Hades and Persephone's love-struck misadventures continue in the second volume of this Greek tale-turned-relatable romantic comedy as seen on Webtoons!
Nothing says "opposites attract" like a Life Goddess and the King of the Dead - and after their truly Olympian meet-cute, who could blame Hades and Persephone for wanting a little time alone together? A night of exploring the Underworld brings them closer together, and it's all harmless flirting and long walks along the River Styx...until it turns out that Persephone can't leave, magically blocked from exiting the realm of the dead. It's as big a puzzle to her as it is to her antisocial new beau, but she and Hades will have to solve the mysterious imprisonment fast, because Persephone's absence has not gone unnoticed.
In the mortal world and above, Persephone's mother, Demeter, sets out on a justified rampage of maternal aggression, determined to locate her missing daughter. The gods love their drama - but if they don't tread carefully, what starts as a simple misunderstanding may lead to the world as they know it- flipped upside down.
I just love it, the illustration is absolutely gorgeous and I am thrilled that Hestia and Hecate had a larger part in this volume, they have my whole heart~
Lots of exposition in this one... It dragged for me. I still love the art style, but I wish there'd been more focus on Persephone and Hades together.
Also, slight publication issue: on one of the pages, when the nymphs are telling Demeter about Zeus and Hades at Olympus, there is a big red box that reads: "Need full layered art to make 100k letters." Methinks someone missed that in the final proofread.
I'll round my rating up to 4- I really hope the next installment comes out sooner.
I love a good Hades & Persephone retelling. This one is criminally underrated! It runs circles around the Lore Olympus series, and the art is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy Greek mythology!
Not an overly innovative or creative take on the myth but yeah that's definitely a guy who wears banker clothes even on his day off; just wants the system to run smoothly, take his three headed dog on walks on his lunch break, and go home to his solar punk wife—
The whole Persephone-can't-leave-the-underworld concept is genuis and oh my goodness Demeter..... I can't STAND her my gosh talk about helicopter parent.... the fact that she didn't teach Persephone to turn into her true form....🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
But nonetheless, the Hades X Persephone panels SLAPPED as always and I NEEDDDDDD MORE OF THEM PLEASEEEEEEEEE
Hades and Persephone are so cute!!! I loved the art and character design, but the only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that it’s too short. I loved the story, too. I think the art is slightly better here than in the first volume, and Hades here is ADORABLEEEEE!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. I also liked the concept of Persephone wondering if Hades actually loved her or if it was just a little play her mother had arranged to teach her the dangers of the underworld, and I liked the concept of the Styx oath Hades made. In conclusion, I loved it.

Reading Punderworld is always the dose of dopamine I need. The characters continue to develop and have authentic interactions with each other many of which are humorous. I just love both Hades and Persephone and can't wait to see their romance develop! The art is so beautiful and intricate which makes it quite a visual treat as well. Fair warning - this volume does end on a cliffhanger that leaves me quite sad I won't see a new volume for awhile. I simply can't recommend this comic enough (even to people who don't normally read comics)!
I don’t know what it was, but this volume of Punderworld felt really slow in pacing, also plot: nothing really happened. Also, I was really freaked out by seeing Cerberus without the hind legs of a dog, instead being like the black tentacles. I think I’ll soft DNF this series for now, just because of how long it took for this volume to come out and when the author has said they aren’t focusing on their other series.
The continuation was great! I actually read the web comic instead of it in print (hope that counts as reading). The author introduced the other gods very well. I never even heard of some of them (ex. Hestia, Styx, Eos, etc). I like how each god and goddess play as a role to the story instead of just as fillers. Can’t wait for the next sequel.
It's so interesting how Linda Šejić is taking the elements of Hades and Persephone's myth and using them in this story.
The character designs are perfect, especially Hecate and Hestia. Loved their depictions here. Hecate is one of my favorite characters from mythology and I enjoy seeing the ways various authors and artist decide to take her character.
Maybe I didn't like this as much as the first volume because there were too many characters taking up space...? I definitely want more Hades/Persephone focus, but there are hordes of characters in Greek mythology so I get it. I get it, but I don't have to like it.
This was freaking amazing! I'm so glad she is continuing with the series. Very different than Lore Olympus. In this volume, Persephone is still in the underworld with Hades, getting to know him. Her mom is going crazy looking for her. Towards the ending was where things go crazy and now I just need volume 3 to come out!!
The first two volumes are pretty much prep and setup so this rating may be more of an anticipation rating. I think this series is funny and adorable, and I really did the art style so even if it takes another five years, I'll be here for volume 3. (Please don't take another five years...)
I definitely should've re-read volume 1 as it's been 5 years! It felt like we didn't get as much Hades and Persephone as I would've liked; there was a lot of focus on side characters building up the coming plot. Hopefully the next volumes will come quickly
I like the art. Hades and Persephone are adorable, but once again Persephone as a life goddess rather than a Chthonic goddess. And Demeter as overly protective bad parent.
