Welcome back to the Grave-Digger's cemetery on the edge of the endless, black ABYSS that awaits us all. . . . Some sooner than others! Every tombstone tells a tale. . . . These are your EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS! From the immortal EC Comics, all-new stories of fatalistic spectacle—told with wanton disregard for moral standards or public decency by masters of splatter de Chris Condon (That Texas Blood), Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), Corinna Bechko (Invisible Republic), Jonathan Case (Green River Killer), Jay Stephens (Dwellings), Kano (Gotham Central), Leomacs (Rogues) Matt Kindt (BRZKRKR), and many more surprise guests inscribing moribund epitaphs is so much funerary stone! Collecting Epitaphs from the Abyss #5-8.
A good horror anthology. Putting the EC title on it raises expectations, but it wouldn't sell nearly as well with the EC initials. Overall one of the better horror comic anthologies I've read.
Just finished Epitaphs from the Abyss Vol. 2 — every bit as fun and twisted as the first volume. A great mix of stories, all dripping with that signature EC-style horror flair. Matthew Rosenberg’s stories really stood out here — dark, sharp, and full of personality. A thoroughly enjoyable anthology all around. If you’re into EC, this is an absolute blast… especially this time of year. 💀📚
3.5 Stars. I don't feel like this Volume was as strong as the first one, but still good. Highlights (Lessons to be learned!): Forever Home - Losing a loved one is very hard. Don't live by yourself after...
Some Things You Lose, Some You Give Away - A touching tale about a man who is discovering another world that is all around him.
All New You - Plastic surgery can do so much, but if you don't recognize the person....
How Was Your Day? - "Your day can always be worse" is a well learned lesson.
Writer's Block - Stealing others ideas is very wrong, especially when you give too many details.
Triggers - A gun show and a zombie con collide.
Prohibition - Some old barrels shouldn't be opened EVER.
A Splice of the Action - Never steal the ideas of a vengeful woman!
Black Gold Cemetery - A serial killer discovers oil on his property. The cops discover much more.
Yellow Smoke - When someone says they hear noises in the house, maybe you should believe them.
The Honking - Clown painting are known as always creepy for a reason.
The Main Character - Guilt is a very powerful thing.
Looking forward to more of these. Need to get back to more horror comics. Recommend.
I gave it the full 12 issues and read the other ONI press EC anthologies but there’s barely a decent strip amoung them
Better curation of writing talent required and an actual editor who is able to keep them on track when it’s not working rather than someone cosplaying as an editor
The hit ratio on these comics is abysmal. The best you can hope for is mediocre because mediocre is about as good as it gets. Some of the stories are painfully bad. Must read for fans of secondhand embarrassment.
An enjoyable horror anthology with plenty of variation to keep it from feeling stale, and decent artwork throughout. Definitely worth a look for horror comic enthusiasts.
