The Vigilantes #4

The Vigilant

Rate this book
Tynan Bates always believed he had the skills to protect everyone he loved. Mission after mission proved his special forces unit was invincible. Until it wasn’t, and he lost his friend and mentor. Years later, haunted by guilt, Tynan has no desire for anything more in life than to atone for his failure.

He thought atonement came in the form of Vigilante business—righting wrongs left unpunished by the law. As it turns out, it showed up in the form of his mentor’s daughter at his front door. Along with her parole officer.

Sutton Brant has made some bad choices. If ‘trouble’ isn’t her middle name, it should be. Now, she’s under house arrest with a man fifteen years her senior. Though her vague memories didn’t prepare her for Ty’s handsome yet broody appeal.

Tasked to keep Sutton out of trouble for the next two months, Tynan is nothing if not vigilant when it comes to his duty. However, living in such close proximity with the woman who is as beautiful as she is infuriating proves more difficult than he anticipated. But when she starts asking about his scars, that’s where he draws the line… until Sutton’s past catches up with her. Tynan will do anything to keep her safe because this time, he has everything to lose.

Rebecca Sharp always loved a good love story. Let's face it, when you include a romance novel on your 8th grade summer reading list just to see if the teacher would notice (she didn't!), she was bound to give writing one of her own a go. There's really no corner of romance that she doesn't (or wouldn't) enjoy writing, except maybe aliens, much to her husband's dismay, so her large catalog features a little something for everyone. However, her love of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds makes her favorite stories to write the ones with some kind of suspense and crime solving.

When she's not writing, she's at her office treating patients, and somewhere between those two things, you'll find her wandering the globe with her husband always searching for their next adventure.

While I have enjoyed a lot of this author's books, this one was just okay for me.
Yes, there was a warning at the beginning to not read if you didn't like certain tropes, but I chose to avoid the warning and read anyway.
I just couldn't like the heroine, the hero was meh,the storyline was good, and it was good catching up with prior characters.
The introduction of a new series was intriguing, and also the teaser for Robin and Remington's story will have me reading that book.

This author always hits 😍

Immediately added this book to my 2025 favorites list! Everything about it was so good. The action, the tension, the suspense, the romance.. I’m obsessed. Genuinely, this is a 10/10.

I loved all the side characters and their loved ones! The way my jaw dropped at the end tho with all these revelations.. I’ll definitely be reading Rob’s story the second it releases. 😏

Tynan and Suttons story is…wow! This book is emotional, taboo and super steamy!

I think this is one of the steamiest books in the series and I couldn’t put it down once I started.

Tynan and Sutton have history, and it’s a complicated one. When they cross paths again both are forced to face demons and the journey through healing brings them closer and leads to something neither wanted but both needed. Their story is so beautiful and I loved every word of it.

Ohhh and let me also tell you... you are going to love LOVE this age gap romance/close proximity with Tynan and Sutton. Tynan definitely has his work cut out for him having to keep Sutton out of trouble.. she has been on house arrest, and she has no one else to turn to.... and yesss this is where all the fun begins!!!! lol. So go get that one click finger ready and go one click this bad boy. You will not be disappointed!!!

Tynan is broody in the best way and Sutton is…a fireball. Together though, they are unstoppable. One of my favorite things about them is the fact that although Tynan may dominate in the bedroom, he never stands in front of Sutton, he lets her do what she needs to do- and it’s an absolutely beautiful thing. Watching the two go through their own grief and come together is amazing. I’m not usually a Daddy kink fan- but Dr Rebecca Sharp made it work wonderfully!.

The Vigilant - The Vigilantes MC Book 4 by Dr Rebecca Sharp

Tynan and Sutton’s story was a roller coaster of a ride. A nearly fearless but vulnerable MFC, Sutton was “authoritatively defiant, offensively guarded, and defensively dishonest.” Tynan a fierce warrior, is holding on to guilt for the deaths of not only his mentor but also his best friend and team mate, and it’s left him with a deep seated need to have control and discipline over everything in his wake. The twists, turns and drama amongst the growing desires between Tynan and Sutton keep you turning the pages as this well written story unfolds. Will Sutton realize she’s worth it and accept what Tynan is offering and will Tynan finally let go of the guilt and get his girl?
Thanks to the author for the chance to read and review her work.

Tynan thought his unit was unouchable until it wasnt and headed heavy loss, including his mentor, starting a Vigilante group was his purpose but even that didn't satisfy his guilt until his mentors daughter turns up woth her parole officer at his door. The need to protect and right the wrongs of the past collide with dangerous desires, will they cross that line? Well written engaging steamy age gap desires action and more.

2.5 Stars - Unfortunately, not my favorite in this series. The daddy kink was a turnoff. It got boring because of it. I wanted more for him and his story. You could definitely tell the 18 years difference between the two of them she was too immature. Even towards the end I felt she did not understand her father who was his friend. I would have thought he would have helped her with that. The plot of what was going on was good. I did like the introduction of the new character for the new series. I also enjoyed Remington towards the end and it set up very nicely for Robyn and his story. I look forward to their store hoping it's going to be so much better than this one.

I remember reading this scene in the previous book of this series, where we see Sutton is delivered to Tynan's doorstep for violating her parole rules and now Tynan would have to act as her guardian for the time being AND I knew I wanted to read their story.

We start off right at that scene and straight off, Sutton comes across as a rebellious young lady who doesn't give an F about anyone and least of all someone who's been with her dad, who was never present in her life.

Tynan on the other hand, carries the guilt of what happened in the past with his mission and especially now that his bestie's daughter was here, he wanted to be her saviour.

I loved when these two went against each other because on one side we have a woman who's angry and is not interested in listening to anyone and on the other, we have a man who wants to do right by someone who's so young and is his responsibility but she just wouldn't even listen to him.

What was absolutely crazy was the chemistry between these two right from the start. There is this tension that was so maddening as we have forbidden vibes going on but also Tynan can't ever cross this line or even should be having these kinda feelings for his best friend's daughter at all. So it was definitely fun.

What surprised me was Sutton's hidden agenda to find her friend that's gone missing and honestly, I admired how brave and fearless this girl is where danger is concerned and when she has to save her people.
Sutton is such a daring and fierce one when it comes to her people and she goes on her own to find the missing pieces where her friend, Mara is concerned.

The story runs parallel with finding Mara and Sutton delving into dangerous things for her friend while also Tynan having his own investigation going on and it was thrilling to watch it all happening.

We also have emotional past hurts that come to the forefront but also in some twisted way, we find healing too with two different souls who have gone through their share of demons.

And then...Ms. Sharp gives us that tease near the end of the book with the number one criminal on the FBI List, Damon Remington and his wicked secret with none other than Robyn... Oh my... I can't tell you how excited I'm for their book next.♥️

I'm going to try share my thoughts without spoilers so first and foremost i can definitely recommend this book. Story carries well and we have strong willed characters.
Tynan is kinda hard ass with big heart - he considers his friends as his family. This is why it comes as no surprise that he is guilt ridden that his best friend and mentor Jon died in the warzone even if it's been years since it happened. He has huge need to protect those around him. He gets blindsided when one night suddenly Sutton, daughter of Jon's became his responsibility. Tynan is 18years older than Sutton and hadn't seen her since her fathers funeral. I liked how his thoughts were written when he realized he didn't see Sutton as a kid anymore but as a woman and his kinky side woke up.
Sutton is strong 21year old woman on a mission to find hee best friend and nothing and no one was going to stop her.

So basically I liked this story and romance. There wasn't anything really wrong with it but some aspects just kept bugging me. I liked Sutton but I was also annoyed with her. To me the way she thought about her dad was trouble some and i hoped she'd mature a little or grownduring the story but that didn't happen in my opinion. In the story we adress Tynan's feelings/thoughts about his friends, their group and vigilantes mission but we don't really adress it. I felt like it could have given him and to the story spme depth especially if like me you haven't read the previous books of the series. Side character Robyn was annoying as hell - self righteous prick - I do believe she was supposed to be syrong woman character and probably for some readers she seems that way. To me she just seemed like end justifies means as long as it her doing the decision others be damned.
Overall okay romance book, even though MC is mentioned i wouldn't call it an mc romance. Daddy kink so definitely should be aware of that It that bother you this ain't for you. Solid good read but i think we had too many things that were brushed off without details and it became a little too much about sex than about the story towards the end.

I recently finished The Vigilant, and I have to say, it was a thrilling read that kept me hooked from start to finish. This book is part of the Vigilantes series, and it beautifully blends romance and suspense in a way that really resonated with me.

One of the standout aspects of this novel for me was the character development. Tynan Bates, the former special forces operative, is such a compelling character. His struggles with guilt and the need for redemption made him relatable and layered. I found myself rooting for him as he navigated his feelings for Sutton Brant, a young woman under house arrest due to her past mistakes. Their chemistry was palpable, and I loved how their relationship unfolded amidst the tension of their circumstances.

The pacing of the plot was just right. I appreciated how Sharp took her time to build the tension as Sutton's past threatened to catch up with her. It kept me on the edge of my seat! The balance between suspenseful moments and romantic interludes felt well-executed, making it easy to stay invested in both the characters and the storyline.

Sharp’s writing style is another highlight for me. It’s engaging and fluid, making it easy to get lost in the story. Her descriptions were vivid without being overly detailed, which allowed me to visualize the settings and emotions perfectly. The dialogue felt natural and really contributed to character development, enhancing my overall reading experience.

While there were a few predictable moments typical of the romance genre, I still found The Vigilant to be a satisfying read filled with emotional stakes and well-drawn characters. For anyone who enjoys romantic suspense, I highly recommend this book! I’d give it four stars for its engaging plot, strong character dynamics, and Sharp’s effective writing style. It’s definitely worth picking up whether you’re a fan of the series or new to it!

She showed up at his place in the back of a police car. Can be our babysitter for the next six weeks or she can go to jail for a parole violation. He reluctantly takes her on in memory of her late father, his mentor. He quickly realizes she is not the little girl he once met. She is a woman on a mission, a mission she is determined to
Carry out even if it brings danger to her door step. He knows she not only needs help, she also needs discipline and he is just the man to give it to her. This has some really good character development with very complex and layered characters who are in no means cookie cutter. He is ex military, now part of a biker MC who have a whole secret life themselves. She is orphaned and on her own,
Tattooed, scrappy nd dangerous in her own right. They have strong chemistry that draws them together despite their circumstances and there is mutual pining and teasing before they give in and things get steamy. There is also a whole missing person/crime/trafficking/gang arc that runs through this story. Before they get their happily ever after they have to work their way through the danger arc. The book is part of a series but each story is its own stand alone. The story was good and complex, I felt it
Was a little long for what was necessary but it was interesting to the end. This is not a typical MC, while they did call it that,
It did not function that way and there were none of the typical trappings such as clubhouse, church, club life, ol laddies etc. so if you like that aspect of a typical MC, you don’t get that here.

Tynan Bates has a duty. He is now Sutton Brant guardian. Sutton is on her way to three strikes and if she doesn’t straighten up, she is going to jail. Sutton has been rebelling since her parents passing. Her childhood was one heartbreak after the other. Ending up in juvie to survive. But the one person she is searching for is her friend Mara. She doesn’t need anyone to help her.

I love Sutton. She is hardcore “lady deathstrike.” I want those knives she has that she wore. They sound like a cool item. Ty didn’t know what to expect when Sutton was placed at his door. He certainly didn’t know she could strike like she did. She definitely could give hold her own. The tattoos she had on her sound beautiful and embodies her soul. And I love the piercings that our guys have. We are still looking to get Belmont. This man has been a pain in the groups existence. With the Wan Chang group being a link to Mara, the story heats up. Pieces of the puzzle started to falling into place. Ty had to forgive himself about Jon and Sutton had to learn to trust again. Two broken souls needing to be healed. I have to say I was surprised. Robyn knows more then we knew. And the ending, I had a feeling. Once it was confirmed, I want to know more about Robyn and Remington.

ARC Review-Releases 1/30

Tynan has been carrying around survivors guilt after the loss of his friends years ago overseas. That guilt hits him square in the face when the daughter of his best friend and mentor shows up and is suddenly his responsibility. Sutton is a force to be reckoned with. She is completely fine doing everything on her own and is not afraid of who she needs to un-alive to get there. Now she has someone in Tynan that is looking out for her, she doesn’t know how to respond other than to possibly submit to Tynan’s need to take care of her.

This series has been building for quite awhile. It can be read as a standalone, but I think some of the storyline might get lost if you haven’t read at least one of the previous stories. There is some overarching suspense that might be difficult to follow or understand how the past is influencing this story. There is a lot of mention of this series being about a motorcycle club with vigilante justice and the MC doesn’t play as much in the storyline this time compared to the others. I could have done without this story in the series and just gone straight to Rob’s. But I love Daddy Tynan. He didn’t want to change Sutton. He only wanted to support her in her pursuit of the men who had wronged her. I loved Sutton finally having that level of support.

Tynan and Sutton

FMC: Sutton Brant (21)
MMC: Tynan Bates (39)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
Pages: 368
Tropes: Age Gap, MC Romance, Romantic Suspense, Dad’s Best Friend
Setting: Sherwood, California

Thoughts: I thought this book was done very well. The writing drew me in and I felt like the “Dad’s Best Friend” trope was very well handled. I liked both Tynan and Sutton individually and thought they worked well as a couple. Sutton was definitely not a damsel in distress and I loved that Tynan recognized it and didn’t try to change her.

Tynan had a lot of guilt when it came to Sutton. He blamed himself for her dad’s death and he felt guilty for his romantic feelings towards her. I liked that he took time to overcome those feelings of guilt when he could have easily just jumped into bed with Sutton. I also like that Sutton acknowledged his feelings and made her own counter arguments. Tynan and Sutton had a very symbiotic relationship and it really worked for them.

I thought the suspense and mystery was well done. I do feel like this book was a little bit of a set up for the big finale with Robyn’s book and I’m glad I only have to wait a few months for that. I liked the little flash forward in the epilogue and seeing what Tynan and Sutton’s relationship looked like a year later.

What a wild ride this book was!!! Rebecca tends to outdo herself every book and this one was fire!

This was the first daddy kink I’ve read and I’m not hating it. This was definitely tame for this trope and a good introduction into it. Also with an age gap of 18 years. Normally one of my lowest liked tropes but dang it was done to perfection here!!! This had all the goodies: feminine rage, “Who hurt you?”, touch her and unalive, “mine”, pet names, father’s best friend/best friend’s daughter, “let me take care of you”, hot hot hot chemistry and the spice was spicing!! I loved Sutton’s badassery and Ty’s “fight me for it” attitude. It was a constant push and pull with these two but as the walls started to crumble, these two really show you what it means to fight for what you want.

Rebecca knows I like to leave unhinged messages as I read and I always love to try and solve the mystery and boy was this a WOW moment! I caught on to the trail about halfway and put the pieces together before the big reveal and the “hell yeah” I screamed when I got it right! I can only say that the next book is going to be something else for sure and the buildup in the background over the last few books really shows through now!!

Thank you so much for the chance to ARC for you again!

Tynan is the Vigilante with the most complicated past, haunted by his guilt over his best friend's loss and trying to atone by righting the wrongs in the world one at a time through the Vigilante MC group. But as each of his friends find happiness, now he's all alone at their compound. Until Sutton is dropped at his door.
With no one left in the world who cares about her, Sutton is left in the custody of her father's best friend. She's never trusted men her whole life after they all let let down or worse, but Tynan proves over time that she can trust him as he helps her track down her missing friend.
I've followed this series from the beginning and was intrigued by Tynan's character. As the oldest of the group, he was always the protecter, but I was still a bit put off by the large age gap between him and Sutton (not exactly my favorite genre). I love how he fought his own protective instincts to let her fight her own battles though. Sutton is definitely the strongest fmc of the series! And that ending hinting at the next book with Rob...I can't wait!

It’s probably best that this series be read in order. They are interconnected; each story does have a solution however the overall storyline villain continues throughout the whole series.

Ty and Sutton take the stage in this book and if you’ve read any of the other books, you know The Vigilantes group and the guys they’ve lost. Well Sutton is the daughter of one of the men lost years prior to the group forming. Ty hadn’t seen her since she was a child so he was shocked when she showed up at his doorstep, tattoos and piercings, and with a parole officer. Now Sutton is searching for a friend and that ties in to the group or corporation they have been seeking since the first book.

Overall, I like this book and the series. I will say, it’s time to wrap it up. That’s most likely where book 5 comes in, I hope so at least. This book ventures into daddy kink, not really my thing but to each their own. There is a warning so please read that. I am curious to read about the those in the next book. You have to read to see who it is.

I think this is the darkest and spiciest book yet by Rebecca! Tynan has held tightly to the deaths of two of his closest friends who fell in battle. He hasn’t allowed himself any happiness, remaining stoic and guarded while he keeps himself busy with the Vigilantes MC and their motorcycle garage. When his friend and mentor’s daughter is dropped off by her parole officer he is shocked at his forbidden attraction to her and she doesn’t give him a second of peace.

Sutton is a young woman who has taken the teachings of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War as her spirit guide, her mantra and how she lives her life. Her tragic life has tempered her into a deadly weapon and she trusts no one.

Their forbidden attraction has both of them living on knife edge as they circle each other in a tense and unforgiving dance. Tynan is determined to protect her while resisting her, Sutton is determined to find her best friend and keep Tynan at arm’s length.

This series is addictive. Every single book she writes is so good. Action packed. ALWAYS SPICY.

This is age gap (she is his dead friends daughter), touch her and die (but also, she is such a freaking badass that if you touch her, she will kill you herself). DADDYYYYYY. Pierced MMC. And did I mention DADDYYYYY.

I love the overarching story throughout the series.

Sutton (the FMC) gets brought to Tynan (the MMC) when she violates her parole and he is tasked to keep an eye on her which proves harder than he imagines because neither one really knows what the other one is up to. He is part of a Vigilante group but she thinks he follows the law perfectly. She is on her own mission to figure out what happened to her best friend and gets mixed up in a whole drug and trafficking ring.

Finally they figure it out and are able to work together and things get SPICY. Tynan has a whole daddy kink going on and I was here for it. They are both broken but they heal each other.

I loved it

His little wasp!

Tynan is a man who feels pain, the pain of watching his friend, his brother in arms being killed when he feels that it should of been him and he still feels that he has to carry that pain for the rest of his life. His life changes the day Sutton is drop off in his lap to be her babysitter for the next six weeks.Sutton is trying to find her friend Mara who has been missing and she fears that she may be dead . Sutton doesn't like to ask for help from no one.She has learned not to trust no one. With her up bringing, no wonder she has trust issues, her mother was a dope addict, her father was away fighting a war somewheres until he was killed. She killed a man to protect her self or get raped. This story has alot of action, not boring at all,you feel like fighting right along with the gang because they are trying right the world, stop the sex trafficking, the dope and violent. Worth more than five stars and I like ending very much and the shocker for the next story in this series.

Wow this was a story I could get into and Sydney want to ever finish. Tynan and Sutton were such a great couple and so different.

When Sutton turns up at the Garage to be looked after for 6 weeks, Tynan, her father's best friend has to look after her.

I loved how fiesty Sutton was. She was stubborn, Reckless and bratty somewhat, but was also caring and broken. But it took dominant, alpha and just as stubborn Tynan to show her that she is loved and someone wants to take care of her.

These two together though make up the perfect blend. The chemistry is magnetic and passionate and their personalities were so great together.

A suspenseful read. Full of danger and drama but the best romance and steamy moments as well.

Extremely well done. I honestly didn't want it to end. A feel good ending and promises of another great book. Can't ask for more! Highly recommended!.

Making Amends . . .

Tynan Bates was left with survivor’s guilt when a mission went wrong and his mentor was killed. Tynan just can’t let go and move on from what happened. So when his mentor’s daughter, Sutton Brant, is brought to him by her parole officer for violating her parole, he accepts the responsibility of keeping her under house arrest, obviously not considering the trouble this could inevitably cause him. Between the attraction and the secrets, it won’t just be Sutton heading for trouble, as Tynan will soon be facing some difficult challenges. Can he protect her? And is there a HEA waiting for the two of them if they can survive? Or will they choose to walk away once her time has been served?

The author is one of my favorites, but kink is absolutely disgusting to me and I would appreciate a warning when it is included so that I don’t grab a copy in error. For those who don’t mind it, the rest of the storyline is done well.

This was an incredible story of two damaged souls finding love and redemption together. Tynan remembers and carries the memories of the two men lost in battle, none more so than his mentor, Jon, so when the police deliver his grown daughter to Ty for babysitting he takes this responsibility seriously. Sutton has never had anyone to count on for anything but leaving and taking care of herself so she can be stubborn. Sutton can take care of herself but Ty wants her to know she can count on him to take care of her.
This book is full of suspense, drama, chasing bad guys and falling in love in an unlikely situation. This story was a great lead in to the last book in the series showcasing Robyn and carrying the story to its conclusion. Each story can be read alone but is much better when read in order.

The Vigilant is the 4th book in The Vigilantes series of interconnected but standalone romances. Ty and Sutton's story is probably the most explicitly bloody and emotionally challenging one to date, yet also incorporates a most tender relationship: that of a Daddy Dom and his little girl. And an unlikelier and stronger lg you've never met either. My pulse was racing from the first to the last word and I had to finish this book in one go. Beside the non-stop action, there's a lot of soul-searching, tender moments and steamy sexy encounters, all leading to a HEA for the couple. But more trouble's ahead as the only female member of the club gets her story next. I can't wait!.

Oh my goodness, I will admit to being a bit leery of this book because the dad’s best friend trope is not my favorite, but I really enjoyed this one. Sutton is a barely legal brat who has lost both parents and is just trying to survive. Tynan is her dad’s best friend who is a former military hero turned vigilante. This story starts with Ty needing to protect Sutton and ends with them falling in love because he just can’t hold himself back. The story continues the thread from the previous books with the grow-tech issue and trying to get justice for Robyn. It ends with a HEA for Tynan and Sutton, but a bit of a cliffhanger for Robyn’s story. I can’t wait for the conclusion of the Vigilante’s series!.

A riveting story of loss, strength, acceptance and perseverance. There continues an over arching plot, so I do recommend reading the previous books. Tynan is a man who carries the burden of survivor’s guilt. Sutton is broken young women who has underlying vulnerability, strength, anger and lethal ways. Tynan and Sutton have hot chemistry they both try to ignore until finally it combusts. Amidst their mission focus, they find a peace within each other. A bit of daddy kink, past trauma, danger, pieces falling into place, raw emotions, twists, and tenderness lead to a heartfelt HEA. Such a great read. I look forward to the next in this series.
