I liked the book. I did feel that Ayma and Colton really needed to have a sit down heart to heart talk due to the changes that were happening in their lives. I know they love each other and most of the time they truly acted their age (which is 18). But due to the fact that Ayma found out they were going to have a baby,. They never dealt with their issues.
I know that Ayma became friends with a guy when she was staying with her father and she thought she was having feelings for him but she really should have told him that she needed to have complete focus on her relationship with Colton and their baby. Instead, she kept calling and texting him when she should have been confiding in her boyfriend. I will definitely be reading the next book when it comes out so that I can know what happens, even though the story is a YA,
This is the second book in the series. Ayma has been thrown out of her home by her mother. Her and Colton leave together. After she found out how much her mother hated her it devasted her. She calls her father in California and he arranges a flight to him and a hotel for her that night. She doesn't want to leave Colton but he says its only for two weeks. She ends up staying a month. She loves her two year old brother and sister twins. She has also gotten really close with Holly her step mom. Her dad introduces her to the neighbor, Bentley and he shows her around and they become great friends. She starts to have feeling for him and she can't understand why when she loves Colton. She gets a call suddenly that her best friend, Tabby is in the hospital in bad shape. She goes back to Florida, where her dad has set up a place for her. She finds out Tabby is very ill and never told her. She also finds out her and Brady are getting married so she starts to help her plan. This book continues the question of young love and will survive all these things. It's a great second book. It also contains some profanity and sex scenes. You will love it and run out to buy the third. You will love Ayma and how strong she is as a person.
I love Izzibella Beau's Assumption series, and I enjoyed "Barely Breathing" even more than the last installment! The book centers around likable heroine Ayma, who has to leave her friends in Florida to stay in California with her father, stepmom, and twin half-siblings. She struggles to keep in touch with Colton and Tabby, and is feeling pretty lonely--until she meets handsome family-friend Bentley.
Ayma's feelings for both Bentley and Colton are the crux of this page-turner, and the drama that followed kept me absorbed until the end. I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say there a few surprises in store for Ayma--between her and Colton, and with her bestie, Tabby.
Beau has the knack of making characters come to life through dialogue and description, and I love the way Ayma, Tabby, and Colton face very grown-up issues throughout the book. Beau skillfully captures the confusion, excitement, and high emotion of graduating high school seniors finding their way in the world. I would recommend this book to any fan of YA or NA fiction!
Where to begin? How about go to Amazon and one click this like your life depends on it? That's where I would start! This book is an amazing addition to the series and not at all a second book filer like what happens so often in book two's. This book didn't fall flat it SOARED!
This book picks up right where book one left you wanting more, and boy do we get it. Life definitely isn't easy for the MC and her gang but they continue to fight the battle to the last page. They continue in there struggles but have each other and some new characters to fall on for support. This book will leave you shaking you kindle and screaming.... Trust me I know, been there. It will have you crying like a crazy person and wanted to hurt people.
You get a peek into the lives of other characters you didn't get to see so personally in book one. I am dying for book three. When I have you bet I will love it and write another glowing review! This author doesn't disappoint!
Beau has done it again with her second book, Barely Breathing. When I read Broken, I thought, this was an incredible story, with strong writing and loveable characters. But in this, her second book, Beau has ratcheted it up several notches by taking Ayma and the gang into adulthood. I enjoyed getting reacquainted with Ayma and Colton, and for a brief while, Tabby. I was very sad at Tabby’s passing, but was almost brought to tears when I read her letters to her husband, Brady and her best friend, Amy, from beyond the grave. This was a masterful move by the author. Well Done!
Amya and Colton can never catch a break. Life throw them all kinds of curve balls. Can their love really stand through it all. Amya seems to feel something for another person that she meets at her Dad's house. Bentley wants to give Amya more but understands she is in a relationship with Colton. When Amya realizes she's late this could throw their would into another "can we make it". Colton seems to be slipping away more from Amya in this one and it doesn't help that his ex won't stop showing up.
Barely Breathing by Izzibella Beau picked up where Broken left off. Let me just tell you that this book was just as heart wrenching as the first. So Colton and Amya are now put through all kinds of new trials including the fact that Amya has feelings for Bentley the guy that she meet when she went to her Dad’s. They also have to deal with all the drama that Colton’s ex Kennedy brings to the scene. This series of book has been great so far and I can’t wait to read the rest.
'Barely Breathing' (Assumption Series Book 2) by Izzibella Beau is a great read! I loved this book & characters. I read this before reading book 1 'Broken' and still loved the story. I'm going to go back and read how it all begins. I can't wait to read what happens next in this story in Book 3! Great series for fans of new adult romance.
