Speaking up for those who are unable to cry for help is a job that Rockford Vaughn takes very seriously. Along with his team at the Atlanta Animal Rescue Association, he takes on cases of animal abuse and neglect of every shape and size, working tirelessly to bring an end to the suffering. So when Roc gets word that a notorious fight ring is operating on his turf, he makes it his personal mission to take the individuals responsible down. However, what he finds tucked away in a dark corner of the suspect’s compound leaves him stunned, forcing him to make promises he’s not sure he can even keep.

Luck is a foreign word to Avery Douglas. Life has been nothing but one disappointment after another until she meets the one man she’s certain can make her dreams come true. But slowly, that dream morphs into a morbid nightmare as she finds herself caught up in the horrifying underworld of dog fighting against her will. Trapped and giving up on life, she’s given a sliver of hope when a kindhearted man shows up unexpectedly, promising to save her from the living hell she’s endured.

Getting her out alive is hardly the end of their troubles, though. When one steals what Vigo Torinez has claimed as his property, he will stop at nothing to take it back. Now it’s not a matter of if he will return…it’s when. Can Roc find Vigo, before he finds Avery?
The clock is ticking…

Amazing debut release! I'll definitely buy Audra's work again. Complex characters, action, heat, suspense, and a great storyline will keep you hooked till the last page. Can't wait for more in the series :)

I have followed Audra Carusso for a while now, first through her writing as Indigo Sin and now as Audra. I have eagerly anticipated a full length novel from this talented author and I was not disappointed!
Rockford “Roc” is ex-military and runs an animal rescue organization. When he gathers evidence of a huge dog fighting ring, he discovers Avery captive. Along with federal agents, freeing Avery and saving as many dogs as he can, Roc decides to take Avery home with him so she can recover from her ordeal. The two get to know each other while the monster behind the ring wants Avery back. Twists and turns follow, in what seems like fiction that can really happen.
What great characters! I enjoyed getting to know Roc and Avery. Their circumstances put them together, but staying together while cultivating first a friendship was wonderful to witness. Let’s not forget the secondary characters. A strong foundation has already been built for future books in this series. I’m looking forward to more.
Roc Solid is a story with heart! The horrific sadness of what happens to these animals is heartbreaking. The people who save and care for them are heroes. Audra pulls it all together for a lovely story showing that for all that is bad in the world… there is more good.
Great story telling, relatable characters, edge of your seat suspense and cuddly puppies… Great combination!
