Katarina is a Royal Knight who steals a relic from a very powerful sorcerer in order to save her kingdom. Now she is on the quest to return the relic to it's rightful place, but the journey won't be easy. Not with Zebulon doing everything he can to prevent her from completing it. Befriending a couple of mercenaries and a demi-god, Katarina finds her allies in the most unlikely places.
An interesting story. The moment I read the blurb I was hooked on the premise. It looked promising and I do like a light fantasy if I can get it. I went into this story unsure what to expect. I am not familiar with this author or her writing. I also did not realize that this is more YA then anything, but that didn't deter me from giving it a shot. The writing itself was wonderful. I think Wheaton has a way with words and it shows in this book. It flows, and it's kind of beautifully written. I was hooked from the very start. If you are looking for a light sweet, YA fantasy, this is it. As far as light goes, I mean it's easy to follow the quest and the journey that Katarina goes through. There is a bit of gore in this book, but not an overwhelming amount. There was some confusions for me in the story. I couldn't remember who sent Katarina to meet Ethan and I was a bit confused on why they trusted him because if not for the insta-love that happened between them, Ethan did not look very trust worthy at first or at least his actions that went unimplemented weren't. I don't know the characters ages, especially Vale's, but he seemed awfully young for me judging by his behavior and actions I would have put him at 10-13, but I think the author has him older. Plus the only other female in the group seem to have mood swings towards Katarina, she is nice to her one moment, and completely mean the next. Another thing, the age was really a weird issue because I guess they are teens? So how is she a high ranking knight? Insta-love. I have to sadly say if I knew this book has a bad case of insta-love from the beginning I probably would have avoided it to start with. Nothing frustrates me more then insta-love and this has a bad bug of it. It was so fast and so sickly sweet that I had a really hard time dealing with it. Maybe it's one of those things that gave this book a lower rating. She didn't even know Ethan when she is already all over him kissing him. It was kinda of awkward. I was glad that it dwindled a bit as the book went on. The world. I do like the world the author created. I thought it was kind of original and cool. I liked the setting, the monsters and the magic. I think it added a nice addition to this story making it so much interesting. The action was nice when it happened. The pacing did seem to wary for me. There was a lot of moving, a lot of sleeping, but when the action happened I enjoyed it and I enjoyed the pace. Once again a bit bloody but nothing no one can handle.
If you like a light fantasy filled with lots of romance, magic, an interesting adventure and some very creative writing you should give Stolen Moon a shot. I have not managed to get to book one, but I think the fans of book one might actually really enjoy this one as well.

Stolen Moon is a sweet and enjoyable YA fantasy novel which is the sequel to Shadow fire and is fast paced and full of action and light romance. However, there was a lot of parallels between this book and Shadow Fire as both the plot and romance were very similar.
Katarina is a very strong woman who has had a hard life but did not make her a harsh or uncaring person, but I did feel that she did not react liked most people would after their entire family just died as she seemed to get over it very fast. Ethan is the perfect hero as he is charming, protective and very loyal to his friends.
The romance is very sweet but the amount of time it took them to fall in love was even quicker and unrealistic than Shadow Fire. It was nice to see Ashlyn, Zane and some of the other characters we grew to love in Shadow Fire.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Light Chronicles series and whatever else Wheaton writes next. I would recommend Stolen Moon to fans of the first book Shadow Fire.
I received a copy of this book directly from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Stolen Moon is the second book in the Light Cronicles series but can be read as a stand alone. I had the privilege of reading Shadow Fire(book #1)before beginning this one.
This book follows Katarina as she embarks on a quest to return a stolen relic to its rightful place. The journey is dangerous and she encounters challenges from the very first page. Along the way she makes friends with a group of mercenaries who join her in her quest. Among the diverse group of mercenaries is Ethan who awakens feeling in Katarina that she has never felt before. Together they battle the forces of evil in an attempt to destroy Zebulon and his quest for power.
As with the first book, this is a clean young adult story that is appropriate for readers of all ages. There is a lot of cuddling and kissing but no sex or swearing and I think that it will appeal to the younger fans of this genre. The gore factor is mild compared to what is out there right now yet there is enough to keep things interesting. There is a stronger emphasis on the characters than the fighting.
The budding romance between Katarina and Ethan was sweet to read. At times the sweetness was a little thick but it was reminiscent of young, first love. How the two of them comforted, looked out for and encouraged each other was endearing. I can see young girls really enjoying their relationship.
Over all Stolen Moon is a solid book that I enjoyed reading. I think that it will appeal to younger readers and readers that prefer a cleaner story.
A sweet and light YA fantasy that I really enjoyed, Stolen Moon was a lovely read. With the adorable romance and quest to take down a tyrant, this book was wonderful and I really liked it.
Katarina was a strong heroine. She was part of an elite group of knights, which proves her fighting skill, but she was also resilient and continued to survive in difficult circumstances. She was a likable character and I thought she was great.
Ethan was also wonderful. Very loyal to his group of mercenaries, he was clever and determined to to anything to keep his loved ones safe. And, he was an absolutely sweetie who was simply adorable. I really liked him as well.
The romance was very sweet. Katarina and Ethan simply loved each other. Despite what was happening around them, it was a constant in all the chaos. I thought they were a lovely couple.
The plot was fast paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. The quest to take down Zebulon was interesting but, for some reason, I wasn't quite feeling the thrills of danger like I have with this author's other books. But, I still enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely.
Stolen Moon was a delightful YA fantasy that I really liked. Sweet, romantic, with likable characters and an enjoyable story, this book was great. YA lovers, this is a book worth checking out.

I was gifted this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
Stolen Moon was a fabulous sequel to the Light Chronicles (even though it can be read as a standalone). I absolutely loved how the characters from Shadow Fire (book 1) such as Ashyn, Zane, Loki, Taranis, Shadow and the Griffin Freya. I loved how they all connected with each other.
The beginning of this book had me in tears, ot was heartbreaking to see how Katarina's life was thrown upside down!
I totally enjoyed Katarina and Ethan! They reminded me so much of Ashlyn and Zane. Katarina was bold, sassy and very into her sexual side as a woman. Ethan was thoughtful, strong and bold when it came to show his emotions towards Katarina. Both of their backstories made them more alike then anything else.
Zebulon is just as evil as his brother. I don't know if I hated him more or less. I think he just wanted to control Katarina on every turn. I didn't like how he killed men that liked or flirted with her, I hated how he thought he had a claim on her...it was disgusting.
I enjoyed the ending so much. I love that Katarina and Ethan had the same beautiful end as Ashlyn and Zane.
This was just magnificent and if you're looking for a good fantasy romance, I highly suggest you read this.
A few months ago, I was blessed enough to be chosen to review Shadow Fire (book one in this series) for its' blog tour. I was a little skeptical, as I hadn't been having much luck with the fantasy genre before I picked it up. Long story short (you can read my review of Shadow Fire by clicking here), I fell in love with Shadow Fire from the very first page. It didn't take long for me to decide that I had to get my hands on book two ASAP! Although I took a bit of a break between books, I was still just as excited to start this one!
Stolen Moon tells the stories of Katarina and Ethan in their adventure to take down the evil Zebulon! In terms of the plot, it does kind of read a little but like Shadow Fire, but the characters were different enough that the story really was its' own.
I guess I will start out with the plot this time. The plot to this one was actually a whole lot deeper than that of the first novel. This second outing had so much... more? Dare I say. More emotion, more love, more rage, just so much.. more! For instance, in book one Ashlyn had a pretty sad story, being chosen to save her village from evil forces and leaving her family behind to face the dangers of the unknown, right? Well... That's nothing compared to Katarina's family killing themselves to prevent being captured and sold as sex slaves, while Katarina was fighting from being defiled by pirates. Woah, deep, right? I won't go too much farther into the plot, but I will say that if you thought book one was lacking and were asking for more, book two did NOT disappoint.
You may be asking yourself, "this is the second book in this series, but can I read it as a standalone?" Although the blurbs and Goodreads say yet, I'm actually going to say no. Although I believe the intent was to have this be a standalone, I think it really relies a whole lot on knowing who some of the important players are. If you don't know how evil Delistaire was, you won't understand why Zebulon is such a big deal. If you didn't read the end of Shadow Fire, you don't know how some of our main characters came into being. That being said, Kimber Leigh does a pretty good job of recapping the first book, but still leaves out some of the more important things such as Freya's origins and Ashlyn/Zane's relationship. I would strongly suggest reading book one before tackling this one, if for no other reason than 'because it was amazing"!
As per the characters. I will just cover the main three. I LOVED the huge cast of this novel, it got a little confusing trying to place each person where, but once I did, I fell in love with everything Kimber Leigh had done. Katarina was one of the more interesting characters of hers that I have read. She was so strong, physically and mentally, and she was so loving. Katarina suffers great loss and still finds the strength to go on a fight for what is right. She is passionate and loves just as hard as she fights. Ethan was probably my favorite character. Can you possible imagine why? No seriously. He was such a well written male character that it was hard for him to not be my favorite. He was also both strong and passionate. Ethan was also strikingly emotional and we get to see that side of him that we often don't see in YA novels. We see many of Ethan's aspirations, hobbies, and passions throughout the story, and I thought that was a great touch to making him more personable. He also loves kids. Kimber Leigh, did you write this Ethan based on me? I'm beginning to thing yes... :P When it comes to our villain Zebulon, I won't beat around the bush, this dude was creepy. He says a few crude things to Katarina that left me with chills, but he is seriously evil. Seriously. He and Delistaire are so well written. I can always appreciate a great villain!
The fantasy element of this novel was spot on. Magic, mythical creatures, lore, etc, this novel had it all. I know I mentioned this in my review for the first novel , but I love a good fantasy novel. Can't get enough of them, but sometimes, sometimes I just can't do the "high" fantasy thing. Something about everyone wielding magic, dragons, etc just all has that "too much of a video game feel for me" and I have a hard time enjoying it. When I started reading Shadow Fire, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, I have deemed this series "high fantasy", but it's unlike ANYTHING I have ever read before!
This book was an easy read that is suitable for mature-YA readers. It is a YA, but there are a few scenes of strong sexual tension, but nothing that YA readers aren't already used to reading!
There is so much I would like to continue to say about this book, but I think I will leave it at this. Kimber Leigh Wheaton has an absolutely phenomenal writing voice and I am so fortunate to have found this series. It is perfect for YA fantasy lovers who are looking for a great new read to get them out of their slumps! Clocking in at nearly 300 pages, this one isn't a light volume, but definitely worth your time investment.
All-in-all I am granting Stolen Moon, a well-deserved 4-star review! Much like its' predecessor, it was fun, fast paced, and a huge change of pace. One of the most unique and original fantasy reads I have read! Definitely save a space for this one on your TBR shelf folks!
Stolen Moon is a fun YA fantasy with lots of magic and interesting characters. This is the second book in a series, but it can easily be read as a standalone (some of the characters from the first book do make appearances, but you don’t have to know their story to enjoy this one).
The synopsis explains the book pretty well, so I’ll jump straight to my review.
What I LOVED:
Fun characters. My favorite thing about this book was the array of fun and interesting characters. Even when there were moments that I wasn’t completely enthralled in the plot of the book, I still found myself really enjoying it. Why? Because I really liked the characters that Wheaton had drawn up for me. I’ll talk about Katerina and Ethan in a moment, but first I want to mention some of the secondary characters. The band of mercenaries that Katarina ends up with is full of colorful characters – Bronwyn and Vale, who are both tough and funny and my favorites. There’s also Loki, a demigod who can turn into a wolf – and later his sister, who can turn into a bird, shows up (she’s great fun and I loved her cute relationship with one of the characters). Then there was Caleb, who is an incredibly powerful mage, but also kind of a lost kid at times – he’s a bit broken, and his relationship with all of the various people who have raised him definitely tugged at my heartstrings.
Katarina and Ethan. Insta-love aside (see my negatives), I really liked Katarina and Ethan together. Ethan was an incredibly sweet guy – he loves Katarina fiercely, but he’s also just a plain, nice upstanding guy in general (he helps take care of orphans, for instance). It’s kind of nice to see a YA love interest who isn’t a bad boy. Katarina is tough and strong, though she’s also vulnerable at times. She can easily take care of herself (and does), but she also allows Ethan to be at her side when she faces danger (he points out that she wouldn’t let him face danger alone, and she has to concede). There are lots of fun and playful moments between these two main characters and lots of chemistry too!
The magic. This series has lots of magic in it, and it was fun to see that in action! Katarina’s magic is special because it uses light, so it is the perfect weapon to use against Zebulon’s darkness. Katarina learning to use her powers was kind of amusing – her power for healing manifests itself in an interesting way, and she’s not so sure how she feels about it!
The negatives:
Insta-love. Yep, Ethan and Katarina fall in love pretty much instantly. Katarina does question their quick connection quite often, but Ethan seems to jump right in. Still, Wheaton does actually spend plenty of time developing the relationship between these two after the initial insta-love, so it didn’t feel quite as egregious as it does in some books – but it was definitely there.
Some repetitious elements. There are a few scenarios that play out a little repetitiously in the book. For instance, these characters sleep – A LOT. I’ve never seen so many sleeping scenes in a book. Because Katarina needs to rest after she uses magic and they’re on a pretty massive journey, it’s necessary for her to sleep more often than normal. Plus, I think Wheaton liked these scenes because they provided snuggling and kissing time between Ethan and Katarina – still, I started feeling like I was seeing more sleeping than action sometimes. Another repeated element was Katarina breaking down into tears in Ethan’s (or someone else’s arms). For a strong character, she sure cried a lot – and felt the need to throw herself into the arms of someone nearby.
Easily solved problems. I felt like most of the conflicts in the book were solved pretty easily when it actually came down to it. There was lots of build-up to the conflict, but the conflicts themselves were over relatively quickly (and a little too easily).
I found myself really enjoying this book all the way through, despite a few flaws. The characters are what really kept me engaged. I give this one 3.5/5 stars.
***Disclosure: This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given and all opinions are my own.***
Stolen Moon is the second book in The Light Chronicles. It is a young adult fantasy novel which can be read as a standalone. However, there are certain characters that cross over the second book.
The writing was actually a little difficult for me to read. I don't mean it in terms of legibility but the structure. It felt choppy and the sentences didn't flow quite well. Therefore, I had trouble getting into the story. It got a little better once I got used to the writing and was able to enjoy the story more.
The characters in the book were very distinct and different from each other. I liked seeing the different personalities and how they each worked well with one another. There wasn't a dull moment when the team were together. Of course, there were slight disagreements here and there, but which group of friends don't? However, I didn't really connect with them as much as I would have loved to. It was hard for me to feel for them when their situation took a worse turn.
As for the romance aspect to the book, it is probably one of my lease favourite. Most of you would probably know by now, how much of a sucker I am for romance. Despite that, I didn't like or believe their relationship. I thought it could have been executed a little better. I was rather disappointed.
For the most part, it was a rather interesting and exciting fantasy novel. There were certain parts in the storyline that could have been improved but I did like it overall. I do think you should read this book if you've read the first novel or if you love reading books filled with adventure, romance and action because it has all of it.
* I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *
Stolen Moon, by Kimber Leigh Wheaton was absolutely wonderful! Having read the first in the Light Chronicles, Shadow Fire set the bar really high, but Stolen Moon was just as thrilling a read as the first in this series.
The characters were fleshed out well and felt so real to me. I absolutely loved Katarina. I loved the concept of a woman living in the role of a man as a knight. Katarina was a super strong female lead but it wasn't too over the top. She was believable.
And Ethan, our delicious hunky swoon-worthy mercenary...he was fabulous. I loved the chemistry between Ethan and Katarina. It was tender, sweet, and intense in such a good way. Reading about their budding relationship was oh so fun to read.
I liked all the secondary characters, and the villain in this novel...Yikes. Zebulon was sinister and creepy, a great villain indeed.
All in all, Stolen Moon was packed with action, adventure and just the right amount of romance. And, the cover...what an eye-catching gorgeous cover! It sets the mood for what lies within.
I would highly recommend Stolen Moon to all lovers of YA Fantasy. Each book in this series is great as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading the first to get a feel for the world building as it's not to be missed!
Again, Kimber Leigh Wheaton, is an amazing writer and it was easy for me to get lost in the beauty of her details. The way she writes has you taking a moment to close your eyes to really appreciate what it is you're reading. The characters are easy to fall in love with, each and everyone has their own struggles to overcome making you, as the reader, appreciate them even more. A great follow-up to the first book in the series, Shadow Fire, but really I could stand on its own without even reading the first book. The only complaint I have is that the plot was very similar to Shadow Fire and I was able to guess how things would turn out, but I would read it all over again anyways because of the engaging picture the author paints for you.
Honestly my favorite character is Caleb, the young boy with magical abilities that the group saved in the first book, to see how much he has grown and the fact that Katarina is able to win him over when he rarely lets people in is heart warming. Stolen Moon takes place four years after Shadow Fire, giving you a glimpse into the lives of your favorite characters from the first book and what they are up to now. I love this series and the how well written it is and cannot wait until the next book comes out!!
Big thanks to Kimber Leigh for an ARC copy for review.
What another excellent installment in The Light Chronicles. Following Katarina on her journey was exciting, dangerous, romantic, and full of adventure. This is really a great YA fantasy novel, and I definitely recommend this series.
Just like Ashlyn in book one, Katarina is a brave and fierce young girl. Even at the darkest times in her life she showed true courage. I love the strong female characters that Kimber Leigh creates, and I must say that Katarina may be my favorite so far. Now when it came to the romance aspect for Katarina, I will say that there were a couple of guys that I thought would be a good match for her, but I am glad who she got her happy ending with. Oh and the epilogue was just right.

This was a really good read. In times where most action stories are all about the gore and violence- we have in Stolen Moon a story about young knights fighting to preserve their way of life and just to be. The main characters are in love, of course :) and they really hang onto this through the story. Nothing about this story is so over the top that you would check out. The storyline is engaging and fun, and there was never a moment that I felt anything was dropped. Katrina is a strong female lead and she shows it. She has to make some seriously hard choices between her own wants and that which will save her people. I highly suggest this book for anyone looking for an action story that really has depth. ~Dowie
Stolen Moon is the follow up companion novel to Kimber Leigh Wheaton’s amazing debut Shadow Fire and once again draws readers into a magical land of danger and romance as we meet another kick-ass heroine on a new perilous journey!
I really loved Kimber Leigh Wheaton’s debut Shadow Fire and was thrilled to discover Stolen Moon to be a great follow up. I didn’t love it quite as much as the first book, but it got really close. Well written and exciting, Stolen Moon featured a capable heroine, friendship and tones of romance—just how I like my novels!
Told through the eyes of Katarina, a Royal Knight who has just fled from the clutches of an evil sorcerer named Zebulon, Stolen Moon sees Katarina travel vast lands and dangerous domains with a bunch of mercenaries in order to return a medallion she had taken from the sorcerer in her escape to its rightful resting place. Meeting new people and making new friends, Katarina discovers unexpected secrets about herself and what she is capable of; falling in love along the way as she heads towards a final battle with Zebulon that will finally set her people free.
As the main character, Katarina was great to follow. She was intelligent and capable; able to hold her own in a world dominated by male fighters. Admittedly she was a bit too emotional at times, but considering the losses she experienced and how much she was going through, I’ll forgive her the frequent crying.
Katarina finds romance and love in the arms of Ethan, the cheeky mercenary who steals her heart in Stolen Moon. Fans of the first book may remember Ethan from Shadow Fire when then heroine Ashlyn and her comrades rescued him from the clutches of different evil sorcerer. In Stolen Moon, which is set four years after Shadow Fire, Ethan is a lot older and very much the alluring and sensual stranger who captures Katarina’s attention before her heart.
Katarina and Ethan are very sweet together and Wheaton does not disappoint with a lot of romance in Stolen Moon. Their relationship moves quickly but readers will still believe their attraction and romance as the chemistry between them is prominent and leads a lot to connecting them quickly.
I very much enjoyed the other characters in the story too. It was lovely to see Ashlyn, Zane and Tamaris reappear, if only for a brief moment and I enjoyed seeing Loki, Ethan and Caleb feature in the story. Wheaton introduces readers to a great team of mercenaries including, Vale, Bronwyn and Forde who had flavor to the story and features Caleb too, someone who was rescued with Ethan in the last book, but whom we barely got to meet. I found Caleb to be a real sweetie as a powerful mage who is a part of Ethan’s group, and considering his history and abilities, I would personally love to see a story feature him in the future too if possible.
Filled with romance, danger and adventure, Stolen Moon was a fun fantasy tale that will easy entertain and satisfy! I can only hope Kimber Leigh Wheaton decides to write a third novel!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
At first, I was concerned that I would be confused while reading this book because it is the second of the series, but I quickly realized that I had nothing to worry about. Though the series takes place in the same world with the characters vaguely connected to the characters of previous books, each story can be read as a stand-alone (however, since I didn’t read the first book, I can’t be sure). Every main character’s backstory was explained and I was never confused as to what was going on.
We start off with Katarina running away from Zebulon and his reach in order to save the kingdom. She is a strong person who has had to lose her innocence quickly because of all the dangers in her path. She’s suffered a lot at the hands of Zebulon and his accomplices, but she’s still able to get pass that and think of others before herself.
The whole story was action-packed, yet it wasn’t overwhelming. I enjoyed the various plotlines intertwined within each other. The story did feel lagging in a few scenes, mostly because there was a lot of describing—but it was still very helpful in becoming familiar with the world. I never felt it too slow, and I was always entertained.
I did, however, feel that Katarina and Ethan’s relationship came about in an unrealistically quick manner. She meets him, he meets her, and all of a sudden they’re all touchy-feely. They’re always touching, always murmuring sweet nothings without any sort of prelude to it. I felt it very unrealistic and was one of the main things that I had to overlook in order to enjoy the story.
Ethan was a very interesting character with a great backstory, though his over-protectiveness of Katarina was a bit much. That was how he was meant to come off as, and he slowly learned that she could handle herself, so there’s that.
Unfortunately for me, Lilith’s death was terribly anti-climactic. She’s supposed to be this person with a lot of power, and then all of a sudden she gets defeated. There was so much build up and I felt that it felt short. However, the book made up for that slightly with Zebulon, who put up more of a fight.
Caleb, Loki, and the gang were super entertaining to read, though sometimes Caleb seemed like he flipped between two people: the wise mage and the immature kid. I realized later this had to do with the fact he never really had a chance to grow up, but it still felt a little… disconcerting.
I am still holding out hope for Loki and Caleb to become a couple, but that’s just me ;).
I definitely recommend this book to people who want an original setting with a paranormal romance and heroes that you have no doubt will win in the end.
***I received a review copy of this book from the author through Xpresso Book Tours as part of the Stolen Moon blog tour***
As with the first book in the series, Shadow Fire, Stolen Moon was equally as captivating and will hook you in from the very first word until the very last! I loved diving back into this world of quests, evils sorcerers, mages, monsters, and so much more. This was a great story with amazing main and supporting characters, unique storyline, with the wonderful addition a lot of humor and romance thrown into the mix!
I really enjoyed reading about the supporting characters in this story. Ethan and most of his group of friends had a troublesome past, but they were still so strong, caring, and funny. It was nice reading about how caring and protective everyone was of Katerina once they started to get to know her. As for Katerina herself, she was a blend of everything that you would probably want to find in a main character given a huge and dangerous mission to accomplish. Katerina was a very strong character and took her quest seriously, but at the same time she was also very sweet, caring, and funny. The only thing however that kind of bothered me was the pacing and development of the relationships. I felt that Ethan and Katerina's relationship happened too fast, without really developing first. It was kind of like love at first sight, but nevertheless they were still great characters and their story was very sweet.
Like Shadow Fire, Stolen Moon had a pretty interesting storyline, even though technically it was very similar to that of Shadow Fire. But I guess that's expected even if Stolen Moon is a standalone novel, since the story does take place in the same world and are kind of connected to each other in some ways. This book had some action, but most of the story focused on Katerina reaching her destination and training to defeat Zebulon. Overall the pacing of this story, as well as the writing flowed pretty smoothly throughout, and made this story a very enjoyable and fun to read. I definitely loved reading this book and recommend it to anyone who is a fan of fantasy fiction with a mix of amazing humor and romance!
Stolen Moon is a young adult fantasy genre mixed with little mythology flavor. A second book of the Light Chronicles series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Katarina is a royal knight on a task to return a powerful medallion to its rightful place, which she have stolen from the evil and powerful wizard, Zebulon. Katarina travel along with a group of mercenary and her demigod protector, Loki. When Katarina encounter Ethan, the leader of the mercenary, she was instantly drawn to him and him to her. The story follows Katarina and her companions' journey which was full of obstacles and challenges. Somewhere along the journey Katarina discovered she has light magic ability, which may be part of the reason why Zebulon desired her, fear of her, since he was the one had her magic sealed.
I thought the book emphasized more on the characters rather than the task on defeating Zebulon. And the story was definitively heavy on the romance side and focused mostly on the relationships between Katarina and Ethan. The romance part was very sweet and lovely-dovey, nothing provocative. However I did feel it can be too sweet at time, and a little boring.
Overall I enjoyed reading Stolen Moon, but since this is a fantasy genre, I think I would've preferred the story focus little less on the romance and more on the fantasy genre elements. I would recommend this book for readers that are looking for a light young adult fantasy book that is fast-pace, has an interesting adventure with a sweet romance.
Ok, so I am biased because I totally fell in love with book one. And yes, this one is great too, but I miss Ashlyn and Zane :) LOL Now with that said, you can read this one without reading book one. Everything you need is done perfectly that you won't miss anything. Not that I don't think you should read book one. LOL Anyways. This one follows Kat who is now trying to find the missing relic. Her journey is no less than Ashlyn's was, maybe worse considering. But Kat meets some mercenaries along the way and she makes friends, especially Ethan. They need to find this relic to stop Zebulon.
I must say, yes there is romance, and I actually like the romance parts, they are sweet, and honest, and yet still clean, as made for young adults, but not so much that an adult would fell like they skipped over everything. But with that said I still enjoyed Kat and Ethan's relationship. And the characters are well developed and you'll love both Ethan and Kat. And you'll love to hate Zebulon.
The world building is still so awesome to me. So many fun things to see and learn about. And the writing is great! And there's still action but I found just a little bit more in the first. But this book is no less than first. The plot is thickening because things must change for their world. I have come to love this series and this writer for the adventures she takes me on. I look forward to so much more. 5 MAGICAL PAWS!!
This book follows on from Shadow Fire – the first book in the series. We meet Ashlyn and Zane once again, albeit briefly.
This story is a very sweet tale of quests and honour and love. Once again, we have a strong female lead paired with a strong Alpha male. But, there’s always a few bumps along the rutted track to happiness!
I really enjoyed this book. For me, it flowed a little more smoothly than the previous tale, though still had the same fast pace, well developed characters and locations.
Another very pleasurable read from this author.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
