“the hardest part about falling apart
isn’t picking up the pieces after it all.
it’s understanding that they fell,
and you should leave them there to make room for the new pieces of you
that will grow in their place.”

Where are my highlights, Goodreads??

I loved this.
I'm taking a star off with great pain, ONLY because I wish this was in a different order. Like one was about love, one was about grief, one was about friends, one was about feeling lost, and then back again? I feel like connecting themes could have been grouped as a section.

I GOT IT AND I'M SO EXCITED (yes, for a poetry book, who even am I?)

I have not read the book yet, because it will not be released until september 30th.
Still, someone gave it 2 stars.
It’s Joey Kidney, people. It cannot be 2 stars.
Therefore, here is my 5-star review. I’ll change it into a proper review after I’ve read it.

This book clearly wasn’t meant for me, I know your not supposed to read this in one go but the “reminders” are just so stupid, I had to get this shit over with as fast as I could.

Ever since 2017, I was already of hugee fan of Joey Kidney from his YouTube and finally had the chance to read his other poetry book just last two years ago so I was absolutely hyped to find out he wrote another great book!!
I read this throughout the entirety of this book and it was amazing and truly inspiring!! I want to reread this book over and over again…

this collection of poems offers support to readers in a way that feels both relatable and deeply impactful, almost like a big ol’ warm hug from a loved one.

It’s filled with words that are genuine, heartfelt, and reassuring; the kind of words you can revisit anytime you need or reread over and over and over again (like I did lol).

Each poem in this book is a sweet gentle reminder that the world can be chaotic, unpredictable, and overwhelming at times. But Joey’s words throughout each poem brings grounding truths to that. He reminds us, as readers, that we have the capacity to hold on to hope and that we are seen, loved, heard, needed, and enough, just anyone else and just as we are.

This could be read all at one, at random, or part of your daily self-care devotional routine. Yet, regardless of how you read , this book will still be amazing and inspiring!!

Just Remember by Joey Kidney (a Canadian author I’m happy to support!) is a book I had been eagerly waiting to read — and it did not disappoint! It’s a book I know I’ll return to again and again.

This collection of poetry offers support to readers in a way that feels both relatable and deeply meaningful, no matter what stage of life they’re in. It’s filled with words that are genuine, heartfelt, and reassuring — the kind of words you can revisit anytime you need them.

Each poem is a gentle reminder. The world can be chaotic, unpredictable, and overwhelming — I think we can all agree on that. But Joey’s poems bring grounding truths in the midst of it all. He reminds us that we have the capacity to hold on to hope — and that we are seen, loved, needed, and enough, just as we are.

This is one of the poems that resonated with me most deeply:
“just remember
you’re not the first to feel nervous,
you’re not the first to feel heartbroken,
you’re not the first for anything.
and as unique as your experience may seem,
there is someone out there who understands.
it’s what makes this world feel a little less lonely.”

I’d give this 3.5 stars! Quick and easy read of daily reminders and things to remember, talks about love and breakups and heartaches. It’s a good read but the poems aren’t super deep. There’s a few that hit harder than the rest, and poetry is subjective to everyone. I didn’t hate it and would read his other books, but it just wasn’t my favourite poetry compared to other collections I’ve read!

i will say that i read it all at once which was not recommended so take this review with a grain of salt. some of the poems felt repetitive. a lot of the poems were too direct and used plain wording. it read like a self help book because of how instructional it felt. there were only a few poems that i actually liked. all the poems were things i have heard before. nothing that made me think and truly reflect. maybe it is because i am mad at a man right now but it was like a man thought he was the first person to discover feelings and wanted to share it with the rest of the world thinking no one else has already had these thoughts before. i am being really harsh right now but some of the poems were pretty good just nothing new.
