Wow, if you read The Affair Book 1, then you should be blushing because of all of the heat! I’m a mega fan of Montand, he’s just a ball of sex on a stick and yes please, but I’m digressing.

I like how Emma takes care of Montand’s stepmother. She’s a good person, with a good heart and with good intentions. She did have a boyfriend and that made me feel a little nervous (you know how I feel about cheating), BUT the book is not about cheating, it’s about the relationship between Montand and Emma (we dodged that bullet didn’t we).

Montand doesn’t believe he’s a good guy, but he desires Emma badly. The steam and chemistry between Montand and Emma is off the charts good. It’s a little kinky but it doesn’t make me uncomfortable, just more interested.

More questions come to arise, like what is Montand’s past? What’s the deal with the stepmom? Very curious and it will keep you begging for more.

Overview

The Affair continues from New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery as a man’s secret leaves an innocent woman exposed, vulnerable, and desperate…

The Affair Week Two

Emma is unlike anyone he’s ever known, fresh and surprising, sweet yet intensely sensual. He knew he shouldn’t touch Emma but he’s a Montand, after all. Strong sexual appetites and selfishness run in his blood—no matter how much he’d wish otherwise…for Emma’s sake.

My Thoughts

Coming out of the first few chapters, there was a lot going on for Emma - her boyfriend and sister hooked up, she's discovered an attraction with Michael who's the dark and standoffish step-son who's paying for the care of her patient - Cristina who's on her death bed. Ok - all caught up.

So in this second installment, the questions that we're left to ponder are what will come of the sister/boyfriend hook up - and what will that mean for Emma. From what we saw in Emma's reaction - while she feels betrayed, she doesn't really care. Add on her sparks with Michael, and well - you know that it's going to be great.

So we see in these next chapters the dynamic growing between Michael and Emma. We know that he thinks he's wrong and bad for her, yet Emma really wants to see what the feelings mean. Typical to the genre - we see that they get a hint and taste of their passion, and then someone flees this time it's Michael. He puts some distance between them and leaves Emma off balance. I think that we'll begin to see something real happen here, but for now we just get a lot of chemistry that's really hot and intense.

The other bit to the story is Cristina - she seems to have a soft spot for Emma and I'd love to know more about that. I don't know that we'll get the chance though given how sick she is. I also wonder about the connection and relationship with her and her stepson. we know that they clearly don't get along or even like each other, but i'm sure there's a story there and it'll be interesting to see how and when the details come out.

So, i guess it's a wait until next Tuesday to see what comes next in week 3, and i for one have been sucked into these characters. I'm not sure about anyone else, but i'm not quite decided on what i think about Amanda and Colin and i can't wait to see what our author comes up for those two. Enjoy!

The worst thing about a serial is having to wait for the next part of the story to be released. Luckily, I was able to get this one right away because Week One ended just when it was getting really good!

Michael and Emma definitely have a strong spark between the two of them. The only problem is Michael believes she deserves better. He's dark and moody, and admits to being selfish. So what does he do....he's rude and pushes her away. It only takes a few days for him to realize his mistake and to apologize. He doesn't do relationships, but he still wants to have a sexual affair with her. It's an offer she would be crazy to refuse!

They are so hot together. It's the perfect mix of lust and sexual tension. Their night at the beach was intense! I love that they both have awakened something unexpected in the other. What I'm worried about is his past and the secrets that have been alluded to involving his stepmother. I can't wait to see where this story takes me next.

Part 2 of The Affair was quite steamy.

We get a little bit of character development. Emma's relationship with her sister Amanda is strained. You get an idea of what kind of person Emma is by the way that she handled her sister's betrayal. Rather than stomping off screaming, Emma is calm and handled the situation with grace and poise.

Micheal is fascinated by Emma. Micheal is still a bit mysterious and oh, so sexy. I love the author's descriptions of him. Yum.

This section was about 4 chapters long with a bonus chapter preview of one of the author's books.

Wow....this was a steamy read! In this installment Emma and Michael get together and start their affair. Christina delivers a message on her death bed and there are still so many questions and I can't wait to read on! We find out who Vanni is and although I had my doubts I didn't really think it was who it is! Finding out who he is opens up more questions again. SO glad the next installment is out and I don't have to wait!

This week things get hot and heavy. After Montand runs out on Emma he then makes it up to her a few days later. The sex between these two is intense and beautiful. This happens for both of them that they didn't expect. Before Emma's patient passes away things are said that leaves Emma a mess. Personally I'm not sure why she is so upset, but I'm sure it will all come out next week!

3.75 stars--I was gifted the series as a set. This is a review for the entire 8 part serial-

Innocent yet unconventional hospice nurse Emma Shore has secured a new position at The Breakers, the sprawling mansion of enigmatic and dangerously handsome racecar billionaire Michael Montand. Hired as caretaker for Montand's stepmother, Emma expects few complications. But one night, lost in the mansion's maze of corridors, she comes upon a woman and a man she can't identify engaged in a raw, naked interlude of sexual subjugation. Silently, from the shadows, Emma watches - shocked, appalled, and unnervingly aroused.

But Emma wonders... if this mysterious stranger is not Montand, then who is it? And what other surprises are in store for her? Night after sleepless night, she's considering the possibilities. And for the first time in her life, she's not going to run away from them.

~~~~
3.75 stars--THE AFFAIR is the latest contemporary, erotic romance serial by Beth Kery. Released as an eight part serial THE AFFAIR focuses on hospice nurse Emma Shore and billionaire/racecar owner /developer Michael Montand.
Told from close third person point of view, the eight part storyline follows the building relationship between Emma and Michael. Emma’s position within the Montand household has an expiry date-hired to care for Michael’s dying step mother, Emma ‘accidentally’ witnesses Michael and another woman in a BDSM scene. Both turned off and turned on, Emma will come face to face with the man who would eventually bring Emma into his world. When Emma walks in on her boyfriend of two years having sex with another woman, Emma is free to explore what it is she truly wants.
The relationship between Emma and Michael begins as employer and employee but soon develops into something more. When Michael tells Emma he doesn’t do relationships and the only thing he can offer is sex, Emma offers Michael five weeks of sex and adventure then she will walk away. Michael will soon realize that five weeks with Emma is not enough-he wants a lifetime. The sex scenes are numerous, intimate and provocative.
THE AFFAIR is also a story of family, betrayal and letting go. There are moments of heartbreaking sorrow for a man who has lost everyone that he has loved and in return was rejected by the one person who should have been there from the start. Michael’s family is the epitome of dysfunctional and in this he is a man who will not commit to something more.
The world building brings the reader onto the racecar circuit and Grand Prix tours of Europe. The secondary characters include both Emma and Michael’s extended family members, friends and frenemies. Everyone has an agenda or a connection to the past.
The writing style is simple. There is no over the top angst or anxiety as the outcome is predictable. The BDSM premise is secondary to the storyline but it does command a good portion of the story. Michael’s persona did not scream Dominant but more of a need to control the world around him. The billionaire Dom and inexperienced sub is a familiar scenario. There are no hardcore BDSM scenes, no safe words, no anxious moments or questions of consent.
THE AFFAIR is an erotic romance storyline with a happily ever after. Fans of Beth Kery will recognize her signature BDSM storyline trope and you can’t help but fall in love with her leading characters.
The Affair is the latest serial e-book by author Beth Kery. Beth is hands down one of my absolute favorite e-rom authors. She was one of the first authors I read after FSOG, and I have been a loyal follower of all of her serials – not to mention her full length novels – ever since. I was so excited to hear she had written another serial e-rom, and I was absolutely ecstatic when I was offered an ARC of the novel in advance.
So, let me just say, I finished reading The Affair last night, and I have been on a serious book hangover all day. So much so, that I haven’t been able to bring myself to start a new book – I’m going in for a re-read immediately.
Vanni and Emma are two of the most original and refreshing characters I’ve read in this genre in a very long time. The story line is creative and compelling. Not cliché or overly predictable. Even when I thought I knew where the story was headed, the author surprised me, not once, but many times over.
Ladies, we have a new book boyfriend to add to the list. Meet Vanni Montand, the brilliant and uber sexy CEO of Montand Motorworks. Vanni’s good looks aren’t the only thing sexy about him, either. His confidence, sexual prowess, self-awareness, and dedication to his family make him completely irresistible. He’s also one of the saddest heroes I’ve read recently. Oh, there were times when his arrogance frustrated me, but just about the time I was ready to shake my head, the author would cleverly weave in some more of Vanni’s back story, and my heart would squeeze for him right along with Emma’s.
Emma is an utterly refreshing heroine. She is the perfect submissive sexual partner, and exactly what Vanni needs. Her sexy innocence is unlike anything Vanni has ever experienced, but her eagerness to learn and to please, coupled with a bit of a bold streak, leaves Vanni fixated to the point of distraction. Outside the bedroom, Emma is anything but submissive. She’s intelligent, strong willed, knows her own mind, and possesses a deep existential understanding of life and death that is exactly what Vanni needs. Vanni and Emma are indisputably one of my favorite couples of 2014.
In addition to creating extraordinary characters, Beth Kery tells an extraordinary story as well. Her voice is fresh and intelligent, her challenging (at times) vocabulary, and her ability to paint a scene are brilliant. She has an incredible gift for putting the reader right in the scene along with the characters – color, texture, taste, smell and sound – she hits all the senses remarkably.
Week 4 just released today (October 7). If you haven’t been following this extraordinary love story, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!
Five (I need to read this again) stars!
Loving these books ... its like finding an awesome TV show you like and since all of these installments are out for me its like discovering it all on Netflix after the fact because there's no waiting you get to sail on through and read them all back to back ... because for me the worst part about getting into a serial is of course waiting for the next installment. Because of course they keep ending right at the climactic points and i would be dying if i had to wait.
In this installment/episode ... Week 2 Micheal and Emma get a lot closer, these two are definitely throwing out some major sparks, their chemistry is undeniable. Micheal tells Emma that he is selfish, that she deserves better. He tries to be rude and push her away, but he feels bad and sends a present and an apology. And we females we can't help it we like shiny things ... and hes HOT so she goes back for more. Micheal tells Emma upfront that he doesn't do relationships, but he wants her, so basically hes asking her to have an "affair" with him. The way Beth describes this sexy man ... who would say no to whatever offer hes putting on the table!!
"Only a selfish asshole would take advantage of you when you're this upset. I am selfish. But I don't want to be. Not with you." (SWOONY)
These two are explosive together, the sexual tension, lust, sparks, they are flying. The beach scene, as i read this at work on my lunch, had me blushing up a storm ... HOT HOT HOT!! Micheal awakens passion inside of her that she has never experienced. Emma makes him feel something aside from the dark, morose feelings that eat away at him.
Now that Cristina has reached her end and secrets are revealed ... will Emma hang around or run for the heels?!?! What exactly is Cristina sorry for ?!?!
I can't wait to find out the answers ... On to Book 3!!!
Review of all 8 books in this series
The first book sets the scene and we get to know Emma. She's a caring and responsible hospice nurse who will do what is in the best interest of her patient even if it means breaking her new clients rules. Her new client is a mystery, she deals with the manager of the house mostly, a snobby and rude woman who loves to flaunt her power. Emma's patient is a bit of a mystery too, through gossip in the house rather than fact, Emma finds out the client, Michael Montand, dislikes her patient but if that's the case why is he supporting her through her dying days? Breaking the rules applied by Montand, Emma is an accidental voyeur in a scene involving a woman and a man she doesn't recognise.
Events in Emma's personal life leave her shaken. She has been the rock supporting her sister throughout her education, always putting others first. She takes Montand up on an offer she would never normally consider and starts on an exciting affair.
Both Emma and Montand evolve through the 8 books, one realising they can't do temporary and no strings attached and the other fighting their determination to stay unattached. Even though the both parties change and they get closer, falling in love, they still felt a little detached to me. It didn't feel like the all encompassing love it was trying to be.
I did enjoy the story, the background on the two characters explained their current frames of mind well, there was a good twist with the housekeeper too.
A pleasant story spread over 8 bitesized chunks.
Book 8, the finale is out this week and I LOVED this serial THE AFFAIR! This is probably my favorite of her recent romances! Highly recommend THE AFFAIR in either the current weekly installments or when it's a full book. Review to come soon at www.bookcrack.com.
I'm a long time fan of Beth Kery (who previously wrote under the pen name Bethany Kane). This series sparks a love and enjoyment, for me, like her ONE NIGHT of PASSION series. However, unlike Kery's other two best selling ongoing series, the One Night of Passion and Because You are Mine series, BDSM appears briefly in THE AFFAIR, as a sexual factor for the hero and again later for the couple in this novella series, which I'll avoid for spoilery sake, but it's NOT a major factor in this romance, as it is often a major part in her other erotic series. I really enjoyed the unique way Kery introduced the possibility of it, but made it less a factor. The erotic scenes are 5 STAR..of which Kery is a MASTER, with kink or w/o she delivers every.time.
Really enjoying the heroine's POV (she feels more emotionally relatable than those in her NY Times best selling BDSM novels IMHO) and the hero, as well, who is rich, demanding and alpha awesome, but he comes with a developing lack of selfishness that he's surprised he possesses amidst the family turmoil/past trauma he's enduring, and it makes him one of the more likable of her heroes, much like those in her Passion series.
Well, I liked this one even more than 'book' 1 (I use that term loosely since I don't consider five chapters, a book). I liked getting to see the character growth - and what can I say, I always like it when two people get together.
But more than that, this book touched me. I am frequently annoyed when authors paint the women as beautiful and the men as overwhelmingly perfect, handsome, muscled, etc. Then I started thinking that "perfect" is all in the eye of the beholder, and reading about Emma looking at Michael, and seeing his stunningly handsome face, and the drive they took out to the beach, and how she couldn't stop looking at him, it put butterflies in my stomach and reminded me of how I felt when my husband and I started dating. I went through the same thing - feeling like he was the most handsome man, not believing he was beside me in the car, holding my hand. I remembered our drives in the early days, and constantly sneaking a peak at him. Since I had felt all those same feelings and thought all those same thoughts, I gave the author some slack for how 'perfect' Montand is.
I still enjoyed the book, seeing Emma's (albeit brief) interaction with Christina. Even discovering what I think we all knew about who Vanni is.
I'm looking forward to 'book' 3.
REVIEW:
Seriously hot romance! I love erotic romances with stong alpha males and Montand is one of the ultimate alphas. He's a powerful billionaire use to getting anything he wants and Emma is a nurse that draws his interest and fascinates him. This story was fast paced and kept me up all night reading it. I couldn't put it down. This was a well written romance filled with mystery, suspense and scorching hot romance. Beth Kery described the characters and delivered their story in such a way that made me feel their emotions and experience their story along with them. The Affair is an eight part serial that I read all at once. I recommend getting them all and reading them back to back as one story. This book is on my favorites romances of 2014 list and I really hope Beth Kery will be writing about another character in this book. I think Montand's cousin deserves his own story.
Review of Week 1 and 2
This is a serial.
Emma Shore is a hospice nurse. Her latest job takes her to the house of Michael Montand. Her patient is Michael’s stepmother and she and her stepson don’t seem to get along.
While looking for a place to do the laundry around the mansion, Emma is witness to something that changes her. Later on, she finds herself intrigued by Montand.
Week 2 goes further in their relationship. Michael and Emma seem to be unable to stay away from each other. Their chemistry was off the charts.
I liked Emma. She was a no nonsense kind a girl. She is strong despite her sister hurting her. She stands up for herself and doesn’t coward to Michael. Michael is still a mystery. He’s hiding so much. His hot and cold behavior bothers me but not enough to stop reading.
I can’t wait to read the next installment.
DAYUM!!! Emma and Montand have epic and completely volcanic chemistry. This picks up right where book 1 left off and my my my do we get an experience. The sexual tension between these two is cataclysmic. Almost as if they will die if they don't sate this undeniable hunger. Emma is reeling from the betrayal of her sister and boyfriend and she runs right into Montands arm. She quickly gets over her relationship while still struggling to forgive her sister, who in my opinion is so disgustingly selfish. To distract herself she dives head first into the care for Christina and her new affair with Montand. In the end she makes some startling discoveries and Christina does pass away. She seems terribly shaken by this new development and I can't wait to see how it plays out. This series is definitely a winner in my book.
This is the second instalment in Beth Kery’s The Affair series. To find my review of the first part click here.
The affair started at the very last gasp of part one and the kiss between Emma and her boss Michael Montland is only the prelude to a very intense and passionate night time beach sexcapade. Emma still isn’t sure if it was her boss that she accidentally played voyeur to when she hid in the first episode and there’s a bit of suspense throughout while you wonder if Michael is Vanni or not.
Emma’s client takes a turn for the worse and the emotions are heightened in this episode. I really like the writing throughout from this author and I am enjoying the undeniable passion between Emma and Michael. I was already looking forward to part 3 after reading this.
Beth Kery is really good with her descriptive writing; sometimes it's like porn in my mind. lol
I really enjoy these characters and she leaves so many questions making you want to move on to the next book to get the answers. As I have mentioned before in other reviews, my husband absolutely loves when i'm reading my sexy books... this is definitely one of them. No one ever made sex on the beach sound so amazing that I would want to do it. I mean if it's gonna be that hot who cares about sand right?
