The Crown of a Fallen Queen

Rate this book
Revenge is sweeter when served with a smile—and a knife hidden behind your back.I’ve been sharpening mine for years.

The Spring crown was mine. Until Freya Heart ripped it away.

Now, the only way back to the Fae continent that exiled me is through her son, the prince with the charming grin and the audacity to offer me his hand in marriage.

He wants a seat at the Faerie war table.
I want his head on a stick.

I don’t trust him. I don’t like him.
But we’re sharing secrets. Sharing a bed.
And he looks at me like I’m more than just a means to an end.

I came back to reclaim my throne—not to fall for the son of my enemy.
And if I have to betray him to win?
So be it.

“Fae don’t let things like the end of the world get in the way of throwing a good party. If anything, they dress louder for it.”

“The Crown of a Fallen Queen,” by Anya J. Cosgrove

I loved this book. A refreshing type of romance compared to the brooding men I’ve been reading about a lot lately. He loves her immediately; she’s everything he wants. She hates him immediately for being the son of the woman who took her throne. I adored the fake marriage and the political intrigue mixed in with the banter and fighting feelings. The romance was seriously so good. 5 out of 5 stars, so freaking good.

Thank you for the ARC, Booksprout.

We absolutely love this series and think it is fantastic. We support indie authors who are striving to make their dreams come true. If you enjoy fantasy romance, we highly recommend checking out this book and its series; you won't be disappointed.

Moving on to our thoughts, we were captivated by Devi and Seth's story right from the beginning. Devi's bravery and the challenges she faces immediately drew us in, while Seth's smooth-talking, charismatic, charming, and sinful nature added an intriguing dynamic.

The chemistry between Devi and Seth is palpable, and there is a deeper connection that cannot be denied. Despite Devi's disdain for Seth's mother and the actions of Freya, she finds herself drawn to him in a way she never expected.

This story is filled with hatred, mystery, suspense, cruelty, sorrow, love, sacrifice, secrets, death, longing, and evil characters.

There are moments of despair and unexpected twists that will leave you shedding a tear or two as you empathize with Devi's struggles and past. The slow-burning romance between Devi and Seth is beautifully portrayed, with witty banter, flirtations, lust, and longing building up to a satisfying climax where sparks fly and emotions run high.

Intrigue, deception, hope, healing, and friendship are woven throughout the story, keeping readers engaged and invested in the characters. Both the good and bad characters play their roles to perfection, with Percy standing out as a favorite for his humor and unwavering faith in Devi's ability to find healing and love with Seth. We thoroughly enjoyed this book and are eagerly anticipating its conclusion.

This is one of the most well thought out, emotional stories I have read in a long time. I loved the suspense, the secrets (and there are some really juicy ones) ,the humor, the mysteries to be solved (and yes, they are solved), the intrigue but most of all I love the telling of the journey for Devi and Seth. What they went through to get their HFN (because I think there will be more to their story) was breath taking.
You should look at the triggers, if any bother you, please do not read the story. They are all in the story.
I liked the map and the who's who .
Seth is so patient and persistent with Devi. He seemed to know that she was for him when they first met. Devi did not make it easy for him though.
I also loved that characters from the previous stories were in there. Damien from A Deal with the Shadow King, Elio and Lori, A Bride for the Winter King, Aiden and Beth, The Prince from a Cruel Summer , and then there's Luther and Willow and the wicked Freya.
This is a enemy to lovers story with a lot of heart.
I received a free copy of his book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my review.

That was fun, refreshing and the best cure for a reading hiatus!
Powerful MCs with a splash of evil in them and a delicious enemies-to-lovers trope.
Devi is powerful and canning. Seth is powerful and canning! They are together powerful, canning and a force to be reckoned with.
This book is unputdownable and it revived my hunger for romantasies!

The only problem was that, even if you can read these books as standalones, I sometimes felt that I was missing something because I had not read the previous ones.
It is a well-established universe with many characters, so it would be helpful to know their stories. As Devi has been involved with almost everyone in these courts, I kept wondering whether she appeared in the previous books.
The solution to that? Reading the previous books! And that I shall do!

Thank you @Booksprout for the copy.

This book had everything I crave in a romantasy—a strong, morally gray heroine who refuses to be tamed, a dangerously obsessed male lead who sees her as his equal and his undoing, and worldbuilding so lush and immersive it felt like stepping straight into the fae courts.

The tension between them crackles off the page—every secret shared, every stolen glance, every moment of forced proximity only makes their eventual collision more explosive. The spice? Off the charts. The romance? Utterly addictive. And the political intrigue woven through the fae world kept me hooked from beginning to end.

If you love enemies-to-lovers, reversed grumpy/sunshine dynamics, fake relationships, and one-bed tension taken to the extreme, this book will absolutely devour you. I couldn’t put it down and I’m already desperate for more from this series.

I'm not entirely sure how we've got to book four in this series already, but here we are and I'm still loving them. This instalment is a little different as it features both a male and female fae who have lived in their world for a long time. In fact, Devi is older than Seth, having been banished to the mortal world and unable to use her powers by Seth's mother, before Seth was even born. That doesn't stop them from being equals though and I loved the push and pull between the two as they at first fought against and then came to terms with their feelings for one another.
This one did take me a bit longer to get into than the first three in the series, but I still loved it. There is a bigger storyline here that runs through all of the books and I would recommend that you start with book one, not here. I can't wait to see what comes next.

This series continues to build on the previous books and, for me, just gets better and better! Devi is a fantastic character.
Strong, feisty, clever, and determined, she is well fleshed out and definitely stands out as an FMC. Seth is sly, clever, funny, and has that touch of vulnerability, which makes him endearing in his own unique way. The book is plot rich and has such a great cast of characters and entwined storyline that moved at a pace while keeping me totally involved. Having read the other books in the series, I was able to keep up with characters, events, and the overall arc of the story of this richly imagined world, so I would recommend reading in order. I look forward to spending time in this world in the future. 💖💖💖💖💖

Opposites Meant to Be…

Devi and Seth seemed to be least likely to get together in these courts but they are definitely meant-to-be. They may start out as a fake relationship / arranged marriage type of situationship but their journey proved they belonged together all along. This is their chance to take control of their lives, take back what was stolen, and prove themselves.

I loved their story with all the twists and turns, ups and downs. I also love that Seth knew he was doomed to fall in love with Devi from so early on. He fell and he fell hard even when she was reluctant to accept her feelings for a while. Great book! More people should be talking about this series.

I love their story, it takes a while and she has some healing to do. But he falls hard and fast for her and he keeps being there for her in the end. Their steamy moments were hot and the betrayal and highs of the plot were definitely nail biting moments. This definitely put me on an emotional roller coaster. But I really liked their story. It was raw, intense and so hopeful at the end. Can’t wait to read the next one.

This series needs to be more popular

Anya J. Cosgrove improves more with every book in this series. I wanted Seth's book after he was first introduced. Devi and him are great together. Can't wait for the next in the series!
