Ace is bad.
Very bad.
After losing my brother, I know I should stay away. So why can’t I?
He’s irresistible. He’s confident. He’s amazing… but he’s dangerous.
He was there the night my brother was murdered. He watched it all go down.
I should stay away. The things I saw weren’t acceptable.
I should want Ace as far away from me as possible—I should consider him a monster and a threat—but when my life is at stake I know I no longer have a choice of the matter. He's the only one that can protect me.
He's done what he can to keep me out of danger, but it's not enough. I need answers. I need the truth. He refuses to give it to me, and because of that I don't trust him. He refuses to tell me what really happened and to just forget about it but I refuse.
I won’t back down until I get answers.
But there’s one thing wrong with getting too many answers. It leads to lies. It leads to trouble. It leads to danger. But worst of all, it leads to me falling deeply and madly in love with him.
I’ve gotta be out of my mind.

London Stallone hasn’t always had the perfect life, but she did have the perfect older brother. He did everything for her. He took care of her when no one else would. He’s always been the shoulder she could lean on, but when he ends up murdered, things turn for the worst.
London soon demands answers, and the first person she runs to is her brother’s co-worker and good friend, Donovan “Ace” Crow. Ace isn’t the ordinary guy. He doesn’t come equipped with flowers and chocolate. He doesn’t hand out smiles and hugs to every female he meets. He’s strict and only about business, and London believes he’s a part of the reason her brother was murdered.
Soon, after finding out life-threatening news, it leads to something Ace never thought he’d have to do for anyone.
Protect her.
Although he doesn't want her to get hurt, it doesn't stop him from being selfish or bitter. He's promised to protect her, but has he done enough ? Has he sacrificed everything in order to keep London out of harms way?
Sometimes love can get in the way of your priorities. And sometimes love can easily become your enemy—your worst nightmare. It can destroy you.

This is a story full of dishonesty. Disloyalty. Broken hearts. Pain. Suffering. Lies. Destruction. This isn’t a fairytale love story. This is real. And it just might break you.
You’ve been warned…

BEWARE.

I hate to give this book two stars. I loved most of it, I loved the characters and the story, and until 95% I was going to give it 4 stars but unfortunately... (and, really, don't read this if you don't want spoilers because it will ruin the book for you)

5+ STAGGERING EMOTIONS STARS!

I have to start this review with this quote from the author:

"This is a story full of dishonesty. Disloyalty. Broken hearts. Pain. Suffering. Lies. Destruction. This isn’t a fairytale love story. This is real. And it just might break you. You’ve been warned…BEWARE."

description

This story was indeed not a fairytale story and I freaking loved that about it! As a romance genre reader I love stories with romantic plots that make my heart melt but I also love stories that may not be as romantic but are ten times more intense, passionate, raw and get my heart racing nonstop. Beware was exactly that kind of book for me. A book that made me feel such a range of emotions from feeling conflicted towards the characters to truly appreciate that not all romances need to be perfect to be epic.

This is London Stallone's story. A story of a sweet young lady who has lived the pain of tragedy in her past but was lucky enough to have the love and support of her dear brother Jonah to overcome it all. Regrettably, tragedy strikes London's life again when her brother is murdered and she's left alone, confused, and in serious danger. And the one and only person that can protect her is the one she shouldn't trust. . .

Donovan "Ace" Crow is dangerous, intimidating, crude, and a son of a bitch yet he's still down right irresistible. He knows a lot about what led to Johan's death but he's not willing to share any information much less with London. He has his own reasons and taking London under his protection both works in keeping the promise that he made and in helping with his plan. What he didn't anticipate was that his intense attraction for London would get in the way and mess with everything.

In trying to find answers, London gets closer and closer to Ace and her attraction for him just grows stronger. He's not sweet or charming instead he's arrogant and domineering so she doesn't understand why she's so drawn to him. Well, it might have been that he's gorgeous, elegant, and a complete seducer. A man in complete control but even London knows that she's having an effect on him and she's more than ready to take advantage of that.

London and Ace then enter a incredible passionate journey where trust is in the balance. None of them can trust each other but as the connection, emotions, and need for each other grow stronger they would have to decide what's more important to them. The need for answers or need for power?

I loved London and Ace together! The sexual tension between them was so good and then their passion was just delicious. London was such a strong heroine with Ace and that was exactly what made him fall for her so deeply. She showed courage, tenacity, and the vulnerability required to break Ace's walls. Ace on the other hand was a complex character for me because my feelings towards him were all over the place. I continuously swoon for him but I also hated him at times. He was just an irresistible arrogant bastard who goes through a beautiful transformation in this story. By the end the way I looked at him completely changes because he captures my heart and I'm left loving him.❤️

This was an extraordinary read with amazing passion, heart stopping suspense, and starling twists. I loved every part of it even the parts that broke my heart. Definitely a read recommendation from me!

Such a beautiful story that left me with this thought in mind: "Where there's love, there's always redemption." ~Nancy

Favorite Quotes:

“The intensity builds between us. It boils in the air, lingers in my lungs. My chest heaves as a small smirk forms on his lips.”

“You don’t scare me,” I whisper. Revealing a simple dimple, he says, “Really? ‘Cause you should be terrified.”

“He’s arrogant. Stubborn. Too much of an asshole to be liked. A dickwad. But, through it all, he’s absolutely gorgeous. Too damn gorgeous.”

“Being around him gives me these feelings… feelings I can’t really control.”

“I don’t want to get close, but the closer I get, the less I feel like I’m a monster or a threat. The more I feel… alive. Human.”

“There are no words to describe us. We’re both torn. We’re both broken beyond words.”

“Him… he’s like a drug. I’m addicted. He’s addicted. We’ve both just overdosed.”

“Why does loving him have to be lethal? A risk?”

3.75 Ace stars

uf, damn this book!
Ok, after reading it, I was, I don't know what i was, pissed maybe, nah, that's too big of a word for a too shitty displeased feeling I was left with

The story wasn't bad, it was actually pretty good. It was suspensful filled with crime, drama, sex, some mistery and twists...with some segments that kinda bothered me and rubbed me the wrong way, but over all I could look through my fingers and let it go for the sake of the story...and then it all kinda fucks up by ending in well, not satisfying way for me, anyway

The story
She, our heroine named London, is a psychology graduate (I am emphisizing this fact cause of the way she acts through out the story and my final thought could be just: "what a waste of an education!"). Anyway, it all starts with her graduation and her brother's visit. But her brother Jonah brings his business partner with him - Donovan "Ace" Crow, a very, very dangerous man.

And the shit just starts rolling from there...

London whitnesses her brother's murder in a shady business deal gone wrong and Ace being there as well. She runs away, Ace finds her, persuades her to come with him (remember, she only met the guy) under the disguise of "bad men" searching for her as a whitness to eliminate.
She goes off with Ace under his protection (and he's even worse than the "bad men" that are after her) to New York for three month. Like that is the "limit" or smth. BUT all that time Ace has a secret agenda of his own and he needs those 3 months to find the items that Jonah stole and hid somewhere safe but it's only known to London on some subconscious level
(WTF? I was hoping for a more developed heroine, I mean she finished psychology?! )

BUT London slowly but surly sucumbs to Aces "magic", sexual predatory ways and all in order to get what he wants.

To tell you the truth Ace is a truly bad characters - a killer, a merciless fucker prick of a cruel businessman bastard BUT let me tell you the guy is phenomenaly described and you can almost feel the undeniable need to "kill" him yourself BUT he's consistent to the bone.
Of course, through out the story he slowly changes cause London affects him too and he slowly "softenes up" a bit...but he remains who he is in his true core - a professional breed of a cruel, merciless, ruthless dealer, a criminal who has no problem to kill and walk away.
it's difficult to explain what rubbed me the wrong way, well actually I don't have the time or the extra words to go into that right now, let's leave i to others if they want to point it out...
but it manly has to do with the actions of the characters. Mostly the heroine. I didn't get her. Like she didn't have a mind of her own unless it involved his dick in her...then she was mind blown and could probably assemble a coherent thought. So yeah, that kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

And for me, Ace, no matter how bad he was, saved the book until the end...

and thank fuck there's a book 2!
Knowing that there's a second part, it better leave me satisfied or else...

so, yeah I guess I will read the second book...

3 stars.. beware... of the ending...

The story started well, but after Jonah died, it kind of went okay.... I do like the flow of the story but there's something missing and I don't know what that his...I just find it quite lacking, like a glue that would make the whole novel fit... A WHAT?!?!? whatever, I'm sleepy...
I like Ace, but I don't love him, he's kind of lacking too..

It took me around 50% of the story to search the word 'married' again, coz the first time I did, nothing appeared...why did I search that word? coz I peeked and saw the ending... the heroine got pregnant, so when a girl gets pregnant, means a proposal should happen. So at 50%, I peeked again, then read the 2nd to the last page this time, then HOLY SHIT! I wasn't expecting that!!

When Ace mouthed 'I LOVE YOU' and begging those fucking goons to spare the heroine's life in exchange for his, I teared up...

SOOOOOOOOOOO.... I like the story and the characters...but why 3 stars?? because of the ending...

and that title? I think it means.... READERS, BEWARE.....

This would have been a solid 4 star book if it hadn't been for the last 15-20%. London's brother got mixed up in the wrong crowd i.e. the mafia. He died and she knew his friend Ace had something to do with it. Her reluctance to trust Ace made sense. There was obviously something he wasn't telling her, and he obviously wasn't the kind of guy to protect a random friend/employee's sister out of the goodness of his heart. But he was hot, so apparently it was easy for London to forget that he was a scheming manipulative murderer. I liked the characters and the story enough that I was willing to overlook London's idiocy when it came to her attraction to Ace. The guy was appealing in a charming asshole kind of way.

Towards the end the truth was revealed about Ace and her brother's relationship. The shock she felt about it didn't really make sense to me. She hadn't known the details but damn well knew from the start he had something to do with it or was possibly behind it. For no apparent reason she recovered from her shock quickly. I hate cliffies like the one at the end of this book. The second one is out, so it's not like I've got to wait to read the next one. The end annoyed me just enough that I don't want to read the next one right now.

All I can say right now is if there wasn't a second book to this, I WOULD HAVE FREAKED OUT!  I can see why some people in their initial reviews of this book were totally freaking out by the end, but I knew there had to be some kind of relief in the 2nd book!

I loved Beware, loved it, loved it, loved it!!  London is just graduating from college and is pleased to have her brother there.  And even a little more pleased with the person he brought with him, Ace.  However, her brother has been keeping things from London, and her world is about to be rocked to her core!  She witnesses a murder, along with Ace, and she is then in need of protection from the people who know she was there.  Ace jumps in and takes her home with him.  Ace.  He was one hot, hot man!

This book was a total page turner, and like I said, if there wasn't a book 2, I would have been really pissed off!  Okay, lucky me, I'm jumping right into Book #2!

My low rating has nothing to do with the ending (which I think does fit the story), and everything to do with the ridiculousness of the characters. London has just graduated college, but for as immature and sophomoric as she seems, it could have been high school, and I would have bought her being 18 rather than young twenties.
Ace kept referring to his guys as being like brothers, and he trusted them, but I did not see one thing trustworthy about any of them. And I absolutely cannot understand why Ace would think that way; there was nothing about the story to support this.
And the constant drinking. Good grief. I don't know if London and Ace were ever together without one or both being drunk... Every time they went out and did anything, there were copious amounts of alcohol. I suppose this is a personal dislike of mine, and maybe others won't mind it so much; it was just so excessive. Ick.
Now, the back and forth actions/emotions in this book... It made me think of the Jack Nicholson movie, Chinatown, where he's slapping the lady and she's crying, "my sister. My daughter. My sister. My daughter." Gah. There were just so many inconsistent feelings throughout, I don't think I have the fortitude to even begin to explain them all. If you read the book, you'll understand, they're glaringly obvious.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first and last one-thirds of the book, however, the middle of the book did not work for me. The book starts off very suspenseful, and it had me staying up past my bedtime reading (I need my beauty rest, so that is a big deal). It was refreshing that there were twists and turns, and the storyline wasn't completely obvious.

Once London and Ace are ensconced in New York, the storyline slows down too much and focuses primarily on their sexual tension/sex. I didn't find the sex distractingly hot, and I thought the shopping and sex scenes detracted from the main story line. If the suspenseful tension and menace had been maintained throughout the book, I would have enjoyed it much more.

The story gets back on track and becomes a very good suspense/thriller again. I'm not saying more, because I would ruin the ending with spoilers. The best part is the unexpected ending. I loved the atypical ending, and while some might find it unsatisfying, it was so much better than what you presume will happen!

3 Estrellas!

2.5 disappointed stars

It had potential to be so much better book...the writing style was good to keep
me going , but the flow of story & the storyline itself were disappointing.

But it is full of flaws....

I would have kept blind eye to all those errors ,
if the author would have build up great romance
or thrown in some swoon worthy scenes... the storyline slows down too much
and focuses primarily on their sexual tension/sex... henceforth
all my focus was drawn to the errors...
& so it begins.... the List

A little bit about BEWARE:

If you stalk/ follow the Author Shanora Williams on facebook you know she was working on something BIG and that she is very passionate about it. The title alone sets readers up for what to expect. BEWARE is about London and Ace. London meets ACE through her brother and they instantly have a connection .It's not that insta love kinda thing . It's the kinda insta HOT. Ace and London's relationship surrounds around their joint bond to Jonah, London's brother. After her college graduation London is faced with a life changing decision and it's whether to trust Ace as much as Jonah does or go with her gut feeling and BEWARE.

What I liked about BEWARE:

I love banter between characters. Ace and London have plenty of back and forth. She's very feisty and does not take his crap. While he is not use to someone not taking his authority serious his patience is tested so many times by her. I really enjoyed the story line and plot twist. Our hero Ace he's flawed. He's portrayed as very hard on the outside but you know deep down in there he does care. It's shown in the way he takes care of his family and associates. I enjoyed reading about his lifestyle the author did a really good job at writing scenes that I could visualize easy. I felt like I was in Atlanta or even on a yacht. I also am happy to share that BEWARE is a standalone novel! Everything is wrapped up in this book. Oh, and those bedroom scenes yep they def had an effect on me. Ace is HOT ladies and he likes to take his aggression out in the bedroom. He will literally drive you MAD. There is one scene when they are doing what they do and he does something that literally had me say WHAT out loud. Actually I think this happened twice.

Things I didn't care for as much:

Well, there isn't much that I can say here because the story flowed and once I started I could not stop until I was finished. However I did feel like the plot of the story was predictable once Ace and London established feelings for eachother. I kinda had an idea on exaclty how things would end for the characters. I hoped it would be different but BEWARE is very realistic to what people experience in real life.

Would I recommend this book:

Yes! This is a great read that will have you glued in as soon as you start. If you are looking for swoon and romance than this book ISN'T for you. Ace is a murderer, a liar and an asshole. Just how I like em' well minus the whole murder part but yea #ThugsNeedLoveToo .BEWARE is an action packed story about friendship, loyalty and finally finding love.

BEWARE of falling in love with the sexy mysterious bad boy ACE!

Beware took me on so many twist and turns. For a while there i wasn't too sure if i loved Ace or just loved to hate him! MY HEAD WAS SPINNING. I was on the edge of my seat till the very end.

London was great! She was the character i related to the most but she was weak but in the end she became so strong it was beautiful. She goes through so man horrible things in here life I'm glad in the end she came out the way she did!

Ace is so damn mysterious. You are guessing through out the whole book what he will do or admit to next. Loved the THRILL of it all!!!

Now let me talk about these steamy OH MY GOD I SO BLUSHED AT THAT HOT SCENE parts. ACE LOVES CONTROL. I mean dang..... like LOVES THE CONTROL. lol When they get The Freak On its so intense. *fans self* WOWZA..... I need an Ace in my life *le sigh*

Now after seeing London and Ace go through their up and downs i am in love with Ace..... well lets just say i ugly cried at the end of this book so much i could fill up a truck load with my tears.... *sniff sniff*

I feel the way it ended was perfect though. It HAD to be that way.

Shanora you did an amazing job with this story love!!! Im so thankful i got to experience it.

4.5 star review

Beware is a different type of novel from her and although I thought I knew what most of the story was going to be about from the blurb I was pleasantly surprised. She took her two main characters, London and Ace and took them to a whole new level. A level that made you looks outside the box and wander outside your comfort zone.

Ace is bad and dangerous and his business and making his money is more important to him than anything, until her. London is thrown into his life unexpectedly after the a tragic event takes place and has Ace feeling like its his responsibility to make sure she is safe and taken care of.

London’s character is very dynamic. She is sometimes timid and plays it safe but sometimes doesn’t back down and will walk into fire with her head held high. She doesn’t give up easily and fights for what she wants. She wants the truth; the truth that only Ace holds and she will play whatever game needs to be played to get the truth. Question is, can she handle the truth?

When Ace and London start to finally realize that they can use their bodies and the lust that runs between them to their advantage they take complete control over that and they use that to their favor, but what they don’t expect is while using each other for certain reasons that the other isn’t aware of the lust turns into sometime more.

With the life that Ace lives it doesn’t want to bring someone that he is quickly becoming to care about into his danger. Keeping London at arms length to keep her safe is his plan until he gets the information he needs from her and has ever intention of setting her free, back to the safe world she is used too. London is stubborn and will fight for what she has finally admitted she wants and that is Ace. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Ace is sexy as sin and carries more baggage than Delta Airlines but there is something about him, something along the mysterious side that pulled me towards him. I didn’t always agree with how he handled certain situations but at the end of the day he was still a sexy beast of a man that I would love to tame.

The beginning of the story for me started off a little slow because I knew something big was going to happen and I wanted it so badly to happen and boy when the action took off it was all she wrote. I was glued to the book until the very last page. My emotions were all over the place from happiness, sadness, angry, and utter devastation.

Shanora girl I love you and I have to say that this book is so much different than any of your other books and I loved it very much. I seriously had to process the ending for a few days to decide on whether I liked it or not. And if I really think about it I did like it. I think it ended the way it needed to end. You have to look outside the box when reading Beware and really think about it before you come to quick decision on whether you liked it or not. You will go through many emotions during this book and I loved that Shanora took a risk with this story and I am glad she did. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next. Oh and my favorite scene – well she knows what my favorite scene was and I am sure those that know me well Keisha Langston and a few others – yep it’s in here! Happy Reading!

BEWARE was the first book of Shanora’s that I have read, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised…I loved it! Don’t go into this story looking for a fairytale…if you do you’ll be disappointed. Beware is dark, suspenseful, mysterious, and smoldering H.O.T! 4.5 ACE is SCORCHING STARS!

“I need answers… he’s the only one that can provide them… I’ll work my way in… for my peace of mind. Then I’ll have him locked away.” ~London

“I have to get her to trust me… to get her close… I’ll get what I need, and she’ll be back on her way… I can convince anyone into anything. Especially a woman.” ~Ace

Beware is the story of London and Ace. London is just graduating college and her brother Jonah, who is the only family she has left, attends the ceremony to show his love and support for her. This is when she meets Donovan “Ace” Crow, he attends her graduation with Jonah because they have some “business” in town to handle. London feels an immediate attraction to Ace but she also feels an air of danger around him, and she feels she can’t trust him, but regardless she can’t help fantasizing about all the things Ace could do to her body. Unfortunately tragedy strikes, leaving London in Ace’s protection.

"Ace" makes it known that he is dangerous, domineering, cocky, wealthy, and he can get any woman to do anything he wants….and he knows it. London has something he wants, and he plans on using any means necessary to get her to disclose the information he needs. Only Ace didn’t know that London would awaken feelings in him he’d never felt….the attraction between the two is too intense to resist….can London really trust Ace? Will Ace give up his power, his empire for a chance at a life with London?

“Why does loving him have to be lethal? A risk?” ~ London

“I don’t want to get close, but the closer I get, the less I feel like I’m a monster or a threat. The more I feel… alive. Human.” ~Ace

I loved BEWARE! For being such a young author, Shanora’s writing is amazing…full of passion, emotion, and suspense. One of my top favorites of 2014! If you can handle the unexpected, think outside the box…add this one to your TBR list, you’ll love it!

Worst kind of character

Is a whiny brat. Seriously, all the complaining and tantrum throwing is beyond annoying, especially from the female character. I was hoping she would have been ambushed . before Ace finally had her agree to go with him. I mean come on! He is trying to help and save her, but no. I can't leave my job, friends, and my home. Doesn't matter some cartel is after me, I'm sure it will go away. For someone who had to grow up fast, this character did not emotionally grow up. Not once did it occur to her how her brother could afford everything. Cars, clothes, houses, her college. Nope, she will live in denial because she benefits from this. Once London realizes oh maybe my brother is doing something illegal, i'll play Nancy Drew and follow him.
First off, you are going to tell me Ace and Jonah didn't realize she was following them, sure I guess thats plausable, but she did this twice. I highly doubt a recent college graduate could outwit some criminal masterminds.
I have already mentioned London's whiny brat attitude, but beyond this she and Ace have absolutely no writing chemistry. He explains he wants her, and envisions her naked. That's it. No sexual chemistry there.
Ace is a flat character. Make him big, scary, and rich and there is your main man. He has no depth and good characteristics.
The last thing I dislike is stating the obvious. I really hate it when a character asks what is this, when right in front is the Damn answer. "What is that?" It's a piece of paper, what did you think it was? A bomb? "Where are we?" Gee watch as we pull up to a hotel or a house.
I am only at... 47% of this book- forgot to mention that. I cannot continue on. I like thriller, romance, gangster books, but I cannot read a book where I wish the main characters die.

Just okay.

I'm a bit disappointed with this book. I've read many of Shanora's books and loved them! The Ace Crow duet is an older book of hers just with a pretty new cover, but it desperately needs to be edited and proofread. I might have been able to enjoy the book more if I wasn't frustrated with all the errors. I went into reading this story with high expectations, and they weren't met. Bummer.

As for the story itself? This is a romance book or I thought it was, but I sure didn't feel like I was reading a romance. Ace was the biggest asshole up until around 80% of the book. I tried to like him, see the good in him and feel compassion for his past, but I didn't. The way he treated women and London for much of the book was too much for me, and I didn't feel "the love."

In the end, Ace was sacrificial and did admit his true feelings to London, but it was too late for me to give a crap about him. I liked London enough, and I really liked Ace's cousin Bianca who had a good head on her shoulders.

I'll read Finding London because I'm hoping the 2nd book is better than the first and Ace might be redeemed. Fingers crossed.

Let me start off my saying that I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning.

I wanted to know who, what, why how and so on….

However…………

Spoiler:

I cannot and I mean CANNOT believe he fucking dies!!! I hate it when I don’t get my way! I want the HEV dammit!

I get that the author wants to be “different” and blah blah blah but damn I’m reading to escape the shitty real world. I know in the real world that he dies and everyone doesn’t always get their happy ending. It’s not real it’s fake. He can live!

I love the twist at the end but it should have been: I died in the name of love. You leave. Think I’m dead. Then….SURPRISE I’m alive…gotcha! Then we all cheer and I go to bed with a content smile upon my face 

Is that too much to ask….? Okay whatever…. I liked the book and would have loved it if I didn’t want to shake the hell out of my kindle (okay maybe I shook it a little…) because of the good dramatic yet unnecessary ending.

Life is good...You have made it to your college graduation ceremony.
Scanning the audience, you spot him!!! Yes, he came!!! Jonah, the brother who does everything in his power to make sure his baby sister has had what she needed in life. After the two of them lost their parents at a young age, Jonah has to be the greatest big brother around.
But whoa.....who is that sitting next to Jonah at the graduation ceremony??? And so it begins....
This book was fast paced, hot, crime, killings, hot and the ending!!!! Well damn straight up didnt see that coming.
Yet another fantastic job from Shanora Williams!!!

wait, what the hell just happened?!!

3.5 stars. I tried to blend my emotion so I can feel this book but it seems that I failed. the book is good, yes. but I don't know, it just doesn't feel right. I'm not saying that this one is bad read it just myself that seemed wrong because I can't put my emotion into when I read this. and yes, I'm not entirely pleased because the ending pretty f*ckep me up. as may some adults say : it's the moment when you almost reach your "peak" but you failed. lol

buuut you have to prove it yourself and I do really hope that I was wrong! so go get & read it! :)

Ace and London
wasn't easy to figure out what Ace did for a living..around 50% was told he had a goatee..why so late in the book to find out what he looked like? Ace always dressed nice..had a jet, drove a Benz..lived in a penthouse and had a docked yacht near by in NYC. He used ppl..was using London for his own greed. nice plot, sweet twists and turns..was left wanting more..Bianca, his cousin befriended London..good book
