But as Terrian finally allows her walls to fall, Rowan’s perfectly crafted image begins to unravel, exposing secrets and lies buried deep. Terrian must confront her greatest Is Rowan just another cheater in disguise, or is he genuinely the redemption she deserves?

For lovers of African American romance, stories of strong single women reclaiming their power, and flawed yet captivating Alpha men, Plot Twist by Queen Rae delivers breathtaking drama, explosive tension, and a passionate love worth every risk.
Waffling between a 2 and 3 stars this read misses the mark. The first 10% sucked me in and the high from that scene was enough for me to finish the book but while the story progressed a couple of things were made clear. A) This is not a romance more so than it's a Soap Opera. A romance will make sure the main characters are the major part of the narrative thrust and that their romance is central to the plot points. Here a lot of drama and extra things pop off that feel like slices of life for our FMC but definitely not like watching two people fall in love. Emotions were close to instant and very white hot intense. Even though the "plot twist" with the MMC could be a part of that reason it just didn't feel that way in the writing B) the major character in the story is "plot twists". Certain character actions and transitions don't feel smooth. There is some disconnect between characters in scenes. Almost like being moved from place to place but lacking the literary flow.
Some distractions for me: 🤨 There was a lot of T name sin this book. Toryn, Terrian, and another T. popped up for the sisters and the FMCs daughter. It was really annoying 😃
🤨 The MMC, Rowan, is pretty cool. I figured out some of issues straight away but I wish he was better connected to the overall story. It felt like he was placed here and then there but again not in a Romance narrative way
🤨 Books are political. I know people say they aren't but they are. They are people human beings (no AI) write books based on their own conscious and subconscious guiding compass of morality and beliefs. A character being written a way does not automatically mean it connects to the author's beliefs but when multiple characters, including our main character, makes certain statements without correction it means that is the acceptable and accepted and corrected thought and belief. I was plugging along and decided to pick up Book 2 even though this was not a romance because why not and then one of the twists drop and I had to constantly hear abortion = murder. This was actually stated on page by several characters. It felt like as the reader I was meant to agree that abortion = murder. No matter someone's religious feelings on that it was a bit much for me as a reader and took me out of the story. I'm less inclined to move forward.
This drama filled plot twisting story was something else. Secrets, cheating, and lies were all mysteries in this story. Hey, but I did enjoy the book.
Terrian's no good cheating ex fiance Sherrod; Taryn's no good cheating husband Max plus her cheating behind on her husband; Taryn cheating w/sister's former fiancé, while he was still w/Terrian; Rowan w/his mysterious, rude, crazy, domineering, possessive self; Needra the crazy mom of both ladies who wants to now act like a mother;
Whew, this story had a lot going on, really too much if you ask me. You definitely need a clear alcohol-free mind reading this.
For sure, I loved Terrian, who had morals and good sense. She was about standing on her business and taking care of her daughter, Toran who was adorable. Terrian had a good heart, looking out for her sister who betrayed her.
Now, I didn't know this book would be continued, so I'm not too thrilled. It was long enough not to have a book two. Oftentimes, it takes longer than I want for the next book, that's why I prefer stand-alone books.
I'm anxious to know how Terrian and Rowan fair, but I might never know if I don't read book 2 whenever it comes out.
Rowan's eccentricities were no surprise, but the extent of his mental gymnastics truly astounds. Terrian's life reads like a telenovela, from the betrayal of her baby daddy's wandering eye and 🍆 to his cozy arrangement with her sister - talk about keeping it in the family! And now this identity switcheroo with Rowan? Talk about too much drama for one gal to handle. As for Taryn, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? At least Terrace is making an effort, even if Deedra's loyalties lie with the wrong side of this debacle. Can't wait to see how this twisted tale unravels - pass the popcorn!
I wanted drama and baby that's what I got!! But it was so much it almost took me out. I want to fight the momma, the sister, the husband, the brother in law, damn near everybody except Terrian.
Whooo....people are raggedy and trifling, and when they say keep your friends close and your enemies closer? Smh, no spoiler but I seriously can't believe the betrayal!! And the audacity!
And that ending? Literally my jaw hit my Kindle like WTF!! "Rowan??? "👀 got some 'splaining to do!!
I feel for Terriian. Terrian is a strong woman who can do what she wants and strives to be the best person she can be spite of absent parents! Rowan is assertive and aggressive, but he's dealing with some mental health issues that he refuses to get help for, and he's using Terrian as his medication. Taryn & Sherod can kick rocks. I am looking forward to the finale, hoping that Rowan/Jubal gets the help he needs.
Plot Twist is right!! Ms. Queen Rae, the title of this book was spot on!! Cause, WTH just happened? That ending got me all the way shook!! He's not who he say he is, which is why Cherica kept calling him Jah. Then that trifling sister and baby daddy. I just can't!! Honey, you put pen to paper on this one!!!
What an amazing storyline so far! I throughly enjoyed it and wish like heck that part 2 was ready! I try hard to only read books that are complete, but couldn’t help myself once I read the description. Please, please, please finish the next installment so I can continue this!
Aside from the name errors and the grammar and having to reread to make sense. This would have been a great read but if was so confusing. The synopsis was about the Taryn the sister and her life was wack and she was a hater. ROWAN/JUBAL was just a looney and everybody was just dumb with him.... like no.
This is my very first book by Queen Rae and this book did NOT disappoint!!!! While I anxiously await part 2, I’m going to check out the rest of the catalog ❤️ many blessings!
It started off slow. But omg this is definitely the right title for this book. Don't stop reading it!! I download the 2nd book immediately. I can't wait to see how this plot twist takes a turn!!
