Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

EN Mark continues to struggle with his Viltrumite nature. What happened with his father still haunts him, and he is determined not to become like him.

When his father returns to Earth alongside Allen the Alien, they ask for his help in the war against the Viltrumites.

I started watching the tv show before reading the comics, and once I finished it I wanted to pick up where it left off in the comics (I would have started at the beginning, except that I’m broke). I’d say if you’re coming from the show, there are subtle differences and a few of the characters look really different, but it is pretty easy to follow and I didn’t notice any plot points that didn’t align with the show.
This was the perfect place to pick back up with the story, and a lot happens. I absolutely love Allen, so the first half of this book was such a fun read. Definitely a lighter tone in the first half, and gets darker in the second half as Mark struggles with his sense of self and questions whether his actions align with his morals. The ending has made me super excited to continue following the story, and it did a good job of building anticipation without leaving me feeling stranded or lost in the story.

After the horrifying previous part, we seem to get a lighter one, or is it…?

Finally Mark is getting into his senses, but is it too late? This deals well with the ”feeling guilty” stuff, trying to balance with that while there are new threats while the older ones never even left. This feels lighter than book 11, but it has the samount of heaviness. It feels lighter, because there is that nice little adventure with Mark’s father and Allen the Alien, this breaths more. I have no idea what has happened, but as in previous book, this has overly sexy poses as well which are unnecessary here too. This is not that kind of story, could you please leave those out. They even feel clunky here.

I need to be careful reading these now because this softcover almost goes up to where I am in the show. I’m still enjoying reading these as soft covers even though they are not many issues at a time. The story is still great and I’m invested

After Conquest is finally defeated, the world is in even worse shape.

Elsewhere, Allen the Alien and Omni-Man prepare for the Viltrumite War.

Invincible: still a ton of fun!
