About the author

Ai Yazawa (Japanese: 矢沢あい, Yazawa Ai) is a Japanese manga author and illustrator. Her pen name comes from singer Eikichi Yazawa, of whom she is a fan.
Yazawa started her comics career in 1985. She specialises in shojo manga (girls' comics). Most of her works have been serialised in the magazines 'Ribon', 'Cookie' and 'Zipper'.
Yazawa's stories focus on young, often rebellious women and their relationships. The characters are always very stylish, and Yazawa herself is known for her sense of fashion. (She even attended a fashion school for some time after high school.)
Among her most famous manga are Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm No Angel, 1992–1995), Neighborhood Story (1995-1998), Paradise Kiss (1999-2004), and Nana (2000-2009), the latter awarded a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003. Some of these works have been adapted into anime and live action movies.

Będę niczym zdarta płyta - zanurzanie się ponownie w tej historii jest jak długo oczekiwany powrót do domu. Hachi i Nana... ich przyjaźń jest niesamowita, poruszająca, otulająca, kojąca, dająca poczucie bezpieczeństwa. Ten tomik był przezabawny, przesmutny, przecudowny.

Rozumiem już skąd te zachwyty! Jestem oczarowana (i sfrustrowana też). Ostatnie czytane przeze mnie książki nie dostarczały mi emocji, jakich potrzebowałam. Na szczęście na pomoc przyszła manga! ♡

I love this series so much. It is the perfect balance between emotional and humorous. Both Nana's had some great character development and I love seeing their lives progress in their time in Tokyo. I can't wait to see how both Nana's react to the Trapnest concert and if Osaki gets a true reunion with Ren.

Ocena za całą serię - nieco zawyżona, ale mam do tej historii tak ogromny sentyment z powodu obejrzanego przez laty anime, że nie potrafię inaczej. Kocham tę serię i już pierwszy tom przywołał te wszystkie emocje z powrotem.

Zdecydowanie najlepsza książka z dwóch tej serii, które miałam okazję już czytać. Tutaj miałam wrażenie, że akcja była o wiele bardziej żywsza i tak się wciagnelam, że przeczytałam w parę godzin. Tym bardziej nie byłam w kółko irytowana postaci Hachi tylko wręcz przeciwnie - bawiła mnie ona. W ogóle kilka razy zaśmialam się na tym komiksie i to nawet nie koniecznie z tego, co właśnie Hachi powiedziała.
Wszystkie wątki są tutaj rozbudowane raczej dobrze, ale trochę zastanawia mnie przyjaźń Nany i Hachi. Mam na myśli, że dziwi mnie to, że tak szybko nazywają się przyjaciółkami, choć wydaje mi się, że może być to głównie wina moich przyzwyczajeń.
A i - jeszcze bardziej polubiłam Junko. Serio, przyjemnie się czytało dodatki "Pokój Junko".
Tak na marginesie dodam, że ogarnia mnie jakaś niezrozumiała nostalgia, jak patrzę na ten dodatek i tam są kartki od fanów Ai Yazawy wysłane już ponad 23 lata temu, mimo że nawet wtedy nie istniałam. Ale myślę sobie, że to musi być flex posiadanie swojego fanarta w tak świetnej mandze.

Fabularnie robi się ciekawie. Widać, że bohaterowie (także ci z drugiego planu) będą się zmieniać na lepsze lub gorsze z czasem.

Kreska nadal potrafi wbijać kij w oko, ale stała się bardziej unormowana i ma jakiś takiś swój urok. Jednak tam gdzie trzeba, autorka potrafi stworzyć naprawdę niezłą grafikę.

Przy poprzednim tomie nie zaznaczyłem, a warto, że umiejętnie łamana jest tutaj czwarta ściana. Większość postaci doskonale zdaje sobie sprawę z faktu, iż są tylko rysunkami w mandze. Niemniej ich wzmianki o tym wychodzą bardzo naturalnie i pasują do poszczególnych fragmentów historii.

Ścieżki dźwiękowej nadal niestety nie stwierdzono.

I received a free ARC of the second volume of the Nana 25th Anniversary Edition from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. For people who haven't read Nana before, the story is definitely underway in this volume and you'll see why it received animated and live action adaptations back in the day. The beautiful thing about the second volume of Nana's 25th Anniversary Edition is that I could stop my reread with this volume and just have the story end with an open-ended yet hopeful note. Ai Yazawa's art still blows me away. The things our heroines go through, though, it's like watching your old friend make the same old mistakes again.

How did I miss this comic growing up? The pacing is still strange to me, and some of the dialogue (translation?) is off, but the story is getting so much better and I'm hooked now. I'm liking the growth of silly Nana as we learn a little more about serious Nana. The colliding histories with boys and family is drawing out more intensity, and deepening the relationships.

And I will always love this art.

Okay, this one was better than the first. I'm definitely getting into this and this is absolutely a queer story, the two Nanas just aren't physically attracted to each other. I love the art, and the care and love that was put into creating this story is so obvious. Definitely give it a read, and this 25th anniversary edition is absolutely the way to go.

Jak pierwszy tom był dla mnie dość średni, to tutaj zaczęło być mocno. Wiele emocji się we mnie kotłowało. Niemniej pytanie- dlaczego Junko wzbudzała w zdradzonej Nanie poczucie winy? Niby się o nią troszczy ale wyskakuje z czymś takim? Yeah Nana zmień znajomych, bo stara ekipa jest dość słaba.
