Ashley J Ecks is a Canadian self-published author. She enjoys reading all sorts of fantasy and romance novels. From a young age she’s always been interested in writing and drawn to it as a creative outlet. Just before she turned thirty, she challenged herself to actually write and publish a book... After months and months of hard work, and many tears it’s finally happened.
She was born and raised in northern Ontario, and currently in Nova Scotia, Canada, with her fiancé (to be married June 2024) and their Bernese Mountain Dog. In the summer the pair enjoys spending time in their backyard poolside, or on the lake with their kayaks. In the winter Ashley enjoys sitting as close to the woodstove as possible, while P enjoys the comfort of his cold basement. They both play ice hockey and have played separately for years. They will attend games watching the local junior teams any chance they get.
The second book of then huntsmen series continues with Lily & Jay. Monster does make appearances but not so much, as Jay's new meds seem to be holding him back.
I loved the fact that we get to read more of Theo, Dylan and Lars, who are all great characters in their own right and I'm assuming will get their own books in this series.
Lots more action, twists and turns in this book as they are hunting for Royal. Each character really has their own agenda for hunting him down, the way it's done is dangerous and Monster is not happy putting Lily at risk. Life got in the way of me reading this book, I felt I was picking it up just to read for five minutes, I was hooked!
As parents Lily & Jay ease into it with so much love, they just need their own family time now after all the drama. The epilogue four years later was a great peek into them, if a somewhat sad one. Can't wait for the next book, I'm sure as Ashley commented at the end, we haven't seen the last of this couple, we do need more from them, to read how they have developed as a family and hopefully have more happiness in their family.
As always flawless writing, I totally recommend this series.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I absolutely fell in love with Mine to Have and was so excited to have the opportunity to read Ours to Avenge! I was immediately immersed in the dynamic Lily and Jay had right off the bat, and it had me questioning what was going to happen next. I did feel like I was pulled in a lot of directions, not really knowing where the climax was. The storytelling is great, I just felt like there was too much going on that *to me* didn’t align with how the characters were written in the first book. The author does a great job at pulling at your heart strings and making you FEEL what the characters are feeling which I love. I do wish we got to see more of Jay and Lily OR had it told mainly from a different POV with Jay and Lily sprinkled in- it felt like I was being immersed in a few different plots and POV’s at one time which felt a bit overwhelming.
I will still, however, always be thinking of Lily and Jay. Like, every day. These characters are family to me
I was so excited to be able to read this book, and I was not disappointed. Lily and Jay are two of my favorite characters in any book series or duet I've read in a long time. I absolutely love their dynamic. I really enjoyed getting to know Theo, Dylan and Lars. I do wish there were more POVs from the other characters, and I was really hoping to find out what happened when dealing with Royal.
The plot was amazing, and I loved how Lily and Jay were able to get into their routine as a couple and as parents. I wasn't sure how Monster was going to deal with all of the changes, but I was pleasantly surprised. I appreciate the twists and turns and the unpredictability of the story. It's always a nice change when I don't know what's going to happen next.
Overall, the story was great, the characters were great, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I received this book as an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
This is super dark and twisty, and every time I thought I knew what was going on....BAM! I really enjoyed getting the different POVs and learning more about each character. Also, the growth Jay/Monster and Lilly went on? Chefs kiss.
I don't want to say too much as this is part two in a duet, but I had such a fun time with this, and can't wait to read more from this author!
Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
This was the perfect second book! I was glued and on the edge of my seat through a lot of it! I love Jay/ Mon so much!!! The dynamic and chemistry between the three of them is amazing! I couldn’t imagine being in Lily’s position. I’m really really hoping we hear more about Theo!!! I love his character also!
This is a great dark romance collection! I gave Ours to Avenge 5 Stars and 4 Spice
Oh my goodness. It just got better!! The plot is plotting!! You learn more about EVERYONE!! All the characters have evolved in some way or another. It's such a great dark romance!!! I'm so glad I found this author!!
This is the first series I have read and finished by this author. I was so much into that I couldn't put it down. So much more happened in this but I am happy with the way it ended. But I do hope I get to see more of Jay/Mon and Lily in future books.
