The first book was so good, and this sequel is too. There were twists upon twists upon twists, everyone got more unhinged, one of my most disliked characters got a redemption arc (yay?), and someone else got what was coming to them.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, I couldn't get enough of Sade and Dante, and the fact that there's nothing they wouldn't do for each other.
It's definitely more of a thriller than a romance, even if it might seem the other way around at first, but there are enough romantic scenes to satisfy romance fans as well.
I would recommend going back to read The Loyal Wife before starting The Devoted Husband, because they go together like bread and jam, and it'll only make the roller-coaster ride you're about to embark on even wilder.
A great ending to a wonderful series. The number of plot twist in this book had my little mind moving. I could not predict the end and I'm glad about it. Y'all just read the damn book.
The Devoted Husband by B. Love is a masterclass in suspense, obsession, and the raw complexities of love that refuses to die. This isn’t just a sequel—it’s a reckoning.
From the very first page, B. Love grabs you by the collar and drags you deeper into Sade’s world, where loyalty is tested, love is both a sanctuary and a weapon, and revenge is always lurking in the shadows. Detective Jones isn’t just playing cop—he’s playing judge, jury, and executioner, hell-bent on bringing Sade down. But Sade isn’t the same woman from The Loyal Wife. She’s sharper, stronger, and fully aware that her past is hunting her. And then there’s Dante—steady, unwavering, and dangerously in love. He’s willing to risk it all for Sade, but with Atlas circling like a vulture and secrets bubbling to the surface, even the strongest love might not survive.
B. Love doesn’t just tell a story—she builds a world so immersive that you feel every heartbeat, every whispered threat, every stolen moment of peace before the next storm. The tension is palpable, the twists are jaw-dropping, and by the time you turn the last page, you’ll be breathless, conflicted, and completely obsessed. If you thought The Loyal Wife was intense, The Devoted Husband will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about love, loyalty, and survival. A must-read for those who crave stories that push the boundaries of devotion.
Thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the ARC—this one will haunt me for a long time.
I had this book sitting on my shelf for way too long, and I can’t believe I waited! This sequel is one of the best I’ve read—it was pure chaos and straight foolishness from the very beginning.
Sade and Dante’s story picks up right where the first book left off, and it’s even more gripping this time around. Sade is no longer running—she’s ready to face the storm. But with Detective Jones out for blood and Dante willing to burn it all down for her, the stakes are higher than ever.
What I love about B. Love’s writing is that she doesn’t just tell stories—she creates battlegrounds where loyalty is tested, obsession runs wild, and love teeters on the edge of ruin. Twisty, tense, and unforgettable, this book had me reeling from start to finish.
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster! Sade and Dante went through so much as a couple. Imani’s redemption finally came and that was a pivotal moment for the sisters. Jones, on the other hand, held onto a grudge for over a decade, adding even more tension to the story. Honestly, none of these characters were particularly likable, and the level of manipulation throughout the book left me feeling conflicted. Even by the end, I was still trying to process everything. This was definitely a thriller worth reading because I enjoyed this series.
Thanks NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC
The Devoted Husband by B. Love is a gripping follow-up that doubles down on suspense, obsession, and the messy truths of love that won’t let go. Sade is no longer running—she’s ready to face the storm, but with Detective Jones out for blood and Dante willing to burn it all down for her, the danger cuts deep. B. Love doesn’t just tell stories—she builds battlegrounds, where loyalty is tested and love walks the edge of ruin. Twisty, tense, and unforgettable, this sequel will have you reeling. Thanks to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the ARC—I’m still not over it.
The Devoted Husband is the follow up to B. Love’s The Loyal Wife and picks ups after the cliffhanger. Now readers are ready to jump back on the rollercoaster of twists, secrets and WTH moments. All makes for a page turner to the very end. Dante is not giving up on Sade and to show he is choosing her, he is making moves to ensure Sade knows she is his choice. While Dante is making his moves, Sade learns she is carrying Dante’s baby, however she is now in a situation with Atlas. All is not what is seems with Atlas and Sade again must make a decision. In this midst of this drama, Detective Jones is still on the hunt to put Sade in prison for the multiple murders. His merciless and reckless behavior disguises a connection in this tale of twists.
Again, B. Love penned another storyline that kept me in a chokehold for two days! The character development for Sade and Dante was established in The Loyal Wife. In the sequel, we get to see more of their growing love and now learn more about the secondary characters, like Detective Jones and Atlas. The sequel also touches on Sade’s desire to mend her relationship with her sibling. As readers continue reading and more secrets are revealed, will Dante and Sade survive the outcome of staggering events, readers will need to download “The Devoted Husband” to find out. Overall, I enjoyed this read.
Someone call the police. And then maybe tell them to mind their business. 😮💨 Because THIS BOOK? It’s not just spicy it’s a full blown CRIME SCENE wrapped in secrets, obsession, and jaw dropping betrayal.
Sade is PREGNANT, on the run, and caught in a web of obsession, secrets, and pure chaos.
Atlas? Is very Unhinged and a walking red flag.
Detective Jones? Sir, this isn’t about justice you need REVENGE THERAPY.
And Dante? Woke up with amnesia and STILL said “I’ll protect her even if I have to bury someone.”He meant every single word, definitely was a devoted husband 🤭
Every chapter was like a ticking time bomb Who’s watching? Who’s lying? Who’s next? It’s giving cat and mouse with murder in the margins and love that bleeds. One second I was swooning, the next I was screaming, “Girl, WTF”
This book had me side-eyeing everyone, and questioning their loyalty. B. Love didn’t just close the book she slammed it shut. I was absolutely here for every single moment.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the ARC.
Whew, child! This was a drama-filled, popcorn-munching fest. I’m talking juicier than an early morning soap opera. I was introduced to B. Love earlier this year with Asylum, and I enjoy her writing and stories. After receiving my copy, I quickly realized this was a continuation of The Loyal Wife. The best part? I didn’t need to have read the first book to be completely caught up. I never felt lost, and any questions I had were answered as the story progressed.
This book was absolutely bonkers. It had me on the edge of my seat, just waiting for what would happen next. The drama was non-stop, and the stakes kept rising with each new twist. What I loved about this book was that it wasn’t about the romance, if you could call it that—there was also the intense, obsessive cop who would do anything to take Sade down, though we don’t fully understand his motivations. Then there’s Sade, who has done everything to protect her best friend, her first love, and the only man she has ever loved. The book really calls into question what we are willing to do for love.
Dante was a man who stood on business when it came to protecting Sade. He had this lowkey sex appeal that makes it clear why Sade is so deeply in love with this tender, kind, and caring man. Now, I don’t condone everything Dante did with Imani, but I appreciated how he and Sade managed to make amends with both their actions and found a way to move forward together.
Sade was a little perplexing at times, but I did like her even if I didn’t agree with all of her decisions. If I had to deal with all the things she went through, I’m not sure I would have come out the other side the way she did. She handled her challenges with conviction and strength, accepting the things she did and the roles she played. You’re not sure if you want to root for her or if you think she deserves her comeuppance. It’s hard to make that decision when one stressful and dangerous thing happens after another. The threat of Detective Jones at every turn was genuinely creepy and added to the tension.
I also really liked how B. Love showed us the broken relationship Sade had with her younger sister, Imani. Imani is a terrible person who did monstrous things, but seeing her grow in the eyes of Sade and Dante, two people she treated terribly, was nice. It added a layer of depth to Imani’s character and showed that even the most messed up relationships can have a possibility of growth.
🔥 Favorite part: mystery and intrigue, morally grey characters, and crazy twists.
👀 Be ready for: a high-drama, fast-paced ride full of twists, betrayals, and intense emotions. Sade’s journey is one of moral complexity, and the stakes get higher with each turn.
In The Devoted Husband, B. Love proves once again that when obsession and revenge collide, no one escapes unscathed. This explosive sequel to The Loyal Wife plunges readers back into a tangled web of secrets, betrayals, and dangerously undying love.
Detective Jones is more than just a man on a mission—he’s a man haunted. His pursuit of Sade is personal, obsessive, and terrifyingly unrelenting. As the layers of his vendetta unravel, the stakes rise, and the lines between justice and vengeance blur until they're nearly invisible.
Sade, ever the complex and captivating heroine, finds herself caught between two men—one who carries her heart and her unborn child, and another whose madness threatens to destroy everything she's fighting to rebuild. Atlas is the wild card, his instability turning every interaction into a ticking time bomb. With Dante’s memory slowly returning and the past inching closer, their reunion feels both tender and tainted by danger.
What makes this story truly compelling is its moral complexity. Nobody is innocent, and every choice comes at a cost. B. Love doesn’t just give us suspense—she gives us emotional turmoil, psychological twists, and characters so richly flawed they feel real. The writing is sharp, fast-paced, and brutally honest, with enough curveballs to keep your heart racing and your jaw on the floor.
By the end, it’s Dante’s unwavering devotion that takes center stage. But his love comes at a price, and readers are left questioning: how far is too far when it comes to protecting the ones we love?
The Devoted Husband is a masterclass in romantic suspense—a dark, passionate thrill ride that reminds us love can be both salvation and destruction. Buckle up. It’s a wild, unforgettable journey.
I want to thank NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
💥 Book Review: The Devoted Husband by B. Love 💥 Genre: Psychological Thriller | Romantic Suspense | Black Fiction Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When love turns lethal, how far would you go to keep it alive?
The Devoted Husband by B. Love is a jaw-dropping, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride that dives headfirst into obsession, manipulation, and the chilling line between devotion and delusion.
From the very first page, I was hooked. Sade Griffin is the kind of main character you love, hate, and fear all at the same time. When her longtime crush Dante loses his memory, she seizes her chance—but what starts as a twisted fantasy quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. With each lie she tells, the stakes rise. With every secret she buries, the truth creeps closer. And the bodies? Let’s just say, love isn’t the only thing piling up.
Dante’s slow unraveling of the truth is just as compelling. His amnesia isn’t just a plot device—it’s a ticking time bomb. And when Detective Jones enters the scene, the tension cranks all the way up. Every chapter leaves you asking: Who’s really the victim here?
B. Love blends dark romance and psychological suspense so masterfully, I had to remind myself to breathe. If you love complex characters, unpredictable twists, and morally gray choices that leave your jaw on the floor, this book is it.
💣 Favorite part? Watching Sade try to keep her lies straight as Dante’s memory starts to piece itself back together. It’s slow-burn chaos in the best way possible.
📚 Final thoughts: This isn’t your typical love story—it’s a cautionary tale soaked in blood, betrayal, and the kind of passion that kills. A must-read for thriller lovers who don’t mind their romance with a deadly twist.
Thank you so much to Black Odyssey Media and Netgally for the free book!
The Devoted Husband by B. Love explores the complexities of relationships, family dynamics, and the dark corners of obsession.
From the outset, it's clear that B. Love excels at character development, even if those characters are deeply flawed. Atlas, is a character who embodies a chilling blend of affection and instability. His actions, while often stemming from a warped sense of love, are undeniably "crazy," pushing the boundaries of what one might consider acceptable behavior. Yet, the story also highlights Jones, whose own motivations and actions are equally intense, sometimes even overshadowing Atlas's madness. One could argue that Jones was "doing the most," adding layers of conflict and raising questions about who the true antagonist might be at various points in the story.
The narrative builds to an incredibly tense climax, and the ending is an absolute "chef's kiss." I found myself genuinely terrified of what was going to happen in those final pages, a testament to Love's ability to craft suspense and maintain a high level of stakes. The resolution was both satisfying and impactful, leaving a lasting impression.
With Sade being the oldest sibling, I yearned for her to step into that role more decisively and "put her sister in check." Given the volatile circumstances and the sisters' strained relationship, a stronger assertion of authority or guidance from Sade could have added an interesting dynamic to their interactions and potentially altered the course of some events. However, her actions (or inactions) also contribute to the realistic portrayal of family dysfunction and the complexities of sibling relationships.
Overall, The Devoted Husband views the darker aspects of human nature and love. B. Love has written a compelling story with unforgettable characters and a conclusion that left me breathless and satisfied.
Dante and Sade are both delusional. At least they have each other. The ending of The Loyal Wife is twisted. Given the fact that both parties were willing to do just about anything to nurture the level of intimacy they’ve explored.
I could never be prepared for what awaited me.
I’m judging Sade so hard. She claims to be such a loyalist, but her actions display something else. It’s the way that she acts lol. Every time I turned the page, someone has a burning secret to be revealed.
It’s one thing to preserve your peace. It’s another thing to lack accountability. The latter seemed to have a lot of characters in a full nelson lol.
Don’t get me wrong. This story is entertaining. But Lord, let me never meet a Sade or Dante. It’s implied that such extreme circumstances pushed them to the brink.
You know, I think, Sade’s moral compass is far more askew than Imani’s. At least with Imani, I know what to expect. She isn’t pretending to be “a good person”.
THIS BOOK COMES OUT JUNE 24, 2025, MAKE SURE YOU READ BOOK 1 " THE LOYAL WIFE" before diving into book 2, so that you can get the backstory of all the characters involved as this book is a sequel.
thank you to black Odessey and Netgalley for this ARC. I was able to read book 1 a few days before diving into this one, and I was so invested after that cliff hanger in book 1. I felt like book 2 answered all my unanswered questions from book 1 but also took me on a wild ride. After book 1 I felt like Sade was just misunderstood, like she had a good reason for everything she did and that has a lot to do with how the author wrote this compelling masterpiece. This was my first psychological thriller, and it did not disappoint. I thought Sade was unhinged in book 1, but a few characters in book 2 made her look like a saint LOL. I did not think anyone else would be crazier than Sade, but B LOVE knows how to write a good villain.
I'm happy with how Sade and Imani relationship grew throughout the story as well.
I was never bored while reading this story, there was always something new to keep my attention, and a few plot twist that had my jaw on the floor that I did not see coming at all. down to the last page of the book, I wasn't sure how it was going to end, but I was satisfied with the ending.
I look forward to reading more books from this Author in the future
This is the sequel to The Loyal Wife. It follows up where it left off.
Sade was such a complex character. I sometimes could not understand why she did the things she did. Her decision-making at times sucked. She definitely slowed down a lot, though.
Dante… I still don’t think I like him too much, lol. Yes, I love how he rode for Sade, but I can’t help but think, “Why now?”
Atlas… His character was a lot. He definitely loved hard in a scary way. He also carried a lot of secrets.
I wondered why Detective Jones was so bent on Sade, and let me tell you the tea ☕️ is piping hot.
Imani and Sade 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
The secrets, lies, twists, and turns would take you on a rollercoaster🎢. The suspense will have you on the edge of your seat.
Release Date: June 24, 2025.
Thank you NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC.
THE DEVOTED HUSBAND is B. Love’s sophomoric literary novel was like a crazy rollercoaster ride! It has drama, thrills, and romance for those who love these literary elements. I am one of those people.
I like the storyline, which reveals a significant backstory. It intrigues me enough to continue reading. B. Love has this enchanting way of telling a story. I admire her storytelling a lot.
What I love about this book is the short chapters. It gives readers a better reading experience. I also love how B. Love started the book with a bang and kept the same flow until the end. The ending was good, too. It ties everything together, leaving no loose ends. I like that!
I rate this book five stars and recommend readers to read this novel.
Ebook Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟.2 In *The Devoted Husband*, B. Love definitely blurs the line between devotion, delusion, and destruction. I would highly recommend reading *The Loyal Wife* before this book, since it is a sequel. I devoured this book in one day. I enjoyed how we received multiple POVs (four people). While this book might seem like a romance from the first book, it is a thriller with suspenseful moments. This book will have you hooked and on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns were unexpected.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Black Odyssey Media for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.
This is a continuation of The Loyal Wife and It's just as good and Messy. I have no sympathy for Mr. detective man. I won't spoil it, but I'm happy. I finished it a minute ago, and I still can't get these characters out of my mind. It was that good and enjoyable. such a wonderful, suspenseful read that kept me on my toes right from the start. This author proves every time why they stay in my rotation.
I received a copy of the book via Black Odessey Media through Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own thoughts and opinions.
In this sequel, there were lies told, people setting others up , killings and family discourse all throughout. The book was well written, flowed well and kept you in suspense. Atlas was definitely a delusional basket case when he wasn’t on his meds and Sade paid the price for it. The things that Sade did for Dante were extreme, but I guess love will make you do them. Detective Jones was so obsessed with Sade and Dante that it caused his demise. I’m glad that his ex wife didn’t turn in any evidence. Really good book.
Whew child this book was a roller coaster ride from the start to the very very end. My anxiety was up the entire time, and I was also very engaged the entire time as well. The story was multi layered, and there was honestly just so much going on at every given moment but the way it all came together in the end and the way B.Love wrapped it up in a big beautiful black bow was absolute perfection!!
10 stars-this book was sooooo good, I couldn't put it down. It took me a bit to get back to relearn the characters because I read the Loyal Wife almost a year ago, but it was so worth it. I loved the "gray area"characters, and ALL of these folks were in the "gray" area of choices- not really good- not really bad you know "gray". Wonderfully written and suspenseful til.the very end.
I swear I just wasted precious hours of my life I can never get back 😩⏳. These two books had plots jumping around like they were in a caffeine-fueled relay race 🏃♀️💨. One minute I’m kinda interested, next minute I’m questioning all my life choices 😂. Like seriously… why do that?! The chaos was real, and I want my hours refunded ASAP ⏰💸.
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher ( Black Odessey Media) for this read. This is a good follow up or sequel and I have to say this book was crazy. This was full of unhinged characters doing very unhinged things. Well done B. Love!
This was remarkable work. The twists and turns it took were mind-blowing. The ah-ha moment when Jones persistent pursuit was revealed made me gasps. B. Love is truly amazing.
Sade and Dante this book had a little bit of everything. If you enjoy a fast paced thriller this is the book for you. Wow! Great conclusion to "The Devoted Wife".
