McKenzie had so much going on in her chaotic world. She tried to heal herself in the most deadliest ways. It just kept getting crazier and crazier and for some reason I couldn’t put this book down. I was intrigued by what unhinged thing McKenzie would do next I enjoyed every second of this book. Keira did her thing with this one! Highly recommend!

Thank you to the author for the ARC 🤎

Keira, this book was amazing!! I decided to not read the synopsis and be surprised. That’s exactly what i got. The way Keira developed McKenzie to become this unhinged person was wow! After being done wrong and seeing there’s not much better out there, well who can blame her? To be honest i feel her. The overall plot was dope and yes Keira you got me with that twist. I literally put on my thinking cap like “what the hell now?” Didn’t see that coming. Lastly, that damn Co worker should’ve stayed in her lane.

I had the honor of receiving an ARC copy of this book.
First off, let me unbiasedly say, this author UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT! This is a literary masterpiece! The book immediately started out good from the jump! She dove right in and left me on the edge of my seat THE WHOLE TIME! I love the whole storyline and the FMC is a gangsta! The author has the chapters named and I thought that was a nice touch. This is my favorite book of the year and it’s only February!

I don’t even know where to start with Ms McKenzie & her negative influencer, Khari. The plans that were hatched for revenge simply for saying the wrong thing was mind blowing! They say honesty is always best, I’m not sure if that was the case in this story!

Discussion Questions:
1. How did you feel about the methods McKenzie used to take down her victims? Her methods blew my mind! But hey.. Kenzie’s like I’m not a regular girl so everything I do will be magnified, even murder.
2. Was Brittney's fate justified? Yes!! I’m sorry but yes!! She did wayyy too much and I didn’t feel bad for her at all. She had bad motives for even wanting her so called vigilante justice.
3. What are your thoughts on the plot twist in the therapy scene in the chapter titled, 'The Truth About Khari'? I actually figured this is what was going on, as the story continued cuz I said ain’t NO WAYYY she has a friend enabling this foolery! But our alter egos be with all the s***! But it was still exciting for it to be revealed.
4. Were there any lessons or take-a-ways from the story? YES ‼️ swipe TF left.. better yet delete all dating apps.. better yet throw the whole phone away!
5. Would you recommend The Deadliest Match? Why or why not? Yes, abso-freaking-lutely! I really enjoyed this story and was biting my nails as I was eager to know how Kenzie’s fate would turn out

Thank you to Keira N. James for a chance to read and review an advanced reader copy! Thank you to the ladies of BWW for sharing your craft and bringing us the Dating App Horror Series!

I fucking hate myself for this. As a book reviewer it's important to be honest. I think it's important to stress that reading is subjective, and I would NEVER say a book should not be read. I hate it when reviewers bash a book and suggest that those who enjoyed it are somehow flawed. Nope, never, I will always stand by saying I think all readers should try any book that they are interested in and develop their own opinion. With that said, let's go....

I gave this book 3 stars because to me that means this book met expectations. It was well written and had many strengths.

Our girl McKenzie has a lot on her plate. She's healing from a personal tragic loss and feels like her best friend is the only person who understands and has her back. After some encouragement from family, she decides to get back into the dating scene via an online app.

She's immediately triggered and decides that instead of finding true love she's going to do all the innocents in the world a favor by eliminating fuckboys. This part of the plot was golden for me. I here for it. Seeing an unhinged woman with the encouragement of her bestie plot, plan, and execute this war against fuckboys was satisfying.

The highlight for me was the introduction of Lake Lanier. This is a historical manmade lake in Georgia that was created after the decimation of a black community by the Klan. (Additional info can be found online and/or in history books) Like many other sites with deadly pasts, this lake has a haunting history. I can't tell ya'll how excited I was for the author to not only use Camp Lanier but to provide background within her story.

So where did things go downhill for me?? The story took a turn. This series features stories about deadly and/or dangerous results for the users of this dating app. I liked that in this case we had a female predator. If the author had just stuck with that storyline, it would have been Gucci.

BUT she didn't. Sadly, she introduced a subplot that involved workplace drama. I think had she written that as a separate story I would have loved it because it was wild. But combining the two it seemed messy and prolonged this novella. It deviated from the dating app theme which was a flop for me.

Now that I'm done babbling, I will say that I would read this author again. It sucks that this for me was the weakest link in the series. But not due to writing style or the book being bad. It just pushed me and my ADD to work extra hard trying to keep up and I was not here for that.

Omgggggg this was soooooooo good. I really enjoyed the whole series but THIS book was definitely my favorite. What an adventure. I didn’t know whether to love or hate McKenzie. It’s like she was a victim & a villain at the same time lol.

I want to say thank you to the author for this ARC book to review honestly. These pen sisters are absolutely amazing I mean y’all are just too good!!

McKenzie girl!! What!!! She was absolutely insane!!

Discussion questions by the author:

1. How did you feel about the methods McKenzie used to take down her victims? The girl was messy!! The second person she met up with I was screaming at her!! I felt like she was in a space of I don’t care if I get caught or anyone sees me I’m just doing what I do!

2. Was Brittney’s fate justified? Hell yeah!! We all have a Brittany in the office right? And just want to do the same as McKenzie did but in real life we can’t! Or can we?!

3. What are your thoughts on the plot twist and the therapy scene in the chapter titled the truth about Kari? Before I read this chapter I promise I was questioning mine and her sanity!! I said something is off!!

4. Were there any lessons or takeaways from the story? Lesson number 1 never hop on a dating app ever!

5. Would you recommend the deadliest match? Why or why not? Absolutely I need everyone to get every last book in this series these writers are phenomenal and this story had my mind going to hard!! I couldn’t put this book down my heart was racing at the end loved it!!

Whew!

Okay that was a heart pounding ride! I wasn’t expecting all of these emotions, but I was really in here going through it.

McKenzie was really just trying to mind her business, but when you have a friend like Khari who didn’t play about you, EVERYTHING WAS UP!

Adonis, Dante, and Quan… apart of me didn’t feel bad for them. Adonis situation had me holding my dang breath because chile… just let the button go😩

McKenzie was not the one to play with, and Brittney had it coming. People always want what ain’t there’s until they get it. 😂 I feel like her actions were justified, and she had to move how she saw fit… kinda sorta… but not really 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Soooo… Keira N. James, you can go join your pen sisters Toni Larue and Kenya Moss-Dyme in the lounge. I made sure some room temp Voss water and sour candies were added to the table for you.

Octavia Taneka Grant and Tanisha Stewart yall can put yall phone books down and join your pen sisters in the lounge. I think you’ve been punished enough. 😂

Ladies, I have immensely enjoyed this week with you all and I wish you continued success. This was an amazing project.❤️

Ms. James! Book 5, what an excellent ending to this series! So glad I signed up to be an ARC reader. Moral of the story: stay off A Dime A Dozen dating app, or any app close to it. Just stay off all the damn apps! Red flag: his name was Adonis, you shoulda known he was trouble. Red flag: being invited to a yacht on Lake Lanier, ma’am! Once you hear Lake and Lanier in the same sentence, that means hell no! This one will have you yelling at and side eyeing everybody in this book.

All the authors in this series will have your blood pressure up reading these story stories! I need a drink now… and I don’t drink.

Perfect ending of the series!

If you love a good plot twist within a plot twist, The Dating App Horror Series Book 5 delivers a juicy one—because for once, the horror ain’t coming for the victim, it’s coming from the one seeking it out. And honestly? I ate that up. Watching folks get exactly what they deserved had me grinning like the Grinch, but maybe that’s just my unhinged side talking. If you enjoy poetic justice, can’t stand a misogynistic man, and love a little murder, this book will warm your heart like a toxic ex’s car mysteriously catching fire. Perfect Valentine’s Day read for thriller lovers with a taste for karma!

If ghosting has psychotic side, this is definitely it. I don't know if it's the delusion beyond comprehension, the distorted reality of losing one's mind, or the lengths taken to get revenge that kept me on the edge of my seat! I loved every minute of it! Looking forward to the next release!

I knew it was one of my phrases that I screamed or loud while reading this book. As a intrigued historian I really became excited when I was reading about Lake Lanier (personally, I just k as the Lake was going to come alive). I would definitely recommend this book; just wanted a different ending.

Quick and Thrilling

This novel is a fast-paced thriller that delivers plenty of gruesomeness in a short span. Now, some of this plot feels predictable, but the novel makes up for it with a steady flow of intense moments. For a shorter read, it packed in some heavy horror and kept me engaged.

McKenzie is crazy

Even though she is crazy . She was still calculating. This is my first story from Kiera and this was good . I knew something was wrong with her from the beginning besides her dating habits no spoilers. Brittany was annoying so the ending was needed.

First off, Miss McKenzie was off the chain. She wasn't someone to play with. She was about her business and after everyone. Lol. She was crazy and needed healing. I highly recommend this book; you won't regret it. There are so many twists and turns.

I loved this book down. Mckenzie found an outlet for her grief, and it was a crazy one. Her bestie Khari was encouraging all her shenanigans. She was doing all her craziness but was thriving at work, which her work nemesis Brittany couldn't stand. Brittany was definitely Mckenzie's biggest hater, and she paid for it in the end. This was the first time I was rooting for the bad guy. I need more on Mckenzie

Great Read!

Wow! What an amazing end to this author collaboration!

So many things can be learned from this read, one of which is to be careful who you deal with because you never know what they may be going through.

In The Deadliest Match, we meet McKenzie, who is a character at the end of her ropes. Life has not been good to her, and when we meet her, we meet someone broken, with a desire to do to others what has been done to her. She's tired of taking it on the chin. The prey becomes the predator.

This was a great read with fast pacing and so many twists and turns that you never knew what was coming next. From Mckenzie to Khari to Brittany, each character brought a different perspective and life lesson. Sometimes, our past hurts can break us and turn us into something or someone so unrecognizable that we can no longer go back to who you were before.

I don't want to spoil it, but this is a must-read that I highly recommend. If you want a quick read with lots of thrill and great writing, this one is for you!

Say what you want but I feel the actions completely justifiable in this story. Hahahaha. The methods were well within reason and I deem the main female character heroic. My absolute favorite line comes at the end when she says you have been promoted to floor manager… the laughter was uncontrollable. The ending was chefs kiss and such a impactful closure to the series

Absolutely loved it

Keira James delivered an intense finale! 👏

McKenzie is absolutely unhinged! She joins
A Dime A Dozen dating app because she’s better at helping others conquer their own fears.
You might walk away with new fears of your own! 😳
No escape rooms for me!!

I never knew what this woman was going to do next! This was the perfect conclusion to this series, but I could read these stories for days!

The Deadliest Match

I truly enjoyed the fifth and final installment of the Dating App Horrors. The story begins with McKenize trying to recover and move on what her life. She’s hyper-focused on her career but just below the surface of the facade she’s created is a level of unhinged that no one is prepared for. I will need a follow up because the ending can’t be the end.

I’m going to include my responses to the discussion questions that is at the end of the novel.

Stop here honey. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!!

I feel like the methods McKenize used to take down her victims were smart. Smart in the sense that it’s hard to be rational when the very situation you’re deathly afraid of is happening. By feeding that discomfort McKenize is given another level of control.

I don’t think Brittney’s fate was justified. While I personally would have notified the police instead of playing with McKenize’s crazy ass, Brittney wasn’t wrong. McKenize needs to be stopped.

In the therapy scene when the twist about Khari is revealed, I will say it caught be by surprise. I thought @keriajames was going to go in a different direction with the plot. I felt like I got tricked. But in the best way possible. There are clues throughout the novel that suggest that there is some shit going on with the Khari presence but I thought something else was going to happen.

My major takeaway from this story is that if shit seems odd believe your instincts. Don’t trust a pretty face honey. Lol McKenize had these people ignoring common sense.

I would definitely recommend the novel. It feels like it could be the beginning of something wildly good.
