Another good volume!! Still a little bummed that this series doesn't seem to take any of the vampire plots seriously. But it's a great series for comedy and romance!! Perhaps that was the intention all along? I was thinking this series would be like Kami-sama kiss where it balanced out a dramatic plot with comedy and romance. But maybe not? Dunno. Still enjoying it, regardless!!

Now that’s more like it. This volume goes hard on both the simmering romantic tension between Hina and Amanatsu as well as the issues with Amanatsu’s blood. And it throws in the handsome VA behind Hina’s favourite to boot.

The quiet war over tickets to a tiger hugging event that pits Hina’s affection for Amanatsu versus Rinyu, who voices Mao, is a lot of fun. Amanatsu can be a little mean, but he’s clearly flat-out jealous here. And Hina resisting Rinyu is terribly sweet.

Rinyu attempts to understand Hina during a stamp rally in Ikebukuro (which I just visited, humblebrag, but I assure you it did not affect my rating!) are very amusing. Rinyu has an interesting backstory, but it plays off against Hina’s Mao obsession wonderfully.

It also doesn’t hurt that Amanatsu takes the complete and utter piss out of the merchandise that Hina is after. His bitching about French fries is comedy gold. Amanatsu would be a lot further along if he could learn to keep his mouth shut.

The second arc in this volume follows an obnoxious streamer who happens to be a vampire and is super bad at the part where that’s supposed to be a secret. His attempts to suck Hina’s blood due to a case of mistaken hematological identity finally bring Amanatsu’s true feelings to the surface.

Hina falls for an obvious trap, which is believable since every time Mao gets mentioned she basically loses any semblance of common sense. The flip chart was a nice touch though. Of course, in the midst of this chaos it becomes very well-known that Amanatsu is extra delicious (this seems to be a common theme in Japanese vampire stories I’m reading).

Things go a little screwball at this point, with a ridiculous laundry detergent mishap and Viktor screaming mid-flight that balances nicely with the imminent danger to Amanatsu’s life. It’s not quite madcap, but close.

We’ll hold tight on the development that closes out this volume, although it makes sense. It’s mostly how much debasement it’s going to inflict on Amanatsu that I’m concerned about as that could get old fast.

Still, the rest of the volume is a bop and it breezes along with lots of enjoyable bits and plenty of charming romance. I wish the series hit these highs more consistently, but it’s great when it does.

4 stars - it’s just fun and sweet in almost all the right places. Nothing amazing, but a very worthwhile volume.

I read this because it’s a cutesy read that I don’t have to think too hard about and it’s just overall fun. This volume felt a little blah. It took me longer than normal to read it and that ending was completely dumb. Ughhhhhhhhh! I hope it gets better next volume.

High 4 stars. This volume kept me entertained, though the lead guy is more and more 2D to me. Perhaps there will be more development in the next volume.

Hehehe, I preordered so it would show up on my doorstep on release day! Totes worth it! This series is my life!
Amanatsu is still hurling harsh words at Hina. But it's clear his real feelings for her are starting to shine through. They both care so deeply for each other, yet aren't 100% sure how to communicate that with each other yet.
I really hope that Rinya and Hina can grow a good friendship and that he doesn't become an antagonist or anything. He seems like actually a good guy and I loved their chapter together.

Oh, Amanatsu! You poor dude! Just surrounded by vampires on every turn, and there you are such a lure with your sweet, sweet blood.

Actually, why is your blood so sweet? And what’s up with Rinya (another vampire!) anyway? Is everyone else a vampire? Maybe that will be the twist, lol!

Another candy-sweet volume that ratchets up the otaku-ness to maximum levels as Hina becomes enthralled by the attentions of Mao’s voice actor, the sneaky (vampire!) Rinya. Viktor hasn’t been around as much and there’s maybe something sneaky going on there too. Much sneaky, many shenanigans all around. Just a fun time on all counts!

This one felt a little lite on overall plot. It was enjoyable though the romance is growing to feelings. The part where she is on her adventure with the voice actor was fun as well. I liked it but I am not sure where the story is going but it doesn't seem to be emotional damage so i am good.

This series is so cuteee. How Hina was waiting in line so long just for a ticket for Kyuta, so that he can be in a better mood!! Kyuta sitting there with the tiger plush was adorable. And it was so sweet how Rinya decided to help Hina with the stamp rally, so that she can have the Mao keychains. OH AND VICTOR IS BACK YAY!! 🩷🩷🩷 Such a good volume! Can’t wait for the next one.

I just Hina would start acting more like a powerful vampire. Don’t get me wrong, I love her quirky, dorky, otaku nature but… Girl, please step up for Amanatsu.

I’d also like to see more development between Hina and Rinyu 👀 Okay, okay… I think Amanatsu and Hina are endgame but let me dream, okay!?

I just feel like Rinyu is too perfectly suited for Hina to be just a side character aaah…

I feel like I *want* to like this series much more than I do. The lackadaisical morality of the vampires, including the main characters, keeps really getting to me. I don’t know how much longer I can hang with this series.

I’ve been having a bit of difficulty getting into this series, I’m not going to lie. While I really enjoyed the authors other work, Kamisama Kiss, for some reason, Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite just hasn’t pulled me in yet. It has a lot of elements I typically enjoy—a kind FL, vampires, otaku culture—but still, I’ve been having trouble connecting with it.

While I find Hina to be a wonderful main character, at times I find her to be oblivious to the point of being frustrating. I understand her character—she grew up a rich, sheltered, incredibly powerful vampire. It makes complete sense that she only understands human culture through an anime lens. Still though, some of her treatment of the male lead Amanatsu comes off a bit childish in my eyes.

I didn’t include the tag romance in this volume, as at even five volumes in, there is absolutely no romance in my eyes. Of course there’s nothing wrong with there not being any romance in a shoujo series, however it’s marketed as a rom-com. I find it incredibly difficult to picture the two leads in a romantic relationship, as I still don’t fully believe that Hina is able to separate Amanatsu from the anime character he resembles.

I do really enjoy their relationship despite my romantic complaints. Watching Amanatsu go out of his way to protect Hina, someone who could absolutely win just about any fight, so long as she understands that she needs to fight, is always very sweet. I love that she pulls out his protective nature, and I think the two work incredibly well as friends. I just cannot see them as anything more than that.

I’m still unsure if Hina understands, but the way she allows Victor to treat Amanatsu is enough to stop any relationship progression, in my eyes. Notably, in this volume, Victor essentially makes Amanatsu his slave. While sure, it was done to protect Amanatsu in the end, I still believe there were many different solutions to the problem.

This brings me to my next point: just about every point of strife is finished before it can ever get started. In a vampire series, I expect some action and horror. The earlier volumes of this series include these themes perfectly—the sudden overuse of the colour black, the unexpected powers being used, everything felt so vampiric. In this volume however, I almost forgot I was reading a vampire series until the midway point.

Despite my complaints of this vampire manga not feeling all that vampiric, I did enjoy this volume in the end. Specifically, I found the character of Mao’s voice actor, Rinya, to be captivating. I never could get a read on his intentions, and couldn’t decide if he had nefarious intentions right until the very end. I really hope he and Hina end up becoming friends, as I think they could both benefit from it. That scene of Hina reminding him of his time in old Japan when the Shogun era ended… It was just so touching!

I really hope the series goes on to show more emotional scenes like this between the comedic bits, as that fluctuation is what allows for it to shine. If it’s always lighthearted and cheery, things can get a little boring after a while. A more series scene or two every once in a while is necessary to spice things up!

My prediction/hopes for the next volume, is that the new vampire introduced in this volume gets whats coming to him for trying to attack Hina. I really hope there is a full arc with drawn out emotions and consequences for him—please don’t let it end in just one chapter!

Amanatsu is traumatised by the events of the previous volume when all the vampires in the club suddenly attacked him. He's cross with Hina too, and can't stand her talking about Mao. To cheer him up, she takes her to a zoo to hug a tiger cub. But it only helps so much, because they run into the voice actor of Mao there. And it's as I suspected in the previous volume.

A young vampire influencer is making videos where he brags about being vampire. He runs into Hina and Amanatsu, and like all vampires, is instantly drawn to the scent of Amanatsu's blood. When his videos spread, vampires all over the world start coming to Japan to have a taste of Amanatsu's blood. There's only one solution. Hina needs to make Amanatsu her servant by biting him. But she's reluctant to do so, in case it changes their relationship. Luckily, Victor has a solution. Not that Amanatsu is happy about it.

Great volume. The relationship with Hina and Amanatsu is in turmoil. We'll see where it leads to.

I received a free copy from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Squeal! Cute as expected and we’re getting somewhere.

Recap: Ammantsu is on edge bc of all the vampires around, Hina waits in line to get him tiger holding event and they run into Mao’s VA. She shows she puts Ammantsu before Mao. Stamp Rally with the VA, we find out there’s more vampire species, Ammantsu gets mad at his friend suggesting he ask Hina out, when he finds out she went to a newb vampire place to record, he comes to save her, vampire bites him, shares the experience, and vamps from all over go to find Ammantsu. Hina tries to protect him and then Viktor bites Ammantsu to make him his servant and all is well because Hina doesn’t need to break her no bite record.

Another good volume but heavy on the otaku and light on the vampire until the end. I did like seeing Hina hang out with Mao’s voice actor (who she doesn’t know is also a vampire).

The romance aspect is very slow going though for a book title Otaku Vampire’s “love bite.” Just when you think Hina & Amanatsu are realizing they like each other something else comes up like him being put off by her Mao obsession or being around so many vampire.

Now Viktor bit Amanatsu so will that change the dynamic? She seems relieved by it so I’m guessing not?

I wish there was more of the vampire stories and lore. Even though Hina being obsessed with Mao and Vampire Cross is central to the story and humour, I want more of the vampire stories.

This volume bothered me with the final chapter. I don't think there's a lot of difference between one type of non-consent versus another and the biting thing has a long history in the vampire lore of being metaphorically for sex. Up until now the MC has protected him from other babies but the way they wrapped up this volume was a copout. Made me lose respect for the MC and lower my opinion for the series.

Not a full deal breaker so I'll give it one more chance with the next volume.

Poor Amanatsu is having a terrible time getting over the vampire attack of the previous volume. But after hugging the tiger and the events that come after he seems to be alright again. At least there is hope that he will figure out what Hina means to him sometime soon. Viktor is back by the end and I hope what we seen didn't really happen, I am figuring we will get recap in the next volume.

This volume was pure joy to read! So many moments where both subtly thought of their feelings for the other (even if they're not truly romantic yet). Also, their banter kills me. She's so far into her otaku lifestyle that nothing outside of Mao, Viktor and her neighbor matter. He's so protective of her yet loves to talk trash, omg.

Thanks so much to Viz and Edelweiss for the DRC.
