This year’s Asagaya Tanabata Festival is right around the corner, but the upcoming festivities are the last thing on anyone’s mind. While Hiroto and Hideki break out into a heated argument over their new zombie film, Natsumi must deal with the fallout of a fight with Akari that may threaten their entire friendship. Will these four friends find a way to put aside their differences, or will their relationships melt away in the summer heat?

I love how a series can be so relaxing and laid back while also realistic with how problems are delt with. There is no magic fix all for issues. Everyone is just doing their best.

This is another strong volume, but I do think that I don’t have the buy-in for the movie that Hiro and Hideki made and therefore that section is a bit of a lost cause to me. This doesn’t feel like the best Hirayasumi we’ve seen as a result.

Nat and her travails are the best part of this, as she continues to put the struggle back into ‘struggling artist’. Needing a break from her attempts at manga, she heads back to her actual art school to try painting. It’s a good idea.

Except she shares space with Akari, who is moving from strength to strength. There’s a believable strain between the two as Akari crests a wave of success and has a doting boyfriend, while Nat feels like she isn’t doing anything with her life.

The entire volume takes place during summer as we weave in and out of the various characters and their struggles. Yamada has an art show of his own that doesn’t exactly set the world on fire, Hideki is stressed about the movie, etc.

Tachibana continues to work herself rather than actually live her life, though I was rather surprised to see the love triangle coming back to the fore this volume. I’m hoping it goes where I want it to - she and Hiro dating would be fascinating.

Overall it’s a good volume - it literally hits nearly every thing I want from a volume of the series and it makes excellent points about life and not wasting your time while you have it. There’s just not that golden moment that moves it into the series’ top tier.

Maybe it’s the summer vibe that makes this feel like it’s kind of more laidback (which is saying something for this series). I definitely like that it’s all about people who have truly not figured their lives out, so maybe it was just my mood reading it.

4 stars - an excellent volume, but it just doesn’t quite hit the highest notes that I’ve seen the series capable of.

tachibana dont choose either of them girl there has to be better choices than these two HAHAHA (but if you really have to choose, go for hiroto lol) i dont feel romantic chemistry between tachibana and either of them, but i see such potential in them being friends

anyway! this manga shows the ups and downs of adulthood well, i just need the down moments to simmer a little bit longer because they get resolved fairly (and unrealistically) easily

i loved the chapter where yamada and akarin went for a four hour walk in the scorching heat

It took me awhile to catch up to the current volume of this series, but it was mostly because I didn’t want the ride to end. This manga makes me feel so nostalgic for the past and hopeful about the future. All of the characters are wonderful and full of depth. I am looking forward to the next volume!

Alors que ce n’est pas forcément des plus gai et qu’au contraire, c’est plein de spleen, Hirayasumi est vraiment ma bulle de fraîcheur et encore plus dans ce tome plein beaux moments d’amitié.

Le cousin comme la cousine continuent de se chercher. Et si l’un avance un peu avec un projet avec meilleur ami, l’autre patauge. Ce sont les deux faces de la même pièce pourtant et on voit comment chacun a du mal à gérer ce moment de creux.

Avec beaucoup de réalisme et d’humanité, l’auteur décalque ces moments dans la vie où on a l’impression de faire du surplace tandis que les autres avancent, la jalousie qu’on peut alors ressentir et les maladresses qu’on peut commettre. Cependant, il ne force jamais aucun jugement et présente au contraire des personnages humains et touchants dans lesquels on se reconnaît et dont les émotions nous touchent. C’est donc plein d’envie et d’entrain au final derrière les déboires.

En témoignent les quelques pages où on les voit tous ensemble, cela respire de joie de vivre et cela fait un bien fou ! C’est l’été tel qu’on l’imagine au Japon avec ses fêtes, ses moments passés ensemble avec des lanternes et autres feux d’artifices, sa canicule aussi qui nous tombe dessus et ses jeux d’eaux. Tout est fait pour qu’on croie y être et ça fonctionne. On retrouve ainsi avec plaisir les tentatives de rapprochement d’Hiroto et son agente immobilière avec sa soirée projection, les amours de la copine de Natsumi avec sa balade en plein soleil et surtout les bons moments avec les copains, même si ce n’est pas toujours facile.

Avec une belle simplicité il capture ces moments simples et nous mets de la joie au coeur. On ressent toute leur joie de vivre lors de ces brefs instants partagés dont ils se souviennent dans les moments de doute et de vague à l’âme. Reste que maintenant Hiroto a fini son projet et que Natsumi n’avance pas. Tous deux doivent se reprendre et je suis curieuse de voir comment l’auteur va traiter cela avec son doigté et son fin humour habituel.

Belle lecture, très douce, malgré les sujets difficiles qui touchent à l’intime des personnages et ne les montrent pas forcément sous leur meilleur jour. Pourquoi ? Parce que ça respire l’authenticité et que ça fait mouche. On est touché par leurs vagues à l’âme qui pourraient être les nôtres dans cette si chouette et moite chaleur estivale où on a envie de partager leurs moments de franche camaraderie. Vraiment une lecture doudou de grande qualité.

Otro tomo más de Hirayasumi que engullo sin agua. Sigo sin tener ninguna duda que Keigo Shinzo consigue con su obra llevarme a pasear por una historia que no solo me reblandece el corazón, sino con la que empatizo más de lo que imaginaba al principio.

En primer lugar, Hirayasumi es una historia de adultos jóvenes. No es un “slice of life” de estudiantes de secundaria, como el 90% de los mangas de este estilo, sino que mezcla la vida postuniversitaria, con la vida laboral adulta. Es un compendio de personajes que navegan entre sus ambiciones y sus frustraciones, entre las dudas por el futuro y la realidad del presente. Estoy enamorado de cada uno de ellos, con especial reconocimiento a Hiroto y Natsumi.

Mientras Shinzo siga mostrándome historias tan reales y bonitas, y que además me sigan sumergiendo en un día a día de este Japón tan colorido, seguiré dándole mis 5 estrellas.

E’ arrivata nuovamente l’estate e con essa, oltre ai classici gavettoni, giri in macchina e gite per la città, torna l’annuale Festa delle Stelle, durante la quale Hideki e Hiroto riescono a far proiettare il loro film. Il giorno dopo però Hideki comunica all’amico che abbandonerà presto Tokyo.
Piccolo momento di crisi nel rapporto tra Akari e Natsu principalmente per colpa di quest’ultima, gelosa e preoccupata che l’amica la possa dimenticare dopo aver vinto un contest di pittura.
Il capitolo più bello e’ sicuramente quello flashback con prot la nonna, dolcissimo e toccante.
Nell’ultimo capitolo Ishikawa pubblica la prima puntata del suo romanzo e trova il coraggio di chiedere a Tachibana di uscire con lui.

Natsumi is such a brat. I really dislike her. She gets a prize for her manga story, does not care how her friend might feel, but now that her friend is successful she is jealous, not able to even congratulate her. Really disgusting. It's not helping that she is drawn like a 12 y.o. and she is acting like one too. They patch things up later, but it feels so shallow. She did not even get Yamada's art. I really liked it.

Also I am a bit uncomfortable because of how often alcohol is featured, like to the point where people have headaches the next day. And you call yourself an adult? Especially Yomogi. Her hobby is expensive whisky and cold beer.

Feia moltíssim que no llegia aquesta sèrie i sempre és com una alenada de frescor màxima ❤ En aquesta entrega tenim la sensació que arrosseguem temes d'altres volums, però amb un final obert i amb tensió. Els protagonistes continuen en un moment de crisi: l'un perquè no sap què fer amb la seva vida i l'altra, perquè no aconsegueix l'èxit ni en l'amor ni en l'art. Reflexions molt interessants i dubtes en el terreny amorós amb la noia de la immobiliària (amb qui es quedarà? amb l'escriptor o amb el protagonista?).

Volume 7 delved more into friendship dynamics and hard truths. It was nice seeing everyone navigate changes in friendship and acknowledge and move past feelings like jealousy and regret.

The fact that two characters keep serendipitously running into each other has me squinting my eyes for a potential love line. I know it's probably unlikely but it'd be so cute!

It's always calming when reading this manga, because it's somewhat connected to my life. I love the friendship between Nat & Akarin through playing baseball, Hideki and Hiroto's friendship at the Tanabata festival, and even the flashback between Hiroto and Grandma. I never thought Hiroto would think about such things. Not to mention the author is really clever at asking us to wait for the next volume just to find out Yomogi's answer(?)

keigo shinzo does such an amazing job describing the uncertainty of your late 20s/early 30s.
everyone being in a different stage of their lives, so relatable.
these characters so well written and both the art and story are so cozy.

Bữa trước khen tập 5 hơi lí tưởng hóa thì tập này kéo mình về hiện thực liền @.@ Áp lực đồng trang lứa khiến tình bạn dần xa cách, không lamg được nghề mơ ước vì hóa ra mình không tài năng như mình tưởng, thanh niên không bám trụ nổi lại thủ đô - quay về quê làm nghề với gia đình... Những hiện thực tàn nhẫn ấy tuy được kể nhẹ nhàng mà vẫn rất nhói lòng trong tập truyện này.
