Let’s start with the obligatory “I’m so in love with this series” because seriously, I’m so in love with this series. As Fin gets closer to leaving he and Marisol try to make the most of their time together. The last Episode left off with Marisol asking Fin if they could have sex face-to-face. That sounds like a fairly mild request to probably anyone besides Fin, but if you’ve been reading the serial you’d know how this simple action would be terrifying to him.
Watching Fin try to fight his demons to be with Marisol makes me love him so much more. It’s crazy to think having sex in the missionary position could be so frightening to someone, but with all of Fin’s fucked up past nothing should be surprising. Speaking of his screwed up past, Marisol gets to see first hand how overwhelming Fin’s father can be when she surprises Fin at his office. Even though she sees Mr. Herald for a short amount of time the unease she feels suggests we’ll be seeing more of him in the future . . . and it won’t be good.
As with the previous Episodes the dark, uncomfortable moments are evened out by hilarious moments of genius. One of my favorite scenes was when Fin and Marisol pretend to have a blasé conversation about bondage, in an upscale restaurant, to screw with a woman obviously trying to listen in on their conversation. It’s the way Cameron weaves these light moments in with Fin’s dark past that have made me obsessed with this series.
As the Episode ends Fin still stands by his decision to not want Marisol at the airport when he leaves. Although it hurts her, Marisol understands. Their goodbye leaves me wondering how the next Episode will play out. It also gives me a bad feeling that something terrible is going to happen. Deep Surrendering 5 can’t get here fast enough!
He brushes a thumb across my lips. “I want to kiss you.”
“Then kiss me.”
He shook his head. “It would be a goodbye kiss. Those always taste of bitterness. I want to savor last night. It was pure. That’s what I want to take with me.”
