up without magic, Saoirse felt unfulfilled so I loved seeing her come into her own. Meeting Delsaran was a part of that. He carried great responsibility and I liked how crossing paths with Saoirse made him more determined to succeed. Though their romance had an instalove feel to it, it made sense given the situation they found themselves them and the pacing of the story. I liked that the story was fast paced yet things didn't feel rushed. Aside from the romance and pacing, I really enjoyed the humor, friendships, and some of the secondary characters - who I hope to see more. Overall, this was a decent debut and start to the series and I can't wait to read more.
I really enjoyed this book and the world that is created. They start out in present day America, then go to Ireland where there’s a portal to the Fairie realm. This book has it all including Fae, elves, werewolves, dragons, wyvern, vampires, wraiths.
This was a fun and quick read. The world building isn’t extreme, making it an easy book to consume.
Sometimes I did question why the FMC would say or act a certain way, and I forgot she was supposed to be 24. She just seems younger.
But I loved the MMC, Del! His character was believable and everything he did and said made sense to me because I felt like I knew him.
The cliffhanger!! I’m going to have to read book 2 to know what happens! This book sets up a lot of stuff for a big surprise at the end.
I LOVE this book! I read almost all YA contemporary romances, and this is my first romantasy. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the author blew me out of the water. Wow! So many things going on but it was easy to follow, and her characters - oh, the characters!
I think my favorite is Romulus, and I can't wait for more about him. And the romance between Saoirse and Delsaran is divine. Love the "hands off my girl" trope? You will freaking LOVE Del.
And Alyc is a charmer and goofy and I think he's amazing. Can't wait for book two!
I was really hoping to love this because I love the author...but I couldn't get past the editing.
I know that it was edited because the acknowledgements list an editor and a proofreader, but there are so many errors that my brain had to stop. How did the editors not catch that sometimes the Obsidian elves' counterpart was called Lucient and sometimes Lucent?
If S.L. Morales writes another book, I'll try again! But for now, at least, I have to set this one aside.
Literally so good!! I’m not even a romance fan regularly, but Del had me swooning. What a dreamboat. Saoirse is a fantastic FMC, totally relatable and fun! Alyc, even though he interrupted a kiss, was a definite favorite. Can’t wait for the next book!!
I loved this book! It was so magical and I felt a deep connection to many of the characters. This book ended in a cliffhanger so I’m excited to see what happens next!
Full of elves, dragons, and fae, this stunning debut was so much fun to read! Saoirse is the only one in her family who wasn't born with magic, but they accept her anyway. I love the family dynamics. However, on a quest to help her cousin fulfill his purpose, she's in for some surprises of her own. My favorite part was the banter (Oh, the banter!) and the super fun, witty, smooth conversation. I ate up the swoony fated-mates love story. Henry Cavill is mentioned by name, though you'll probably be surprised how. One of my favorite characters was Harper, Saoirse's best friend, who is all goodness, plus a sweet and sensitive dog friend. There was so much adventure and a plot-twist near the end that made my mouth drop open!
What a great debut novel! Morales is certainly someone to keep an eye on as I get the feeling she'll just get better and better. And we can't stop now, because that cliffhanger ending? I am impatiently waiting for book two!
This is a contemporary, portal fantasy, (though much of it is set in the modern world, rather than through the portal) featuring elves, shifters, fated mates, magic and destiny. Saoirse and her cousin Carter travel to Ireland to fulfill Carter's magical destiny, only to find that things are not what they were told at all. They meet more than they expected, including a man straight from Saoirse's dreams.
I loved the combination of Del's flirty teasing and his over-protective nature. He felt like such a real person, but still with a little bit of cultural differences (because he's an elf after all). And Saoirse was so relatable, open and kind-hearted. They were both lovely characters' heads to be in!
I've chatted a bit with Shelby online, and have been following her for a while, and I feel like her personality and values shine through in this book so much. And I really love that. This is so clearly Shelby's book and she has poured her heart and soul into it.
There were a few times I felt a bit lost with the worldbuilding or questioned a character's motivations, but overall I enjoyed the story and can't wait for the next book. Though we ended on a cliffhanger, I love that we got a little taste of hope at the end.
