I'm a mom, wife, and writer. A Michigan native, I've moved from one Rochester to another Rochester to marry the love of my life. Life is exciting, exhausting, chaotic and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love writing historical novels with a Celtic flair. Scotland and Ireland are my favorite locations to write about. Nothing is better than a hero in a kilt and a strong heroine to give him the run for his money!
Lady Faith MacAlister wishes for adventure, be careful what you wish for . . .
Huntress Lady Faith MacAlister seeks adventure. Her father’s dying pledge tethers her to Wild Thistle Keep, thwarting her desire to explore the world beyond the palisade. Solace is found while hunting and providing sustenance for her clan. When snatched from the safety of MacAlister lands by a rogue bent on securing a ransom, she finds the adventure of her life.
Disgraced Captain Graeme Ross travels the high seas in search of bounty to sell in order to secure lands seized by the Crown. He longs to regain his honor in his father’s eyes and continually risks his life on the high seas. Lacking enough funds, Graeme and his crew follow Lady Faith MacAlister as she hunts. Out of need and desire, he kidnaps her. The lady captivates him for the moment he laid eyes upon her. Bold and spirited, she fights him. When he negotiates a ransom, deception tears the burgeoning romance apart.
Now, Lady Faith and Captain Ross seek to settle those differences hindering their union, despite the stretch of land and sea—and angry Highlanders standing between them.

REVIEW: HIGHLAND FAITH is the second installment in Madelyn Hill’s historical, Highlander WILD THISTLE romance trilogy focusing on Faith, Hope and Honor of Clan MacAlister. This is Lady Faith MacAlister, and Captain Graeme Ross’s story line. HIGHLAND FAITH can be read as a stand alone without any difficult. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Faith and Graeme) HIGHLAND FAITH follows Lady Faith MacAlister as she becomes the captive of Captain Graeme Ross. Graeme’s father is about to lose his lands to the Crown and Graeme’s only chance to save his father is a quick influx of cash from an unlikely source. Enter Lady Faith MacAlister, second oldest MacAlister daughter and sister to the MacAlister Lairds. Lady Faith will find herself the victim of an abduction –but a willing captive within days when she loses her heart to Captain Graeme Ross. What ensues is the building relationship between Graeme and Faith, and the fall out when the ransom is paid.
The relationship between Faith and Graeme is one of enemies to lovers; a captive falling for her reluctant jailer but a man desperate in his attempts to save his childhood home. Graeme will find himself falling in love with the woman he holds hostage but a man that is more than willing to step up in desperate times. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of sexually graphic, over the top language and text.
Once again , there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Faith’s sisters Honor and Hope, as well as Hope’s husband Aidan MacKerry-MacAlister. We are introduced to the crew of the Blue Boy, all of whom will fall in love with our leading lady.
HIGHLAND FAITH is a story of family, love, desperation and betrayal. The premise is entertaining and enjoyable; the characters are colorful, honorable and inspiring; the romance is passionate and fated. Madelyn Hill invites the reader into a captivating story line as one couple finds love on the stormy seas.
HIGHLAND FAITH is book two in the Wild Thistle Trilogy but I read it as a stand-alone and had no problems with the storyline nor the characters. (I will be adding book one to my tbr list) The prologue gives a little insight to the backstory of Hope, Faith and Honor. The setting is Scottish Highlands 1703.
I really liked this book. I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. I connected with the characters immediately, and they're further developed over the course of the book. I also developed an affinity with the secondary characters, especially Bram and Amit.
The story has quite a bit of action, on land and sea. There's twists and turns and there was actually a point where I held my breath, reading furiously to the see the outcome of a major plot twist. I wouldn't say it's a light read, it's somewhere in the middle.
I was given a copy of this book to review for Celtic Dragon Book Reviews in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the second book about the three Scottish McAlister sisters: Hope, Faith, and Honor. This is the middle book for the middle daughter. Like the other two books in the series, this book starts the prologue that shows a pivotal scene in the young girls’ childhoods, when their father is dying after a skirmish with an enemy clan. It's a poignant moment for all and is actually well done. You can't help but feel for these little girls and their poor mother. With nearly his dying breath, the father charges the young girls to lead the clan together in the future.
Faith is a complex character. She is a skilled hunter and enjoys providing for her clan, but she yearns for a life beyond the confines of Wild Thistle Keep. Be careful what you ask for; she is soon nabbed by a man who hopes to ransom her so he can redeem himself in his father’s eyes and save the family from his father’s debt. I didn’t like the men in the other two books of this series, but I did like this one better. He is trying to reform his roguish ways and save his family. He treats Faith better than her sisters’ men treated them.
I have had issues with grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage with the other books in the series, but this particular installment had far fewer issues. There are a few problems, like a rather bizarre sentence that made no sense; it appeared to be a mash-up of two wholly unrelated sentences.
While the other books of the trilogy can help add some backstory, each book in the series is a standalone. Of the three books, this is the only one that I feel like I can recommend.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Captain Graeme Ross was in need of money in a hurry so decided to kidnap for random the beautiful Lady Faith MacAlister to have enough to get back his family home and castle as well as prove himself to his father. His father had lost it all gambling and it cost Graeme's older brother his life. Graeme a second son was treated as unworthy and a scoundrel and his father turned his back on Graeme. He was determined to prove his value to his father by reclaiming the castle. Lady Faith was a huntress; the best in the clan and the teacher to all the boys and the men that needed further instruction for success. Graeme had spotted her in the woods and was captivated by her beauty and skill. As he captured her and took aboard his ship she entered a new world of adventure. She was treated well by all the hands and Graeme. There was an attraction there from the beginning. This is a love story that would only suit Faith since she had a love of adventure and discovery. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Faith discover herself and her desires and see Graeme become the confident whole man he was always meant to be.
Highland Faith (Wild Thistle Trilogy #2) by: Madelyn Hill

With this being book 2 in the trilogy I didn't feel as though lost by reading this one first, each of these stories although dealing with the 3 sisters is its own standalone story. However I am looking forward to reading the complete trilogy after Highland Honor is released fall 2017. This was my first Madelyn Hill story as well. I enjoyed reading Faith's story. She enjoyed hunting and feeling like she's contributing something to their clan... Until she's kidnapped and held for ransom on a ship... She does NOT have sea legs, will she gain them and what of the captain who had captured more than just her? You'll have to read Highland Faith to find out how it pans out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours for an honest blog tour review.
The story really grabs the readers attention from the get-go. Madelyn Hill does a great job being descriptive and allowing the reader to feel like they are immersed in the world and time.
I was surprised at how fresh and how many surprises there were in this story. What a wonderful job of keeping the reader invested in the series and its characters!
Characterization is key in any novel and I felt like Faith was a great main character with real problems that the reader can relate to. She was easy to get behind and root for through the novel.
I think the thing I love the most about Historical Novels is how naive and impressionable the women are, but the fact that they are also strong in their own right which defy their generation. I think this is a great description of Monique.
I think I may have been missing a little more of the history lesson (I need a bit since I'm not very good in History) to help me understand everything that went into this period. I was able to understand most of it, but a little more would have made it perfect.
The main characters were of opposite upbringings and temperaments, but they really complemented each other well. I liked how their romance unfolded. It didn't feel rushed at all.
When Lady Faith MacAlister goes for hunting in the forest, she is fetched by a handsome Captain who seeks ransom for her safe return. Plans go awry as sparks fly between the two and both forget the reason she is there in the first place. As the two fall for one another, will the ransom be in the way of their love? This was a very sweet historical romance, the characters were very likable and I enjoyed reading it until the end. Cuddle up with a cup of tea and enjoy the book. I definitely recommend it for historical romance fans.
This was an awesome read, I loved Graeme and Faith I couldn't get enough of them. There's twist, turns and lots of action on land and on the sea. It's a story of enemies to lovers with the captive falling for her jailer with an awesome intimate and seductive romance you don't want to miss and definite must read for fans of this author and I can't wait to read more!!!

While he has her as a hostage for money they fall in love. But can love last under these conditions? Will there need for the money cause irreparable harm? Exciting and sad read

WOW! Such a fast paced, engaging romance. You will fall in love with Captain Graeme Ross and his crew of the Blue Boy. Faith is a feisty, strong huntress who resists her attraction the the captain. This is book 2 of the Wild Thistle Trilogy, but can certainly stand alone, but why wouldn't you want to read book 1 which features Hope and then book 3 which features Honor (not yet released)
Faith is strong and spirited and easy to cheer for, and the reader can easily get attached to Graeme and his entire misfit crew on the ship. There is plenty to love about this story, family, love, betrayal and even dangerous seas, the author keeps you turning the pages with a well-developed story and secondary characters. The second book in the The Wild Thistle Trilogy series and some how I did not read them in order. This is Huntress Lady Faith MacAlister and disgraced Captain Graeme Ross' story there is suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping. and romance. Lady Faith definitely doesn’t think that cross stitching is her desire. She seeks adventure and this one come with handsome captain when she was captured for ransom. That’s her idea about adventure, doesn’t hurt that he is handsome devil. It is good, entertaining read
