Leah Miller has come a long way from her ultra-religious upbringing in Wahoo, Nebraska. A graduate of Cornell, she's climbed the corporate ladder to the position of assistant general manager of The Pearl, a resort in Ocean City, Maryland. She dreams of falling in love again someday but isn't sure if her heart has healed from her last two rounds on the battlefield.

Working a private party at The Pearl, she meets party guest Captain Chris Sheldon, an Ocean City born and bred charter fisherman with a colorful past and even more colorful present. She's shocked when he tells her what kind of party it is, but she can't seem to get him out of her mind. Although there is definite chemistry between the two, their lifestyles and beliefs are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Is there any way Leah can reconcile Cap's lifestyle with her faith? Is there any way Cap can give up the lifestyle he loves for the woman who's stolen his heart?

4.5 FISH ME STARS!!!

This is my first Phoebe Alexander book and I really don't know where to start this review except that what interests me to read this book is the blurb and the title itself. It's an understatement when I say that I devoured this book because HELL!!! What the f*uck???what I read just surprised me and opened my mind in a different way.

So this story follows Leah and Cap -- two persons who lived in two different worlds and in different lifestyle who met at one of the large party at The Pearl. Leah Miller, the oldest daughter of three, a small town girl who is brought up in a religious family and community and makes a name in the big city as the Guest Experience Strategist of The Pearl; And Captain Chris Sheldon, charter fishing captain..divorced...had children....and a swinge...
(yay! there goes the colorful past and even more colorful present)..Go figure!

" God doesn't hate sex, you know, He invented sex, after all. He made us to feel pleasure, It's not a sin"

"What if he is right? What if my Good Girl and Bad Girl selves can peacefully coexist?"

Ahhhhh..this book is really perfect when you wanted to read a jaw dropping, mind boggling, panty wetting story. Right from the start you'll be hooked because of how uniquely it is written. The swinger parts..the love..the angst...the steamy hot sex scenes...wow!!!It is very descriptive and any readers could vividly imagine all the scenes..all plots..everything the author wants us to see. Other parts maybe disturbing but it's what makes the story worth reading and edgier. The chemistry and how well balance it is written is undeniable. I even can't believe I enjoyed reading the book. It's way past my comfort zone, any reader would definitely have second thoughts considering it involves a plot where the lead is a preachers kid and the other one is a swinger. Not me, the second thoughts part is vanished the moment I started reading the book much well when I devoured every line as I go through with the story.

Great job!

I had a hard time with this book, not because of the subject matter but because I could not relate to the main female character, Leah. Most of the time she drove me absolutely crazy. She just didn’t seem to be able to make up her mind about anything that didn’t have to do with her work. And, most especially she was very indecisive when it came to Cap.

I didn’t dislike the book; in fact I found the information about the “lifestyle” very interesting. And the sex was pretty darn HOT. I just wish that Leah could have been surer of herself. I realize that this story was about her journey and reconciling her upbringing with the way she wanted to live her life as an adult. And in the end, she did that. I just wish she hadn’t seemed quite so tentative along the way.

I give this book 3.75*'s.

Fisher of Men is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This book is a wonderful, interesting and informative contemporary romance that explores the world of swinging- and what happens when a minister’s daughter meets a sexy swinger.
To many, this story may seem way out of your comfort zone, but I encourage you to keep an open mind and dive in, because you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find between the covers of this beautiful story. Yes, this book does have the swinging element to it, and while that is an important part of the plot, there is so much more to this wonderful love story. I love how Ms. Alexander blended the swinging lifestyle of our leading male character, with the religious/spiritual beliefs of our leading female character; then sprinkled some emotion, curiosity, struggles, drama, acceptance, passion, erotica, and angst into the mix- and produced a fantastic, well balanced and sex-positive story that drew me in right from the get-go.
This book is nothing like I thought it would be, and was deeper, sweeter and more meaningful than I had expected.
Another great read from this superb author!

Thank you, Ms. Alexander!

I really enjoyed this book. It was beautifully written. And to think that the author wrote and edited it herself... I am in awe! The writing was flawless!

First of all, I would like to say that reading this book was me getting out of my comfort zone. Cap's lifestyle isn't what I'm used to, so like Leah, I had to wrap my mind around it. But it was beautifully presented so the reader understands and feels all of Leah's emotions.

The characters were good people and I liked them both. : ) Cap is adorable!
Even though this book is described as erotica, there actually weren't too many sex scenes, which was perfect! It was more about the romance and storyline, as it should be!
I did skip over just one scene at the end because I'm not too comfortable with reading these scenes, but that's just my own personal tastes. ; )

If you like a sweet, beautiful romance, I recommend this book. It was great!

The cover is also beautiful and the formatting is perfect! : )

A beautiful book that deserves 5 stars! : )

Interesting concept, but...

The idea of this book intrigued me. I was curious to see how someone would work through the conflict between her religion and her sexuality. But this book opened with the absolute cheesiest line I’ve ever read, and I hate to say that it didn’t improve much from there.
Leah is a very immature 27 year old. She’s not innocent, had done a lot of partying and sleeping around in college, but wanted to do better for herself. She is ambitious but still the minister’s daughter at heart.
Cap is more mature (and at 42 he should be) but he puts up with a lot from Leah. Way too much, really.
Aimee is supposed to be Leah’s best friend but the last half of the book is more judgemental and mother-ish instead of supportive friend.
Honestly, if Leah was a better character then this would have been a better book.

I have been reading this series out of order and I'm so glad to finally get to Leah and Cap's story. First of all, I read a "warning" somewhere that said "This is NOT a Christian Romance" - I appreciate whoever wrote that because in the first few pages, that's exactly what I thought I was going to be reading. (I had not read the warning before hand) There is a very strong religious "tone" in this story that, at times, had me scratching my head about where it was trying to lead me.

This is a story of conflicts. Where do one's beliefs come from and how much influence does the religion of our childhood gel with the religion of our adulthood. An interesting premise. As we follow the story from beginning to end, we see the MC allow herself to be pulled in different directions depending on who she is talking to. "I hate feeling like I am a bad Christian or a hypocrite, you know?".

I have a hard time with the characters. Initially I didn't like Leah very much. There was just something about her that rubbed me the wrong way. She was a lovely people pleaser who always put others needs before her own. She has an immaturity about her that belies her age. For someone who is so "worldly" in the ways a business runs she sure was innocent about the world. "...swingers? It seemed like a mythical construct to her like Santa Claus or Bigfoot, instead of the real thing. hahahaha Cap is a strong, domineering man that I felt was a little too strong handed and almost whiny.

While this was not my favorite book of the series, I appreciate the tale the author weaves. Perhaps if I had read this story ANY other time than October of 2018, I would have had a completely different reaction to it. Which is why I've rated it the way I did. The author does a fantastic job of telling a story that has meaning, depth and weight to it while setting up the rest of the series. Nice job!!

Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will swing you round. This is the first book in the Eastern shore swingers series, and what a series, I did this one backwards and read the other books first then came back to the beginning, so I knew what to expect, hot, heavy and full of steam. What would you do if the man you fell in love with was the opposite of everything you have been led to believe, this one will have you wondering what choice would you make, would you have a hot a life if you did? Leah overall is a great character, but she did lack something, but where she meets Cap and them together, that is just pure magic, the chemistry is off the charts hot. This series starts with a bang and just gets better. I think this series may just be my favourite by this author, and this is a very strong story in the series.

Fisher of Men is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series by Phoebe Alexander and is also the first book that I have read by this author. The blurb on the cover caught my attention and brought the book further up my “to be read” list. To say that this book took me by surprise would be an understatement. It was definitely not what I expected and not what I am normally led to read.
The story of Cap and Leah was interesting to say the least, I had heard of the alternate lifestyle that Cap leads but never really paid any attention. While not my cup of tea I can now understand the choices made a little better, kudos to Ms. Alexander on opening my eyes.
I enjoyed Cap’s character the most, he was open and honest with Leah from the beginning and was definitely the adult in their relationship. In real life, if Cap was my friend I would probably have told him to cut his losses and forget about Leah. As for Leah, for a person in her supposedly late twenties she was juvenile in her actions. Whether you agree with someone’s life choices you need to keep an open mind, especially if it’s someone you are attracted to, at the very least listen to them and talk about your concerns, all Leah seemed able to do was run away from Cap and her issues with him and his lifestyle.
I enjoyed this story for it’s unusual story line, I enjoyed Cap as the hero, I’m still not sure about Leah but that’s neither here nor there. I will probably go on the read the next book also. The only part I really didn’t enjoy was the religious rhetoric, I understand that it had to be there for us to understand Leah and her past but I personally feel like I might have enjoyed the story even more without the quotes and Leah’s “Christian” backstory.

First, this book, providing you read it in the correct manner, lays out all the double standards about sex, especially that of the church (not just one, lots of them). Close mindedness is something I don't tolerate around me, so this was a tough read for me. Second, it is not a mature book on the subject to boot.

Leah is immature, sometimes not very bright, and unfortunately, the book was written just like she is portrayed in it. Very immaturely written, considering that the book needed to step into the 24-45 age range and fell flat. Her friend, Aimee? Judgmental, bossy, pushy, and opinionated. Not at all supportive of Leah in any way, shape, or form. As I was reading I thought the whole relationship would be obvious, but no, all the way through the book Aimee didn't change.

The bible scriptures quoted just caused me to shake my head. Why? Why would you put them there. If you are trying to create irony, it didn't work. All it did was remind the reader that Leah would have those things in her head, rather than letting herself go and finding freedom with sexual activity. I can hear the prudes already when they just read that last sentence. Spare me. You're prudes, I'm not. End of story.

Overall the book was just ok. 2-1/2 stars at best. Depending upon the maturity of the reader, I'm sure it will get five star reviews. If you're looking to read sex, you came to the right place. If you are looking for erotica, meh. And if you are looking for romance, it gets overshadowed by all the rest of the action going on in the book. Thank you RWA for stating that romances have to have a happy ending. You are creating a whole mess of books that have happy ENDINGS and not very well written beginnings and middle.

Fisher of Men is part of a new series by Phoebe Alexander called East Shore Swingers, and I was initially drawn to this story because the heroine, Leah, comes from Nebraska which is close to my hometown. The religious background of Leah comes to blows with the lifestyle of our hero Cap, who leads a life full of parties and good times. Leah wants a life with Cap, having put her trust and heart with him, but their lifestyles will have to find a way to mesh to give them both the happy ending they want. I really wanted to like this book more, and I hope that the other books in this series will be better, but I just couldn’t get passed the character Leah and how childish she was about certain things. This is the first book that I have read by Alexander, and I will definitely pick up books of hers in the future but this one just wasn’t a great fit for me.

Don't even ask me why I decided to read this about once I started I wanted to stop but not being a quitter, decided to stick it out till the end.

The only reason I am giving this book 2 stars is because I actually enjoyed reading what would happen next between Leah and Chris. In my opinion, the author spends much to much time describing the decor and other details that did not impact the story line what so ever. I grew bored very quickly and started to skim through it quite a bit to get to the end.

If you prepared to stick to a book just because you love erotica, sure go ahead, but other than that, I say give this one a skip. Sorry

Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1)
By: Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars

The story Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander is a contemporary romance book. This is the story of two people whose lifestyles are vastly different finding that they have an attraction to one another. Leah Miller and Chris “Cap” Sheldon have amazing chemistry together. The one things that could stand between them is the alternative lifestyle that Cap is a part of. Can these two find a way to make their relationship work or are their differences too big to overcome? I enjoyed reading this book and found myself getting lost in the story. I didn’t want to put the book down until I had read the last page. I just had to find out if Cap and Leah are able to hold onto each other and find true happiness. Leah is a successful woman who has worked hard to get where she is. She does tend to focus on work a lot and it has affected her ability to find the right someone to share her life with. Leah is also someone who was raised in a religious household and has Christian beliefs. Those beliefs are challenged when she starts to fall for Cap as she has problems reconciling her beliefs with his lifestyle. I do like that Leah doesn’t just outright reject Cap’s lifestyle. She does try to understand and even become part of it. Cap is a man that is known for his success with women. His smile melts hearts and the heart he is now after is Leah’s. How far is Cap willing to go in order to hold onto Leah’s heart? This is the second book I have read by the author and I have found that she writes amazing story lines and creates wonderful characters. There are quite a few secondary characters in this book and I enjoyed reading about them as well. This is a book that got me to think about the alternative lifestyle that Cap is a part of and how some can be intolerant towards those who practice it. I highly recommend this book to find out if Leah and Cap have a future together. This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one. This story does have mature content and would be for those 18 years of age or older.

Book Review: Fisher of Men
Author: Phoebe Alexander
FIVE STARS
I am going to start this review with a disclaimer. This book should not be read by anyone who is a prude, who is overly sensitive about sex, or anyone under the age of 18. This is for mature readers only and not meant to be read by anyone who is not mature enough to handle adult situations especially of a sexual nature.
With that being said I ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY enjoyed this book. Phoebe Alexander has a way of putting words onto paper that make you feel like you are a true part of the story. The main characters are totally relatable and understandable. I can see myself in Leah, her desire to experiment yet her wariness in trying new things for fear of disappointing her parents. Her lack of trusting Cap due to issues she has had with previous relationships. It is my life in a book, except I haven't become brave enough to venture out into the world and open myself up.
A shocking part of this book that really caught me off guard is that each chapter is started with a Bible verse that is completely relevant to what is going on in that chapter. The religious background of Leah and the way it is hindering her from her happiness and making that choice to be with Cap without limits. I admire Leah and her ability to just go for it.
Cap is a business owner and a man that knows what he enjoys. He has declared that if he were to meet the right woman and she required it, then he would give up his "lifestyle". Leah is a Customer Service Expert and manages a hotel that just happens to be hosting the group that Cap is part of.
This story makes a few excellent points that should be priority in ALL relationships, not just relationships in this "lifestyle". The main things you should do in ALL relationships is TRUST, LOVE, and COMMUNICATE. You cannot make a relationship work without any of these.
This is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one. This is not my first read by Phoebe Alexander, but it is my first book about swingers and I am truly intrigued, if I could find my Cap, then I might be persuaded.

Fisher Of Men
(Eastern Shore Swingers Series, book one)
Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars

Fisher of Men is the first book in the stand alone Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This is the second book I’ve read in this series but I’m not new to Ms. Alexander’s work, I’ve started sampling some of her other series! I haven’t met a Phoebe Alexander book I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed yet and Fisher Of Men is no exception.
I read the third book in the Eastern Shore Series first so seeing where it all began in this book was a real treat, I recognized some names- Rhonda, Casey and of course Leah and Cap. By the end of the book I was left craving more and ready to go on with the series.
When you read the about the author segment for Phoebe Alexander it mentions that she writes sex positive, body positive stories and if you’re not familiar with her work yet, this couldn’t be more accurate. Each story I’ve read has had a captivating erotic theme while bringing a great, strong storyline along with it. Each of the characters I’ve “met” so far are strong and stand their ground. Leah was able to discover her true self whether it was in her relationship, sexuality or her faith and I think it shows true talent to have such a balanced storyline where there is no lack of entertainment in any area. So many times you read a book where a woman may not stand her ground right away and once Leah’s mind was made, it was made. In the same respect, Leah is the type of character that can keep a level head and really see things from different perspectives admitting fault when necessary. I really respected her character and look forward to seeing how she grows more throughout the series. As far as the storyline goes, the serendipity tie in this book is what truly sealed the deal for me!
My very first experience with “the lifestyle” and Phoebe Alexander’s writing was in the Juniper Court series book, Project Paradise. While this book has nothing to do with how incredible Fisher Of Men is, it opened me to a new genre of books, led me to this series, and honestly created a new fan of this author.

Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is an erotic romance novel, and the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series. The book is about a young woman named Leah Miller, who works as an Assistant Manager of a hotel in Ocean City, Maryland called The Pearl. Leah's father is a minister in Wahoo, Nebraska where Leah grew up with strict Christian values, and she was expected to follow in her parents' footsteps spreading the ministry. Instead Leah got a scholarship to Cornell and got a degree in Hotel Management. She wanted to see another part of the United States besides the Midwest, which is why she took a job in at The Pearl, which is located on the Delmarva Peninsula. Leah becomes confused about a conflict between her strict Christian values and her love life when she meets Captain “Cap” Chris Sheldon at a private party at The Pearl and soon after starts dating him. It turns out that the private party Cap was attending was a swingers' party, and he is a swinger.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt like there were so many emotional ups and downs in this story, as Leah tries to figure out what she should be doing concerning her relationship with Cap. I couldn't put the book down because I felt so invested in this story and these characters. Speaking of which, Phoebe Alexander has created some really strong characters, and also did an amazing job of describing Ocean City, Maryland, which is a location that is near and dear to my heart. I was born in Washington, DC and have lived in the area my entire life. I have spent many a summer vacation in Ocean City, and felt like I was back there while I was reading this book. I am just surprised that there are so many swingers there during the summers, and this book really opened my eyes to so many things about the swinger lifestyle! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys erotic romance novels, but keep in mind that it is definitely for readers over the age of 18.

Fisher of Men
By Phoebe Alexander
5 stars

Another fantastic story from Phoebe Alexander. I never know what to expect from her stories but I do know that they are always going to be beautifully written and have characters I will fall in love with instantly. Fisher of Men was no exception and whilst the content of this story isn’t something I usually like to read about I can’t deny that Phoebe has this amazing talent at drawing me into her stories from the very beginning. Her characters are so well thought out, the storyline flows well and the pace is incredible. I quickly became completely absorbed in Leah and Cap’s story, I think it’s definitely a story where you shouldn’t judge people’s lifestyles – everyone is entitled to live the life they see fit and whilst I personally may not want to live that lifestyle I admire the way the author has written about it. She went deeper into that lifestyle than what I thought about it and I really began to understand how that kind of relationship may work. I actually finished reading with a different view to when I started it.
I liked Leah and I could really understand her reticence, she has grown up being told one thing and it’s hard for her to accept that actually that may not be the way she wants to live her life. I loved her relationship with her friend and that they were there to support each other.
Cap was just HOT! I love a story with a more mature male lead, there’s just something a little sexier about all that experience and knowledge. He came across as a genuinely nice person and I could really feel the connection between him and Leah.
There were also some really nice secondary characters, and some not so nice! I can highly recommend this story and it way of making you think about all of the different types of relationships in society. It is beautifully written and completely deserves the 5 stars I give it.

Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers book 1)
By Phoebe Alexander

After some bad relationships and with Will breaking her heart in such a way that she didn’t know how she was going to recover, Leah decided that she was going to let God guide the man to her that she should be with. She also knew this wouldn’t happen until God knew she was ready for it.
Leah works at the Pearl Resort as she describes her work role as keeping guests and staff happy. One of Leah’s main roles is to help guests organise their functions and to ensure that all guests can have a room booked for that night. She also ensures that the guests have everything they ask for to make sure their functions go off without a hitch.
Leah gets a call from her boss Barry to say they are a bar tender down for tonight’s function and asks if she can help. Having never attended bar before she has a few nervous moments. Little does Leah know that tonight’s function is a group of swingers who raise money for charities in the area.
As the function starts Leah serves what she thinks is a handsome man with a gorgeous smile. It’s this handsome man that tells Leah that everyone at this function are swingers. During their conversation she finds out this man’s name is Chris but he goes by the name of Cap by his friends. Leah asks why Cap and he tells her it’s because he is a captain of a fishing boat. Leah can’t get Cap out of her mind and questions if God is sending her a swinger as her ideal partner.
Walking her dog Glory on the beach Leah bumps into Cap while he is walking his dog Keeper. Cap asks Leah if she would like to go for a coffee but she makes the excuse that she must go back to work.
After all what future could she have with a swinger?
And as fisherman and swinger what is it that he could possibly offer her?

Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander is a story getting past your differences to find love in the end. It will show you that when two people are so different can be open enough to learn about new things. This is not my first story by this author but like the others that I have read, this story will keep you engaged until the end. Her writing style and attention to details make the story flowing and will keep you wanting more. Her creation of characters that are connectable and true to life. This author did a great job of taking two different worlds and making them one. You will learn about two different life styles, one of swinging and the other of religion. This is the story of Leah and Cap. Leah finds her world turned upside down when she meets Cap. They feel an instant attraction for each other. She finds herself confused and being pulled into a direction she is not sure she wants to go. Will she give in and give Cap a try? She was raised in a Christian home and Cap goes against everything that she was taught to believe in. She is a character that finds herself struggling with curiosity of desire. She has so many struggles that anyone of us can connect to. I think that this makes her a stronger character. She seems to learn so much about herself. Cap is a strong man who knows who he is and what he wants. These two really do fight to be together and fight to over come the struggles. I loved both of these characters. Their story is a little different then I normally read but it really is just a sweet romance that will keep you turning pages until the last page. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens when two opposite worlds collide into one! Is there a way to find a HEA?

BRINGING TWO WORLDS TOGETHER FOR LOVE!

Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is a romance story of two people with very different lifestyles.

Leah Miller, a Guest Experience Strategist, in the hotel industry has decided to find her own way in life. Her parents were not happy about her decision to change her major and go into the hotel management because they wanted her to go into the ministry. Leah is a preacher’s daughter and a devout Christian woman. She has always been very good at her job! Leah has book a party for the ballroom and some hotel rooms for a large crowd. She is very proud of the job she has done then she finds out the secret about the guest.

Chris “Cap” Shelton lives in Ocean City, Maryland has has his own business. He meets Leah on the beach when her shoes are floating away in the tide. His dog,Keeper, retrieves them and this is where their friendship starts. Leah knows Cap is involved in a lifestyle that she is not familiar with but Leah witnesses what Cap and his friends do. Cap has not told Leah up front what his lifestyle is all about but when she questions him he is honest. Can there ever be a real relationship between Leah and Cap? Can Leah open her mind to try his lifestyle even when it is against what she has been taught all her life? You will have to read this to see!

Phoebe Alexander has written a different kind of romance story that I enjoyed reading! I Like the Bible verses that led into each chapter, it gave a new spin on things and showed how Leah was raised. Her writing made me think about the topics in the story and wonder how I would feel if I was as innocent about different lifestyle choices as Leah. I would recommend this book to anyone over 18. I can’t wait for book 2!!

Leah is conflicted between her Christian faith, her parents' path, and falling in love with Captain Chris Shelton. She left her small town in Nebraska to go to university and then to work at a hotel, a major departure from her parents' desire for her. She meets Casey who leads Casey's Group and rented a ballroom at the hotel where Leah works. However, Leah finds out that Casey is holding a swingers party at the hotel as well as finding out that Chris is a swinger too. Then there was the issue of Cap being much older than her at 42 while Leah is 27. And Leah is dead set against having a baby ever despite her friend having one.

It is a sexy, explicit romance about swingers as well as finding a way to make peace with her faith and upbringing in order to find true love and a life that meets her needs. I enjoyed reading about Aimee, her friend who is married and pregnant. Captain has his own reasons for becoming a swinger and plans for Leah that cause her doubts to arise. Then he offers her a job opportunity that she feels conflicted about taking. Then there was also the major incident that causes her to question her relationship.

This was a romance, a sexy swinger story, and about whether her faith and her desires can be reconciled. All of this made for an absorbing, titillating, and sexy story. I was not into the swinging part of it, though I would be less judgmental of the lifestyle now that I have read a couple of books by this author about it, but I found Leah's dilemma and her embracing of her faith as a way to make up for her past to be relatable.

It is not a Christian fiction novel if you are expecting a clean romance and a Christian couple.

This can be read as a standalone, and it is currently a free ebook.

Fisher of Men (The Eastern Shore Swingers #1) by Phoebe Alexander was a hot, steamy read that was fun as hell to read.

Not my first read by this author or in this series. They read as stand-a-longe, so no worries about reading them out of order, which, I have been doing. What can I say, I don't like to conform.. ahaha. just kidding, or am I.. okay this book got me all in a weird mood, and frankly, I got all these good feels going on, and I'm going to unleash them on you.

I have to say, to finally read the first book, was nice, because a series has to start somewhere. It's always a treat to read about the start and how things came to be, and when you meet the characters in other books, reading their origin story makes it all the more fun and juicy. This book really sets the stage for the rest of this series and reading about Leah, and how much she changed, was something else.

Man oh man, this book is, wow. I mean, you need to go into this series with a open mind, but this book. Wow. I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner. Oh why am I all up in arms about this book.. well my friends, I'm not going to tell you cause there is just so much that needs to be experance for the first time, that telling you anything will ruin that delightful experience. I will say that you will love the easy writing style, the smooth transition and the hot, steamy smut that will cure your toes and have you reaching for a cold drink.

Overall this book/series is a must read. It will tear you out of your comfort zone, much like Leah, and have you wanting more. This book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.... so common read it, you might just like it...

Happy Reading

WOW!! What can I say about Fisher Of Men by Phoebe Alexander? Fisher Of Men is the first book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series and what an opener to the series it is. This book is on fire it’s that hot.
Fisher Of Men tells us the story of Chris ‘Cap’ Sheldon and Leah Miller. Chris and Leah couldn’t be any more different it they tried. 27 year old Leah had a very strict religious upbringing in Nebraska, being the daughter of a minister. She has very firm religious beliefs. She is now working as a manager in an upscale hotel ‘The Pearl’ in Ocean City. It is while working at a charity event in the hotel that she first meets Cap. Cap is a 42 year old, divorcee who runs a fishing business. Leah discovers that Cap and all those attending the charity event are swingers. As much as she’s attracted to Cap (who can’t love his amazing blue eyes and dimples?) swinging goes against everything that she believes in.
What follows is a beautifully written story of Leah’s sexual awakening. We can really see her struggles with her religious beliefs and by how turned on and exhilarated she feels by watching and participating in sexual encounters with several people at a time. It also shows us how 2 people with such different backgrounds and beliefs can overcome everything to find true love.
I must add that this book is definitely for a mature audience due to the sexually explicit content. I have to say that the sex scenes in this book were hotter than anything I’ve ever read.
This isn’t the first time I’ve read work by this author and I have to say that I’m becoming a huge fan. If this first book in the series is anything to go by then I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I already have books 2 & 3 waiting on my kindle for me to dive into.

Fisher Of Men by Phoebe Alexander is book 1 of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series and where it all begins. Leah Miller was the Guest Experience Strategist at The Pearl. She pretty much ran the show. One night she had to fill in for as a bartender for a party in a private room that was booked. Life as she knew it changed on that day when she met Captain Chris Sheldon also know as Cap to all his friends. Leah only spoke with him for a little bit but, couldn’t seem to get him off her mind. She wasn’t exactly sure what kind of party she was bartending for. All she knew was the party was booked under Casey’s Group.

Leah and Cap end up seeing a lot of each other since Casey’s Group ended up booking a few parties at the Pearl. Also, Leah and Cap both had dogs they liked to walk on the beach. One day while Leah was there she ran into Cap. He was quite persistent. She finally agreed to go on a date with him. She was the furthest thing from a swinger though. Her dad was part of the church and Leah was expected to go to church every week and hopefully meet a nice young man. Not a swinger who had children only a few years younger then her.

This book had a lot of back and forth. Leah was falling for Cap but, she couldn’t picture herself going to swinger parties. She ended up going to party on New Year’s Eve where things had changed.

Can a sweet innocent vanilla woman actually
be able to win the heart of man who is a bit older and much more experienced?

I thought this book was well written. I didn’t really care much for the character of Leah. I understand she was in a position she never thought she would be in but, she flipped back and forth so much. Cannot wait to read the next book!

5 out of 5 stars
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series which is an erotica romance novel. Normally I wouldn’t have chosen this book but after reading the synopsis I was intrigued and had to read it! I was not disappointed and I am so glad that i stepped out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed the story line as it kept you hooked from page one and feels like you are right there in the story. This was a fun book to read and I got attached to it especially with all the characters. Leah was a character most can relate to and I liked how Phoebe wrote about her daily struggles. She works at a hotel and her goal is to make everyone happy which she seems to be good at. Another thing I love about Leah is that she doesn’t judge right away. After being heartbroken she decides to ward off men but when Chris Sheldon walks into her life it has her questioning things. Chris or Cap walks into her life when she is asked to cover for someone for a private party. Who would have known that party would introduce her to the life of swingers? Cap is a swinger and he has that smile that melts hearts and keeps women coming. He wants to win over Leah but will they be able to date and stay together? She does give his swinger lifestyle a shot even if she doesn’t want to join in. There are tons of twists in this book that you won’t expect. This is a very well written book and I highly recommend this book to everyone especially if it’s one you normally wouldn’t read. This story does have mature content and would be for those 18 years of age or older.

Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander

4 Stars

This is my first book by this author and will not be my last. This story was written very well and had somewhat of a smooth flow. I guess if I had any issue with the writing it would only be that there was quite a few paragraphs that were completely descriptive of the surroundings or thoughts that interrupted a conversation. I personally don't need all that in a book, but I know a lot of people like to get the feel of the surroundings while reading. Although it was written very well, I found myself skipping over those paragraphs. This is just personal preference and takes nothing away from the beautiful writing style of this author.

I loved the characters. I felt Cap and Leah were both described in a way that didn't leave you wondering who they were. Cap lives a lifestyle that I have no understanding of and although I loved him for the man he was, I didn't like the lifestyle choice, again just personal preference. Leah I could understand a lot more as I wasn't raised the same way, but my beliefs are pretty much the same. I could definitely understand the battles she had going on inside herself. I knew what I wanted to happen at the end of this book early on and although it didn't happen exactly the way I wanted it to, it was enough to make me want to read the next in the series.

I really can't wait to check out the rest of her books, this book dealt with something I don't understand or agree with, but to me it says a lot about an author’s talent that these few things I wasn't crazy about still has me adding her to my authors to follow list.

Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series and is the first book that I have read by her. Phoebe did a good job of writing an interesting story on an alternate lifestyle. Her attention to details and her writing style makes it easy to read and keeps the story flowing and will keep you engaged until the end.

Leah is a professional and knows how to get the job done. You need something, she’s got it. Want something a little different, she’s on it. But when it comes to men and dating, nope, not so much. Leah is also frustrating, to the point at times, that you want to smack some sense into her but she is also funny and very entertaining. If only she would stop running. I found her to be a bit childish given her age and reaction to things but I guess that could be attributed to her upbringing.

Cap is easy on the eye and when he spots the beautiful Leah he starts to think what if’s. However, will his lifestyle scare her off? Will she be open to what he wants to share? Will he be able to give up what he enjoys and keep her too? Will her upbringing cause trouble in paradise?

The storyline kept me on edge trying to guess what was going to happen next. Love is never easy but especially so when alternate lifestyles come into play but keeping an open mind and communication should make it easy right? If you like something a little different than your normal romance and something a little taboo, then this is the story for you, it was a very interesting read.

Let me start this review by saying that if you want to read Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander, then you should be willing to step outside the box. No literally. I love her and follow her on social media. So trust me when I say that the woman speaks her mind, she so totally does.

With that being said, I loved reading this book. I loved the uniqueness of it. And how comfortable I felt reading it.

We get to meet beautiful, sweet and innocent Leah Miller, who was raised in a very religious family and community. Where she’s basically sheltered, and her believes are what she relies on to carry her through this thing called life.

Then we meet Captain Chris Sheldon – who is essentially the exact opposite of what Leah is. And by happenstance, they meet. And there is absolute chemistry there, but there is always that hesitancy that she was taught he’s everything that she shouldn’t even consider.

What we get with this book is the journey that Leah has to take as an individual, and she has to learn to make decisions for herself. She has to learn to balance her life and what she deems is important. And as for Cap, well he has to learn to give a little. And make decisions as well if what he truly wants is a chance with Leah.

Their journey is a beautiful one – albeit of their life choices. I mean, whatever rocks your boat!! But despite everything that stand in their way – I love them individually and together! Needless to say that this was a 5 Star Review for me! So thank you beautiful Phoebe for this wonderful and different book!

Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars

I do not give out a lot of 5 stars. A book must really touch my soul, be incredibly well written, and/or have an a major impact on me to get 5 stars from me. This book has more than earned the 5 stars. Fisher of Men is an erotic romance novel and this first in this series and it came crashing through the front door. Leah Miller, daughter of a Preacher Man (Praise Be to Aretha) was raised in a very conservative, Christian household. I would almost call it claustrophobic with its rules and regulations. But instead of following in the parent chosen life, she branched out into Hotel Management and took a job on the East Coast with a hotel called, The Pearl, where she figured she would learn about how the rest of the world live. There she meets and falls for a man aptly named Cap, or Capt Chris Sheldon, who, after attending one of the famous parties hosted by The Pearl, she learns...is a swinger.

This plot, while extreme, has some very relatable characters. Leah and Chris are both very loveable and extreme fun. Chris is super hot. I pictured a Chris Hemsworth look alike in my head, but I also can admit to a small obsession with the Aussie. Ms Alexander has done an incredible job keeping the reader engaged, yet not rushing the story. Her book is both complex, yet delicate in its simplicity that it is a love story. This book is highly recommended for readers of romance, erotic stories and just fans of Phoebe Alexander.

I actually read the second book in this series before I read the first book. I will say I loved both. Normally when you hear a book has to do with sex clubs and swingers then 99.9% of the book is strictly sex but these, while having sex scenes, have more with emotions than anything. This is what I love most about this series. They deal with the characters on an emotional level rather than everyone having sex and somewhere in there they find their HEA.

We meet Leah, she grew up in a strict religious household so she likes to live her life on the straight and narrow. She works in the hotel industry and there is a group that wants to do an event at the resort she works at. This group is actually a swinger group in disguise. Her eyes open up to a new world and a new man we know as Cap.

Cap is a divorced man with 2 kids. He’s active in the swinger community but he is willing to leave it for the right woman. His sights set on Leah but she has a difficult time trying to figure out whether she fits into this community while her religious side says she doesn’t.

This book deals with the emotional side of acceptance. Can Leah accept the swinger community in her life? Can she partake and accept this as something she wants? Seriously, I loved that this book asked the hard questions and just didn’t jump to the sex. This series takes us on the emotional ride of the swinger community and asks the questions that aren’t easily answered. This whole series gets 5 stars from me!
