I always thought love at first sight was just a fairytale—until the moment our eyes met. In that instant, I was certain I had fallen in love. Little did I know that this connection would eventually shatter my heart and leave me with a pain I couldn't escape.
I had resigned myself to a fake, heartless relationship in which I was still alone with my daughter. I believed I would spend every day watching the man I loved move on while working side by side in the same office.
I was wrong. And for once, I'm glad I was.
Our lives are then turned upside down when we're kidnapped by a dangerous mob boss—one that my ex-boyfriend owed money to.
Now, we must fight to survive and find a way back to Emily, the one person who keeps us grounded.
Love reunited us, but now it threatens to tear everything apart.
Well, things turned fast with this story. But let this be a lesson: don’t judge a book by its cover. For dark romance fans, don’t be de-swayed by that cover; for others, please read the TW/CWs.
“On the Edge” may have started as a story of love at first sight, broken hearts, and second chances. But it suddenly made a hard left into the dark territory where people get taken away, and horrible things are done to them, specifically women.
I loved the double entendre of “On the Edge,” whether intentional or not. The steamy scenes with Landon and Kesley are good. But most importantly, I appreciated how Landon handled things after Kesley’s return and recovery. Many times, authors gloss over those things or oversimplify them, but Author A.N. Davis goes through the emotional ups and downs of trauma recovery.
A.N. Davis also introduces the supporting characters that will lead into Book 2: Chris and Stacey. I can already tell the next book will be an exciting one.
I was a beta reader for this book. I got to read the raw unfinished version of it. Even though this is not my typical go-to book, I was so drawn in and constantly ready for more. This book was so hard to set down it was too good. She got me with the cliffhanger and now of course I need book 2. What a thrilling ride this was!!
4.5/5 This book completely broke me open in the best way. It’s dark, emotional, and unapologetically raw, a story that dives deep into trauma, fear, love, and the painful process of learning to trust again. I really appreciated how the author opened the book with clear trigger warnings and a reminder that mental health matters. That small touch meant a lot and immediately showed care for her readers. Kelsey’s journey hit close to home. I could personally relate to some of what she was feeling that constant battle between self-blame and healing, between wanting to feel safe again and being terrified of letting someone in. Watching her slowly rebuild control and rediscover her worth was both heart-breaking and empowering. A.N. Davis captured the balance between darkness and healing so beautifully. Landon’s patience and care made the story feel safe, even when it hurt to read. It’s not just a dark romance, it’s a story about reclaiming power, trust, and love on your own terms. And that ending… I actually yelled “nooo!” and started flicking through the pages, convinced there had to be more. It was the perfect mix of shock and heartbreak, and now I need the next book immediately. This one will stick with me for a long time, haunting, healing, and human all at once.
Okay, so seriously, check your triggers. This one has them running rampant. this book has some seriously hard hitting issues in it. not to mention the fact that it does also tout the ability of really good therapy and how it can help in every situation, or after the fact. so he loses the girl because i' of miscommunication, then he gets girl back only for life and her ex to be royal, butt heads and things are going on with their best friends and all kinds of things.Go on. And the twist, at the end, are you freaking kidding me.
Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 audiobook narration ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 When I first saw the book, I was expecting a sweet second chance romance. This was so much more. The book swaps between genres several times, and you might want to check your trigger warnings before diving in. As several points I was like, wait a minute, what just happened here. The book contained plenty of spice and dark themes. The duet narration worked perfectly for the story, and the cliffhanger at the end left me craving for book two.
The entire time I was reading this I was thinking, forget the audiobook I want the movie adaptation ASAP. The story picks up immediately—making it extremely difficult to not devour in one sitting. As other reviews have said, the darkness in the book is PRESENT—so check your TW.
Im personally not rating this book for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is I didnt like this book and didnt want to drop this authors ratings.
One of my biggest issues with the story is it felt too long and too short at the same time. At first, it seems like its going to be a sweet second chance story. It quickly develops into the darker side, which I usually love. However, it felt thrown together with no true thought on how it would all work with Kelsey and Landon's relationship, Emily, and the other characters.
Landon and Kelsey are great characters. I can believe they belong together, but the story didnt allow their love and relationship to develop before dropping in some serious trauma and craziness. Only one date and 4 years between the past and present with no communication between them made their relationship feel forced. They were together because its what's supposed to happen.
Landon also did a complete character shift without warning. I don't want to give too many spoilers but how does a law abiding lawyer turn into all for torture character? Yes things happen but it wasn't even hinted in his character development. Add on pov changes with other characters, it unfortunately didnt work.
After things sort of get resolved, it moves too quickly imo. If you are going to traumatize a character so badly, then she needs to heal in a way equal to the trauma. Again, there was no build up to what happened with Kelsey and this other character and then Landon. Survivors all heal in different ways and different timelines but the way it was handled cheapened the healing if that makes sense.
I also had certain issues with the way Emily's parentage was handled. Again, no development, no time, no build up. Not only did Landon accept things quickly, Emily did too. Most kids with that big of a change would have some issues and some trepidation. If a man, even it being my child's father, accepted things that quickly with my daughter and had a room for her that he LIED about, I'd be seriously concerned. It genuinely made me uncomfortable. Kelsey seemed to be too frivolous with her daughter's safety.
While there were issues for me, I do want to mention how hot some of the spice scenes were! Even with the relationship issues and concerns I had, the spice scenes were perfect! Super hot and everything a 🔥🔥 scene should be. I may not be continuing this series with these characters but so looking forward to other books. Write all the spicy scenes please!
On The Edge by A.N. Davis is a wild, flawed, and utterly addicting ride, made all the more compelling by the brilliant duet narration of Andi Eloise and Fred Foxx. This is the kind of audiobook that hooks you from the very first chapter, weaving a captivating and emotional story around characters you can't help but care for. The intense chemistry, passion, and pain make for an experience that is truly hard to put down.
The story plunges listeners into the fractured world of Kelsey and Landon. Once united by a love-at-first-sight connection, they now find themselves shattered by heartbreak, forced to work side-by-side while Kelsey endures a fake, heartless relationship. Their lives, already fraught with unspoken feelings, are violently turned upside down when they are kidnapped by a dangerous mob boss. The stakes are terrifyingly high as they must fight not only for their own survival but to find their way back to Emily, the young daughter who grounds their world.
What elevates this gripping story to another level is the phenomenal voice acting that brings it to life. Andi Eloise is perfect as Kelsey, masterfully conveying every nuance of her character’s journey—from profound love and happiness to gut-wrenching angst, fear, and shame. Opposite her, Fred Foxx’s performance as Landon is simply divine. He effortlessly shifts between a commanding, strong lawyer tone and a deep, sultry alpha growl, later softening his voice with a beautiful tenderness for Kelsey and Emily. Together, Eloise and Foxx don’t just read the book; they embody the characters, making their reunion, struggles, and intense connection feel incredibly real.
While listeners should be mindful to check trigger warnings as some scenes are intense, and a few editing hiccups are present, the overall journey is well worth it. On The Edge is a powerful, gripping story of survival and second chances that will leave you breathless and, like me, eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Listened to the audiobook! The story was easy to follow and drew me in right away. It starts off like a sweet romance and takes a hard downhill right into the darkness where it stays for the rest of the book. Kelsey and Landon have a ONS and she ends up pregnant from it. Later on, she sees something in Landon’s office and stops talking to him. She decides to get into a fake relationship and this was a big mistake. He becomes abusive with her. He’s cheating on her and gambling. He racked up a huge debt and now owes a mob boss TONS of money. Landon still holds feelings for her and saves her from the hospital. She moves in with him and they restart their relationship. It’s beautiful to watch. He told her it was no one else for him and he always loved her. I’m assuming he was celibate during their four year separation. The characters were all well written and relatable. This book explores some really heavy themes and trauma. Landon/Kelsey are kidnapped by the mob boss & she’s “used” as his pet. She is raped by him but it’s not on page. She’s broken. It takes awhile for her to come around. The way Landon is with her and how he helps her heal - it’s perfect. It does end on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait for book 2! I’m an audio junkie & I can’t wait for audio on book 2…. This was my first audiobook by Fred Fox.. I haven't heard of him before listening to this book. I love Andi as a FMC narrator. ‼️ ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER ‼️
🎧 Check your trigger warnings for this one. Coming soon in your ears.
🎧 Since I am trying to get back to my regular self, I figured Andi Eloise's voice is a must to lift my spirits up. If I was ever considering a kind of audio to hype me up, probably her voice would be on the top 3.
🎧 A+ whisper game from Mr. Fox. Also, his Marco voice is devilishly good.
🎧 I enjoyed the idea behind this story, how it started and where it ended. I didn't actually mind the change in genres to be honest. The narration kept the buds in my ears. Definitely I will listen to more books from both of these narrators.
❗️ Disclaimer : My rants, ramblings, and incoherent thoughts below might be considered spoilers by some. Also, often, I do not read trigger warnings or blurbs.
🎧 5% Happy rom com vibes, I am here for it.
🎧 30% I did not read the blurb. Again. Twist of feelings, 2 hours passed without even noticing. Ms. Eloise and Mr. Fox are such a good paring. I like it. Even with the darkish feelings.
🎧 38% Things are a bit too fast in the dialogue part. Throws me off a bit but the narration keeps me hooked. Em's reaction to Landon as well was a bit rushed maybe.
🎧 I might have wanted a bit more 'soul searching' after what she's been through. It seemed a bit rushed into the solution the therapist suggested and the activities she took part of. I did expect them to talk a bit before actually trying. And yes I know it's fiction but...
First things first on this one. Please read the triggers because there are a lot of them and they are significant.
On the Edge started out completely different than it finished and I did not expect the abrupt turn it took, but I did enjoy the story. It starts off like a sweet romance and takes a hard turn right over in into the dark where it stays for the rest of the book. I really liked Landon and Kelsey initially, but I loved Landon when he rescued Kelsey the first time. I was so happy that he stepped up and stepped in and took control of a bad situation to save her.
This book explores some really heavy themes and trauma and I enjoyed the mental health rep, Landon's understanding, and the things Kelsey did to try to overcome what had happened to her.
This was my first audiobook by both Andi Eloise and Fred Fox and I thought they did a great job bringing out the dark, traumatic and emotional experiences of this story as well as the soft and sweet parts.

🎧 ALC Review On The Edge by A.N. Davis 🎙️ Narrated by Andi Eloise & Fred Fox 💥 Thank you to A.N. Davis and High Gravity Productions for the ALC!
Whew! This one came in sweet and swerved HARD into dark and dangerous territory and I was strapped in for the ride.
Let’s talk audio, because this duo DELIVERED. Andi Eloise embodied Kelsey with so much vulnerability, strength, and raw emotion that I felt every cracked breath and whispered hope. Fred Fox? Oh honey… that man’s voice deserves a whole damn series. From alpha growls to gentle, broken-hearted whispers, he gave Landon so much depth it hurt... in the best way. Their chemistry? 🔥🔥🔥
This one hits heavy, there’s trauma, pain, survival, and one seriously twisted mob plot. But it’s also about resilience, second chances, and a love that refuses to die quietly. I loved the layered emotions, the high stakes, and the realness of healing.
This book hurts, but it heals too.
Tropes: 👨👩👧 Single Mom ⏳ Second Chance 🔥 Forced Proximity 👨⚖️ Age Gap 👊 Revenge 💔 Love After Trauma 🖤 Dark Romance
On The Edge is the first book in the Secrets Hidden series. Please read all trigger warnings and beware of the cliffhanger for the next book. The story starts out very sweet and then the darkness arrives. Kelsey and Landon are in love. However, due to a misunderstanding they break up. Kelsey begins dating someone else who is not nice after a while. Fast forward a few years and things are much worse for Kelsey. Can Kelsey and Landon survive their ordeal and make it back to Emily? Listen for your answers. The duet narration by Andi Eloise and Fred Fox was brilliant. Andi Eloise was perfect as Kelsey. She voiced all of Kelsey’s love, happiness, angst, uncertainty, fear, terror and shame beautifully. Fred Fox as Landon was divine. He had his strong lawyer tone and his deep, dark, sultry alpha tone. Later on, he had a softer, sweeter, calmer voice for Kelsey and Emily. These two phenomenal voice actors brought this story to life masterfully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.
This Book scared me at first with some of the Trigger warnings but, all in all I was able to get through it without a lot of stress or anxiety over those things. I thought some of the Trigger warnings would have me closing the book, but I also wanted to see where the author would take us.
The story and the plot was well organized, with just enough suspense and spicy heat scenes! You can’t help but fall in love with the characters and oh little Emily, love her cute sass!!
The book ends on a cliff hanger, I am gonna have to bite my finger nails until we find out what happens next.
The story takes you on a journey of nail biting concern for the FMC and then happy redemption love and some sweet hot sexy spice. 🌶️🌶️🌶️.
The character building and story are well written, easy to follow and invest yourself in wanting to know what is gonna happen next.
On the Edge is a dark romance that follows Kelsey, who finds herself stuck in a fake relationship while watching the man she actually loves move on—and to make things worse, she still has to work with him every day. But everything changes when the two of them are kidnapped by a dangerous mob boss… one her ex happens to owe money to.
This book has it all: love at first sight, drama, action, spice, and kinks. Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in.
At first, I wasn’t a fan of the love interest—he gave off major golden retriever vibes—but let’s just say my opinion definitely changed as the story went on 👀
Fast-paced, addictive, and full of twists that keep you flipping pages. A solid 4.5 stars from me!
I finished On the Edge and felt pretty mixed about it. Kesley’s story had a lot of emotional weight, and I liked seeing how determined she was to start over after everything she had been through. Landon was protective and clearly cared, which gave the story some nice moments.
I just didn’t click with some of the things that were happening. I don’t like to give spoilers in my reviews so let’s just say stuff was thrown in there out of left field. Like how did we get from this point to where we are at. The whole kitchen scene, though hot, was wild. Stuff like that was even hinted at in the book at all until then.
Overall, it was fine. Not a favorite, but I can see why some readers love it.
I absolutely DEVOURED this book. BUT, make sure to check your TW's. There are some dark rooted things in this book.
I loved reading the love story develop from a second chance that needed to be a first chance. While all love stories aren't fairytales, Kelsey and Landon's relationship grows strong while being faced with unthinkable events happening. It was amazing seeing the growth of their relationship after such traumatic events.
The build up, the plot twists, the cliffhanger. Everything. Phenomenal. Personal, some of the spiciest scenes I have read lately. I ate it up! Great job A.N Davis! I loved it!
On The Edge (Secrets Hidden Series, Book 1) by A.N. Davis.
This novel revolves around Kelsey and Landon, with Kelsey, a resilient single mother, navigating unspoken feelings for Landon while prioritizing her daughter's safety. Landon, the persistent hero, provides care and safety for Kelsey amidst turmoil. Their relationship is a high-heat, high-conflict dynamic.
Key tropes include second chance romance, workplace romance, single parent, and forced proximity.
The narrative blends romance and suspense with elements of kidnapping, torture, and organized crime
Thank you A.N. Davis for letting me be on your ARC TEAM @andavis
Wild, flawed, and totally addicting. This book had me hooked from the start. I'm talking the first chapter had me wanting to read more. The story was captivating and emotional with characters I genuinely cared about. With intense chemistry, passion, and pain this book was hard to put down. While a few scenes weren’t quite my style (trigger warnings) and there were some editing hiccups, the overall journey was well worth it. A gripping story that I am glad to have had the privilege of reading. I definitely cannot wait for book #2!

Honestly don’t have much to say other than I loved it!! This book will hold me in a chokehold for a while.❣️ Landon’s love is something treasured. While being a dark, spicy story, I also felt giddy and whole while simultaneously being torn apart🤣. This DOES end on a cliffhanger and well… I ain’t too happy🤣❣️ Other than that two scenes will live rent free in my head forever❣️ Thank you A.N. Davis for giving me the opportunity to listen the this incredibly done audio book❣️
This book throws you for an unexpected loop. You start off thinking you’re going to dive into a second chance romance, but it quickly takes a dark turn. So buckle up, you’re in for a wild ride. This book takes the twists and turns to a whole new level. It’s emotional and raw. It dark and twisted. It packs a whole lot in these pages. And the best part of it, was this book was amazing for it. I lived every single part of this book. It’s one you devour and wipe your brute and check your heart when you’re finished.
I don’t even know where to start when rating this book. I will say 5 stars isn’t enough! This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I kept wanting to read more. Every chapter I was drawn more and more into the story. I was able to connect to each character! The story was easy to follow and so descriptive I was even able to visualize the torture scenes. It was amazing! I definitely cannot wait for book 2. If you enjoy a dark romance, this is definitely a book worth reading.
This book had me in a chokehold🤯. The emotions🥺. The heat🌶️.
Kelsey’s growth was perfection, and Landon? Umm Mr Man surely surprised me👀—in the best way.
Andi Eloise and Fred Fox did such a great job with the narration. The brought the intensity for sure.
Heads up…make sure you read the trigger warnings first—some tough stuff in here. But if you’re good with that, buckle up. It’s intense, spicy, and totally worth the ride.🖤
Loved this book. Landon is such an amazing book boyfriend. Please check your trigger warnings this book has some dark elements that can be triggering for some please read with caution. I love all things dark and twisted so this book was amazing. This book is a work romance book that has so many twist and turns I was not expecting. Kelsey is such a complex character that definitely didn’t deserve all the horrible shit that goes wrong in her life. But still loved watching her grow as a character.
Audio Review: On The Edge (DUET) Written by A.N. Davis Narrated by Andi Eloise and Fred Fox
A haunting glimpse into the courageous souls of two determined hearts. Out of the ugliness of life emerges a fairytale of hope. Davis dives into the darkness in order to shine a light on the strength of spirit. Fox and Eloise step out of the shadows and awaken the heart.
This was a very interesting book. What started out like any typical contemporary romance with secrets turned into a darker world with violence and sick tastes. There was a lot of great banter and the narrators brought the heavy and the light topics into perspective. Definitely listen to this audiobook. Such a great listen!
This was a quick read for me and an easy to follow storyline. Though the story is lighter than some of my reads, I found that A.N. Davis will pull the feels from you with mere statements and not long drawn out paragraphs. This I enjoyed.
The whammy at the end is not something I was expecting and though it may not be as dark as my normal taste I will be continuing the series as I need to know what happens next. 😂
Does have quite the spicy scene in it that will leave you panting 😉
