I loved this issue, better than the first two. The opening inner monologue is fantastic, really memorable I felt. Up there with some of the best Benjamin Percy inner monologues like the one from Ghost Rider about the asphalt on the highways of the U.S. being haunted with the souls of those who’ve been splattered all over it. I also felt like it was a really satisfying continuance of this “escape from Doom arc, and I’m glad the escaping isn’t over yet and we’ll see more of Ross’ New Thunderbolts on the run for at least one more issue. I have no idea how this series is doing sales-wise. I hope Captain America 4 generated enough new interest in Red Hulk to keep this series afloat for a while, but any movie watcher who doesn’t already read the comics and picked this series up because they liked Red Hulk in the movie would surely be at least a little confused by what’s going on here. Oh well, they have google, they can figure it out. Ben Percy 4Ever!!
Doom having his own think tank of war ridden minds to help orchestrate how he can best take over the world without anyone knowing - to serve men mentality -and then execute them so that he's never found out - a war crime, mind you - was pure writing genius.
Anyway, Ross not knowing that that Doom had successfully taken over the planet and just assuming he was an abused POW was so sad. RIP this man who has only ever known war.
This is a very enjoyable series. It is simple but well told. The cast is fun and varied and the action is well laid out. I enjoy seeing each step of our group attempt their prison break.
