One thing has become incredibly clear to Alexis and Kieran, if they hope to last in the arena of Demigods, they'll need a more robust defense team.
They must take two incredibly dangerous journeys, seeking the prized talents other Demigods would kill for. Except, there is a reason other Demigods don't have these magical workers—they are as ruthless as they are dangerous, and the last thing they want is to be on a Demigod's team.
If that isn't enough, Alexis has received an invitation from Demigod Lydia, the only Hades Demigod who hasn't openly declared war. She's talking like they could be allies, but those of Hades cannot be trusted. A trap is just as likely as a handshake. Still, it's a chance they must take.
Any one of these trips could be their last, but to back down would be the most dangerous of all.

It's winding down, but this has been a fun series. There were some questionable moments in the beginning. Kieran is trying to establish his power base and Alexis is with him every step of the way, bringing her chaos with her.
While I LOOOOOVE the fact that we get all the different characters' voices, and the built-up tension, and the drama, and the sound effects that are F'ING A.MAZEEEEE.IIIING...
I DO NOT like that all the spice was cut out. Like, every. single. scene. We got NUTHINGGGG Not a nut in sight... NUUUUTHING
I read this series YEARS ago with my eyes, so I was surprised to see some scenes come out of nowhere, like when Alexis and Kieran were *finished* and they wake up exhausted...
I was like... ummm.. excuse me? Where was the finishing being done? What happened? WHYYY are they exhausted?!?!?!?!? Why didn't I see this?
Sigh... come on GA!! Don't be doing us dirty!!! Y0u could've kept at least ONE scene... but no We got NUTHING
I love this series, it is so good. Also the graphicaudio production turned out very well. It took a short while to listen through all the six graphic audiobooks and it was so much fun!
Basic Plot: In their quest to make Kieren's status official, Lexi and company plot and plan.
There was a lot of great action in this book, but also a lot of delay and wait. Things escalate significantly as Lexi learns more about her magic and the logical conclusion on the series. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Alexis will be a target because of her powers the rest of her life. To strengthen their Six and staff, the group is looking for new magic users. First they try to find the earthbender Jerry. Amber volunteers, if Kieran and Lexi can find a reason to trust her. After that, they go in search of a Lightning Rod. Lexi realizes that recruting him, would be immoral. But before she can leave, she walks in to Dylan. The demigod of New York has been informed Kieran's crew is in search of Dylan and she tries to forcefully recruit him. As Lexi has promised to leave him alone, and protect his unanimity, she and the gang save him. Back in San Francisco, everybody is preparing for a visit to the Demigod who is from Hades's line; Lydia. She has been spying on Lexi via spirit. Before they go, Dylan shows up and wants to know more about Lexi. After he has been shown how the group functions and operates, he knows he has been missing a family and he sees that with the inner circle of Kieran. Daisy has helped him with seeing that, in her own unique way. When everyone travels to visit The Demigod Lydia in Egypt, it get's weird fast. Lexi sees spirits that are drained and look dead, even though they are already dead. Things escalate and again, Lexi learns under pressure. With some very smart moves from Amber, Henry and Kieran's overal "chess" game, they defeat Lydia, but in an unexpected way. With the (mayby?) help of an even more unexpected participant.
The book series is nicely written and feels well worked out. There are enough hints in the srory to make you question what's happening, and a perfect dose of nice little twists to make it surprising and still believable.
As a cat- preferring-person, I do have 2 notes; - Harding, what the hell did you do to the cats man!? - Alexis, you lose points for not loving cats girl... just let yourself be swept away in kitten-loving.

I hate Lydia. That will never stop being true. I hope she rots in the deepest pit of Tartarus for what she tried to do to Kieran and making the little gremlin cry. Anyone who makes Daisy cry does not deserve to live a happy life. Or a long one.
On the plus, I got to see Dylan and Jerry again. Dylan is so "fish out of water" it's adorable. He has no idea what he is getting himself into with this crew. And Jerry is just kind of along for the ride. And the guys bantering with him will never get old.
But with this book done, there's only one stage left. The Magical Summit. The final showdown. And it's going to be explosive.
Of the series so far, I enjoyed this installment the most. The romance is not spicy and I'm not sold on Alex Hill-Knight's vocal talents being well-cast for this series, but I did like the adventures in this storyline; I found the writing to be better and more believably fleshed-out in Book 5.
A true fan of this series and as such have read and listened to the series twice. Now going through this with GraphicAudio. A great, invigorating experience. Waiting for book 6 "Sin & Surrender" due out in March from GraphicAudio.
