I, of course like a good mix of suspense , mystery, and possibly conspiracy in the books that I read. Written in the Deep: Closed Door Romance at the Blues Avenue by E. L. Irwin delivered (as do all of her books.) I’m a binge reader of Irwin’s books. They are captivating and keep my attention. From Scotland to Ireland to the U.S., Written in the Deep was a cascade lovable of realistic emotions. I especially like that Irwin not tells us a story, but she takes us to her destinations as well. After Written in the Deep, I feel like I took a trip to Ireland. Excellent. Of course, there was a touch of conspiracy surrounding a crime against women. This thread was expertly woven into the main story. I highly recommend Written in the Deep: Closed Door Romance at the Blues Avenue and all of Irwin’s books.

Adore a Scotsman
Matchmaking grandmas see Bethany's recent breakup as a chance to help their grandchildren find love. This is the love story of Bethany and Liam. I truly enjoyed the setting of their romance in Ireland and loved that Liam was a strong Scotsman. Hearing Liam speak was swoon-worthy! Do you know the difference between a kilt and a skirt? Liam will be sure to enlighten you.
I also appreciated seeing characters from Book 1. I adore Asher and Kate, Bethany’s parents.
This story is not just a closed-door romance. It contains trigger warnings for crimes against women throughout the novel, attempted murder, and murder. There are steamy kisses and fade-to-black scenes for married couples.

I did not want this book to end! I so enjoyed Bethany and Liam’s story. I loved that we got to read about them as a couple and their growing feelings. This childhood friends to lovers/cowgirl/Irishman/small town with a bit of suspense romance was wonderful. Five stars

This story is tough to summarize without revealing too much, but I'll give it a shot! It took me on an unpredictable journey that kept me guessing the whole time. From Ireland and Scotland to the U.S., it was a whirlwind of romance, suspense, and a rollercoaster of emotions. The characters were all so lovable, though one in particular, I could not stand, but don’t worry, no spoilers here, you’ll want to experience it all for yourself.
At its core, this is the love story of Bethany and Liam, brought together by their matchmaking grandmothers and parents. There’s also a peek into the romance of Bethany’s parents, Kate and Asher ( from book 1), whose chemistry is off the charts! Their love is everything, and it actually made me want to revisit the first book in the series.
The plot begins when Liam and Bethany are sent to Ireland to help with her grandfather’s business, unaware they’ve been set up. And let me tell you, the setup definitely works. But just as their feelings start to grow, a series of family emergencies causes a rift between them. And on top of that, there seems to be a threat looming over Bethany’s family. Will they find their way back to each other? Or is their romance meant to stay in Ireland?
I honestly wasn’t sure where this story was going at first. I ended up chatting with a friend who had read it too, and having her as a sounding board made it easier to follow along. Before I knew it, I was totally invested and could not put it down! I’m so glad I read this story, and I can’t wait to see who’s up next for their own love story.
A few things to note: there’s an unsavory character linked to crimes against women/murder, which adds suspense to the story. You’ll also find some steamy moments, plenty of kisses, fade-to-black scenes (as they’re a married couple), and innuendo.

Romantic Suspense
This sweet closed door romance between a Wyoming cowgirl and an Irish friend of the family develops early leaving the real tension in the story to be unraveled from the suspense plot. A dangerous situation carries over from book one threatening the heroine as well as her family so you will definitely want to read this series in order.
Multiple trips back and forth between the heroine’s Wyoming ranch and her grandparent’s home in Ireland as well as the hero’s home in Scotland give the story a special travel flare with lots of wonderful descriptions of events and scenery. If you like Outlander with its kilts, accents, quaint pubs, and sweeping depictions of history you will enjoy this book, seen through a modern day lens.
The author’s strengths include conveying the depth of family bonds as well as the passionate but restrained pull between a young couple falling in love. Faith is a light thread in this multi-POV story.
While I would have enjoyed more delay and uncertainty in the development of the love story, everything else going on with the travel and suspense provides the reader plenty to stay engaged with.
I definitely encourage you to try this author. I find her style and voice unique and I am hoping for a book three in the Blues Avenue series.

Written in the Deep is everything I want in a clean romance: emotional, tender, and absolutely captivating. Bethany’s journey from heartbreak to healing felt so real, and Liam? The kind of hero who makes you believe in love again. The Irish setting is so vivid I could almost smell the sea air and hear the chatter from the local pub. This book wraps you up like a warm blanket and leaves your heart glowing. I adored it.

The dual settings the sweeping Wyoming plains and the enchanting Irish countryside beautifully mirror the characters’ growth. The slow-burn connection between Bethany and Liam radiates authenticity, and the writing is both elegant and deeply felt. A clean, emotionally rich romance that shines with hope, healing, and timeless love.

This story made my heart melt! I loved the contrast between Wyoming’s rugged charm and Ireland’s soft, magical beauty it perfectly mirrors Bethany and Liam’s slow-burn romance. The meddling grandparents added warmth and humor, and the closed-door intimacy still carried so much chemistry. E.L. Irwin writes love that feels real, tender, and timeless.
