Coveted Bonds #2

How to Save Your Human Invader

Rate this book
With my weapon trapped at my side, the alien leaned in until it was inches away from my face. It inhaled deeply, its eyes drifted closed, and a tremor passed through its body.

“Omega.”

A strange feeling ran through me that made my heart trip over itself and every hair stand on end.

Bryce

Two years ago a human pilot was taken captive by the Alder— a ruthless and savage alien race. And now it’s my team's mission to rescue him. But when I’m saved by one of those ‘savages’ and stranded with him in the jungle, everything I thought I knew starts to unravel. My team is my family, the only home I’ve ever known. Failing them isn’t an option. But how can I resist Kitari, this mysterious and alluring alien who claims that I’m an ‘omega’, and offers me something I’ve never had—a place to truly belong?

Kitari

My life has always been about dull duty, so when a group of alien invaders crash deep in the jungle of my world, I can’t help but investigate. I have been ordered to stay away, but when one of them—a rare human omega—puts himself in danger, I cannot just stay hidden. Bryce is unlike anyone I have ever met—fierce yet vulnerable, strong yet kind–and brings excitement into my life. Can I resist this human omega? Or will I have to betray my own people to get what I want?

In this steamy MM sci-fi romance, two would-be enemies must navigate an undeniable connection that puts everything in danger. Can forbidden love bloom between their worlds—or will loyalty and duty tear them apart? For mature readers.

Whoa, but How to Save Your Human Invader came out of left field. I liked the initial book in the series, sure, but this one? The author knocked it out of the MFing park, y'all. You see it? Nope, it's long gone.

This story has it all:

- Explosive romance (soul-bond, mad coupling in a cave, and all)
- Adventure galore (Kitari saves Bryce's life not once, not twice, but many times over, and Bryce does the same in return)
- Tension, action, suspense
- Loyalty and betrayal
- Beetles the size of an elephant (the stuff of nightmares!!)
- Venomous, um, things - I don't even know, but omg

And also this:

He could kill me and cut my corpse apart, and he wouldn't find what he was looking for. It was impossible to locate love in the human body.

Well, shit. Deep breaths.

Bryce and Kitari are phenomenal MCs. They're both a little reckless and a whole lot of wild. Their bond is BANG! from the beginning, but the trust ... yeah, that takes longer to build. Also, communication! Damn, what a novel concept (yes, that's sar-karsm). Fortunately, the no/mis-communication doesn't last long.

The setting is far superior to that of the first book. No more space ships, metal, and ration packs. Nope. Now we get a lush jungle teeming with life - both scary and harmless, but mostly scary - and a fully developed civilization.

Arcay and Clay (MCs, book 1) are still going strong. Clay basically abandons Bryce in a jail cell (rude!) but comes through at the end. Let's go, humans!

Kitari calling his mate "Bryce Bryce Gunner" was so fucking endearing, I legit melted into a puddle of goo.

Such a fun, exciting, sexy story! I was glued to my Kindle.

Highly recommended, but probably not as a standalone.

* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 - 3.75⭐, but I'll round it down.

This was underwhelming, especially compared to the previous installment -- which was exciting, full of great ideas and a wonderful main love story, while this one just repeated a few things, had a bland love connection and added and removed yet another few side characters.

At this point I honestly don't know where this is going.
We've got another shipment of humans with a different plot this time, we haven't concluded what the mission to Adelemar was about and needless to say there's a time jump of 2 years since the first installment and basically nothing has been said about that time period.

🟣 A First Alpha's son/marine
🔵 The marine is disabled (missing leg)
🟡 They're both pretty damn young, it almost seems like they're just boyfriends, they don't really carry the weight of a soul bond as well as Clay and Arcay
🟢 A lot of action and events that complicate things further and further - needlessly
🔵 The marine is gay, yet his sexuality isn't mentioned specifically, he just falls for the First's son, that's it, that's when you figure it out
🟠 Almost an insta-love? The chemistry wasn't as powerful as with Clay and Arcay, the feelings not really believable
🌶️ Some sex, not much; everything was good though; frotting, penetrative, oral, rimming (-- this one the exact same as in the first installment); t/b (I couldn't see it, they could be vers, it would be more fitting)

Yet another human spaceship comes to Adelemar after 2 years since the last one departed, but this time they're on a rescue mission to retrieve Clay, for whom the humans still think has been brainwashed into staying - and this narrative is repetitive throughout the story. It seemed so damn stupid that none of the men on the ship even thought about another option, they were just hell bent on believing how a person can't be anything other than mind controlled to stay somewhere, they didn't even think outside of this idea.

It almost reminded me of that general in Avatar the way their Chief was talking, it literally seemed out of a movie, all of it.

Bryce was one of the people coming to this rescue mission and he meets Kitari, the First Alpha's son, who's not really treated as such in the Aldar society. That was almost troubling to read. He's basically royalty, yet no one respects him, even the guards don't have that respectful attitude towards him as they do with the other high Alphas.
I had a big problem with this, because Kitari just seemed like a crazy teenager most of the time to them, he wasn't afforded the role of a grown man and he wasn't doing anything substantial with his life either, considering who he was (why wasn't he included in anything?) so he seemed like he was getting on everyone's nerves most of the time.

Bryce and Kitari meet and get lost in the jungle and take some time to rescue themselves and go to Amalya, the Aldar capital, where the people aren't really enthusiastic about getting another human in their midst.
Another thing that was troubling to read, because the First Alpha makes quite a few negative comments about human Omegas and I was surprised to hear it, because Arcay is his Second and mated to a human Omega, so this guy obviously doesn't approve of it, at all.

“You and your people bring hatred and death. Your presence here sullies our land.”

And if Clay is seen as someone who's brought nothing but trouble to their society, I wonder how the hell do they live together then? Clay does make an appearance and he's living the life of luxury, he's happy and satisfied and sees a human in about 2 years of being alone amongst Aldarians, so one would expect Clay would try to establish some sort of dialogue with Bryce and figure things out, but he doesn't. He just leaves Bryce to his own devices and appears at the end of the book flying his small spaceship, coming to the rescue.

I didn't like Jursin, the First Alpha, already in the first installment and I hardly liked him here. He's not really useful and doesn't contribute much other than scowls. He didn't do his job with Clay and Arcay and in this book he's a terrible father. I just don't like the guy.

Bryce and Kitari get together in the second half of the book and they're already in love and want to stay together forever. These guys didn't take much, I can tell you that. Some frotting and - sold!
If Bryce had a bad history with relationships and wanted to belong, that's fine, I loved reading about it, he's clingy and falls quickly - great, no problem there, but in that case the story should've been a bit more emotional, but instead it was just a quick jump into this magical soul bond, then that obligatory action to finally stay together and again skipping many things in the end (like where they live, how they live, how they integrated into the society).

“Are you sure?” he breathed against my jaw.
My voice was thready. “Yes, give me your bond. Please give it to me.”

The author didn't manage to bring out the uniqueness of the human/alien bonding and that connection these guys are going to share for life. The magic just wasn't there, at least I didn't feel it.

I think of this book as a filler book, it gave us some ideas about what's going on and introduced a few new characters, but I still feel like we're not getting the whole story as developed as it should've been.

At this point I'm pretty sure the next book belongs to Rand and Koum (hopefully) and I'm guessing Caldwell will be back soon enough and he'll be paired off with Silvun.

I'm honestly hoping the author hasn't forgotten Ulgar and will bring him back and give him his story. This series badly needs a strong villain and a few strong tropes, because this one was bland. It just did nothing for me, but I like this planet and I like the Aldarians, so I'm just hoping the next installment is going to be better.

This book was so freaking adorable! I was lured in with the unproblematic Pocahontas-inspired meet-cute, and then moved to the edge of my seat when it ramped up into an action movie style ending.
"A sudden and cloying fear washed through me. I wanted it so badly, and I was going to lose it before I even had it. I didn’t belong here. We were on different sides. There was no way this could work out. But it was too late for me, I loved him, and I had no idea what to do about it."

When Bryce is separated from his team on The Forbidden Planet, he is unexpectedly rescued by Kitari, a smoking hot 7 foot tall purple Aldarian. A little forced proximity later and these two adorable golden retrievers are faced with how to balance their growing bond with accomplishing their mission and keeping their people safe.

I really enjoyed How to Save Your Human Invader and am looking forward to seeing how the series will continue. The internal politics of Aldar are super interesting and I'd love to know more. Coveted Bonds 2 picks up a bit over a year after Book 1 ended, and it can be read as a stand-alone. I'd recommend starting with book 1 though because it was excellent and it's always best to enjoy a series in order.

100000/5 stars 🤩

I received an ARC in exchange for a totally honest review and here it is.

THIS WAS AWESOME! Bryce and Kitari are my new babies! They're gorgeous and so precious. 😍
This second book had a totally different dynamic from the first book and I'm here for the changes. I totally loved the first with my grumpy babies Clay and Arcay and now Bryce and Kitari have stolen my heart too!

The story was so dynamic that I couldn't stop reading at any point; it was difficult to put this down to do life. 😫

Kitari and Bryce, and everything they did together as they got to know each other during their journey, filled me with life. It was so nice to see a different location from book 1 and learn much more about the Aldar and the military side of the humans.

The language barrier in these books will never stop being funny to me! It was very entertaining. 😂

Their romance was so cute, my heart melted with every interaction, smile, and phrase. Kitari is a sweetheart and a charmer, while Bryce is such a sweet summer child and deserves all the love in this world.

I hope to learn much more about this world and see how more relationships and soul bonds are created because I don't think I'll ever have enough of what Arden Fox can deliver with this series.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

Aliens are superior boyfriends. Bryce and Kitari are adorable together. From their first meeting, they are drawn to one another but they have to face all types of dangers. I loved watching them discover their attraction while fending off feral animals, feral aliens and feral humans. I enjoyed Kitari being a bit awkward but not ridiculously alien. Bryce just needs to be loved and to belong and Kitari is so for it (and for him). Loved seeing Arcay and Clay as part of the story. There was a lot of action going on and it was perfect.
Loved it.

ARC from the author (thank you!). All opinions are my own etc etc

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected (probably because I was in the right mood) but I think it had potential to be something more given the running theme in the series.

Thank you to Arden Fox for sending over an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This picks up not long after the events of How to Train Your Human Omega (you'll probably want to read that first as it forms the basis on which this book is written). Bryce Gunner and his team are sent to… the Forbidden Planet (?) on a rescue mission that quickly goes sideways when adventurous Kitari stubmles across them.

WHAT I LIKED
- Climax. Not that kind of climax though it was good too😏 The final “battle” was well-written and 100% what I would expect from Bryce. It finally felt like he was working for that HEA after several hundred pages of coasting.

- Spice. I wanted more but it was well written and gets 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 for good build up.

WHAT I DISLIKED
- Big picture. It was probably hinted at in book 1 but it’s very clear here that there’s more at play than simple human curiosity in an alien species / planet (isn’t there always?) Unfortunately, that plot thread was very shallowly explored, instead the book focused more on Bryce and Kitari’s relationship. Ordinarily I wouldn’t mind this but sequels are meant to provide room to explore new / existing themes in greater complexity and that was lacking here.

- World building. Same as above mostly — I’d hoped that book 2 would delve more into the mechanics of the Forbidden Planet and the history of the Aldar. By this point in a series I’d typically expect to know more than the basics even if it’s just from passing comments or occasional rumination / observations by the characters.

Overall, this was an enjoyable, easy read but the next one will need something extra for me to check it out.

Expect
- Interspecies romance — and smut!
- Insta-attraction and instalove
- Omegaverse (no mpreg)
- Mating bond
- Possessive MC
- Cameos from book 1’s MCs
- HEA

”For the first time in my life, I felt truly connected. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was home.”

I read this in one sitting. I loved being back in this world and seeing the characters from book 1 again. Kitari and Bryce were just too adorable and i found Bryce to be relatable. The way the characters went out of way and character for each other was absolutely endearing. The book plot has a little touch of mystery and the overarching plot line has me intrigued. We thought it ended with Ulgar in book 1 but it seems there’s more underway and i absolutely cannot wait for the next book. Silvun or Koum? Which bull headed Alpha will be getting their omega next? (i’ve been Team silvun since the beginning. It would be laughable to see him fall for a human🤣). I would love to be in Aldarmere too.

OMG, what a wonderful book! I loved the first one in this series, but I think I liked this one better. It was, once again, an action packed book and I just couldn't stop reading. Kitari and Bryce made the funniest couple ever!
Bryce is a marine on a mission to rescue another human, Clay, who was supposed to be kidnapped by the Aldar, the aliens living on the planet. But he gets separated from his team and ends up meeting Kitari, who couldn't stay away from the humans. Curiosity killed the cat and all that.
I just loved how both MCs interacted with each other. Kitari realised straight away that Bryce was an omega and his pheromones started flying around them both, but he was respectful and gentle towards the human as he didn't want to make the same mistakes as another fellow friend did with his omega human (read the first book of this series to find out about it!).
Reading this book was like watching an action movie with lovely aliens and mean humans. I loved how Kitari and Bryce's relationship developed, they got to know each other as they went through so much stuff. Fighting wild alien animals helps create a bond, it seems and they were just adorable together. They took on a journey as strangers and soon after they were feeling strongly for one another. Bryce was in need of someone to care for him and Kitari's possessiveness was exactly what he needed.
I've truly enjoyed this book. I got hooked from page one, it was very entertaining and so romantic. It kind of was a slow burn romance and the language barrier between the MCs made me laugh. I can't wait for the next book and find out who might be the next Aldar to fall in love with a human omega.

From the outset, the jungle setting of this installment proved more engaging than the last book. I think it really amped up the story, and I found the protagonists, Kitari and Bryce, navigating the challenges of the jungle environment, supporting one another through adversity, patching each other up and developing their bond through shared experiences, to be compelling. The whole experience added a cool layer to the progression of their relationship.

Speaking of their relationship, it was definitely my favorite part! They were just so darn cute together. Their interactions were genuinely endearing, and I loved seeing them grow as a couple. Those parts involving exploring the cave system or their journey on the road(?), coupled with the wildlife lessons thrown in, were total highlights for me.

However, the villain arc didn't really do it for me. He felt a little too over-the-top, almost like a cartoon villain with his dastardly actions. And while the plot had plenty of action, I felt bored at times. It felt like the author was stretching out the "will they/won't they" thing between the MCs for a bit too long. Overall, though, I'm still giving this one a solid 4 stars.

**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**

4.5 stars!

I enjoyed this even more than the first book! Kitari and Bryce are so different to Arcay and Clay, partially because of their personalities and partially from book 1’s lessons. They’re better at communication, more inclined towards kindness, and absolutely smitten with each other. Personally I loved that difference.

I rooted for this couple from the get-go. With their logic, love, and sense of adventure, they were a breath of fresh air compared to the humans and alpha aliens. As each of them fell, you couldn’t help falling in love with them. I especially loved Bryce. He lives and loves vibrantly with his heart on his sleeve, and I wanna adopt him.

Both of them look so good on the cover too. Major kudos to the artist because the art is gorgeous!

I have some questions I’m curious about, such as what marks some humans as omega and some not? Also curious about [redacted]’s story coming up!

Overall a great addition to the series! I seriously adore this couple so much.

such a great world

This book was everything I wanted in an Alien/human book. The world even with its natural dangers were amazing. A world that was just so beautiful. One MC wanting to be more than what family says he should be and another MC wanting to be his old self again. As both set out to find the who they want to be only to find each other. Finding love with each other.
The writing was great, the smexy was Yum and the side characters were great. I hope we get stories from others. They don’t even have to be from this planet.

For future me:
Dual POV
No cheating/sharing

“You'd leave your home for me?”
He shook his head. “Impossible. You are my home.”

I had expectations when I read the summary and saw the cover (and what a cover; I love it, Bryce is so hot - and I may have spent more time than necessary alternating between my book and the author's instagram account to admire him).

That's how you write a human/alien relationship.
Kitari is everything. And so is the way he reacts to Bryce.
He has a sense of humor, spends all his time smiling at Bryce and protects him h24? Yep, I'm here for it.

Bryce is everything I wanted to see. Comparing him to a golden retriever? Yup, true. A badass golden retriever who doesn't hesitate to jump off a moving ship to get to Kitari.

The book is rather tame smut-wise and honestly, I'm here for it. It gives more impact to their relationship. The tension ugh. I squealed as soon as there was any closeness (a kiss on the shoulder? omg please I was dying).
There are a few scenes where you'll want to say “is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?” but I stayed because of how they bonded above all else.

And you know what? I almost liked Clay better here. He calls Arcay, a big purple alien, “babe” and I love it.

Now, where's my chapter 41? The most important chapter in terms of plot, with surely some revelations, and just, poof, gone? I was SO mad (still am actually).

I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Because with these revelations? I sure hope there's a sequel.

OMFGG I LOVED IT!!

The whole book was really great. I thought it might be like the previous book but it was very different. I loved both but Bryce was definitely my fav.
I liked that it explains more about the world of the Alders and how they reproduced because it was not very clear y omfg, I feel like there will be a relationship between the human who stayed and Koum. I don't know, let's wait and see.

I really enjoyed this book and I really look forward to reading the next one when it comes out. I'm looking forward to it!

I just read it in one sitting haha.
Such a nice sci-fi book !
It gave me Avatar and Stargate vibes ~ I really enjoyed it !

Kitari, the first son, this little hothead and loving Aldar and Bryce, the cute and touched starved, who has PTSD human 🥹 I luw them so much.

I love how the romance just happened in the story, with no denial like in the first haha 🤣 even though I love Arcay and Clay, and I loved seeing them again in that book, Clay was super annoying refusing Arcay all the time 😬🤣
In this book, it is more about the planet, its forests, animals, dangers and beauties ~ how to survive and falling in love. I kinda liked that.
No alpha male here, wanting to force himself on our sweet omega haha, even though Arcay was sweet after in book 1 haha. Kitari is a green flag.

The book have just the right amount of spice, and the very good amount of world building and characters development.
Bryce is honestly my new favorite, because he is strong and vulnerable at the same time. And the fact that he does want Kitari is just the cherry on top ! 🙌🏻
The angst was mild and well done. 👍🏻

I love this serie and can’t wait to read the next book.

* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

3.75 ⭐ rounded up to 4 because this was so damn cute and I was really in a mood to read a book with bonded mates.

In saying that, as adorable the relationship between Kitari (hotheaded Aldar Alpha half of the pair) and Bryce (the touch-starved, clingy, trauma-riddled human Omega) was, there was just something missing.

Maybe I was missing the mature, deep bond that we saw form between Clay and Arcay in book 1. Maybe it was the lack of additional world building (so many questions still unanswered, and more added on). Or maybe the intense feelings between Kitari and Bryce developed too quickly (or perhaps too easily) that It all just felt... rushed? Too much? Not enough?

It was a bit like witnessing two teenagers having their very first, over-the-top, rose-coloured-glasses-on, sun-shines-when-he-smiles and I-have-no-doubts-whatsoever, relationship. BUT, I also have to acknowledge that they actually are young and it was quite clear from the beginning that Kitari really wanted someone to belong to him and Bryce desperately needed someone to belong to, so the all-consuming insta(ish)-love from both sides is kinda understandable and is definitely, as I previously mentioned, adorable!

The whole book was absolutely action-packed and the action-moments are, to nobody's surprise, brilliantly written. The situations these characters get themselves into are WILD! Literally!

The 🌶️ is pretty good, but I kinda feel like this couple coulda easily been verse (maybe that's a personal preference), and I never really got the sizzling connection that the author usually masterfully puts into words.

In general though, I love the idea, the world, the relationships, the premise and the cast of characters (from both books) enough to be hooked and interested in what comes next (the next couple will likely be Rand and Koum, but I really, REALLY hope we eventually get to see the anti-bond, hilariously blunt grump, Silvun, get all smitten!).

Fast-paced, enjoyable and entertaining! Definitely worth a read!

Thank you so much for my first ARC, Arden! This is really exciting! Almost as exciting as the book itself!

This is my honest opinion, but take it with a grain of salt, because I'm biased — I just love Arden Fox's writing way too much. We click in writing, in humor and everything else.

You don't need to read the first book but I highly recommend it — you will understand some hints in this book better, and recognizing the characters from the first one is exciting. Plus the first book is amazing.

Did I like this book more than "How to train your human omega"? Maybe? (Clay and Arcay, close your ears, please, I still love you deeply). I don't know, I love them both.

While HTTYHO is a retelling, as far as I can tell this book is not, so it's really hard to predict what's gonna happen next second — which is great.

I love these characters so, so much! Kitari is a wonderful purple alien. He's smart, deep and sensitive (in a good way). He's really gentle. He's not too overprotective. I loved the way he was constantly admiring Bryce's strength and intelligence.
Bryce Bryce Gunner is such a precious human puppy (not literal puppy, lol). He's always willing to save someone. He's my little kitten, my little son. They both are my sons.
I had been scared these new characters were gonna be unlikable or they were gonna remind me of Arcay and Clay too much, but thankfully Kitari and Bryce are their own people — they have their own charming personalities. For example, while Clay had been scared of commitment and the soul bond had frightened him, Bryce felt like it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He wanted to love and to be loved so badly. My poor baby! I'm so happy he found his love.

Dynamic between the characters is great. They just clicked, and I loved, loved, loved how Kitari didn't want to push because Clay's story had teached him about consent. These guys seemed equal for the most part and they were just... chill? It felt like they could spend their whole life in their own little bubble and they would be fine with it. I love the way Arden Fox uses soulmate stuff in their books — characters feel instant connection but it's doesn't feel like insta-love or as if they are being forced by their connection. Everything happens naturally.

I love the side characters too. Even the human ones this time (some of them anyway).

Worldbuilding is fascinating! In this book we finally travel to the aliens' planet. It was a little too claustrophobic in the ship in HTTYHO (even though I adore HTTYHO), and here we finally saw Aldar's home. So many amazing animals, nature and everything. I've never been so excited about the jungle before!

The plot is heavily action-packed so you better be prepared! There're not too much seconds to breathe. It's very adventurous. An adventure after an adventure. The book is really hard to put down. You just have to know what's going to happen next.

I adore Arden Fox's writing! It's really easy to read, nothing excessive here. And their jokes always make me laugh and smile.

This whole story is very interesting and emotional. It made me smile, it made me cry, laugh and hold my breath. I have finished reading it at 4:30 am just because I couldn’t go to sleep without knowing how it ends. I highly recommend this book and all books by Arden Fox/Arden Long.

!!!NOW FOR THE SPOILERS!!!

I just want to scream about the random stuff I loved.

I WAS SO SHOCKED AND HAPPY BY THE FACT THAT KITARI IS JURSIN'S SON.

Meeting Clay and Arcay again was wonderful.
This made me smile: “Settling down must have taken your edge off, too much lying around with your omega.”

The Arcay's face when he found out they wanted to take Clay away was priceless.

That's what I mean when I say I love Arden's humor: “It is difficult to surprise him. He knows when I am up to something, and he managed to…” Arcay cleared his throat. “Force the truth out of me. But he did enjoy my gift, yes.”
I wondered what methods Clay could have used to break someone as robust as Arcay. He must have excellent negotiation skills."

I loved that Clay teached Aldars human traditions and the language.
Both Bryce and Clay disliking klava had me rolling on the floor.

I loved how curious Bryce got about the planet and nature and how Kitari teached him things. How they both communicated so well.

In this house we love men like Kitari: "Was I the only alpha who did not hold ‘being useful’ as a top priority?"
"The innate urge to protect him was ever present, but I would not claim him, no matter how much my body urged me to. Clay had brought a new perspective into my world, and I would not act without reason as so many other alphas had before. It was not right."

"BRYCE BRYCE GUNNER". That's it, that's the tweet. This is just way too cute.

I was crying: "Humans didn’t stare that long at you without looking away. It was strange, like he wasn’t just looking at the surface level of my skin and face but could see directly inside my soul. Maybe it was the dark, the receding terror, my hammering heart, and my spinning head, but it felt like the first time anyone had actually looked at me and really seen me. We gazed at each other in the darkness."

Bryce Bryce Gunner deserves the world: "I wanted to know everything about him, I wanted to know what he was thinking about, every thought in his head, what his favorite food was, his hobbies. I found myself just staring at him for long periods of time as my heart raced. I thought about us living together, how happy I would make him, how I’d earn my keep, show him I was worth it. I needed him to value me, to think I was important. And every time he looked at me, I couldn’t stop the dopey grin that spread across my face."
THIS IS LOVE, YOUR HONOR.

Kitari deserves the world too: "I took all of the panic and fear that boiled within him, accepting it deep inside myself, and wrapped it in a feeling of calm, attempting to soothe him through the bond. I did not know how, but I did it instinctively, like shifting my muscles to move a limb or breathe."
“Bryce, you are my mate now. I want to share everything with you, even your pain. If you think it will scare me away or make me change my mind about you, you are very much mistaken. I am here now, and we will face it together.”

I loved how the minute they form a bond Kitari wants to take Bryce's pain away.

I JUST CAN'T: “You’d leave your home for me?” I asked.
He shook his head. “Impossible. You are my home.”

Both of them deserve each other. I hope they travel together and enjoy life forever. They are truly each other's home.

“They are your parent, too, now." — This teared my soul apart. Poor Bryce just wanted to have a family, he was so alone, and now he finally has it.

I loved how Clay called Arcay a PUSSYCAT. I'M DEAD.

I LOVED WHEN CLAY APPEARED WHEN HE WAS MOST NEEDED NEAR THE END. I LOVE ARDEN FOR THESE KINDA SCENES WHICH JUST WORK LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO. THIS IS CALLED GOOD WRITING. I'm calm, I swear.

Don't know about the others but that's exactly how we fix things in my country (I'm laughing so hard): "I handed it over and he inspected it closely. Then gripped it by the ankle and smashed it against a rock."

I love that a human is a villain this time. Some of us are evil as hell. Love the small connection with the first book: the reminders about the experiments. I can't wait for the story to continue. So many things to explore. Jursin is more willing to explore now, and I'm afraid humans are not gonna stop. Will we meet humans again? (We probably will, let's be honest). Will we explore new places? Who knows, I just love these characters and this universe so much, I can't wait to come back to it in the future. By the way, I feel bad for alphas. Maybe they find a way to be with another alpha or beta. Or maybe they find a way to recreate omegas. I hope one day, when this series is over (don't want to think about the end), we could get some sort of collection of short stories with these characters. Humorous ones, serious ones or something like this. Clay and Bryce in the alien world? Bryce bonding with his new family? Something with Kesk and Lendel? Plenty desires on my mind, honestly. I just love this universe, thank you ❤️❤️❤️

By the way, the covers of these books are beautiful!

This was a fun installment to the series! I love Bryce so much. He is so optimistic, kind, friendly, and fun. He looks at the bright side even when he's struggling. I love Kitari, too. He's fun, impulsive, thoughtful, and protective. I enjoyed watching Kitari save Bryce over and over again. And their relationship was just fun. They way they interacted and joked around was enjoyable.

I thought the various conflicts were compelling. From Bryce being separated and lost with Kitari to the mission the humans were on, it all felt real and serious, but not too threatening that I didn't think they'd survive. I loved seeing Bryce's struggles with his PTSD from his last mission (losing his leg) and how Kitari notices and helps. I also really enjoyed the side characters, like some of the other human invaders, and I'm eager to see what happens in the next book.

Notes: 2/5 spice levels, alien/human, language barrier, disability rep, ptsd, action, mc raised in foster care, instalove, omegaverse

¿Me puse a chillar?

“You said something. What does it mean?”

I tilted my head. I had said many things, and the moment had passed by in a rush. “What thing?”

He hesitated. “It sounded like ‘nina’?”

Ah yes. “Ninya,” I growled.

“That was it. What does that mean?”

His eyes were set on me. “It means ‘mine’.”

There was a long, heavy pause. “Mine?”

“Yes.”

“Why? Why did you say that?”

“Because they wanted you.” I wet my lips with the tip of my tongue. “But I want you more.”

✨ARC Review

I loved the first book and was so excited for this one.

Two individuals trying to find themselves and end up finding so much more

Kitari trying to make his own path through the challenges of his father’s protectiveness
Bryce trying to get back to himself after tragedy struck, changing him forever

I genuinely loved these two from the beginning, they felt like parallels of each other
their light humor and how they interacted with each other even in the throes of danger was just *chefs kiss

I’m glad Bryce got his found family and Kitari got the other half of his soul. They do genuinely fit so perfectly

I like that we got to have some glimpses of Arcay and Clay!

I enjoyed how we get a little more clued in about the issues from the first book at the end with Ulgar and the soul bonds trying to be studied and that their are so many players with their hand in the pot - who was the chief working with ?? does it tie back to the brother who is working with humans ?

I cannot wait to find out where this all goes . I am hoping the next book will be about one very grumpy alien and one very apparent “asshole” lol

received an arc, thank you sm!

An action-packed space romp with two adorable MCs!

Kitari is a free-spirited Aldar, chafing under the weight of an overbearing father. As a lower tier alpha, he should have heeded his superior’s order to return home rather than explore the strange aircraft they spotted overhead. Instead, he sets off to snoop and discovers Bryce, a lonely human soldier who also happens to be a rare and coveted omega.

Bryce and Kitari are both kindhearted and share a fascination with the world. When the pair are thrown into close quarters, Kitari’s commitment to not allow the A/O pheromone reactions to overpower either of their free will was adorably sweet. The setting is excellent, with the alien planet and its inhabitants vividly realized. The only thing I really wanted was more!

While Fox did an admirable job of writing moments to demonstrate the character’s inner minds, balancing the world-building with the romance is a tough line to walk in less than 350 pages. This led to the romance having more instalove than I prefer. Had there been more page time to spend developing their motivations and character, I think I would have been more invested in their relationship. I did have a lot of fun reading, though, and I will not hesitate to pick up the next book. Definitely recommend this series for fans of sci-fi romance and A/B/O mate bonds! This is book two, and while they could be read as standalones, I think reading in order adds enjoyment.

*I received an advanced reader copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review*

Much better than How to Train Your Human Omega, but still not my favorite mlm alien romance of all time. The overall plot seems to be padded out for no real reason—there’s kind of a twist at the end that just adds pages and conflict that, tbh, I didn’t really care about 😭😭 but the romantic plot is really good. Basically no miscommunication, thank god—all of Bryce and Kitaris romantic problems get solved within pages. Honestly I really liked Bryce Bryce Gunner and Kitari together overall. Good dynamic, nice chemistry. I think Bryce’s prosthetic and PTSD weren’t as much a part of the story as I thought they would be? Maybe I’m just crazy but there seemed to be a lot more set up for it in the beginning than there was payoff. And the sex was boring. SORRY BOUT IT!! But I enjoyed it overall. Fun and not too silly (which is good; I think I’m getting tired of super silly romances). Excited for whatever comes next in this series! xx

I always love a cute "we're magically destined to be together" moment and this felt like that. I also love a language barrier moment and we got that here too.

I like how both Bryce and Kitari are kinda chaotic and fearless. Like I can totally see them getting into some reckless shit for funsies. I liked the good mix of action and plot and romance. I enjoyed the jungle alien creature vibes from their journey in the caves and the jungle. I liked the drama with the team even though I thought the captain was a bit much.

Some of this book just wasn't for me. The way the Number One Alpha dude (Kitari's dad) just hated on human Omegas was kinda weird to me. How long it took these two to get together was dragging me and then the romance kinda went really quickly.

Overall, it was fun to read and I liked the second book more than the first in this series.

I had such a fun time with this. Super bingeable, great fun. Definitely better overall plot than book 1 imo. The romance was also sweet and fun, if a bit rushed. I also found the characters to have some nice layers to them which actually impacted how they interact with the world and each other.

I really like this book. It was fast paced, had plenty of action, and kept my attention all the way through. I am enjoying this series and would very much like to read more.
